"Well, I guess it's worth more than a mil to get to do this every day, right? And with you, no less!" She laughed. "Heck, I should be paying for that privilege." Her eyes widened, as did her grin. "Hey, I know! I can just sell time with you! Kind of like a pimp, only you just have to sit there and be your charming self...people will want a chance to prove they can go up against the master, I can take bets against them and we can clean up!" Lord, she was getting giddy! God help any idiot that ended up getting them on another call for this shift! Still, she was having a good time, and being paid for it too, so who could argue that? Of course, she might feel differently after she'd had a few hours of sleep, but maybe he wouldn't remember by then? Steven Hudson

Steven grinned and nodded, they did have the best job in the world. Sure there were those days where he wanted to be anywhere else but, the day that things went wrong and there was nothing they could do. It was the good moments and days that made the job worth it, knowing that a difference was made to a life was a great part of the job. “Of course, maybe I should start charging by the hour.” He said with a grin though really it was entirely the other way around. He was the lucky one to have her with him.
“Now I think you’re onto something and I’d be happy for you to be my pimp any day. Just please make sure I get a few days off a week. I can’t always be my charming self.” He said as he fluttered his eyes at her for a moment. “Think we’d make the million in a few weeks if we did that and of course my glamorous assistant.” He said as he waved his hand to her grinning, “Can’t do any show without a sidekick.” He knew she was way more than that and could clean up for herself if they actually did it.
Steven knew it would hurt in the morning or whatever time the day after, either a sugar rush hangover or just coming back around from a shift that was mindboggling on the best of days. Still he would never change a thing about it, he had a partner that he got on with and she had stayed around after the whole incident. He was happy and loving life eating and drinking in great company. The only thing was sleep but then who needed that?

"Sidekick, huh?" She gave him a skeptical look, then shrugged. "That's cool, no one ever expects much from a sidekick, right? Just stay in the background and warn the hero when something is sneaking up on him." Grinning, she looked at him for a long moment then mused, "Of course, if the hero gets offed, then the sidekick gets to move up....hmmm...." Her nose wrinkled up in thought. "Free chocolate and bacon or hero status. Man, you don't make things easy, do you?" Steven Hudson

“Okay you can be batman too, or superwoman?” Steven said grinning as he shook his head, “Well there is the whole saving them thing, saving them from themselves too and stopping stupid choices like going off on a one person crusade.” He said wondering what it was she was going to say in the moment as he laughed when she did so.
“So it’s not just the bad guys I need to watch out for, my own partner too?” He said as he made a sad face, “Easy, never see there’s method in things... if the choice between free chocolate and bacon and being pushed in front of the near fire truck... I’d by you it for years.” Steven said grinning, “Besides you’re far more than a sidekick, more like you’re Batman and I’m Robin, constantly in trouble for something.” He joked though given the day already it was fairly accurate description of it.

"Oh, yeah?" Kelle grinned, then dropped her tone to a low grumble. "I'm Batman!" Shaking her head, she laughed. "Nah, I think Paramedic Goddess is enough, don't you? And sure, you have a way of finding trouble, but you're pretty good at dodging the consequences...guess it's all in who you know, right?" Well, in all honesty, they hadn't been partners long enough for her to make many judgements, but she did firmly believe that he was up-front and straight with her, that he had the best for his patients at heart and that he would never try to screw over his partner, all important traits when you were stuck next to someone for twelve to twenty-four hours. "Man, EOS can't come soon enough now. Not that I'm not enjoying the company and the eats, but...you know." The last hour of shift was always hard, hoping you didn't get called out and held over for some BS. "Guess we should head back so we can restock and clean up for the next suckers?" Steven Hudson,

Steven laughed as he bowed, “Oh batman save us save us.” He squealed as he nodded to her comment about Paramedic Goddess. “Well if that’s what you want to be known as Paramedic Goddess then from this day forth you shall be known as that.” She had enough of a point with putting up with him and from what he had seen so far the name suited her he thought. “Trust me; take notes not to do as I do. Like you say it’s all about who you know so I’ll give you a piece of advice, if a cop asks you for a favour... say no.”
Steven knew exactly why he had gotten into the mess in the first place and frankly he had every single reason to not do any more for the CPD. He had managed to get himself involved in something and by that get his partner involved too which never sat well with him. She was innocent of everything and had only helped which in the eyes of every IA guy made her just as guilty as he was. He tried to be as honest as possible and the one rule he had was never screw over your partner, he could be a little odd but he had rules to live by.
“You’re preaching to the choir here, the company’s great the food great but sleep... that thing that people do at this time of night... would be nice.” He said trying not to clock watch but the last hour was always a drag. “Yeah, can’t have next shift having to do that themselves besides we need to hide the chocolate supplies just in case.” He joked though it was a good idea as he finished up his drink though he felt like ordering ten more coffee’s just to make it through the next hour. It was that or curl up in the back of the ambulance and try to sleep though he was sure karma would just supply another call.

"Wouldn't hurt them to do some work," Kelle declared with a grin, gathering the trash as she stood, "but then they'd complain...they just don't understand Deity, right?" She grinned and crossed her eyes. Of course, restock, emptying trash, refueling, that was all something that had to be done by EOS -- no one wanted to get a rig that was under-stocked and dirty, and besides, the Cap would come down on them if there was legitimate complaints, and she wanted to avoid that. 'Fly under the radar', that was her philosophy, keep your nose clean, don't cause trouble, smile sweetly. Of course, she wasn't off to a good start, but she was pretty sure that there wasn't going to be any backlash on her, and she knew that Steven hadn't intended for her to get drawn into it. "So, have you decided what your exciting day off is going to be yet," she asked as they headed to the ambulance. "Me, I hear my pillow calling!" Steven Hudson,

“Exactly, see we know these things and yet I still feel like next shift can complain all they want to. We simply are teaching them to appreciate us and what we do for them.” He said with a smirk knowing that it would never be seen like that although sometimes when he saw the state of the ambulance at the start of a shift he felt like tossing it back at their door.
Steven gathered his things and threw out the rubbish in the nearest bin. Steven had always tried to be the under the radar type though so far in life the radar seemed to get closer and closer despite his efforts to remain under it. After he stopped trying to fly under any radar and just went about business himself well his nose was hardly clean but in the eyes of fifty one it was mostly passable on a good day. Besides he would never want to leave an ambulance for someone to complain about and, under stocked and dirty was a medics nightmare.
If he could save Kelle from the backlash on anything he would do, after all she was still there after they day that they just had. It showed character in his mind and especially the fact she had put up with him so far which was even better. “I’m thinking something dangerous and adventurous, any ideas?” He asked grinning, “Of course after a few hours sleep because really adrenalin is great but not when I’m three quarters to sleep land already.”

"Dangerous and adventurous, huh?" Kelle shrugged as the headed out to the ambulance. "Um...how about telling the on-coming shift that they suck and no one measures up to us?" She laughed. "Not much around here, really. I mean, things like para-sailing or land luge...if it was Winter you could do all sorts of things." Grinning, she made a dash for the driver's door and hopped in. "Hey, I know! Let me drive! VRRROOOMMM! WOO-WOO, get outta th' chick-driver's way!" Of course, it wasn't unusual for her to drive, although as a general rule she just chose not to, she was still relatively new as a paramedic and wanted to get as much patient contact as she could, for the experience. But there were times that she'd just had enough of the whining and needed a break. "All righty, then, hold on and prepare to see your life flash before your eyes! Ending with me, of course!" Steven nodded following her out to the ambulance, dangerous he had enough of that at work but then if he was going to have a boring few days he might as well spice things up a little. “I said dangerous not deadly, we know we are the best shift anyway so really we don’t want to break their hearts too much.” It was true there was a lot more to do in the winter though he was sure he would find something to do. Then again he might drag his sister into things too just to make it more interesting.
“Woah again this is dangerous not life threatening.” He teased her as he rolled his eyes and handed over the keys. He hardly had an issue with her driving and in his head women drivers were a lot better than men. Simply because as soon as those lights went on he felt like he was in a game of Mario kart, except this time if you hit anyone they flew onto the pavement and not the crash barrier. When there was a patient the driver’s seat was the place to be at times, it was quiet and peaceful and you could hardly hear the whining that took place.
“Can’t complain if it ends with you, besides with the sugar I’ve just had pretty sure I’m convinced I can fly.” He said grinning as he laughed and sat himself in the passenger seat and leaned back into the seat enjoying the freedom of being a passenger as he was almost tempted to put his feet up on the dash board.

"Too bad we don't have a sun-roof," Kelle declared with a grin, "then you could stand on the seat and do a 'Ferris Bueller'!" Laughing, she started up the engine and turned on the headlights and pulled out of the parking lot. "You could always just hang your head out the window like a puppy!" One thing about this time of morning was that the roads were relatively deserted so there weren't the idiot drivers to worry about. "Too bad the roads aren't always like this," she commented, "it would be nice not to have to take six times longer to get him than it should." Home... That was sounding better all the time! Soft, warm bed, kitties and doggies snuggled up, yeah, that was... BEEP, BEEP, BEEP! Ambulance fifty-one, respond code three..."Seriously?" Steven Hudson

“Ooh a sun-roof.” He said looking at the ceiling of the ambulance, “I’d sing and yell all day around the city if I could. We could hold concerts from the front seat and give our patients the Broadway style treatment.” He said laughing, honestly this time of night was the time for the best ideas though how he would convince CFD about it, well maybe take them on an all night call out shift. “I’m liking the head out the window though, wind in my hair.” With the roads quiet it was a nice time to just sit back and relax, to enjoy the city when it was peaceful and things were looking good for the end of shift. “I vote we just drive over things, if they don’t move then we move it for them. Straight over the top or straight through them.” He offered though it was what he wished to do sometimes and yet the city, not so much. “Least we get home faster when it’s quiet.” He said though it was sounding better and better the closer they got to it. That was until the heard those beeps and the voice. “No, no no no noooooo” he said taking a breath as he looked over at Kelle. “Shushhhh. If we pretend we’re not here they might forget we're at work?” He asked her as now home was looking like it was a long way off. Kelle Lindsay, EMTP,

“I vote we just drive over things, if they don’t move then we move it for them. Straight over the top or straight through them.”"Kind of like the A-Team, right?" She laughed. "Easier to go through than around anyway!" “Least we get home faster when it’s quiet.”"Yeah, no kidding, I hate getting stuck in traffic and taking three times as long to get home." That was until the heard those beeps and the voice. “No, no no no noooooo” he said taking a breath as he looked over at Kelle. “Shushhhh. If we pretend we’re not here they might forget we're at work?”"We should be so lucky...stupid GPS!" She sighed as the dispatcher gave the information -- a 93 year old male with dizziness, the address was only a couple of blocks away. "At least it isn't far and we might still be off on time?" Hopefully! She pulled up in front of the address, a small, older home with the porch light on. "Well, let's get this done." Steven Hudson,

“Exactly like the A-team.” He said chuckling, “It is, straightest point is through. So which A-Team member would you be?” He asked her having grown up on that movie and almost buying the Mr T van. Yes he was that kid that thought if he had the van he could go on the A team missions though it was likely he would just spend the entire thing screaming to make it stop but the idea was fun at least. “Man kinds downfall is he GPS.” He muttered before he listened to what the dispatcher was giving them. So this call was far from the paper cut over protective kinds that required a plaster more than a call out for sirens and lights. A few blocks and a hospital run, it could always have been worse he thought nodding to Kelle. “Fair, it’s not far and what’s one more call to round off the day. Not like we haven’t just drunk enough coffee to be awake for it.” He said as he settled back into the seat until they pulled up to the address. “Let’s, at least the lights on.” He said smiling as he motioned to the porch light before he jumped out and headed around to the back to collect the bags. “Exactly like the A-team.” He said chuckling, “It is, straightest point is through. So which A-Team member would you be?”"Face, of course!" She crossed her eyes and made a quick face at him, although she needed to keep her concentration on the road. "I'd just charm everyone with my radiant beauty, no one would be able to resist!" She hadn't much been into the A-Team, it had been a long time before she was born, but her dad had watched re-runs, so she knew about it, and she had had a sort of crush on Dirk Benedict (who wouldn't), but that was more from his Starbuck years! After parking the unit and setting the brake, she hopped out to help him with the equipment, following him to the front door, keeping a wary eye out. Sure, this was a call about an older man, so not likely anything to worry about, but you needed to be alert for that tiny percentage of calls that were wonky. Chances were good that most medics would run their careers with nothing horrible happening, but you never knew for certain, and it was these calls that sounded benign that could be the worst. They stood to the sides of the door after Steven knocked, and Kelle glanced at him with a grin when they heard the distinct sounds of a walker in linoleum. A moment later a grey-haired woman opened the door. "Please, come in. Dad isn't feeling too good this morning..." ((I'll leave the details to you!)) Steven Hudson
