"I am....and I only invite someone over if they are trustworthy." Jason replied honestly. As he did that, he finished his drink, then left a twenty on the table to pay for it. After doing so, he looked back to Gabby. "And to be honest: Ice would want to see you again." he said to her off the cuff while placing his arm on the table. He remembered how Ice warmed up to her after what had happened and knew that it would be a good thing for him to see her again.

At the same time, wondered how his and Shani's children would react to meeting Gabby. Don't know until it happens he said to himself while sitting there and watching Gabby after he spoke to her.

“Well I promise to be on best behaviour and if not, you can always arrest me I guess.” She said with a smile as she placed a twenty on the table too. “Ice is wonderful, best dog I’ve seen and more active than Pouch our fire house dog. Pretty sure if there was a fire he’d still sit where he was.” Gabby like Ice and he had been friendly too her when she needed one more than ever which counted. Gabby knew that her personality could clash with others though she could only hope that Shani was okay with it.

She likened herself to marmite, you loved it or hated it and there was no in between ground for it. Still it would be interesting and she would do her best to try and make everyone feel comfortable. “As long as you’re sure, I don’t want to put any pressure on you or your family. The jobs you guys do can do enough of that already.” She said honestly not wanting to be a cause for an argument for them later.

Jason smiled a bit when Gabby said that to him. "I could and that he is" he said to her lightly before standing up from the table. "I will let Shani know that you are coming....I'll tell you now that she is a great cook." he added while getting his jacket on as he said that to Gabby. One of the things that he like about the Jewish culture is that they championed family and being around the dinner table, much like the Irish culture did.

After getting his jacket on, Jason looked back to Gabby. "Shall I walk you out?" he asked while standing there, holding his hat at the same time while he said that to her.

Gabby smiled and nodded as she too stood up from the table as she got herself ready to leave. She was glad to have made the trip to meet him if not for her own sanity than anything else, to prove that she could do something and find it as it should be. “She is? If I’d have known that I would have asked her to take over from Taylor at the house, he things burgers ordered in are cooking.” She said with a grin as she pulled her own jacket on.

Gabby considered his offer to walk her out as she nodded glad for the company. “Thank you, I’d like that. I’d never have gotten this far without you know...so thank you for today.” She said trying to say thank you in her own strange way.

“She is? If I’d have known that I would have asked her to take over from Taylor at the house, he things burgers ordered in are cooking.....Thank you, I’d like that. I’d never have gotten this far without you know...so thank you for today.”

Jason nodded a bit in reply when Gabby said that to him. "She is.....and your welcome, just doing what I was trained to do." he replied with a slight nod before leading her out of the diner. The waitress that helped them saw Jason walk out, nodding to him when he looked over to her before getting back to work. Once outside, Jason put his hat on and looked around the place while he waited for Gabby.

As he stood there, he got his phone out and sent a text to Shani, letting her know that Gabby would be joining them. After getting a reply, Jason put his phone back, then looked to the door of the diner.

“Well pass on my thanks to whoever it is that trained you because you are one of the good cops in this city.” Gabby said as she followed slightly behind Jason as they left the diner. Gabby hesitated for a moment before she pushed open the door of the diner and took a deep breath of the fresh air outside. At least what counted for fresh air in Chicago but she would never swap it for anything else, maybe a Bahamas weekend but nothing more than that.

Shani smiled when she saw the text from Jason as she replied it was alright with her. An extra dinner guest would be welcome at the table as she tried to get that organised.

Gabby smiled as she saw Jason stood there. “Sorry about that, just needed a minute.” She explained not sure if he thought her entirely crazy but then it hardly mattered if he did. She felt crazy most days but then if she was the man would never have invited her to his home that much she was sure of. He was far to sensible to invite a crazy person to his home.

"I will and no worries" Jason said to her in reply. "I will see you later then." he added gently while standing there and looking at Gabby. He couldn't wait to introduce her to Shani and the kids. After he said that, he took his leave and headed over to his truck, getting in once there. After buckling up, Jason started the truck and headed back home, thinking back to the day he first met Gabby back at the station.

What he helped her with was something he wouldn't soon forget.....along with about half of the calls he had gotten since he joined the CPD.

“Yes see you later and thanks again.” Gabby said as she fastened her coat around her and moved off down the street to her apartment. "Oh I'll bring desert for dinner okay?" She asked deciding it was the least she could do. It was going to be nice to get to meet people outside of work for a change as usually orders were being barked and people were doing their jobs. Little time for chit chat and that went for the house at times but now Shani had been moved to Twenty Three there was hardly the chance to sit and chat anymore.

Gabby was still amazed that Jason had taken the time for her, he had done what many cops never did and she felt that even coffee had helped her a lot. Going out was a big deal but she felt a little more confident about it now. Gabby knew she would bring something to dinner with her, the key to things like that was never turn up empty handed.

Jason looked back when Gabby asked him that. "You're welcome and that will be okay." he said to her in reply. He knew that Shani wouldn't mind if Gabby did that, nor would the kids. At the same time, he knew that Shani would be happy to see Gabby again, knowing that she enjoyed talking to her.

After he spoke to Gabby, Jason got in his truck and headed home, gently taping his fingers on the steering wheel as he drove along, thinking about the stalker case he helped Gabby with.

Gabby grinned and nodded, well she was going to stop by the best bakery in town as her cooking and baking could be a little dicey at times. Even with Matt and Louie as taste testers there was no point in inflicting her lack of cookery skills on anyone else in the city. Besides Jason had been nothing but good to her and potentially poisoning his entire family with a desert made by herself, no she hardly wanted to be arrested for assault or poising people.

After she said goodbye to Jason Gabby went home to figure out what to wear and also figure out what to get for desert as she hardly knew the family well so favourites were out. Stalking around CPD to find out what Jason liked, she had enough of stalkers as when she set off out she decided to get a few options just in case.

At the same time, Jason got home and walked in, being greeted by Ice and then Shani. After kissing her, he told her that Gabby would be coming by to have dinner with them. Shani nodded as she listened, then went to get everything ready. Jason smiled a little, then went to tell the kids, having them get ready as well. He did the same after talking with them, then going to set the table.

Connor came over and helped him out at the same time. "Thank you Connor" Jason said to him. Connor nodded in reply after looking over. "You're welcome dad" he replied while standing there and looking at him.

Gabby had gone home to get changed and start work on what she was going to do for dessert. It hardly took her long to get ready and after locking up she made her way to the bakery down the street. Given prior planning and a few days Gabby was the sort who could cook and bake to a minimal standard however given her invite to dinner she had decided the safest option was to go professional.

After purchasing several different pastries and set to buying a cheese cake from the same place so that there were options for everyone involved. Once she was set Gabby made her way to Jason and Shani’s house, she was a little nervous as to what to expect as she knocked on the front door and stood back a little.

Jason walked over to the door after hearing the knock, seeing Gabby standing there when he looked out the view hole. He opened the door and greeted her.....as did Ice, who barked a few times before seeing who it was. The big dog then wagged his tail while standing next to Jason. "Ice seems to have missed you" he said to Gabby while letting her in. As he did that, his daughter Phoebe came over, stopping when she saw Gabby. "Phoebe, this is our guest, Ms. Dawson." Jason said to his daughter after closing the door behind Gabby.

"Hi" Phoebe said to her softly while standing there. "Do you works with my mom?" she added while looking at her as Ice walked over and sat next to her. Jason looked at Phoebe when she said that, then back to Gabby. Shani could be heard in the kitchen at the same time.

Gabby smiled seeing Jason and hearing Ice bark a few times before he wagged his tail. Best guard dog ever she thought as she bent down to pat him. “Awww did you miss me?” She asked him grinning, “I’ve missed him too and you of course.” She said looking toward Jason as she grinned and moved into the house. She stooped as she saw a little girl there, “Hi Phoebe.” She said politely before she nodded to the young girl.

“Yes I work with your mum at the fire house.” She said smiling, “You’re mum is the best paramedic fifty one has but you’ve got to keep it a secret because there’s another guy there who just thinks he’s the best.” She joked though honestly where Hudson got the grand ideas from she had no idea. Gabby looked toward Jason hearing Shan in the kitchen. “Thank you for this and are you sure this is okay still?” She asked just wanting to make sure there was no intrusion into their family meal.

Phoebe smiled in reply when Gabby said that to her. "You're welcome and yes I am sure: you know Shani so in a way you are family." Jason said to her as he stood with Connor, who was clearly unsure about Gabby. Jason noticed and gently nudged him on the arm. Connor looked at his dad, then over to Gabby. "Hi" he said to her as he stood there. Jason watched as he did that, seeing him walk over to Gabby.

"How did you meet my dad?" Connor asked as he stood there and looked at Gabby. Jason shook his head a little, knowing that Connor had the McGuire trait for being direct and to the point.
