Jason nodded when she said that while pulling away from the light. "I know" he said gently while holding Shani's hand. "Is it not a parent's duty to defend his children?" he asked in kind while driving along back to their place. Jason glanced over to her after saying that, seeing her face in the dim light at the same time.
Back home, Connor was sitting on his bed with Ice. The big dog had sensed that Connor was upset. He had gotten up onto Connor's bed and laid next to him, gently resting his paw on Connor's leg.

Shani smiled enjoyed the feeling of him holding her hand; she glanced back at him turning in her seat slightly to face him in the dim light as she nodded. “It is but you didn’t have to Jason, it means a lot that you did that. You won't just me my hero you will be Jason's too.” She said as she leaned over a little and placed a soft kiss on his cheek though she pulled away quickly as he was driving.
She simply hoped that this would help Connor and the principal would make sure to look out for him at school. Shani wished that she could stay at school with Connor for a few days to make sure that no one hurt him or bullied him but she knew it would be impossible. He had to learn things his own way even if as a parent she would have strangled the principal happily to protect her family.

Jason looked over when Shani said that to him, then nodded a bit in agreement when she said that. "I know" he said to her gently while he held her hand as he drove them home, pushing what happened between him and the principal to the back of his mind as he watched the road. He gently tapped his fingers on the steering wheel when he came to a stop at the last stop light before their place.
A while later, Jason soon pulled into the driveway of their home, shutting the car off after parking. He then got out and walked around to the passenger side, opening the door for Shani as he stood there. He hoped that things were going to change between Connor and the principal. Given how he snapped at him, Jason had a feeling that he wouldn't forget any time soon.

It was something small and yet to her it meant the world but to Connor she could only imagine. There was no shred of doubt in her mind that Jason would be there for the family but seeing him do it filled her with a deep sense of pride. Holding his hand she watched the road not for anything specific but it was out of habit. It was familiar to her as the route they drove was heading home, the place where everything else could get shut out and nothing could hurt them at all.
Shani smiled when they pulled into the drive way, she had thought a lot on the drive over as to how things would play out but she had to admit that this version was the best one. Shani smiled again when he opened the door for her, she stepped out of the car as she pushed the door shut before she went to hug him tightly. “Thank you for what you’ve done.” She whispered into his ear before she kissed his cheek lightly.
"You truly are the best." She stated. There was one thing for sure; if he had chosen not to go she was sure the principal would have taken a few rounds from herself. Shani had never been the greatest at keeping her passion for family locked up and it could often land her in hot water. Much like her truth telling, saying everything as it was some people appreciated it and others, well sugar coating was never her style.

"You're welcome Shani....and so are you." Jason said to her in reply while holding her hand in his. After saying that, he lead Shani inside, opening the door and holding it for her. He heard the sitter come walking over, glancing over to the young woman at the same time. "Hello Mr. McGuire" Kayla said to him when she was close enough. "Hello Kayla" he said in reply while holding the door for Shani at the same time. Ice walked over as he said that, wagging his tail after stopping in his tracks.

Shani smiled but shook her head lightly at him as she held his hand. She could hardly imagine life without him there and what she would do if anything ever happened, no that thought got pushed from her mind the minute he led her inside and she stepped clear of the door to see Kayla. Hearing Kayla she smiled at her, “How are the children?” She asked not wanting to be the crazy parent sort but there were times when she could hardly help herself.
They had left to fix a problem for Connor and she wanted to make sure they were both okay. Be it nervousness or just being a protective parent as she looked to Jason for a moment and then back to Kayla.

"The children are doing fine Ms. McGuire." Kayla said gently as she stood there. Jason nodded a bit when she said that. "Thank you Kayla" he said to the teen before walking her out. After talking with her, Jason saw her off, then went back inside, locking the door, then looking over to her. He walked up and took her hand in his, looking her in the eye before kissing her cheek. "Meet you in our room?" Jason asked after kissing her, hearing Ice walk up to their room at the same time. He glanced over to him, then looked back to Shani, seeing the light bounce off her eyes at the same time. Shani McGuire,

So perhaps Shani was that paranoid parent but then she knew what had happened to her sister with one small lapse of judgement and her sister had been taken from her in a blink of an eye. She watched as Jason walked the teenager out as she quickly nipped upstairs to make sure the children were okay. She trusted the sitter but there was something about seeing them with her own eyes as she skipped lightly back down the stairs as Jason locked the door.
Shani smiled when he looked over to her, took her hand as she looked right back at him enjoying the feel of his kiss. She raised her brow a little as she grinned kissing him for a moment as she smiled enjoying seeing the light on his face. “Meet you up there.” She whispered as she planted a soft kiss on his cheek and followed Ice up to their room.
