Hank nodded and smiled as Jason, Ice and Gabriella left. It had been a long day so far and one raid later and a syndicate had been taken down Hank relished the paperwork that came with it. There was something about tying up a case when the good had been done that made him feel like the long days and political traps were all worth it. They had helped all those women, Gabriella included and kept dangerous people from doing any more harm to anyone else.
Time had flown by and two weeks later Hank found himself driving around Chicago. He needed to clear his head though he was still on duty when he heard the call for back up at a residential address. In his usual fashion he responded though it wasn’t usual for a detective sergeant to show up unless they were needed. He simply responded because he was in the general area at the time. A call could clear his head he thought as he pulled up behind another police SUV. Hank headed toward the front door as he radioed that he was on scene.
“Chicago PD!” He called out mostly to alert the other officer he was on the premises as he took a few steps inside. His gun was out as he scanned the scenery before him as he poked his head around a door only to see a quiet house hold. Door number one all quiet though there was the rest of the house to go before he could feel comfortable as he moved on.

Jason stopped when he heard Sgt. Voight's voice, lowering his glock at the same time. "Sgt. Voight?" he called out, keeping his voice low enough in case there was someone else in the house with them who didn't have good intentions. Ice picked his head up at the same time, looking over in the direction that the older man's voice came from. Jason glanced down and watched Ice make his way over to where Voight was, lowering his head a little when he saw him.
At the same time, what sounded like footsteps from a different part of the house got Jason's attention. Raising his glock again, Jason quickly and quietly made his way over to the wall and hid, waiting for who ever else was there to show themselves.

Hank heard the call as he recognised the voice, “Officer McGuire?” He asked keeping his voice equally as low just in case, the last thing he needed was to alert anyone to the fact that they were there or more to the point where they each were in the house. That was just giving the bad guys a head start and he wasn’t in the mood for that at all. Hank smiled and patted Ice’s head for a moment before he looked back to Jason and nodded.
The minute he did the sound of footsteps reached his ears as he was bad to search mode again. Hank raised his gun making sure not to have it pointed in the direction of Jason or Ice as he took cover to the side of one of the cabinets. It wasn’t perfect but it provided cover and hid him from view of whoever it was that was in the house.

Jason kept his gun trained on the hallway, ready to shot or send Ice in to tackle who ever was there. Seconds later, a clearly shaken and scared five year old boy stepped out. Jason lowered his gun and got on his level after calling in. "Hello there....where is your family?" he asked, his father side coming out as he spoke. The boy looked at Jason when he said that, not sure if he should answer. Sensing the boy's fear, Ice walked over and sat next to him.
Jason didn't stop Ice from doing that, remembering what he read about Sigmund Freud's early research into the connection between people and dogs. The boy was unsure of Ice as he stood there. "You can pet him...he only goes after bad people." Jason said gently to the boy, who nodded, then pet Ice slowly.

When Hank looked out to see what was going on he saw the boy, too young to really know what was going on which was a blessing in itself. Hank kept his gun up though he hid it through his jacket to provide protection for Jason and Ice if anything happened. Watching Jason with the boy it was clear to see he had children, kind and patient was the way and to him Jason had that which was another great thing about the guy.
Hank moved toward the two a little, “He’s a good dog isn’t he?” Hank said with a smile as he kept a close watch on their surroundings. “Anyone else here with you?” Hank asked the boy in a hope that he might have some idea or at least a count for the house hold so far. Knowing how many people were in the house was half a battle.

The boy nodded in reply about Ice being a good dog before looking up to Hank and Jason. "No ones else is arounds." the boy replied while petting Ice. "Daddy told me to hide from the scary men who came." he added. Jason looked back when he said that after looking to the back door that he saw, seeing the photo of the boy's family at the same time. Jason got on the radio and called in a description of the boy's parents and that they had been taken by force.
As he did that, the boy continued to pet Ice, though it was clear that he was still scared about what had happened to his parents.

Hank relaxed a little hearing there was no one else around, well that was a bad start to things he thought. No one else there meant that the rest of the family was missing or worse and that was a scary enough thought as he looked at the boy. Hank watched the boy while Jason called it in as he knelt down next to Ice and the boy. “You’ve been a brave kid you know.” He said smiling, “You’re safe now though and it looks like you’ve gained a friend too.”
Hank knew he had to ask the boy if he saw anything or knew anything but the kid was frightened enough. Hank looked to Jason and then back to the kid, “So what’s your name?” He asked him with a smile trying to at least not jump right into the questions that needed asked.

The boy nodded in reply, "Sean" he replied while petting Ice. As he did, Jason looked back to the main door and saw two other officers that had arrived. The older of the two nodded to Jason, then left to go check around the house. Jason looked back to Sean and Ice as he knelt there.
He knew that they had to ask Sean what he heard, but it wasn't lost on him that if they pushed him to soon he could shut down. Jason could tell that Sean was still a bit shaken by the ordeal so he waited for a bit, not wanting to step on Sgt. Voight's toes. He knew better then go over a superior officer's head, unless it was warranted.

Hank smiled and nodded, “Nice to meet you Sean.” Hank knew they needed the information but he had seen what happened when things went wrong trying to get it as he gave the boy a minute with Ice. “See now Ice here is an amazing cop.” He said with a grin before looking back to where Jason was. Out of the two of them Jason had younger children and Hank was a little out of practice.
“See that cop there, his name’s Jason.” Hank said as he pointed towards Jason and moved out of Sean’s way. “Now Jason there is Ice’s handler, if you think Ice is cool then Jason is a lot cooler. He is like the leader of the Thunderbirds.” He said trying to come up with something that the boy could relate to that wasn’t from the sixties. “You can tell him anything and we’ll make sure your safe.” Hank offered not sure who the boy would feel more comfortable talking to.

Sean looked at Hank when he said that to him, then smiled a little before looking back to Jason. "I was in my rooms when daddy ran in and tolds me to hide in the closet. I couldn't come out unless he came or if I heard the police." he said moments later as Jason watched him. "What happened after dad had you hide?" he asked gently. "I heard daddy and mom yelling with another guy...thens they were gone." Sean replied while petting Ice. Jason nodded a bit when Sean told them that. "What did the man with your parents sound like?" he asked.
Sean looked up at Jason when he asked that. "He sounded funny...likes he wasn't froms here." the boy said. Jason knew that it was his way of saying that the guy didn't sound like his parents. "I see" Jason said to him gently while watching Sean. "He sounded likes my teacher...she's from Ger...Ger..." Sean tried to say as Jason watched. "Germany?" Jason asked gently, to which Sean nodded in reply to. Jason glanced back to Voight when Sean nodded to him.

Hank was relieved when Sean started talking, he knew it wasn’t going to be easy but then the child was safe now he just needed to get Sean to see that. Hank listened to what the boy was telling Jason and the questions being asked back. In Hanks mind the father knew what was going on enough to hide his child in the closet. It was smart and entirely stupid and risk move at the same time he thought. At least there were no signs for the child to come across as there was still the chance that his parents were alive.
It was all Hank could hope for at that point without knowing what was going on. Looking toward Jason Hank wasn’t sure what to make of the Germany slant to it. “See that is great information, it really helps us here.” Hank said positively trying to think of the nearest Germany connection he could think of. “Did you see any of the guys that were here? Have they been to your house before with your dad?” Hank asked wondering if Sean knew of any ongoing connection as he glanced to Jason.

Sean looked up when Hank asked that. "I saws him last week when at the park with mom." he replied, Jason looked back when Sean said that. "What was he doing?" he asked. "He was watchings us.....mom got me into the car and took me home after seeing him." he added. Jason watched Sean as he said that, it was clear by the look on his eyes that he was forming a theory in his head about the man and Sean's parents. It was also clear that he wanted to find this guy and get Sean's parents back to him.
Sean continued to pet Ice at the same time, clearly more relaxed then when he first saw Jason and Hank. That wasn't lost on Jason when he looked back to him.

Last week meant there was history with what had happened and as for a random attack that was off the table. Hank listened to what Jason asked and what Sean said, the mother taking off after seeing the man was bad as running from anything was bad but Hank had a bad feeling about it. Hank could see that Jason had a theory about what was going on as he glanced at the man. Finding the boys family was important Hank just hoped that they could do it in time before anything bad happened than it already had.
It was good to see the boy relaxed than when they had first seem him. Hank moved toward Jason for motioning to take a few steps away just so they could talk. “So what are you thinking about all of this?” he asked interested in the mans opinion on it.

"Either a stalker or a angry business parter." Jason replied honestly. As he said that, one of the other officers called out to them that he found something. Jason noticed the puzzled sound in his voice before walking over....only to stop in his tracks when he saw Matthew 2:16–18 written on the wall. "Okay: what the heck does this passage have to do with Sean's parents?" he asked, clearly confused as well. The younger officer looked at Jason when he said that. "Dare I ask?" he said.
"Its the account of the Massacre of the Innocents: 'When the Magi had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. Get up, he said, take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him. So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night, and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my son." When Herod realised that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old or under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: "A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.' " Jason replied, his confusion giving way to fear as he said that.

Hank nodded in agreement with what Jason thought, he was about to add to it when another officer called out that they had found something. Hank looked at the wall and the Matthew 2:16-18, so this case was getting stranger by the minute he thought as he listened to Jason recite what it meant. Hank hadn’t been near a church for longer than he could remember, at least from a religious point though he had the idea he was too far down a road for forgiveness from the man himself.
Hank could hear the fear in Jason’s voice. “So this is about the boy?” Hank said wondering what it was about the kid that anyone could possibly be after. “Are we thinking that the family did what Joseph did, take the kid and run to somewhere safe but they didnt have the outcome.” Hank could feel his stomach knot at the thought that the child could be a target for anything, children were innocent and shouldn’t have to be involved in what the adults were doing.
He knew it wasn’t the first time that a child was in danger, they could hear the wrong thing, see the wrong thing and instantly the kid isn’t a child anymore they are a liability though Hank found that tough to deal with. Children were just that, not old enough to understand what was going on as he thought about the fact that they boy was still alive and with them now. “We’ll need to protect him, make sure that no one gets a second shot at him.” Hank said as he looked toward Jason.
