Gabby smiled and nodded, “Thank you all the same, it’s not something you had to do so thank you.” She said wanting him to know she appreciated what he was doing. Gabby knelt down to Connors height, she could see that he was unsure and she hardly wanted to upset the children there. “Hi, I’m Gabby.” She said with a smile trying to put the boy at ease the best way she knew how to.
His question threw her off guard as her smile dropped a little before she realised what had happened. How had she met Jason, one stalker later and after almost getting Connors dad killed, yes that covered it though telling any child that. No, it was a bad idea. “It was through work, he had a case at the fire house.” She said trying to be as truthful as she could but sparing the child the details. It was the direct and to the point that had surprised her but she appreciated it.

Connor smiled a little when Gabby said that to him. "Cools" he said in reply while watching Gabby. Jason looked over at the same time as he stood with Shani. It wasn't lost on Jason that what he helped Gabby with would be something not easily forgotten. As he stood next to Shani, Connor hugged Gabby out of the blue, much to his parents surprise. Phoebe saw him do that as well while standing next to her parents.
Connor soon pulled back and looked at Gabby. "Sorrys" he said softly, fearing he did something that he shouldn't have.

Gabby wished she could have used the same word to describe the case as the boy but cool was hardly a word she would use for it. Gabby smiled at Shani though she was surprised when Connor hugged her, it was something unexpected as Gabby hugged Connor back for a moment. She was still thankful to Jason for what he had done because if it had gone wrong then she could see three people and Ice right there would miss him more than anything.
Gabby furrowed her brown when Connor apologised, “No, it’s okay I like hugs.” She said smiling appreciatively toward the child. Gabby looked toward Jason and Shani for a moment wondering if everything was okay.

Connor looked at her, then smiled a little. Jason then had him and Phoebe get ready for dinner. The kids nodded, then went to wash their hands after Jason said that to them. Jason watched them leave, then looked over to Gabby. "They were happy to see you." he said to her honestly while standing there. At the same time, he wondered if Gabby ever thought of being a mother, though he wouldn't come out and say it as it would come off rather odd if he did that.
Shani finished getting everything ready and to the table at the same time. Jason looked over and saw what she had, smiling a little, knowing that she had knocked it out of the park yet again.

Gabby smiled and nodded, “It’s great to meet them they are very well mannered kids.” She said with a smile, not that she expected anything else though given what she had seen from kids while working it was a nice change to see that. Gabby wanted to be a mother but she just had never found the time, a child when things were as they were just wasn’t possible though she hardly knew what the future could hold but maybe one day. She loved her nephew and niece and enjoyed spending time with them.
Glancing at the table Gabby was amazing. “Wow, Shani look what you did.” She said grinning, the one thing about the fire house was she really never managed to get to know people when they moved around like Shani and Catherine did.

Shani smiled a little when Gabby said that. "Thank you" she replied while walking over to the table and taking her seat at the kids rejoined them. Jason pulled out the chair for her at the same time, which Shani thanked him for. Jason kissed her cheek, then sat next to her. Connor saw his dad do that as he took his seat, as did Phoebe. "Awwws" Phoebe said when she saw her father do that to her mom.
Jason and Shani both looked over to them, then back at each other, smiling at the same time as they held each others hand.

Gabby smiled as she moved over to the table with then though it was the children that had her laughing. A kiss to the cheek and the ‘awws’ from Phoebe caused her to chuckle and grin. “You’re parents are great people and love each other a lot.” Gabby said looking at Connor and Phoebe, in her time at the fire house Gabby had never heard Shani say anything but good things about her husband.
There was the usual talk and joking but Shani never once uttered anything but good words about Jason. “So do tell, how long have you been together?” Gabby asked genuinely curious about it as she saw Shani smile and look toward Jason.

Jason and Shani looked over when Gabby asked that. "Thank you and we've been together sence meeting at the Catholic University of America." he replied while filling Shani's plate. He told the story of how they met, when it was move in day and he helped Shani and her parents get some of her things into her room. Connor and Phoebe listened as well, each smiling as they listened to their dad tell that story about him and their mom.
Jason glanced over to them as he spoke and smiled a little, as did Shani.

Gabby watched Jason, Shani was one lucky woman not that Gabby was not though it was nice to see that there were still nice people in the world. “Together since university, that is great. Nice to know people who have been together a while.” She said knowing the work they did hardly lent itself to a long term relationship. If your significant other had no idea about the job then that was strain, either they could handle it or not and with Jason being a cop. Gabby wondered how Shani managed to get through any shift without constantly being on the phone to him.
At least with Matt he was on the same shift most of the time. “So, what is the key to a happy marriage?” She asked with a smile, their story was sweet something so simple as helping her move into her room and then from there on in they were together.

Jason looked over to Gabby when she said that, as did Shani. "Communication" they both replied while looking at her. "And not going to bed angry." Jason added while holding his wife's hand. Shani nodded in agreement when Jason said that. Jason glanced over to her, then looked back to Gabby. "Trust is another important part....the most important." he added after looking back to Gabby.
Shani watched as he said that, as did the kids. Trust was important to them both as they both have a military background. For Jason it was even more important in being an introvert.

Gabby smiled and looked between the two, communication well it explained a lot on her side of things as talking had never been something she was good at. At least when it came to herself that was. “Agreed, you two seem to have this all worked out. Might need to take your advice though.” She said knowing that she was bad with communication and she had gone to bed angry quite a few times and often gone to work that way too.
Gabby watched their children and then Jason and Shani, it was clear to see that trust was a big part of their relationship. “It’s nice to see two people that can trust each other like you, its not often that happens and not with the work you both do.” Gabby knew the long hours and the sorry because you were unavailable for that family dinner or important date. It all took a toll though Jason and Shani seemed to have it together better than many couples she had seen.

Jason nodded when Gabby said that, as did Shani. "We have...have much blood, sweat and tears." Jason replied honestly, to which Shani nodded in agreement to. Connor and Phoebe watched their parents as they sat there and ate, each smiling a little at the same time. Jason glanced over to them at the same time, seeing the smiles on their faces, as did Shani.
They both knew that they looked up to them. Jason knew that he and Shani had to continue to work hard in order for them to become honorable adults.

Eating Gabby nodded to Jason and Shani, it was good to see two people in love and making it work. It was too easy in her eyes to just throw things away without actually trying. Then again she hardly had the best track record when it came to relationships, even with Matt they had their rough patches but she was glad that they mostly came out the other side of it undamaged.
Watching the children smile Gabby grinned, “And what’s the key to those two?” She asked grinning, children were great though she always wondered if it would be something she was any good at. After all there was no user manual for them.

"Being firm but fair" Shani replied, which Jason nodded in agreement to. His parents were the same way and he had a feeling that it was the same with Shani when she was growing up. "If there is anything we've learned its that you can't be to firm or to fair, though the hard part is finding the right balance." Jason said, which Shani nodded in agreement to.
Jason glancing over to Connor and Phoebe after saying that, then looked back to Gabby, his fork in hand at the same time.

Firm but fair, well Gabby thought she might have to try that one out of the kids at the fire house. It seemed to be good advice though it was finding the balance, “Balance is the key to everything.” She said smiling, the balance of not freaking out and the balance of trusting a cop which she had done and so far she was alive to have dinner with his family. That was a good balance in her mind.
Gabby took another bite of the food as she smile, “You have a really great family, thank you for the invite.” She said glad that Jason had been able to make it home though now she had met them all. Gabby felt guilty over what had happened, if something bad had happened to Jason then everything changed for the three faces she could see as she looked away for a moment.
