After his conversation with Kelle, Steven had decided to do something daring for the day. It was his day off, the previous shift had been a nightmare and throughout all of that he still had the same partner for work as he did the day before. How he had no clue but she had stayed and he was in the mood to do something other than sit back and burry himself in his duvet and sleep for weeks on end. Another shift would be there soon enough and Steven was heading over to his sister’s house. It was in the hopes that Isla was home or he would make another trip to his other sister but he had an all expenses paid zip wire experience for the two of them. He was giving boring a leave of absence and he was trying his best to be interesting and spontaneous. It was unlike him but he was trying something new for the day, a zip wire was the craziest thing he could find to do and with that came the idea that he was not taking that leap alone. No it was about time he spent some quality time with Isla, even if it was to annoy her and question her about potential suitors. Steven made his way to her door as he knocked on it loudly. When it came to family he wanted them to know that he was around though he just hoped that she was. Going on a zip wire alone, yeah like that was going to happen. Steven stood back from the door with a grin on his face, the kind that always said he was up to something as for family he never tried to hide it. Better to be honest about it than to hide it. Besides it was day out and he was paying and yes it involved hanging off a rope at height but then what more could he do to be spontaneous. Tag: Isla Hudson

The wish bone's connected to the bag of bones and you don't make bones about skin and bones when it's bare bones in the bone yard...Sometimes, when she'd been studying too intently for too long, Isla was convinced that she was going to go stark raving mad, and then none of it wouldn't matter, she could just be admitted to Crestwood and live out her life happily behind locked doors. Now, the words in her 'Human Bone Manual' were running together and blurring into an intense headache that was making her ears ring even as she sang the jumbled words to the silly song she was improvising as she went. And if it wasn't for a stupid test the next day, she'd toss the whole thing aside and...well, something. Of course, knowing her luck the massive tome would fall on her foot and break bones! The knock on her door startled her out of the trance she'd been in, and she jumped involuntarily, the shook her head, chiding herself for being so tense as she got up and crossed the main room of her studio apartment that served as living space, study and bedroom. As soon as she saw her brother through the small peep-hole in the door, her headache faded, replaced by a grin. "Steven!" Flinging open the door, she grabbed him in a tight hug, then stepped back to let him in. "Come on in, what's up?" Steven Hudson

Steven grinned widely when he saw the door flung open and he was grabbed in a tight hug. It was the best greeting he had in a while for knocking on a door as he returned her hug just as enthusiastically. “Isla!” He said with a grin. Steven took a few steps into her place when he was invited as he shrugged before deciding he needed her to go zip lining with him so the truth was what it had to be. “I’ve a question, am I boring?” He asked before he realised that asking that particular question he might not want answered.
“Anyway, I’ve come to steal you away for a while. No arguments, besides you need a day out now and again.” He said in more of a ‘please let her have no plans’ tone. Spontaneous and not boring he thought to himself, better to do something useful than to waste a day away. He had seen enough of wasted days recently and if IA was going to be onto him about his little day’s adventure, if it was his last day of freedom then he wanted to spend it with family.
“So what have you been doing?” He asked her as he glanced around trying to see anything obvious like redecorating and the like. He was being his usual pain in the backside self before he went all big brother on her. Family was everything and he tried to look after his family as best he could, be they two years old or seventy two it would never change.

"Boring?" Isla shook her head at that. "No, never, who said that?" Heck, he saved lives and played in burning buildings for a living, how was that boring? He was a real-life living hero, and her big brother, he could never be boring! "Anyway, I need to study, and...and..." What? Drive herself crazy with too much studying then be so burned and stressed out that she couldn't function? "I don't know...I guess..." Then a wide grin crossed her lips as she nodded.. "Okay, sure, I've been looking for an excuse to take a break, so, yeah. Just let me change." She ducked behind the folding screen that separated the sleeping area of the studio apartment from the living area, talking to him as she slipped into jeans and a light shirt. "Haven't had time or budget to do much, but I want to get one of those loft beds, you know, like a bunk bed with a desk under it, make the most of the room here." She hopped back around the divider. "Tah dah!" Smiling, she flung her arms out and struck a pose, then laughed. "So, what's the plan? Or is it a surprise?" It wasn't often she took the luxury of being spontaneous and to have a day out with her brother, so this was a real treat! Steven Hudson

Steven nodded as he watched Isla shake her head. “Just a conversation about time off, you know how it goes.” He explained not really wanting to recount a four AM conversation but then it had him thinking a lot about his time off and he really did play it safe. “When I get time off I guess I just... don’t do anything that interesting.” He said before he gave Isla a look when she mentioned studying. On any other day he would have been proud to hear her say that not that he was anything other than proud of her.
Seeing her wide grin he nodded to her, “Exactly so take a break and you never know besides too much studying isn’t good either.” He said with a wink, he had tried to cram for all of his studying but he found he forgot most of what he had learned previously when he tried to do too much before an exam. When she ducked behind the folding screen Steven turned his back slightly to make sure she had privacy. Listening to her he sighed, time and budget were big things when it came to doing anything out of the ordinary.
“You know all you have to do is ask Isla, I’ll get you the loft bed if you want?” He offered knowing that whatever his sisters wanted he was more than happy to do or get for them if he could. “We could go find one after we finish the super spontaneous none boring thing I’ve got planned.” He stated as he turned around hearing the Tah dah. He laughed and grinned seeing her arms flung out and the pose. Life could never be boring or anything other than happy with Isla as he found himself smiling.
A day out with his sister was going to do him a world of good. “Plan is... well no plan but are you good with heights? And some speed or maybe just flying in general?” He asked deciding that telling her right away was probably going to give him one less thing to tease her with.

Oh, well, whatever he was proposing sounded intriguing, and Isla did have a spirit for adventure and she knew that whatever he had planned would probably help her be able to focus more later on her studies. "Heights are all right," she shrugged with an uncertain smile. Sure, she did the parkour, but actually, she avoided extreme heights, and wasn't at all into jumping off roofs or anything crazy. "I'm chill..." Well, yeah, there was that streak in her that would attempt about anything just because she wanted to prove she could, even if it scared the crap out of her...and she knew her big brother wouldn't do anything that could kill her. "And hey, maybe I'll get a chance to practice naming bones...they're still the same even of they're broken, right?" Grinning, she grabbed her keys, wallet and cell, then headed for the door. "You don't have to get me anything....but..." flashing him a playful smile, she shrugged, "if you insist, we can at least look." While she didn't like 'charity', she knew that wasn't what he was offering and that he enjoyed helping her out, and she would never take advantage of that by choosing anything extravagant. And she knew that once she got her nursing degree she'd be able to repay him in kind, one way or another. "Lead on, I'm ready for your devious plot!" Steven Hudson,

Steven grinned at her uncertain smile, she did Parkour, there was little that would make him throw himself self off anything more than a sofa at any height. He wondered if she thought he would actually do anything that crazy that it might actually endanger her. Life was a list of uncertainties but he would never do anything to put her in danger. If anything he did everything he could to help her avoid it.
“Chill works.” He said doing his best impression of cool which was about twenty years out of date. Down with kids he was not, understanding their language not so much either and cool well he was a far step away from that on his best day. Cold was more like it but how badly wrong could the zip wire go, really there were harnesses, helmets and hold on to the thing. Then again if he was to read all the safety notices about life in general he was sure he would have his sisters in bubble wrap and they would never leave the house.
Steven gave her a ‘seriously’ look when she spoke about naming bones and the same bones if broken. “Yeah they are the same broken, just a lot more painful to have.” He answered with a grin as he followed her to the door. Fingers crossed for no broken bones he thought as he nodded. He saw her playful smile and he nodded, “Yeah yeah we can look then buy, I’m trying to be spontaneous today so be prepared for that.” He was attempting it anyway though really how spontaneous could he get with house hold items that were needed.
To offer her the ‘charity’ route had never been this thing, he was helping her out and that was all that mattered to him. If was in the same situation he was sure she would lend him a hand so while he could he would do just that. Steven never wanted repayment for anything, just to see her happy and well looked after was payment enough for him. Steven stepped out of her place as he led the way to the car. “Just swear you won’t back out of this, I’m not doing it on my own.” He warned though really with the shift he had finished, throwing himself off a platform hanging from a wire was sounding better and better.

"Um...yeah, sure, no backing out." Isla looked up at him a little uncertainly, not sure what he was getting at...after all, she had every confidence that he wouldn't get her into anything that would hurt her...and him as well...and besides, he was a firefighter, there was nothing that scared him, right? "But you know," she added with a playful grin, "if we get killed during your mystery-date then we won't have to figure out how to assemble a bed-desk thingy, right?" Grinning, she grabbed her keys and followed him out, locking up as they went. "And if we do survive, I'll buy us lunch, okay?" It was the least she could do for him, short of actually doing the cooking herself, and there wasn't time for that...and it was better than letting him fend for himself, she knew the kind of junk he tended to eat and if she could mother hen him now and then, she would! “No, no backing out but you know I wouldn’t put you in danger. Right?” He asked her, Steven never scared easily and even if he was he always tried not to show it. He knew how that went if a patient knew he was just as terrified as they were. Then he was hardly in the habit of putting his own family in danger and especially not his baby sister. He would do everything he could to keep her out of it which was why he was glad she was studying to be a nurse, a nice safe profession.
“You know getting killed is sounded better... but I think if we did I’d rather go out a different way.” He said having an image of falling off the zip wire to his death, perhaps doing this was not his best idea. Tempting fate with having to make that ‘yeah boss, not in tomorrow I fell of a zip wire’ he doubted Boden would let that one go as suddenly a bed-desk assembly job looked like a lot of fun.
Steven grinned at the offer of lunch, “Sure I will make sure we survive just to make it to lunch.” So he enjoyed his food a little too much but it was worth not getting killed at a high to make it to lunch time. Steven had a bad habit of eating anything pre packed; not that he stayed away from salads but for the ease of time and speed healthy often never came into things. It was fast food or just grab something off the street in between calls, not that he complained but the one thing he knew was to never ask what was in it.

"Sounds like a plan then!" Grinning, she walked beside him as they walked out to the parking lot. "So, your car or mine?" It was fun to kid him about riding in her crappy little KIA, that barely had any leg-room for him, and his head touched the ceiling...and, of course, she always made a point of hitting the bumps so he smacked his head. There was even a dent forming from the impacts! "Oh, and I've been practicing my parallel parking, I can show you that, too!" Her grin brightened. Last time he'd tried to teach her that, she'd nearly killed him...and he'd been on the sidewalk! "Come to think if it, you really do like adventure...or have a death wish!" Steven Hudson,

Steven smirked when she asked about whose car to take, he swore he head a thick skull for a reason and the Kia was the cause of it. There were some days when he had no idea how anyone managed to get into the Kia but then it made for a fun trip not knowing when his head would go through the roof of it. Steven glanced between the cars; his was the Ford Taurus, nothing fancy just practical four doors and leg room.
“Since you’re going to show me your parallel parking, you can pick the car.” He said as he offered her his keys as he grinned back at her. He remembered the near death experience in teaching her how to park, the best part was he was on the sidewalk and not in the car. Maybe the car was going to be safest place to be when she showed him. He could hardly hide his grin, “Yeah, I do like adventure but teaching you how to park, phew that was something else. Glad you’ve been practicing though and any chance for the parking show, can I be inside the car this time?” He asked chuckling lightly.
He knew that teaching her thing like that was his responsibility, after all it was a life skill and the one thing he wanted was for her to have best chance at facing the world and if that meant ten more near death experiences then so be it. “Speaking of cars, how about once you pass your nursing course I get you a new car? State of the art kind, I hear they can even talk these days and maybe park themselves?” He said teasing her with a grin though he knew he would do just that. After all having his sister driving around in a her Kia, he would be happier knowing she had a more up to date car to drive.

"A new car, really?" She looked up at him with a grin as she snatched the keys and ran to his car. "In that case," she called to him, "I don't need to learn to park, or stop, or drive or any of that!"
Opening the door, she climbed in and fired up the engine. "All right, Starsky, get in, Huggy Bear is waiting!"
But then she paused to look at him with a shrug. "Um, I don't know where we're going or what our big adventure is going to be.. Guess you'll have to tell me now, right?"
(Sorry it's short, have some things going on in life, but figured some was better than none!)

Steven laughed and nodded, “Yeah a new car, well you deserve it so why not.” He said laughing again as she snatched the keys and ran to his car. What had he let himself in for he wondered. “Woah no, it doesn’t drive for you just helps you. You still need to know the basics, forward, backward and if you go sideways it’s wrong.” He teased with a grin as he got into the passenger seat.
“Ooh Starsky I like that.” He said with a grin as he fastened his seatbelt. “What Huggy Bear needs directions, well in that case you might want to head out to 1100 Ogden Avenue, Western Springs.” He said not sure if she knew what the address was, Treetop adventure and the outdoor experience and the biggest zip wire he thought existed. Maybe if he survived the car ride then the zip wire would be a walk in the park.
“You’ll know the place when you see it.” He said trying to be mysterious though he still had no idea if she knew where he was talking about or not. “So let’s go Huggy Bear.” He said as he leaned over to her and hugged her shoulder for a moment.

"Whatever you say, big brother!" Isla grinned, putting the car into gear then tromping on the gas just for the effect as she burned rubber backing out of the space. "Oh, sorry...I guess I don't know my own driving strength! Oh, or maybe we're going to be playing 'Fast and Furious'?" She headed out of the parking lot in the direction he'd indicated, knowing it was out of town, but not really certain what was there that was going to be interesting in a life-threatening sort of way! "You know, maybe I should have a big truck, like an F150 or something, so I have some protection in case I ram into something...or a little sports car, then I can just zip around and dodge everything! What do you think?" She was teasing, of course, she'd never let him buy her a car, although it wasn't as if anyone 'let' Steven do, or not do, anything! Steven Hudson

Steven grabbed onto the seat as she put the car into gear and then the burned rubber, who said he never lived life dangerously? Steven laughed and rolled his eyes, “Just keep your eyes on the road Vin Diesel and if we fly then I’m arresting you myself.” He stated, if he just relaxed into it then it would all be fine he told himself wondering if she was going to take off at a crazy speed.
“So you want to drive a tank.” He stated thoughtfully as he nodded, “Sports car, woah with the way you take off in this thing the tank looks good to me. All the safety features and I might even have it kitted out to be proofed for everything.” He said though for that part he was joking a little less, if it was up to him then she would drive a tank to make sure she was save from everyone else on the road or at least safe from herself in a car though he doubted she was that bad.
Steven knew she was never going to let him but then he didnt exactly need permission to do it, more like just drop it off one morning and leave her the keys. That way there was no taking it back unless she wanted it swapped for something else then he would make an exception. “And your perfect car would be?” He asked her at least wanting a starting point for it or the tank it would be.
