we've lost it all
Matt was doing everything he could think to do in a situation like this. Gabby was the one he was worried about, not to say that he wasnt worried about Kelly. "Gabby, you aren't going to lose anyone. Do you really think Kelly would turn his back on this house? Hypothetically, if he had taken that job in Springfield do you really think he would have stopped talking to anyone of us here?" Matt knew better.
Matt didn't hate Brittany and he'd come to trust her over the last year or so when it came to having a handle on Kelly. The woman was hormonal right about now and he could understand her need to be a bit pushy. He knew dang well that Gabby would be the same and wouldn't even need the hormones. Matt just stroked her hair as he tried to get Gabby to relax. Though he knew as soon as he tempted the fate of the alarm it was all over.
Matt hardly had a say what happened with squad, he was glad that Harris and Taylor were not his problems. Matt had no issues at being the hypocrite right now. Especially, if it kept Gabby preoccupied. Hopefully, his mission had been accomplished because his radio crackled from the floor. 'Lieutenant we have this crazy nut job outside who insists that he needs someone to come fix his tire. He called me an old man and told me ta get lost.' Hermann's voice made Matt roll his eyes as he grabbed the radio.
"Give me a minute Hermann," he set the radio down and reached out smirking at Gabby. "You ready to go play Momma bear?" Handing her the radio he smiled. Oh, he was going to be right behind her.

Gabby was angry with a lot of things and seeing Kelly do this to himself or whatever it was that was happening to him the only way she knew was to go head on into it. It explained a large portion of her arguments with others but Gabby always felt that the straight forward bull in a china shop approach was the best way forward. “Yesterday, I would have said no but today... Kelly belongs here with his family Matt. There’s been too much change in this house to lose him and I don’t want to go visit him anywhere but his office that’s here at fifty one.” She stated firmly, she would dig her heals in about it if she needed to.
All in all the fate of the alarm it was a harsh call back to reality when the radio crackled. He had done a great job in distracting her long enough for her to forget why she had been so angry in the first place. Matt was safe, there was no fire, Kelly was well Kelly and Brittany, it was likely better that she just left that name where it was. Her description was likely not to be as forgiving as the others given that Gabby wanted to tear shreds out of the woman for ever thinking about hurting Matt.
The one thing she knew how to do well was to be protective of her family and that was what she had done. Gabby rolled her eyes as Hermann started explained about a crazy nut job, Gabby found herself smiling at the thought of Hermann being called an old man. Old no way, Hermann was around twenty if anyone had to keep up with him it was a lesson she had learned the hard way as a candidate. The man was entirely deceiving, the outer shell hardly matched the inner one and that was all Gabby knew about it.
She chuckled when Matt spoke and set the radio down, Gabby grabbed her things as she made herself presentable and smirked right back at Matt as she moved closer to him. “As long as you’re ready to go play papa bear?” She stated as she kissed him for a moment before moving away as she tapped his behind playfully before flicking her hair over her shoulder and unlocking the door as she stepped out. It could have been a simple discussion on the oxygen tanks to anyone who looked her way though if only all tank discussions were like that she thought.

Kelly's eyes flickered as Brittany told him to stop with the what ifs, assuring him that he wasn't his mother and that she had been married to him long enough to see how he responded to and handled people. He then chuckled as she pointed out that even their daughter agreed with her. "Okay," he stated. Okay, so he wasn't really sure what to think, but he trusted Brittany. Hell, he trusted her just as much as he had trusted Shay. Shay. Damn, he missed her. Want her back, he thought to himself. However, he knew that wasn't ever going to happen.
When she told him that he wasn't going to screw anything up, he looked at her in confusion. "How can you be so sure?" he wondered. He wasn't. And besides, everyone knew that he was hardly father material. According to a lot of people, he was too much like Benny. Plus there was the risk of him turning into mother. The odds were stacked against him. However, Brittany didn't seem to think so. Just gonna have to go with her gut I guess, he thought to himself. Not that he knew for sure that his wife was reacting solely on instinct, but something told him she was. And he was just going to have to trust it. It was hard though. He supposed that was why it was called faith. And he had a lot of faith in Brittany. More faith than he had in himself, even.
He then nodded as she assured him that leaving Fifty-One didn't mean that he had to cut off all ties with his friends, but that he deserved to have a little room to think about things, adding that the chief over at Twenty-Three had just left, which meant that he'd be close to the old house, saying that she could make a few calls. It's what I need, he determined. "You're right. It's what I need. Let's make the call," he stated. Maybe he'd drop in on Fifty-One from time to time, but probably not anytime soon. He'd need the time away to get his head together.
