The night shift, there was no moon outside as Gabby stood at the front of Fire House 51. The night was quiet if not eerie; no moon meant no light other than the glow from street lights and car head lights. She could have watched the world go by had it not been for the bellow of call. The entire house was involved, Truck, Squad, Ambulance 61, Ambulance 24 while the others were put on standby. The entire house jumped to work, climbing into the engines and ambulances as they made their way to the industrial park in their area. The building was well alight by the time they arrived, smoke filled the air and debris was spread far and wide as two other houses showed up. Gabby could hear their commands being yelled to search the perimeter and keep the hoses going from the outside. The penny dropped as she realised that it was fifty one who would be going inside to search. Injured people were strewn out across the tarmac area as the windows blew themselves out floor after floor which rained glass down on them. Gabby heard the chief of Fire House 23 yell orders their way. “We’ve got the outside on this, 51 you take the inside. We’ll battle what we can from out here.” The chief yelled to anyone who would listen. “It’s a grain building, combustible air in there. Concrete structure and ten floors to cover. Upper floors are offices. Be quick.” Gabby looked to the rest of fifty one trying to see if the Chief was there yet but one thing was sure. They would be inside or rather had to be shortly as she looked to the Lieutenants for orders. we've lost it all my heart is beating im gonna pass the test
Outside the Building to Floor Four
When they got there Matt moved as quickly as the others on Truck if not quicker. Everyone already knew where they were usually sent so there wasn't a lot of scrambling for positions. Matt never went in until given orders. Then the orders from the other chief came down. The other firehouse had gotten here first and as such their chief was ultimately in charge. How well was Kowalski at taking another chiefs orders? This could be interesting Though he started pairing his firefighters off two at a time. He left Martin and Scott, to handle the hoses as the apparatus on the truck even if 23 did have the outside they still needed someone with water.
"Herman, Mouch. When we go in you two take floors one and two. Dawson with me levels three and four. Otis and Kidd five and six. Keep your eyes open."
He grabbed his gear and tapped Dawson on her shoulder. "Let's go" he stated as he moved into the building.
Once inside he wasted no time in moving up the stairs. Though he kept Dawson in as much of his line of sight as he could. Usually he didn't have her hot on his heel and he didn't normally breathe down her neck. He trusted her but something about this was making him uneasy. Matt and Gabby were going to have to maneuver around the machinery that wiggled their way through the metal bridges they were crossing. The metal was getting hot and quickly. He took a few breathes as he looked back to check on Gabby.

As soon as the call went out, Kelly headed out and got into the Squad truck and they arrived on scene, listening to dispatch. Once there, his eyes flickered as he studied the blaze. Oh that looks bad, he thought to himself. "We need to vent that," he commented and then went to see if he could find a way to do so. He didn't like this. As he did this, he activated his radio. "Squad, we're gonna go in by twos and threes and each group's gonna floors seven through ten," he instructed. Maybe they were being spread a little thin, but it was the only way he could think of to get more done.

"Damn..." Kelle glanced at Steven and raised an eyebrow as they sped along in the convoy...even from several blocks away, the glow of fire and thick column of black smoke stood out against the night sky...this was a big one, but hopefully, because of the hour, there wouldn't be a lot of people there to begin with, but it was hard to say. There were businesses that ran 24/7, except maybe for the offices, "Gonna be a long night," she murmured, shaking her head. Even if they weren't swamped with initial victims, rehab for the firefighters, and just standing by in case one of them was injured would keep them well into the early morning hours. The yard was already a flurry of activity, crowded with the fire apparatus, hoses and personnel who were carrying out various duties. The ambulances would park on the peripheries, where they would be out of the way and have clear egress. Their first task would be to triage and assess the number of patients, then form a plan of action based on that... Steven Hudson

Stephanie Harris when fire meets gasoline Heading to Floor 7 Capp turned to his left and there stood Harris, well more like a moving Harris. Before anyone could say anything she was stuck going through floor seven with Capp. She hurried through the mess and moved at a much quicker pace than Capp was used to. "Harris slow down" She raised a brow. Was he telling her to slow down when lives were at risk. She was up the stairs the first few stories. She watched as Truck disappeared to the lower floors. Pushing open the door to the 7th floor she took a few breathes. She wasn't out of breath but she was starting to lose focus. "Fire Dept Call out!" she yelled as much as she could. Hearing Capp behind her doing the same. Oh well he had caught up apparently. Stephanie called again. "Fire Dept" She took in a breathe and then finished. "Call Out!" The smoke was already thick this high up. Swinging her axe at one of the doors she knocked it open. This was the first floor of offices. They had a lot of ground to cover. Stephanie was too focused on what she was doing that she had no idea where Capp had wandered off, or actually she might have been the one to do so.

Seventh FloorHave you ever done something stupid? Something stupid enough that when you started doing it you already know you shouldn't but you go ahead and do it anyway because you know by doing the stupid thing you could help others in the process? Steph is going to have my head..That was one of the few thoughts as he made the choice to run into the building, without waiting for the actual firefighters to arrive. He could not help it that his unit had actually be very close to the scene when the call went out, or that he and his partner had gotten there first. What he could help were the people inside and do what he did best, help the injured. Of course that meant doing the stupid thing and running into a burning building. It had been almost ten minutes since he had been outside; the last trip from the second floor he had helped two people and a teenager down the stairs, the teenager had a nasty gash on her head from a part of the ceiling falling down. Luckily he had been smart enough to grab his jacket before entering the building, it had proved useful in protecting his arms and then later covering his nose and mouth when the smoke grew thick. This time he headed a few floors up, realizing that the building was far larger than it appeared out front, there were not any flames on the floor (yet) but the smoke was thick. He paused, trying to hear anyone who could be calling for help but all he heard was a weird silence. Last floor then I'll go back.. He knew the route he was going to take, the stairwell went straight down to the main floor and then not ten feet away from that point was an exit he could use. Simple plan for someone stupid enough to actually run into a burning building. That is, if your exit wasn't blocked by a wall of flames, Peter winced and moved back from the heat to a slightly cooler end of the hallway though it was still really smokey. "Fire Dept Call out!" He spun around at the noise, hoping to see someone but all he saw was a hallway full of smoke going one direction and then fire the other direction. The fact that the actual firefighters (and his stupid self) were there now was a good thing...that is if he wasn't the one they might be looking for. Peter wondered if he had actually heard the voice, or was it the smoke really starting to get to his head more than it already was. Peter rubbed his eyes for the hundredth time since he had entered the building, and stared down the hallway, hoping to hear whoever was yelling again so he could respond back. But before he could do anything, the sky literally came down on him in a shower of ceiling ties, insulation and other debris, all which was quickly followed by something heavy that sent his head slamming into the floor below him. Steven tried to smile reassuringly though what he saw hardly looked good. Too much smoke and the glow, well it was a nice site from far away though he never wanted to imagine what it would be like up close. The hour had hopefully thinned out the bulk of the workers but he could only hope for a short casualty list though he had a bad feeling about it. The kind of knot in the stomach he got before there was something he knew was wrong. It hardly felt right but then he had to put that aside. “Very long night.” He said as he sighed, they were about to get no rest and between patients and fire-fighters needed oxygen, rest and fluids. It was just one of those calls. Steven could see the other ambulances and it was as scene from a movie in his eyes. “You ready for this one?” He asked as he reached to open the door and head into whatever chaos awaited them. “Triage and let’s go see how many people need our help.” He said not wanting to think too much about the amount of people.

Ben partnered with Cruz for the ninth floor and figured that if they each took two then Squad had the top covered. Looking at the fire it hardly made him feel safe, the building hardly looked sturdy but then looks could be deceiving he thought as he felt Cruz tap his arm. The building was filled with smoke as he put on the mask before he entered and made their way up to the ninth floor. He was lucky to see the hand in front of his face as he followed the yellow flash on Cruz’ jacket.
“Fire Department call out.” He heard them both giving the usual call as they kept themselves low and pushed open doors. It was almost a hand over hand situation as Ben kept a hand flat to the wall as he saw Cruz take a different route while Ben pointed straight ahead to cover more ground. It would save time and the sooner they could get the water in there the better for everyone he thought as he worried about Stephanie. Usually they worked together or rather he tried to keep an eye on her but this time was different.
Ben shuffled along as he pushed open a few more doors as ceiling tiles feel all around them but there was no sign of life. That was until he heard the faint yell over the noise of sirens, fire and falling debris. “Cruz, we got on south west corner.” He called over the radio hearing Cruz say he would make his way there.

Gabby found herself staring at the fire, it had to be one of the worst one’s she had seen so far. Had it been another day she might have protested being partnered with Matt rather than Herrmann but not this time. This time she was more than fine with his choice as she grabbed her things and followed Matt when he tapped her on the shoulder. She was glad that she could keep an eye on Matt too for a change.
Following him up the stairs it was unusual to see his name emblazoned on the back of his jacket. She forced the thought from her mind while she wiggled her way through the metal bridges. It would have been easy had it not been for the fact they were in full gear which meant a lot of turning twisting and awkward walking as she placed a hang on the metal to steady herself at one point. Even through her gloves it felt hot as she gasped, it hardly burned but hot metal the fire was burning hotter each minute.
Gabby saw Matt look back as she smiled. “Right behind you Lieutenant.” She said as she stumbled slightly getting her foot caught before she straightened herself up. “You alright? This place is heating up quick.” She remarked in an effort to not feel like there were a few things that made her uneasy about this call. If she showed that she was worried then to Herrmann it might have been fine but to Matt. She needed him to focus and in turn that need gave her focus to not explain the bad feeling she had.

we've lost it all my heart is beating im gonna pass the test
Floors 3 and 4
Matt was alright but he had the same ominous feeling in the pit of his stomach. It was hard not to hear the crashing of part of the building crumbling above them only a few stories. The look her had given to check back on her fell. "Truck 81 report" He called into the intercom as he pointed around them. Clicking his radio off he spoke to Dawson "Make sure we don't have anyone in here. We gotta move" he stated quickly.
Matt didn't like this. With 7 falling into 6, it also may weaken 5 depending on how hard the carsh into 6 was. and 5 was too close for comfort. Matt hated taller structures. Clearing them was really dangerous for the fire dept.
He only nodded to Gabby asking if he was okay. Mainly because he was assessing everything. "Fire Dept Call out!" he was hoping one of them could be loud enough to be heard. Scampering across the ladder. Rats, running from the smoke. Matt hated rodents but he was used to them. You tended to get used to them in some places like this that were so old and run down.

Stephanie Harris when fire meets gasoline Floor 7 Stephanie all but saw the collapse on seven and body falling with the floor as it crumbled away. She looked at Capp and headed towards where the structure collapsed. Stephanie leveled eyes with him. "Let me go. I weigh less. I wouldn't be able to pull you up."She tied onto the rope. "Floor Seven collapsed into Six. Assistance requested" she called out over the radio. Hooking herself onto the rope. " Lower me down and I'll do what I can to help until we can get this person out of here" she got the okay from Capp as he helped her get ready for a descent but when she did the floor gave under her and she was dangling. Feet slipping Capp held on best he could but the rope gave way. Snapping into two pieces was when all 140lbs of Stephanie and 60lbs of gear came slamming down into the floor below. Hands first as her momentum twisted her. Floor 6 Capp came over the radio. "I've got a firefighter down. Assistance needed on 6 and 7." The device on her Stephanie's side went off. She couldn't hear the radio at first as she tried to figure out what had happened, but the annoying sound of that box. It was there for a reason but her body hated it. She realized she had landed on a body. Rolling over she screamed out in pain. Checking things over she recognized the face. "Paramedic down Amb 24. Repeat Amb. 24 has a medic down" she sounded in a lot of pain and her voice stressed. Something was wrong. "Lower me down there she says" Capp clipped in over the radio. More to let the others know what happened. "You weren't supposed to drop me." Then she realized she was bleeding from the side. There was little she could do about it to stop the bleeding right now. Stephanie rolled over as best as she could. "I'm pinned." She just let her Pass device continue to go off. She couldn't see upwards anymore. "Peter!" she stated as she finally maneuvered enough to get his pulse. Trying to keep the weight of her body off him as best she could, she took a few deep breathes. "Otis! Kidd! Floor 6! Get Harris out of there!" She heard Matt's voice on the radio. Right they were the closest two. That wasn't to say that she didn't think they would only send two but this was going to be a mess. Seven was a slippery hole above them and 6 was a landmine of machinery and the tops of grain silos some tipped over. The only thing keeping them from falling yet again was the metal bridge they had come to rest on. Owww her side and her shoulder. She kept her breathing even or she was going to run out of air. Dean was following Otis and Kidd up to the 6th floor when the floor above collapsed down with a deafening sound onto the floor they were on. "Floor Seven collapsed into Six. Assistance requested"The voice on the radio called out. The three men had stopped in their tracks as the deafening sound of the floor collapsing above them caused the building to quake and moan like an old man. "Paramedic down Amb 24. Repeat Amb. 24 has a medic down""Shit!" all three of them seemed to speak simultaneously as the looked at each other. Moving to the sixth floor entrance. The center of the seventh floor has indeed collapsed towards the center of the floor below it, the one they were currently on. How much longer this floor could maintain its integrity with the extra weight and the fire weakening its weight bearing columns was anyone's guess. But One thing was certain, they had to get the paramedic out before he or she succumbed to their injuries. He was about to ask where the paramedics unconscious body was when another body fell from the upper floor when the beeping sound of the Pass Device that would help. "Otis! Kidd! Floor 6! Get Harris out of there!""Kowalski here along with Otis and Kidd. We're making our way over to both the paramedic and Harris."TAG: Gabriela Dawson , Stephanie Taylor , @matt , @kellyseveride , Steven Hudson , Kelle Lindsay, EMTP , @kelseydarden , Benjamin Taylor , Grace Taylor Dean via RadioDean via Radio

"Triage it is..." Kelle nodded, knowing that, as much as they might want to be involved in the rescue, that wasn't their job -- they didn't have the training, and more important, didn't have the safety equipment to go inside. And there was no point in just becoming another victim. Glancing at Steven, she frowned as they heard the chatter over the radios and the urgent calls for help, and that there was a medic... "What the heck?" That made it very difficult to try to concentrate on triage, especially when a number of the people milling around the area were merely hysterical and not at all injured...and then there were the ones crying because they'd breathed a little smoke. Still, if any of the firefighters or medics were injured, they'd get filtered through the triage area. She just hoped that didn't become necessary, or that maybe another unit would come in and that crew could take over triage. But that was the decision of the 'senior medic'... Steven Hudson

"Paramedic down Amb 24. Repeat Amb. 24 has a medic down"The voice sounded like it was coming down a tunnel. A very long, dark, smoke filled tunnel that he was standing in. His entire body hurt and there was a weight on his chest making it even harder to breathe, but that was not the worst of it. His head hurt, it was like the worst migraine on earth combined with this uneasy feeling that something else was not right, but he could not figure it out. "Peter!" This time the voice was a little bit clearer, the world seemed to speed up more as sounds started reaching his ears. He could hear the an alarm of some sort going off, the sharp chirping doing nothing but causing his head to hurt more, Peter opened his eyes and stared up at the large haze filled hole that used to be the upper floor. What building has a giant hole in the middle of it like that and why was he looking up at it? "What happened?" he mumbled as he tried to get himself into a seated position, but he quickly found out that he couldn't move, something heavy had the entire left side of his body stuck, and he could feel something sharp digging into the upper part of his thigh. Why the hell am I here? he wondered, the air was thick with smoke and it hurt to breathe, he closed his eyes and tried to remember how he might have ended up where he was but he could not get anything to come to mind. His head was blank, all he could recall was the vague idea that he might have been doing something in the building. Do I work here? he slowly opened his eyes again and moved them towards the sound of the annoying beeping, "What am I doing here?" he asked the person. Tag: Stephanie Taylor

The building was crumbling, as if a fire needed to get much worse Gabby thought trying to distract herself from the noise. The key, never panic she thought knowing she was with Matt and that he knew his job better than anyone else. Gabby saw the look he gave her as she nodded to him. Gabby clutched her radio. “Dawson reporting.” She said not entirely sure he needed to know since she was right behind him but then the Lieutenant had given an order.
Gabby moved quickly, keeping her hand on the metal that got hotter every minute. “Fire department, call out!” She yelled hearing nothing but flames and the building crumbling with them in it. Gabby saw one of the rats and froze for a moment, no rodents she hardly liked but they were a job hazard. “Fire department call out!” She yelled again as stopped trying to hear any sign of life or a shout back. “I can’t hear anyone and I can’t see them if I did.” She yelled to Matt as the smoke seemed to be getting worse.
Gabby took to climbing another one of the ladders as she kept Matt in sight as a way back. Even with the smoke she could just about make him out as she yelled again trying to see if she could see or hear anyone that needed help. She heard the radio chatter about fire-fighters needed assistance as she climbed back down. “Lieutenant we are going up there?” She asked though it was more an ‘I expect a yes on that’ question.
