Andy listened as Jia said that she would make things right and that she would see he got a fair turn the second time round, it was just what he wanted to hear but then he realized that it was just what he wanted to hear and his skepticism kicked in, " Thats, thats good to hear but words are cheap, I'll believe you when I see actions." He replied before he put the phone down. It wasn't long before the phone rang again, causing Andy to jump with a startle. He looked at for a second and as he reached his hand out to answer it he heard Jia shout through the door. "Uh yeah, if you think it will help." He answered passively. He looked over to Wesley and motioned for him to go to the cabinet using the hand with the gun, "She wants the files on my case. Get, get the files." Wesley put his hands half up, uneasy with the unstable man waving a gun around, "Ok. Just please keep that gun pointed at the floor." Wesley got up from the floor, walked over to the cabinet and started looking for the right files while Andy talked on the phone. When she asked if he wanted anything Andy thought for a second before his skepticism kicked in again, "No, no I don't want anything. I'm not opening that door." He replied. "Here they are." Wesley said holding up the files. "Ok, he's got them." Andy told Jia down the phone, letting her know what was happening the other side of the door. "She wants a lawyers view on the files. You're the closest thing we have to a lawyer in here, you read them." He told wes. "Ok." Wes replied, "I'm just going to open them on the desk." He said, slowly moving to one of the desks and spreading the files on it. But as he read them he felt himself getting stuck between a rock and a hard place. The argument was not in Andy's favor, but how could he say that without setting the guy off? Then as he read on and learned that Andy wasn't actually the kids real father his opinion that Andy was less than innocent just strengthened, "Here, talk to her." Andy said handing him the phone. Wesley took the phone and put it to his ear, he was silent for half a moment knowing what he had to tell her wasn't what he wanted to be able to tell her, "Hello Detective." He began, "I've reviewed the files and it seemed the prosecution made a fairly convincing argument." He tried to word it carefully, but the bottom line was the guy looked guilty, "They made the case that the abuse only started after Andy moved in with the mother and child and it apparently it was a strong enough argument to sway the jury."Tag: Jia Lei Yang. |

Jia smiled when she heard Andy reply to her, she guessed he was right about that. She could say he would get a fair chance this time but then proving it was a whole other story and what if he was actually guilty? She could hardly prove something if it was true the first time around but then did a guilty person go this far to prove their innocence? She had no idea because the human mind was complicated and this was way out of her comfort zone. She really did pick the best days to turn up for the lawyers. She was glad when Andy agreed in a sense to let Wesley look over the files, at least from a lawyers perspective there might be something she was missing. A word or a motion filed as lawyer talk was like an entirely different language to her. “Hey Andy I’m not going to try anything okay, just asking if you want anything because we could be here a while and I know when I’m hungry my day can go badly. I don’t want the same for you.” She explained, yes where food was concerned at times Jia could be an absolute bear. It was most likely due to the fact she had skipped lunch then had an extra shift to pull or got called out to a scene that took four hours longer than expected. It general entailed that the nearest food she could find was hers and if anything got in her way they might see her slightly darker side. “Good, that is good.” Jia reassured Andy hearing that Wesley had the files. It was a step in the right direction she only hoped that Wesley saw something different to her because she was seeing a mostly air tight case against the man. Jia listened to the conversation between Andy and Wesley as she waited to hear if there was going to be any eureka moment. When Jia heard Wesley’s voice she smiled, “Hey Wesley, how’s things in there?” She asked though she guessed the answer. Not great considering there was a man holding a gun with a room full of people. “Okay, so it’s not looking great but there has to be something to prove this guy is innocent.” Jia said with a sigh, “A guilty man doesn’t risk prison again to prove their innocence.” It was trying to understand how there could be a case as she thought about what was going on. “I think I’m going to get his ex and the child here, if the ex sees what Andy’s doing then she might talk. If we can offer her a way out too things might be different?” Jia suggested wanting to know Wesley’s take on it. “Any chance you can go over witness statements, see if anything doesn’t add up that might have been missed?” Jia asked as she told one of the cops to fetch the ex wife and child to the building. It was a long shot but then if there was abuse by the biological father then offering an escape route for the family might be a way to get to the truth especially if the child was hurt after Andy had been removed from the situation. “Can you pull the medical files the lawyers used and I’ll get the up to date ones here as soon as I can, if the abuse passed the date Andy was out of the picture it might be something?” She asked again not entirely sure but still there had to be evidence of his innocence somewhere if he was. Jai asked one of the other cops to pull the records for her for the child and wife as she stayed on the line. “So are you hanging in there?” She asked not sure how Wesley was doing at all. "It could be worse considering." Wesley answered when she asked how things were inside. It was a hostage situation so it wasn't good, but no one had been hurt and right now Andy wasn't being overly threatening for a man with a gun in his hand. 'Not if the guy is guilty' Wesley thought when Jia said there had to be something to prove his innocence. He glanced at Andy and the truth was he wasn't convinced the man hadn't done it, but he couldn't say that for him to hear, "Yes. If that is true." He replied to Jia, knowing she would know what he meant but that but Andy wouldn't as he could only hear Wesley's side of the phone call. But when she added that an innocent man wouldn't risk prison again Wesley thought she had a point. He still wasn't convinced, after all anyone who could take people hostage at gun point had to be capable of smacking a child right? But he wasn't so fixed minded that he wouldn't consider the possibility that the guy might actually be innocent. When she suggested bringing the Ex and the kid over Wes really didn't know if it was a good idea or not, it could calm Andy down or it could have the opposite effect, he didn't know. He wasn't a cop or a negotiator and hand no idea the procedure for handling a situation like this one, "Whatever you think best, Detective." He replied using as neutral a voice as he could so as not to alert Andy to what they were planing. "Of course." He answered when she asked him to go over statements, "Okay, I'll pull the records and let you know what I find." He replied in regards to the medical records. It was a good course of action to take and right now was their best avenue to explore. "Yes." He began when she asked if he was alright. He had been better and he was understandably afraid, but things could be worse inside the room, "No one is hurt." he finished. "I'll work on those files and see what I can find, and you." He looked to Andy again who was hovering by him listening to his side of the conversation, "...work on things your end." He said wording it discreetly so Andy wouldn't catch on. "What did she say? What did she want?" Andy asked with detectable suspicion after the phone call ended. Wesley explained their plan to go over witness statements and medical records to see if there were any overlaps or oversights to which Andy had no objections. Wesley immediately rifled through the file cabinets and got everything he could find on the case, he started reading through it ALL looking for something that would prove either way if Andy was innocent. Hopefully it would buy Jia enough time to pull the medical records her end and to get the family down here before Andy started growing impatient. Tag: Jia Lei Yang |

Jia smiled though she knew Wesley could never see, he had a point. It could be a whole lot worse but she was glad so far things seemed to be relatively okay for a hostage situation. “It could be but I’m glad you’re alright.” She said not wanting him to panic or for her to say the wrong thing to cause that. It was tough enough being outside as she could only imagine what it would be like on the inside of that closed door she was looking at. “I know, we might be looking for something that doesn’t exist but I’ve got a feeling. This doesn’t sit right and this stunt, it’s too crazy for something not to be wrong.” She said not sure she should be saying it but then taking over the lawyers offices. It was a crazy plan and Andy had to know he was unlike to get out of it without jail time or worse. To her it spoke of desperation and people who had served their time for a crime they did commit she doubted wanted to prove their innocence this badly. Jia wanted to tell Wesley she was far from a negotiator but in her head it might be easier to have everyone in one place. If Andy wanted to prove he was innocent then many having the child there too might help he realise he was going about things the wrong way. “Thanks, it might shed light but I know it’s extra work.” She said hearing Wesley’s neutral voice. “Good to hear, if you need anything I’m right out here and I’m talking about you not Andy okay. If you need anything call even if you have to relate it to the case.” She wanted him to know that there were options there for him if he wanted to ask for anything or get anything. It might be awkward but then she was always up for doing puzzles. When the phone call ended Jia started making calls to track down the ex and the daughter as she made sure some squad cars were going to go pick them up as she sat at the desk and started to read through the paper work they had managed to gather from their side of the door. Jia waited impatiently for the medical records to arrive, it seemed to take forever until a sweaty faced cop came bounding in with a file. Barely able to talk he thrust the file under his nose as Jia thanked him for the medical records as she started to take out x-rays and the doctor’s notes for each set for the daughter and mother. “Hey Andy, I’m about to call again. Need to ask you some questions.” Jia called out to the shut door as she glanced at another set of x-rays wincing at the sight of the injuries. She had to ask the man the question, to see if he had raised a hand to either the wife or child though given the injuries she saw it would take a special sort of person to inflict that damage and show no remorse for it. Jia picked up the phone as she dialled in again. Wesley Van De Camp,

Wesley listened as she said again how she felt something was wrong and that a guilty man wouldn't go this far to prove his innocence. Again Wesley thought she had a point but he still wasn't totally convinced and needed a little more to win him over before he would believe Andy wasn't guilty. When Jia said about it being extra work he just let out a little discouraged laugh, "Extra paperwork is the least of my problems right now, Detective." He replied. Right now he was being held in a room by a man with a gun who had a criminal record and if doing a little extra work was going to help get himself and everyone else out then he didn't have a problem doing it. It was the not knowing if everyone was going to make it out of this alive that bothered him, and the fear that he might not see his family or his loved ones again. Until he was out of that room the sick feeling in his stomach and the worry in his mind wasn't going to go anywhere, but Jia's words helped to soothe his mind a little bit when she told him she was right outside. It helped knowing someone was right outside the door trying to get everyone out safe and it did help him feel like he wasn't alone when she told him to let her know if he needed anything. He knew she meant it and that she was honestly looking out for him and cared about his needs. He truly appreciated it, but he was unable to express his gratitude or Andy would start asking questions, "I understand, I'll get you what you need as soon as I can." He replied, sounding like he was talking about the information Jia had asked him for, but he was really saying he would let her know if he needed anything. Once he put down the phone Wesley started going over everything Jia had asked him to. At first it all only seemed to prove Andy's guilt, but then Wesley noticed something that could be nothing at all or could be something and he started to look into it. Again Andy jumped a little when Jia called out through the door when he wasn't expecting it. Wesley closed his eyes for a brief moment then sighed, she really needed to stop startling the man with the gun like that before it made him accidentally fire the weapon, "Hello?" He said answering her call. "What do you need to ask me now, huh?" He asked, wondering why the police were still asking him questions and not the father. Tag: Jia Lei Yang . |

Jia smiled when she heard Wesley said the extra paperwork was the least of his problems. “You’re telling me but you’re doing great so just hang in there. We’ll have you out in no time and then you can sign my warrant.” She joked though in all seriousness she still required her paperwork but like Wesley had said. It was the least of their problems right at that moment. The man with a gun holding everyone hostage was the problem right now and one Jia hoped to be able to fix even if it was just to find the man guilty a second time. She hardly wanted that to happen but stranger things had and despite the fact she had no family that cared much about her. She was glad she was on the outside of the situation. Despite the fact that Jia was on the outside of the door never for a second did she think that she was going to let anyone on the other side of the door think they were alone. No they were all in this together and Wesley was her guy on the inside of this so making sure he was alright was a main priority and that he had everything he needed. “Got it.” Jia said when she spoke about getting her what she needed. It must have been difficult to talk with a gun in the room but she appreciated it. Jia poured over the medical records, it all stated what she had feared. The abuse claims were correct as she saw images and files that she would never wish on anyone. Things a child should never have had to go through and if this was Andy who had done it, she would shoot the guy herself without losing a wink of sleep over it. Then things started to come apart a little, first, second third and fifth glance all said that Andy did it. The evidence was there, the dates, the images and it all painted one horrific picture that she hardly liked the look of. Was he a complete monster, was there any hope for the people inside that room? She needed to ask him out right to find out if she was being lied to, Jia was hardly infallible but she could read people to a reasonable degree. Believing them was a different kettle of fish but she had every reason to believe Andy was doing this for the truth. “Hey Andy.” Jia said trying to sound happy, “Andy I need to ask you to tell me the truth here. Outright, right now. Did you or did you not raise a hand to your wife or child?” She asked him deciding it was best to just be direct. “Think carefully as to how you answer that and let me ask something else. What is the best thing about your ex wife and child?” She asked him, sure love could be faked but saying something nice about someone if you truly despised them. That was a tough one she figured so either way it might give a better idea as she came across records previous to the time Andy was with his ex, well this was new she thought as she kept digging as she waited to hear what he said. "Yeah?" Andy asked when Jia said his name with a happy tone. He listened, but it really didn't sit well when she asked if he had ever raised a hand them. "Seriously? Seriously?!!" He yelled at her down the phone. On hearing Andy, Wesley looked up from his paperwork to see the look on the guys face. He didn't know what Jia had said but Andy's stance and body language wasn't good at all. The man still had a gun in his hand and now he was all kinds of mad, which served to fill Wesley and everyone else in the room with a sense of worry and concern. "OF COURSE I NEVER RAISED A HAND TO THEM!" He shouted at her, "Have you listened to a word I have said?" He exclaimed. Through his anger he barley heard her ask him to name the best thing about them, "Andrea was the light of my life! I was just a nobody getting on with my life then she let me be a part of her's. She let me be part of her family and she didn't care I was a nine to five lackey and not a rich suit." He replied, talking about his ex, " And Rachel is my angel. She's so innocent and sweet. She gave me her trust and relied on me to take care of her, do you know what thats like detective? Do you know what it's like when your kid looks up at you with those beautiful eyes and calls you 'Daddy'?" He ranted. But the rant showed he was being genuine. If he didn't truly care then he wouldn't be getting angry. "I never touched them. I said at the begging but no one would listen. That's why I had to do this and still no one is listening! Do I have to shoot someone to get you to listen to me?" He asked, before raising his arm and pointing the gun at Wesley part way across the room. Wesley's hart sank. His eyes widened and he frowned in fear as Andy's finger went on the tiger, "No. Wait, wait!" He said in a panicked tone. Holding both hands out in a kind of 'stop' motion, a few sheets of paperwork clenched in one hand, "I found something." He added quickly. Andy kept the gun on him but held off pulling the trigger. "I found something and I need her to look into it. Please don't do anything stupid." Andy thought for a moment before lowering the gun and holding out the phone. Wesley exhaled in relief, then quickly walked over and took the phone. "Detective." His voice was clear but a little shaken. "I need you to find out how long it takes for bruising to show after an injury." Wesley had noticed a pattern and if he was right it meant that Jia was right in her belief that Andy was innocent. Jia knew the minute she had asked that question it had been the wrong thing though she needed to know what he said. She believed Andy but then she was human at the end of the day, she believed in dragons, terracotta armies and magical things because her mother had told her about them. Jia believed in the great beyond and aliens simply because there was little to no evidence to disprove it enough for her so why not believe that this mad never hurt his family. It was what he was saying and Jia believed him, she simply needed to know that it was the truth and not some fanciful story he had made up and believed himself. “I have Andy I have but I need to hear it from you.” Jia said wanting to calm things down as a man with a gun who was angry was going to be tough to reason with. Jia sat and listened to Andy talk about Andrea being the light of his life, she knew that feeling herself until the light had been taken from her. The feeling of belonging and the family that gave her that sense too yet everything he said about his wife and Rachel, it made sense to her. She could hear no tone or word that would have given her a sense that he was being anything but honest with them. “No I don’t Andy; I know what it’s like to lose the best thing in your life and to be powerless to do anything about it.” Jia said as she took a much needed breath. “I believe you Andy I just needed to hear you talk about them.” She explained hoping it would make sense though when he asked if he had to shoot anyone Jia struggled to find anything else to say other than no. “No, Andy don’t you don’t have to because I believe you.” She said panicked as she listened to Wesley’s panicked tone too. “Listen to him Andy please listen.” Jia pleaded as she heard Wes say he had found something, she had no idea if he had or if he was just trying to help the situation but she hoped he had done. “Andy let me see what Wesley has found please don’t hurt anyone, it’s not you.” She said curious as to what Wesley had seen in the files when she heard his voice she breathed a sigh of relief. “I’ll find out just hang on.” Jia said as she typed into the computer in front of her. “You okay in there still?” She asked knowing that okay was relative but still alive was okay right now. “Okay from what I can understand, it all depends on the type of injury but we’re looking at a time line of Redness/swelling - immediate to 2 days, blue/purple - 2 to 5 days, green - 5 to 7 days, yellow - 7 to 10 days and brown fading over time - 10 to 14 days" Jia explained reading what she had found in front of her. “Tell me you’ve found something good for this guy?” Jia asked hoping Wes had found the answer for this or at least a start point to prove Andy’s innocence. Wesley listened as Jia told him the information he had asked for regarding bruising with a silent, pensive frown on his face as she spoke. It looked as if she had been right all along, it seemed Andy was innocent after all. Once she had finished he broke his silence and responded, "Then I think you were right." He said, letting the evidence change his opinion, "There is a pattern. Rachel would spend time in her father's custody as arranged, and a day or so after she was back in Andy's custody she would get bruises, which led to social services being called." He began. "But look at the photos in the medical reports. All the bruises documented take days to appear, meaning any abuse took place before she was back home with Andy and her Mother."Andy perked up a little as he heard what Wesley was saying. He took a few steps closer as he listened skeptically. Wesley moved a couple of pages of one of the reports back and forth a few times, looking at it as he talked, "That was picked up by the defense, but it looks like the prosecution brought in some junk science consultant to explain away the bruising and no one stopped to question it properly." He continued. He was less that impressed with the poor level of investigation he was finding as he read over the court case. "Someone needs to look into the father and anyone else who could have abused Rachel while she wasn't in Andy's and her mothers custody." He finished. If they were going to prove Andy innocent, then they needed to be able to prove someone else was guilty. Tag: Jia Lei Yang . |

“Wait what?” Jia asked not for the sense of trying to rub it in that she might have been right but with everything that had happened after she believed Andy it was nice to hear another person say she could have been correct with her assumption. Jia had never been great with following evidence, she did it to a point yet she believed the human spirit had a lot to do with things. The evidence could lie, she knew it all too well but a gut feeling it was what she had used in the military and what she used now. She had those days when she could never have been further from the truth but then there were those days when a feeling was all she had and it worked for her. Andy, it was a feeling and what he had done, a guilty person might walk away and skulk off into the distance but Andy was there trying to help his family. “So Andy just got the short end of the stick because that was when the bruising showed.” Jia said almost gleefully, it was strange to be happy to know when someone had been hurt but in this case it was likely to help a whole lot more people than the mother and daughter. “Can we get a judge to have the verdict over turned on this evidence? We need that before I can arrest the husband or the crime technically has still been solved.” Jia said almost with a sense of defeat as she heard one of the other cops say the mother and daughter were about five minutes away from the court house. “Hey Wesley, great work there. You’re doing great.” Jia said positively, “Any chance I can ask another favour because I need you to speak to Andy and see if anyone else had access to Rachel that he knows of.” Jia asked knowing it might not be easy but it needed to be done. “I’ve got the mother and Rachel five minutes away but I can look through the paperwork see who else was interviewed in regards to the beginning of the investigation.” Jia explained glad that they were seeming to get a break in things. Andy might even lay down the gun he had a show of faith in them for getting this far or she hoped he might but then, until she had something more concrete she felt asking that might only make things worse if it all went wrong. Wesley didn't fail to note the tone of surprise in her voice when he agreed with her. But it looked as if Jia had been right even if Wes hadn't agreed to begin with, but neither of them had time for 'I told you so' right now. They had to find the evidence and convince other people before it was too late. "It's a start." He answered when she asked if it would be enough to overturn the ruling, "But we need more to take to a judge. We need to get some evidence." He told her, "Our strongest chance would be if you can collect the evidence and arrest the true offender." If they needed to go to a judge and say Andy was innocent, they really needed to be able to point at someone else and say that guy is the guilty one. It was reassuring to hear when Jia told Wesley that he was doing great, but when she asked him to find out who had access to Rachel he glanced at Andy, and more so the gun in his hand. Having a conversation with his armed captor wasn't the most calming prospect, but he knew it needed to be done, "Yes of course." He replied, though his voice wasn't filled with eagerness or confidence. He nodded when she said the girls were 5 minutes away, not that Jia could see it. And he listened when she said she would look into things her end and see who was interviewed. "Okay, Detective." He replied. "You keep working on things your end and I'll work on things my end." He answered. He just hoped she knew what she was doing bringing the family down. He just hoped she knew what she was doing full stop. He was relying on her to get everyone out alive and he was just trusting her in whatever she asked him to do. Once he had finished talking to Jia he put the phone down and slowly turned to Andy, "Okay, Andy. We have a start proving you didn't hurt your family. Now I need to ask you some questions." He said, being very careful as he talked to the man. "We need to know who had access to Rachel and when." He began. "We need to determine who could have the opportunity to have hurt her.""I told you, here father is the one who hurt her!" Andy replied with frustration. His tone and body movements doing nothing to put Wesley at ease. "I know that. But please understand there is a procedure we need to follow so that no-one can call the integrity of the investigation into question when we take this to a judge." He quickly explained, trying to prevent Andy growing angry. It seemed to have worked because Andy sighed and began thinking who had been around his daughter as he rubbed his forehead with the back of his hand that he was holding the gun in. A start, Jia almost wanted to cite the many reason why the justice system seemed to unfair though it was the system she trusted in. This time however it appeared to have gone wrong but then one instance out of the man it dealt with was remarkable. “Okay I can do that, find the evidence and arrest the true culprit. Would signed statements do okay for that?” Jia asked hoping it would be evidence or at least the start of the trail. Jia smiled when Wesley agreed to ask who else had access to Rachel though he barely sounded confident about it. “Wesley, you’ve got this. I know you do.” Jia said trying to be supportive over a phone, hardly the easiest thing to do but Wes had the shorter end of the stick dealing with the guy with the gun. “It’ll be alright.” Jia knew it was of little comfort but she had faith that they would get out of that room alive. She had to believe it because Andy was not the person they thought he was so a killer, desperate times and all but she doubted he would be able to pull the trigger. Jia waited for the family to arrive as she heard the doors ping to the lift, finally she thought as she saw the mother and daughter step put surrounded by police. Jia went through the formalities of everything, as the ex wife seemed horrified that Andy was in the next room. “Now I need the truth because the people in that room are relying on it.” Jia stated, “Your ex is in that room holding hostages because he believes he is innocent and now we do too.” Jia explained as she saw some of the cops move away from the door and make way for another group. Now was really not the time to add more people to the mix she thought as she moved Rachel and her mother to some seats with an officer as Jia went to investigate what was going on. “Hey, who’s moving who? Keep your distance from that door and don’t touch anything unless I tell you to.” Jia stated glancing at a few of the faces as she could see the tactical gear of another office she was unaware off before. “What are you doing here?” Jia almost demanded as she glanced at the unknown faces. This was here scene and her issue to solve it, first there it was a thing she was sure. Jia also felt like they were getting somewhere with things, they now knew Andy could be telling the truth and who else could have hurt Rachel. She just needed the wife or Rachel to confirm it for her or at least point the finger in the right direction. Adding extra officers to the plot, this was going to get complicated fast she thought watching them. Wesley Van De Camp,

"Yes. Signed statements would be a good start, Detective." He replied to her question. Right now he'd take anything he could, and after all this time statements and testimonies might be all they would have to work with as most physical evidence had probably vanished by now. Wesley swallowed silently when Jia reassured him that he could do this and told him that it would all be ok. Her words served him as much of a comfort as they could coming from the other end of a phone and he believed her. He trusted what she said and he was relying on her to get him out of that room with his life. Andrea stepped out of the lift. A worried and confused expression on her face as she kept her hands on Rachel's shoulders, keeping her close and keeping her safe, "What's going on?" She asked Jia. She herd Andy had taken hostages but hadn't been told any more. She put a hand over her mouth and sniffled back some tears as she listened to Jia explain that Andy was doing this because he believed he was innocent. "You believe he is innocent too?" She asked confused, "Why would they send him to jail if he is innocent?" This was a lot for her to take in. This morning she was making waffles for her daughter now she was being thrown into the middle of a hostage situation. But before she could say anything else an armed tactical team came steaming in and started setting up shop, "I'm Sgt. Lockwood." He replied when Jia demanded to know who these new faces was, flashing his ID to show her they was the cops trained to deal with hostage situations and not arson cases. "I hear you've kept everyone alive in there so far detective. Good work but we will be taking it from here." He informed her just before motioning to his men to find and set up vantage points and a work station. "Has he made any demands yet? Given you any deadlines?" He asked, catching up to speed on the situation. He saw Andrea with her daughter and could clearly tell she was a civilian "Who is that?" He asked Jia. His priority was to clear the scene of all unnecessary personnel and establish communication with Andy. Meanwhile Wesley was inside with Andy totally oblivious to what was going on the other side of the door. "I don't know." Andy replied, rubbing his forehead in tired frustration as he tried to think who could and would have hurt Rachel. "I'm telling you it's him, he's the one who hurt her.""I believe you, I just need you to give me something to work with here. We can't afford to make any mistakes this time." Wesley replied, treading very lightly as he talked to Andy. He believed the man's innocence now but he still wasn't convinced that he wasn't going to shoot anyone. "I don't know, she took dance lessons. And she went to her friends' houses after school." He offered weakly, but there was always other kids and other people around so he couldn't see anyone having the opportunity to hurt his daughter. Then he thought, "She does have a lesson with a private touter once a week.""Okay, good." Wesley nodded. Even if Andy was right in his unwavering belief that the father was guilty they could still rule everyone else so there would be no doubts in court. Tag: Jia Lei Yang , |

“Okay, I’ll get those.” Jia said feeling as if she was as far out of her depth with this as she ever had been. The military at least she knew what she was dealing with, trained or not trained. A locked door and a man who had virtually nothing to lose that scared her plus the fact that people beyond that door were trusting her to fix it. Not exactly her usual arson scene of charred debris and smoked filled rooms that were usually unrecognizable. Jia smiled when she saw Andrea and Rachel though explaining all of this. How did she even begin that conversation? “I need you to keep calm Andrea, I’m Detective Yang and we’re trying to get Andy out of that room alive and without hurting anyone.” Jia explained hoping not to freak Andrea out any more than the situation likely was doing. “I believe there might have been a mistake in our system and we’re trying to work that out. Believe me if he’s guilty of this, Andy will be going away for a long time but if he’s innocent.” Jia said as she took a breath, “If he’s innocent the person who hurt your daughter is still out there.” Jia knew it was likely of little comfort and no one would want to believe that a mistake had been made but the evidence was adding up in Andy’s favour. Jia was about to explain the reasoning behind it all when Sgt. Lockwood explained who he was. She took a look at his ID before sighing, the cowboys were here she thought though never voiced that given the present company. “Urm, yeah about that... like hell.” Jia said not wanting to get into anyone’s business but Jia had Wesley to think of and adding a new voice or face to things might go wrong. “No, he just wants us to look at his case again. Which is what I’ve been doing and the case is falling apart from this side of the door so if you don’t mind. Go play catch up while I keep people alive.” Jia stated not liking Lockwood at all. Time and a place and sure he was her superior but then Jia had never really taken to not telling it how it was. She was meek and mild up to a point and this was a situation she was dealing with and trying to keep people alive without the use of Mr. I’m taking over. “That is Andy’s wife and daughter, we’re trying to get statements to see if the case is going to fall apart of if it will stand. So unless you have a magic want to do some detective work, stay out of my way.” Jia added glaring for good measure as she was sure she would be far from making friends and could only hope she would avoid needing Lockwood’s services. “Now Sgt. Lockwood, do you want to do this with me or do we have a problem?” Jia asked him before she turned back to Andrea. “I need you to be honest with me, what made you think Andy did this?” Jia asked Andrea, the wife always knew even if it was a feeling or a thought the wife knew. “Did anyone tell you to suspect him? Push you to that conclusion?” Jia asked her trying to gather as much as she could from her. Wesley Van De Camp,

Andrea's confused eyes widened with concern when Jia said they was trying to get Andy out alive, "Alive?" she asked, gripping on to Rachel shoulders tightly. Oh she hadn't thought of the possibility that Andy could be killed over this until that very moment. She listened with concern and confusion on her face as Jia went on to talk about a possible mistake in the system and how Andy would get what he deserved depending if he was innocent or not. Her face dropped even more when Jia suggested that the person that hurt Rachel could still be out there. Oh this was a nightmare and she didn't see how it could get much worse. Andrea thought for a moment but she was shaken and confused right now. As she looked back she wasn't sure how she had come to believe that Andy was the guilty one. "I-I." She stammered. "I don't know. The bruises appeared after Rachel had been with him...It couldn't have been my husband...the cops said." She looked Jia in the eyes as if the answers some would how be there that would make this all make sense. Sgt. Lockwood looked to Jia when she told him like hell he was taking over. Words that didn't make him smile when he heard them but he listened as she went to tell him who Andrea and Rachel was. Telling him that Andy had demanded another investigation and that she was getting a case together as well as keeping people alive. Sgt. Lockwood looked over at Andrea and Rachel with a light, but kind and assuring smile, "You two go with my officer here and have a seat outside and we'll come to you in a few minutes, okay?." He said in a tone designed to put the mother and daughter at ease. Andrea nodded and the girls followed the officer outside, Lockwood watched them go and the second they was out of ear shot he squared up against Jia, narrowing his brow as he looked at her, "Oh you're keeping people alive in there are you?" He asked in a less than light and fluffy tone. "So you're in charge here. huh? You're leading this negotiation are you?" He asked, clearly not happy with the way she thought she was in charge. "You're keeping everyone in there alive, huh? Because you could have fooled me." He began, "Because you are meeting the subject's demands and looking into his case but he hasn't given you anything in return. How long have you been 'negotiating' with this guy and he hasn't given you a single thing, he hasn't released one single hostage. That is not a negotiation, that's you just giving to the subject and cementing in his mind he can have whatever he wants if he waves his gun around enough." He continued, his voice stern. "You brought the Ex and the kid down here too? Do you have any idea how that could set the subject off?" He scolded. "But I guess they must have skipped that in arson negotiation class." He finished, making a point that she was an arson cop and had not been trained for this kind of situation. "You've kept everyone in there alive, I commend you for that. But you have also made made our job harder and I'm gonna have to clean up your mess." He told her honestly. "And if you don't like the hostage negotiators taking over this hostage negotiation, then yes, we're going to have a problem." He told her firmly but not condescendingly. "So how about you get on with your job and you let us do ours?" He didn't want an argument, and he wasn't out to pull rank and the 'I'm in charge here' attitude and throw it in Jia's face, but he had a job to do and lives that was his responsibility. Meanwhile Wesley was still inside doing his best to keep Andy calm and to get as much helpful information as he could. A task that was becoming harder and harder by the minute as he felt his muscles growing weaker, courtesy of his Myasthenia gravis. Another problem that added to Wesley's anxiety significantly, knowing that he was just going to steadily deteriorate from here. "I need to call Detective Yang and pass on the information on who had access to Rachel." He stated, looking to Andy for permission. Andy nodded, and having no ida that a response team had finally arrived outside Wesley dialed out to call Jia, totally oblivious to the power struggle that was taking place the other side of the door.
