“You know what that means right? More sugar, more caffeine... we need to invent something with both in it... like a cronut with coffee inside.”"Oh, yeah, the 'corfee'...or 'coffnut'..." Her nose wrinkled up. "Well, maybe not that one! But yeah, then you don't need to dunk your donuts! Might make mornings more bearable." “Yeah you guess right but I can tell you the face cream and curlers do a lot for me. Can only use small curlers though but can’t look this good all day without them.” He teased as he furrowed his brow for a moment, “Besides if you love someone, the curlers are just as beautiful as they are and I am sure you look gorgeous with both of those things.”She laughed, taking it just as the banter it seemed to be. "Right, it takes hours to be so gorgeous, but you know, the patients are worth it!" Rolling her eyes, she chuckled. "Just a good thing curlers come in those little tiny sizes." “Serious guy question though... how do you sleep in curlers?”"Didn't anyone bother to tell you that I have a hard head?" Of course, she didn't actually wear the things to bed, it really would hurt too much, and besides, she took a shower in the mornings, so there was no point. "Honestly, I don't know, that's...a grandma thing, right?" Laughing, she added, "I'm not ready for that yet. Besides, I'm naturally wavy...my hair, I mean...just...my hair." Steven Hudson

“I think you’re onto something there. Coffnut, love that one.” He said chuckling as he nodded, “Exactly and no more losing half a donut in your coffee either and finding it again in the last few sips. Soggy donuts are no fun.” He said frowning, he had an issue with losing biscuits in his coffee or donuts too when they broke off so solving that life issue was going to make peoples day. Steven laughed and nodded, “Well you make their day I am sure and glad you think they are. I mean a beautiful woman, what more could they want?” He said grinning, “They do?” Steven asked her not having much experience with curlers himself but then it sort of made sense that they came in all different sizes he supposed. This was a life lesson situation or at least he might understand his sisters a little better if he knew about these things. He pressed a couple of fingers against his skull as if testing what she had said as he nodded. “I guess you’re right but doesn’t that hurt?” He stated though maybe it was okay he thought, sleeping on roller things was maybe like an all night head massage? The one thing about him was that he was a guy and this kind of thing was a leap into the unknown. “Naturally wavy huh.” He said waving his arm a little as he grinned, “Grandma thing it is and you’re far from a grandma. Good thing you’re naturally wavy though, I’m more a naturally gelled or just washed look I think.” He said grinning at her, honestly he had no look he was going for to be honest it was just however he turned out in the morning after he ran a comb through it. "As long as you can avoid the 'bed-head' thing, right? Although..." she leaned back and looked at him critically, "that actually might be a good look for you, hair all spiked up and messy...and it would be easy!" Laughing, she went back to her paperwork. "You guys have it easy, I mean, no one cares how a guy looks, right? Just naturally sexy, but girls...do you have any idea how long it takes to put up a pony tail...and braids!" She rolled her eyes. "And have you ever had to sit through a manicure? No, of course not, you don't need soft, supple hands!" Another laugh, and then she shrugged. "Actually, you should try it some time, guys get them, too, and it's actually kind of relaxing. I think pink polish would be perfect for you!" Steven Hudson

Steven grinned at her when she looked at him critically, “Oh you’ve never seen me in a morning, it’s this way and that. I look more like Sonic the Hedgehog than a Steven.” He said smirking, then again he was hardly a pretty sight in a morning with hair that looked more like he had stuck his fingers in an electrical socket than anything. Hearing her laugh he smirked as he nodded, “A guy cares, have you see a guy square off before?” He said as he nodded, “I would say yes but I’ve no idea... I failed that class with two sisters. Braids and ponytails are a mystery, the bobble is too tight, elastic bands just aren’t right and those pin things... jeez could they get any smaller?” He asked as he shook his head. “These hands have never seen a manicure or soft and supple either.” Steven smirked as he looked at his hands as if admiring them for a moment. “You think I should? We should totally bond over that I mean I can go pink if you go red?” He said smirking, “I mean what shows trust more than me rocking up with pink polished nails?” Kelle Lindsay, EMTP,

Kelle laughed. "Exactly, and we'd have to have glitter, too." Then she looked down at her hands and shrugged. "I think I'd go with blue, so they would think that I was cyanotic and try to do CPR on me! Of course, I'd have to get that 'DNR' tattoo on my chest first!" That was a long-standing joke among those in the medical field, and especially emergency medicine, although there certainly was an undercurrent of serious truth to it. While the AHA promoted community CPR, chances of a good outcome from a cardiac arrest were fairly slim, and most of the field crews agreed that, for the most part, they would prefer not to have CPR done. Laughing, she looked over at him. "Either that, or the words, 'Press Here'!" That would actually be funny! "Man, I'm just ready to drop into bed and sleep for ten hours! Too bad I have too much stuff to do...I'll have to settle for six." Steven Hudson

“Oh the whole way with this, glitter too.” He said chuckling as he watched her, “Don’t forget that tattoo, think I’d want pink just so they would think I was still alive and leave me be. That way they cannot tell if I’m dead or alive and if they poked me... I bite.” He stated figuring it was far too late in the day to actually be serious about anything. When it came to DNR’s however life was very serious and Steven knew the damage it could do so he was a strictly come no where near and life support oh there was no chance he was going on that either. No when it was his time he was gone and that was that, no machines, no crazy ER and no trainee doctor attempting the impossible for a good outcome where there would likely be none. At her ‘press here’ joke he laughed and almost doubled over, “Trust me they would still manage to get that one wrong. Press here or here or here but not there.” He said as he pulled a face with his tongue hanging out a little. “Then you get the whole ‘so it’s not like the operation game, you don’t buzz and reset’.” He said grinning. “Put off the stuff you have to do and get your ten hours, sleep is important and after shift... I don’t think I’m getting out of bed fast tomorrow or today or...” Steven glanced at his watch trying to work out when today finished and tomorrow started. Kelle Lindsay, EMTP,

"Tomorrow," Kelle agreed. "I mean, it's not officially today until you divide it from yesterday by sleep, right? Or ten AM, whichever comes first!" She laughed, then shrugged. "Well, the cats would be happy with sleep...they do that, like, twenty hours a day anyway, and it really probably isn't a good idea to be playing with sharp or poundy things when you aren't fully awake! Besides, it's not like those projects haven't been waiting thirty or forty years already." She leaned back and closed her eyes. "Man , sleep sounds good, doesn't it? Nothing blowing up, no grumpy prima-donna cops...man, those guys are needy." Steven Hudson,

“I forget that part, very true we can’t distinguish the days without sleep. So does that mean we lose days?” He asked grinning, “I don’t want it to be 10am yet... too soon to be awake again.” It seemed to be weeks ago that he actually slept though he knew it was only one shift before. Sleep deprived had nothing on this job but then he would never change it. “I want to be a cat now, twenty hours sounds like therapy to me right now and see thirty years can wait thirty hours more, trust me I’m a paramedic.” Steven was all for putting off the jobs he had to do in aid of sleep though what he would do with his down time he had no idea. See his sisters would be a good start if they were home and after that maybe try for that twenty hours of sleep and not leave the house for the next four days. Though who was going to do the jobs he needed to do, yeah twenty hours sleep would need to wait until he could change into a cat and take up a spot on a sunny windowsill somewhere. Kelle laughed. "All the more reason not to trust you!" Then she sighed and closed her eyes. "Yeah, be the kitty of some rich old lady...pampered, fed tuna in a crystal dish, and yeah, sleep all day...heck, might have to put up with dorky holiday outfits, but it'd be worth it." She let out a little purr, then giggled. "Yeah, that'd be the life, yarn balls, catnip and Mama's pillow, I'm all for that!" Stretching like a cat, she yawned. "So, what animal would you be? I mean, besides an ass!" Grinning, she winked at him. Steven Hudson,

“Ouch, well I’m trustworthy just I like to sleep too. Maybe thirty minutes would be just as good.” He said still sure that thirty hours of sleep was required on days like that. “Hmmm you make that sound so good, even the dorky holiday outfits but yeah... we need to be cats.” To be pampered and looked after, of course a few strange hats and outfit choices but the general idea of getting to sleep when and where you pleased. He could put up with a lot for that. Steven laughed when she called him an ass and he rolled his eyes. “I think I’d be a dog, sure a lion would be great but a dog. Fed, belly rubs, walks and you can bark at people all day long and no one ever says anything back. “It would be living the dream in the yard with the family, going on holidays or getting to know kennel club. Roaming around your own land patch chasing things.” He said with a sigh as he grinned, it paid to be an animal at times providing you got the right owners. Kelle Lindsay, EMTP,

"Yeah, just hangin' your head out the window, letting the air flow through your ears." Kelle grinned, rolling down her window and sticking her head out. "Fresh air, road trip!" Laughing, she leaned back into the ambulance and shook her head. "My only thing with dogs is that they need that constant reassurance...you know, 'What do we do now? Tell me what to do! What are we doing? Was that good? Did I do good? What now...'! Cats...well, you know...they do what they want when they want." Sighing, she closed her eyes. "I just wish I could figure out how to not work and still live, although I like my comforts." She shrugged. "Sometimes I wonder what the street people think about all day, I mean, I can just sit there for only so long before I need to do something to keep from going stark raving nuts!" Honestly, as much as she complained about work and chores, she couldn't imagine living without purpose or some sort of mental stimulation. Steven Hudson

Steven laughed and nodded, “Open road, fresh air, wind in your ears... what more is there to want? Slobber all down the window, life would be amazing.” That or he would end up getting caught up in the window, sore ears from the wind or a multitude of other ways the entire thing could go wrong. “You’re right but a cat doesn’t wag its tail unless its going to eat you alive, also they turn their back on you like ‘yeah you’re talking to me but I’m having none of it’. Then again a cat get’s a lot more peace than a dog would, with the whole walkies thing where as a cat can sleep.” He said thoughtfully, now he was entirely torn between the two. Sleep all day or open road and wind in his ears it was starting to become a tough choice between the two. Steven grinned, “Two ideas, either a lottery win or a rich boyfriend.” He said though without work he was hardly sure he would be able to get on with life. “You’ve a point, I know I complain about being busy and lack of sleep but if it wasn’t for this job then I’d have to be doing something as busy. To be stuck with my head and no distractions all day, I would drive myself insane.” He said as work often was the cure to a lot of things at least for him. To be kept busy and out of trouble was a great thing. Kelle Lindsay, EMTP,

"Well, win the lottery," Kelle pointed out, "means buying lottery tickets, and I just," she shrugged, "I never win, so I don't see the point in putting out money that is just basically getting thrown away, you know?" Then she laughed. "And as for a husband, that would probably just end up costing me more in the long run, I bet!" She shook her head. "I'm in no hurry for that, rich or not, just seems like more trouble, and really, I don't understand these women who go looking for a man just for the sake of having one...I mean, I kind of think that 'love' is going to be something like discovering that a friend is something more one day." It was silly, maybe, but then, she thought that actively seeking a mate was kind of silly, too, and as she had said, she wasn't in any hurry to find a man. "I think I'd rather be a spinster than get into a bad relationship." Steven Hudson

“Yeah I can see that, paying for someone else’s lottery win but then you have to get a ticket to stand a chance.” He said as he thought about it for a moment. “So how about I take a chance and figure that since you’ve stayed around that you could be lucky, and get a ticket for both of us. That way we both have a chance and you don’t need to buy one?” In his eyes Kelle had to be lucky given she had stuck around so far. “Oh so is this a woman scorned talking here?” He asked not sure if she had been there and tried it out first. “Me either, don’t get me wrong sure a wife one day but looking for it is just a headache. I like you’re idea though, ‘love’ discovering a friend is something more. That’s why it’s good to be me, I don’t have many so my luck for a wife is pretty slim.” Steven had never really been the type to seek out a other half, when was there time for something like that. With work as well the hours were long and not exactly conducive to a relationship or at least it was what he had found out in life so far. Not being around, getting called in, talking shop or having a bad day and the other person not understanding it in the slightest. It was safer to stay away and let ‘love’ happen if it was supposed to. “Now that is sense talking, take it from a guy who knows a bad relationship it’s much better to be the spinster. I swear if I could make my sister’s spinsters they would never look at a guy.” He said grinning for a second though the thought had crossed his mind. Steven Hudson,

Kelle laughed and shrugged. "Well,if you really want to buy lottery tickets, that's cool...and I promise to give you a cut if I win the gazillion-millions...like, a whole hundred dollars!" She laughed again. "Yeah, I don't think you can make your sisters not find men, if that's what they want, but that's not to say that there isn't something good to be said for a good man, right? I mean, they could have men who will take care of them and protect them, someone to play with and who will support them..." At least, that was kind of what she would expect from a man who thought to court her, and she was pretty sure that Steve's sisters had the good sense and self-worth to make good decisions. "I bet you don't have to worry, after all, didn't you say you sort of raised them?" Of course, he might be in that position of an 'empty nester', reluctant to let them out of his control, much as a farther would, even though he was going to have to let them go one day. Steven Hudson,
