With the fed gone Lou decided that arguing with her husband was probably not a smart idea, but then again Hank threatening a fed wasn't much better. "Sweetheart" Lou's voice was quiet. "Let Debra handle the not so brilliant fed" she suggested. Telling him NOT to do something when he was protective. Yeah no. But she wasn't exactly going to condone him threatening federal agents either. He was upset so she didn't call him out on it. Lou continued to try and calm Hank down. The fed had set that back a good bit. She gave Hank her hand, hoping it would have some sort of calming effect. Sharon picked her head up. She wanted news. Good or bad at this point she wanted to know something. He had to make it. He just had to. "No part of this is okay" she was in tears, her step mother had pulled the trigger, her soon to be fiance was in surgery. That and her dad was actually sticking up for Thomas, she was pretty sure the world was about to end at the rate they were going. Debra looked towards Hank when she spoke. "I'm not going to push Hank. She's still processing. I understand" she knew she had been the same when Simon had been shot years ago. It had been more minor but Debra was under the impression that everything was falling down around her. "You think I am here, just because I doing my job sergeant?" she rose a brow. She knew Thomas didn't have a lot of family and Debra sort of mother henned her agents anyway. It was then Sharon grumbled something she'd heard downstairs at the patrol desk. "Agent Oxford, mother henning my dad is a bad idea" Debra shook her head. "My sister has been talking I see." She chuckled. "I'm not here to mother hen your dad. Only lawyers can handle that" she was trying to be humourous but not overly so. More or less just trying to pass time. Sharon heard her sister's voice. Erin was not pleased that Hank had a bug up his butt so she just ignored his condescending comment. If that was what he thought Erin would push, then he was wrong. "You think I'm bringing shorts in Chicago's winter?" she baited sarcastically. She dropped the bag at their feet. Sharon disappeared to go change. Clean up the rest of the mess she was. It was probably better Sharon was out of ear shot as Erin took a stab at Hank's attitude. "I don't have a clue. If I did I wouldn't be here. I would be in interrogation with the other two assholes who took off" she snapped. Lou put her hand up as Erin was clearly baiting Hank. "Detective Lindsay. Now is not the time" she kept her voice professional. They were all having a bad day and Lou was the one having to put everything back together. Erin motioned Debra over to exchange information. "You are sure?" Debra's voice was low as Erin explained. "So he came into the house with a loaded weapon, shot a fed, and he has no record?" Erin gave Debra a shake of her head. "I'm sorry Agent Oxford we can't prove he had a vendetta against any fed, let alone Agent Jackson. He's clean; that doesn't' mean his accomplices are. I'm running the gang database. Sometimes its like an initiation thing around here."Debra nodded as Sharon slinked pasted to go cuddle up to Hank finally in something warmer and out of blood stained clothing. Debra looked towards her. "I know some people. I'll get on it." She assured Erin. Tapping the detective on the shoulder she came back to the group. Debra was well aware of what Thomas was into. "Agent Jackson's record with the bureau. It lends to enemies. Nothing with this MO though." Debra explained as Sharon sat back up. "Thomas doesn't tell me what goes on at work, but I would know if someone was after him. He wasn't acting any different than normal." She gave her dad a look. Sharon wasn't really ready to talk but she felt like it could help. She'd volunteer information but if she was questioned it wouldn't go well. "It wasn't even anyone who was following us. Thomas is diligent." Wait the fed she'd slammed? No he was too stupid to hire someone that fast who wouldn't squeal. All the gangs members knew Voight; they'd have squealed if someone was paid to show up at his house. "It has to be random. There is no other explanation" she was trying to think like a cop but it had taken a long time to come to that conclusion. Her voice was still cracking. "Just rest Sharon. We can talk about this later" she wasn't going to ask, even if Sharon was volunteering, she wasn't going to push her. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Hank looked towards Lou when she spoke, “I was just...” He said before he realised what she was trying to do, so thinking straight wasn’t his strong point when people were hurt. He tried to smile and nod but he really wanted to strangle the guy still. “Thanks.” He said instead of arguing over what he was trying to do, he was trying to bite at the fed without disturbing Sharon and getting arrested for threatening, yeah best for him to leave it be. Lou was right.
He took her hand trying to focus on her rather than the overwhelming urge to knock the guy out. Hearing Sharon in tears Hank wanted to agree with her but he couldnt let himself do that because he had to make it alright. “No it’s not but it will be.” He said trying to keep what little belief in everything okay he had left. Lou had shot someone, Sharon could have been killed, Thomas was in surgery and all because he froze and didnt know what was going on until it was too late to do anything.
“Good because no one’s pushing her.” Hank stated, he knew he was snapping but then this was Sharon he was trying to look after. Debra had to understand that, if it was her family then surely she’d do the same to him if he came in to ask questions not that she had but they all wanted the answers that just weren’t there yet. Hank gave her a look though when Sharon spoke he softened it slightly and it turned into a weak smile at her humour. “Yeah well I’ll father hen the lot of you so it makes us even in this.” He offered, “Even the lawyers don’t get away from that.” He added knowing that he’d be as protective over Lou as he was Sharon.
Don’t say a thing he thought as Erin baited him, even though he wanted to bite her head off about it he waited until Sharon was away before he glared at Erin. “I’m just telling you she’s cold. I’d do the same to her if it was you.” He snapped trying to can his attitude but it wasn’t working at all. “No, it’s not the time because my wife shot someone, Sharon’s a mess and do I have to do this myself?” He asked trying not to lose it but he was close to it. This was his home, his family that had been hurt and now he was getting attitude of the one person he thought would understand that.
Why had this happened to his family? Hadnt they been through enough already, Sharon was happy and now this. Yes Thomas had been shot before but this was different, the shoulder wasn’t the chest and Hank didnt even want to think of what would happen if Thomas didnt get to come back from it. Hank hugged Sharon when she came back. “Any better?” He asked Sharon, he was trying to make conversation with her to distract her from what was going on though it was a poor attempted at that.
Hank glanced between Debra and Sharon as he listened to the two of them, what was his work exactly? Desk job or general fed wasn’t exactly an enemy making line of work beyond the usual. Hank had a hundred questions in his mind though he knew that Sharon wasn’t for talking as he just smiled encouragingly to her as she spoke. He made sure to rub her back slowly to try and help keep her as calm as he could. “Debra’s right, you’ve done great. Even thinking like a cop now” He said reassuringly as much as he was proud of her for it as he glanced to Debra.
“What work does he do exactly?” Hank asked knowing he was way off in what he was asking but then he wanted to know who was possibly marrying his daughter. Thomas being diligent and not acting any different, he knew where his mind was at but a confirmation would be good before he went off on a wild goose chase about it. “If it’s random, everyone on that street knows I live there.” He said, the good and the bad knew that and it would take a lot for them to try anything that stupid.
“Erin speak to Alvin, he’ll know what to do and the trees to shake.” Hank said knowing the man was about as up to his neck in it as much as Hank could be at times. “You need to interrogate anyone who’s not talking fast enough. Al will fix that. By any means right now, I want these guys.” It wasn’t that Hank was up for using the space they had but for special occasions sometimes the cage at CPD just wasn’t enough of a shock factor for people to loosen their tongues.

When Hank started to defend himself she was already formulating a response in her head. The thing about a lawyer was... arguments were almost made invalid at times. She didn't care who she drove nuts when she used it for the better good. It was just ingrained in her. The State's attorney was mostly calm. She wasn't paying much attention to much else. Not until Sharon lifted her head as the doctor came over. In fact she wasn't so sure that both girls hadn't napped through the rest of the conversation that Hank was having with Debra and the other Erin. Hank was ill tempered at the moment so Sharon pushed nothing. It was better to just keep her mouth shut probably. At least in her past experiences. Once she got the fill in from the doctor's, she managed to somehow convince the doctor's into letting her into ICU. No wasn't going to be taken for an answer. Sharon pushed open the door quietly and snuck into the hospital room. There was no telling if Thomas would be awake. Though she just wanted him to rest for a bit, so she wasn't about to go waking him. Sharon curled up on the chair beside the bed and draped her blanket over her. She was trying still to fight sleep but what was the point? If she didn't get rest then... everyone would just be upset with her. It was better not to poke that bear; but it didn't stop the worry. Sharon's gaze drifted at the monitors as if they could explain everything. Part of Sharon was still mad at Thomas. Mad that he'd done the stupid... but she knew that bullet would have hit her otherwise. But that never sat well with her, it just wasn't her thing. Though she knew trying to be the protective one wouldn't be met well. She was recognized that it was something she was starting to be okay with. That was until it involved guns and bullets. Though she'd cleaned up she still had flashing images of everything as she closed her eyes. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Hank was trying to hang on to whatever sanity he had left in the hospital but being bated wasn’t really going to go well. He didnt want to argue with people but when he was upset it was easier to do that than to admit to anything. It was just what he did as he spoke with Debra until the doctor came over. Hank listened to what was said, the usual surgical things, few days in hospital, no running marathons and at some point the fed would be awake enough for them to talk to him.
He was surprised that Sharon had managed to convince the doctor to stay in the ICU but then if he had to pull the ‘i’m a cop and this is happening’ card for her he would have done. Hank stayed where he was for a moment until Sharon left to go and stay with Thomas. He stayed until he left with Erin to go and get something to eat.
Thomas lay there and everything was an effort, he was tired, unusually so though staring at the back of his eye lids was all he seemed able to do for a while. His sleep was drug induced which he knew was bad to start with, drugs and him didnt mix well though surgery it was required though he just hoped that no one had given him painkillers. He was absolutely paranoid about it and he wasn’t about to take anything he didnt have to just in case. Still he was between sleep and consciousness, not quiet at either before sleep found him.
It took him a while to adjust to the harsh light or at least for someone who had their eyes closed for a while any light was harsh. “Uh ma lie.” He mumbled trying to keep his eyes open as he turned his head to get away from the light that felt like a torch in his face. He didnt know why he was surprised to see Sharon there, curled up on a chair with a blanket draped over her. His first reaction was to smile though for some reason between the drugs, his mind and a complete and utter lack of common sense.
He managed to make a few unfounded leaps. He could hear the noises of the machines, the look of a hospital as the images of the day were a little out of focus but he knew the basics. “Sharon, you’re hurt.” He spluttered making a leap between the hospital and her being there. Sure he had missed the entire reason but then he had stepped in front of a gun to stop her having to be at a hospital. “No, you cant be hurt. DOCTOR!” He tried to yell though it was little more than a slightly raised voice that sounded more like it was in a far away room. In his head he felt like he was yelling but it was simply that, in his head as he could feel himself start to panic. She couldnt be hurt, not now he’d tried to stop that as he stared at her with unfocused wild eyes.

When Thomas started to stir so did Sharon. His voice caught her attention. She peeled her tired eyes open. She lifted her head from the under the blanket and pushed it down some to stand up. Exhausted, she was that but he needed to be kept calm. She didn't know much but she knew he probably had no idea where he was from his first few words. Putting a hand to the side of his face calmly. "I'm not hurt." Sharon knew that her face would give away the truth. Sharon was even too tired to cover things up with half truths. "I'm just really tired sweetheart" she rubbed her thumb on the side of his face. Sharon kissed the top of his head and closed her eyes. Emotions right now were not something she was capable of doing. "Don't stress yourself out. Thomas please." her voice was firm but she was worried. Though she didn't move from beside him. "I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere" she reminded him. There were times she didn't really know what to do and this was one of them. 'Just stay calm and he will follow suit' that was just from experience but she had very little experience in keeping people calm. "I'm not hurt" she repeated. Thomas and drugs didn't mix, she knew that from the time she'd pretty much forced the nurse to stab her with the needle in the hospital after the boat explosion. Thomas didn't want pain killers; she knew that. She also knew he was going to be miserable once the anesthesia wore off. This wouldn't be any better if she was in his position. Everyone would be just as caught up in a tizzy. Though to be fair, everyone was now too. Her hand ran through his hair. She was as close as she could manage as she scooted her chair over by the bed and rested her head on her hands near his head. Enough she could talk to him but not disturb him. She knew it was a long road to recovery. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Thomas was just glad she was there, he didnt care where he was but then wherever he was he felt like he was floating or at least the sort of floating you felt before a wall of pain was heading your way. He blinked as he watched Sharon though until she placed her hand to the side of his face he wondered if he was hallucinating her. Thomas would have argued with her but her face didnt show any signs of being hurt, no she was the easiest person to read and she wasnt lying.
Tired, she was tired he thought as he nodded to her. “Then go back to sleep.” He stated as if they were at home, he knew that was far from the truth when she kissed the top of his head. “If you’re tired get some rest... I’ll look out for you.” He said grinning at her, he felt tired himself but if she got some sleep then he could keep his eyes open to look after her no matter what was going on. He could remember being in the car and her sleeping then or were they at Hank’s house, he wasn’t too sure on that .
Thomas chuckled but regretted it immediately, it felt like someone had taken his insides out thrown them around a bit then shoved them back inside as he groaned. “I’m not stressed.” He said failing to add the words ‘more like high’ but then again there was a reason he didnt take drugs of any sort though give he felt so strange he guessed he hadn’t had much of a choice in it. “No you cant go Sharon you need sleep.” He said as he patted the bed he was on, “Rest.” He muttered as he closed his eyes for a second.
“You’re not hurt.” He said nodding, “Are you sure? I can tell if you are. You should have a doctor make sure.” He rambled blinking as he tried to focus on her and be serious. If she was hurt he wasn’t about to do nothing about it as he looked down to see the hospital bed. “Who’s hurt? I dont get it.” He asked a little confused as he felt her hand run through his hair, he leaned into her hand for a moment as he closed his eyes again.

Sharon's face being easy to read made it hard to lie, so it wasn't something she did. Then again lying to Thomas would shatter everything and she knew it. Her hand just ran down his neck softly. Then he mentioned sleep. "I'm too worried to sleep." She admitted. Again not a lie. She'd been cat napping and she'd tried to catch sleep. The beeping of his monitors had afforded her some sleep; but it hadn't been long enough to do more than keep her going through the exhaustion. "Easy does it sweetheart" she stated putting a hand on his shoulder, opposite the side that he'd been just shot. Her voice didn't feel like her own it felt full of worry as she heard him groan. Her head rested near his good side. "I just said I'm not going anywhere. I'm right here, with you" she stated as she picked up his hand. Tossing it over lightly in her hand she smiled towards him and tried to keep him calm as best she could. It wasn't easy and she definitely didn't want to make him hurt anymore. "You were shot Thomas." She stated in such a matter to explain what was going on, but it was a short response to the actual truth. "You are in ICU. The doctor's let me slip through." She continued to run her hand through his hair. Feeling him lean into her hand she smiled a bit. She knew he hated pain killers but they were necessary; but she'd fight with the doctors if they gave him more than he needed. Though she knew leaving him in pain was going to be hard, but she wasn't going to go against his wishes. That day in the hospital she hadn't even known. "I promise. No more stepping in front of needles this time okay?" She tried to put his mind at ease. Though she would still fight with the nurses tooth and nail. "It's alright to rest, everyone is safe" Sharon kissed his forehead. She was protective, much like her dad and she didn't even care what happened to the people who did this. The shooter was dead but the others... the others were just as guilty in her mind. Part of her wanted to tell him to never do that again... but she knew how well that would go. Lies were the one thing Thomas hated most, sure in his job he understood it and lied to people himself but there was a reason behind it. Lies in his personal life, that was much different and they hadn’t exactly been the most trusting in the beginning. At least now they knew they could trust each other but like most fragile things it wouldnt take much to shatter it. “Nothing to worry about. I’m back.” He said with a grin though he wouldnt have gotten much sleep if it was Sharon in his place.
“It’s okay, I’ll be back to new tomorrow. Just... sore.” He said finding it tough to explain, sore but not sore. When he moved it was like stabbing pain but mostly it felt as if an elephant had done a tap dance on his chest without him knowing. “Then you need to sleep here, please Sharon.” He asked her watching as she picked up his hand, he tried to squeeze his hand around hers lightly. “Sharon it’s all okay, just get some rest because I dont want you to be tired. We’ve got lots to sort out.” He said meaning to talk about the wedding but it was a good enough distract for her he thought.
Women liked that kind of thing, the details of it all or at least that was what his head told him. Thomas stared at her when she explained he had been shot, oh that explained a lot of things. Yes it hurt, bullets tended to do that as he closed his eyes for a moment. “You were there Sharon.” He stated, that to him was the scariest part of it all. Sharon was in the room with a gun wielding crazy person. “ICU? Thank the docs for letting you get through. I cant remember getting here.” He said being truthful about that but then the last thing he remembered was asking Sharon what Hank said. “No drugs, you know that right just in case nothing at all.” He stated wanting to be sure she remembered that part, his mind was fuzzy as he wasn’t sure if he had ever explained that to her at all but he needed to know she would stop anyone that tried it.
“No needles are very bad for you, you should stay away from those.” He said smiling, well at least she would be safe in ICU he thought as hopefully there wasn’t a needle wielding person there to try and kill people. Rest and safe, two words that had him doing just that as he smiled at her kiss on his forehead. “The wedding... what are you thinking? And the name and you and what do you want to do for the day? But Hank definitely agreed right?” He asked her not sure if he had actually official asked her to marry him yet but then again he knew what he wanted to do he just had to hope when he did she would say yes. Then again if she was at a thinking about a wedding stage then that was step in the right direction.

Nothing to worry about? Had he really lost that much of his brain cells? She knew he was just trying to make her feel better. "Worry comes with the territory babe. It's a pointless conversation to have" How many times had they had the SAME conversation when either of them got hurt. She knew that bullet would have hit her if he hadn't have stepped in. Why had he? She wasn't certain. "I took a small nap here" she admitted. How did she tell him the 'sleep' had been rattled with fear and nightmares. "I can't just sleep." She'd pulled a gun on people before, but she'd never killed anyone. Well not where she could see their faces; but seeing Thomas here in the hospital was so much worse than even when she had pulled the trigger on him. She wanted to tell him to never do that again. Though entirely pointless; because she knew he would do it the same all over again. All she could do was nod. It wasn't the first bullet that had ever come sailing in her direction, and she doubted with her job that it would be the last. Sharon just looked at the ground when he asked about ICU. Nothing she wanted to explain to him. "I had to clamp your artery before the ambulance came." Even everything after that for her had been one big panicked blur. Sharon nodded when he mentioned no drugs. She started twisting a piece of his hair in her hands. "I got your back babe" she whispered. Voice threatening to crack. She knew he was going to be in so much pain later if not soon and it was probably going to break her but she would respect his wishes. When he started talking about the wedding.. she realized she'd not even given it any thought. At all. She'd been so worried about other things she'd hardly been able to see past the mess of the evening. "I um..." she honestly seemed caught off guard by the question. "I've had so much else on my mind" she admitted the truth. She was just glad nothing was officially yet; the last thing she wanted was things to be official and marked by him being shot again. "I know that I love you and that you mean the world to me." She pointed out as hands traced his lips. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Thomas didnt want Sharon to worry about anything, in fact he she was the first person who had worried about him for a long time and he was still figuring that out. At least how to deal with that, people didnt worry about him and he was okay with it, the one person that mattered most to him worried and he didnt want to add anything to her stress. “It is but I’m still here so nothing to worry about.” He said trying to smile though the dull ache was starting to hit him.
Not quite pain but discomfort enough to know that he was going to feel it a lot worse later on. Thomas nodded when she spoke about talking a small nap, “Talk to me, why can’t you sleep?” He asked her. He knew had he been where she was he wouldnt be sleeping either, if she had been shot sleep wasn’t even considered until he was too tired to keep his eyes open. Thomas just wished he could do something to help her, something to make her feel better and get her to have some decent sleep. He already knew from the day they had she was tired when she had slept in the car.
He could would have kicked himself if he could for not making sure she had some more sleep. Thomas saw her reaction as he was confused until even her explaining made things more confusing. “You did that?” He said before he grinned, “You saved me Sharon.” He stated though he didnt know it had been that bad, he just remembered the pain, the breathing, the faces the voices and none of it had made much sense. “Thank you.” He said happy that she had his back, he knew it was going to hurt later and it probably wasn’t going to be great but then it was that or risk something much worse.
The wedding was a distraction, something happy that they could think about despite everything else. He listened as she seemed caught off guard as he wondered if this was the ‘we shouldn’t have done this’ or ‘thanks but no thanks’ moment in life. “I know, I just thought that... while we are both here you know.” He said given that if this could happen in supposedly the safest house in Chicago there really were no guarantees in life. He smiled again feeling her hands trace his lips as he tried to push himself up but he made it as far as lifting his head a few inches before he retreated with a slight groan.
Moving was a really bad idea as he looked up at her instead and moved to hold her hand. “I love you too and you meant the world to me which I why I wont let anyone hurt you Sharon.” He said trying to explain why he was in the mess in the first place. He had seen the gun and the face and done the only thing he knew, he protected her as best he could. It didnt matter if it was a bullet or knife or anything, he would do the exact same thing over and over again if it meant that she was safe.
“I was just trying to protect you, you’ve been through so much already and I promised to do that for you.” Thomas was trying to explain but then when was explaining why you took a bullet for someone explainable? He did it because he loved her and didnt want to even think about losing her to anything or anyone.

Sharon just closed her eyes and reopened them as she laid her head beside him. "Sorry dear. Comes with the territory." Pushing some hair from his face she just smiled at him. Emotionally drained and physically exhausted her naps hadn't been enough. Still playing with his hair she knew that worrying about others was just how she'd been most of the time. If it wasn't her mom or sister, it had been Hank and now Thomas. Sharon worried about the Erin duo too but that wasn't quite the same. When he questioning her about it, she closed her eyes. "I close my eyes and everything goes into a slow motion replay. The shooter is dead but the other two are still out there." She explained. "Dad's doing his protective of everything again and Erin was the one who pulled the trigger on the suspect. Just a lot on my mind." Someone had to look out for Hank and Erin was in no state to do that. Of all of them, none of them was in any physical state to handle anything. "I don't need you to worry about me on top of all of this either." She was explaining why she didn't really want to say anything. Sharon when she said something she didn't want to talk about she always told him not worry. "Right now you need to rest and get better." She added with her thumb playing at his lips still. "Stop taking bullets okay?” She knew that he would do it again the same way if given half the chance but she didn't want to lose him. "I can't lose you." She added. Just the thought of losing him and her hand almost caused her to shatter a mirror in frustration. With Sharon sometimes there was no stopping the emotions once they got to moving. "I'm going to stay right here" She reminded him. "I'm safe now but you need to get some rest while you can" she knew when he was in pain later that sleep would not be easy. Just the thought made her uncomfortable. "Easy Sweetheart." She tried to calm him down. "You can't tell me right now that you really want to talk pink bows and glitter." She was only partially teasing. Anyone who had seen the inside of her car knew that she had a thing for pink. "As for the name thing.. I'm not really sure I am ready for another name change. I've been through two in what? Eighteen months? But that's a discussion for later Thomas. You need to rest" she was almost pleading with him to sleep. "You don't have to explain." She didn't want him to explain. Deep down she knew. "We look out for each other; that's how this works. This conversation sounds familiar. I can't promise you that I can sleep. I can promise that I will try though." She knew it was likely she was going to be wide awake though and on guard for someone trying to give him pain killers. Sharon didn't trust the hospital. Sharon never had trusted the hospital, not since they had lied to cover up why she had been admitted. Mark had the influence to make him look clean as a whistle. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Thomas smiled and nodded lightly to her, he knew that telling her not to worry wasn’t going to work but he would tell her anyway. He would worry about her if she was in hospital so he knew he couldnt expect things the other way around. “Yeah I really need to stop coming in here before they think i actually like it.” He said knowing that he worried about her, Hank not so much because that guy well whoever tried to take that guy down was more foolish than brave. Until Sharon he didnt really have anyone to worry about which made for a nice change.
He listened to her explain why and he nodded again. “It’ll be okay, no one will hurt you. You’re safe.” He said quietly. He was trying to work out what he had seen or what was still fuzzy which was most of it, between the surgery and everything else his head wasn’t exactly the most reliable. “Erin? She killed the guy.” He said surprised and more than a little worried. “Hank’s just watching out for you both and I saw them Sharon, one had... red circles on their trainers.” He said not sure if that was a logo or what it was but then he was sure he had other things but he just couldnt remember them right then.
“You need to see that she’s okay...if she hasn’t killed anyone before...” He wasn’t too sure how to describe it, the feeling that came after wondering why there was nothing. He knew it all too well and he knew how people tried to deal with it when there wasn’t any dealing with it. “I worry about you on top of anything.” He said knowing her telling him that was to get away from something she didnt want to talk about. “Im awake while I can be and before it hurts a lot more.” He said simply knowing if he was too tired to feel pain later it might work out in his favour. Or he could just stop jumping in front of bullets but then for Sharon he’d do the exact same thing over again.
“It’s not like I set out to find one today.” He said a little sarcastically as he tried to laugh but stopped when it felt like he was being stabbed. Yeah, breathing hurt but laughing wasn’t the best idea. “You wont lose me, see I’m still here one bullet later. At least your dad didnt shoot me though, think positively about today.” He said though apart from getting Hank’s blessing after he had been shot there hadn’t exactly been much to celebrate having almost ruined everything earlier in the day too. Maybe it was just karma, getting shot was payback for not knowing what to do earlier.
“That’s fine with me, besides you brighten this place up a lot.” He said smiling as he closed his eyes for a moment before he shook his head again. “If im too tired when it hurt more at least then I can be forced to sleep. Now it’s just like being punched, doesn’t hurt too much.” He said though sure it hurt a little more than he was letting on but he wasn’t about to worry her over that because he knew it would get steadily worse. Thomas nodded to her, “I’ve seen your car, better talk about it now than later when I have my senses back. So you want pink and glitter?” He said to her as he reached a hand up to her face slowly to brush some hair behind her ear.
Then came the name thing, she had changed her name how many times now and he thought that it was bad enough doing UC work. He had more names than he could count but at least they got filled in a box somewhere and he could go back to his real name. “I’m not resting and we need to talk about this stuff before you go all girl wedding nuts on me.” He said though he wasn’t entirely sure what it entailed though he heard the term bridezilla a few times around work. “So if you dont change your name how about I change mine?” He suggested, it wasn’t like he hadn’t had practice with that. “So we just swap and I take your name that way no changing for you.” He said as he closed his eyes again before opening them a few seconds later.
“I need to explain because I dont want you to be mad with me for it.” He explained not sure if she was mad or worried or thought he was some kind of bullet magnet that got shot every five seconds. “I know, familiar but trying is all I can ask for. So i’m not closing my eyes until you do.” He said as he stared at her for a few seconds before he grinned trying to prove a point. He knew that hospitals weren’t the best place for her but then if it was up to him she would be at home where she was safe though Thomas would do his best to keep an eye on her while she was there.

Sharon just shook her head at Thomas. He was a right mess some days. But, if he wasn't being himself then she would worry more. She would be likely to believe that aliens in a UFO abducted him. Though hearing him and his sarcasm always helped. Sharon played with his fingers in hers for now. "Don't you worry about anyone but you." She explained as she played with his hair. "You focus on getting better." Sharon saw the notice on her phone about the guy being in custody. It was all she could do to not want to go and take care of work. Torn between staying there with Thomas and heading to the station she settled on sending Erin a text explaining to keep the guy on ice. Sharon would handle this her way. The guy could sit for a little while to think over his actions so that Thomas could fall asleep. Sending the message she shoved her phone back in his pocket. "I will let Erin know" she mused out towards him. "But you don't need to give details Thomas you should be resting." “Sweetheart, Dad is with her. She'll be alright” Not that Sharon wasn't concerned but she trusted her dad to look after his own wife. "You are in a hospital with a gunshot wound. I think that I am permitted to worry" she sighed. Really Thomas was a pain in the backside on a normal day. When he was in the hospital he was worse. "Don't make the pain worse." She warned lightly, he lips pressed against his softly careful to make sure he didn't need to move. Even if she was awkwardly hanging over his bed. "See I am right here so you oughtn't worry about me."How could Thomas make jokes at a time like this? Sharon had just spent hours crying her heart out. He was just trying to make her feel better but talking about Hank shooting him wasn't going over well right now. Life was complicated. Life was very complicated. There were no other options for it. Hearing him talk about the wedding she just let her mind focus on that, but it was not the type of memory she wanted. 'I planned my wedding in a hospital room after my soon to be fiance was shot' yeah that was not something for the memory list. At least her comment about pink glitter had gotten his attention. Her eyes focused on his hand. Letting tears flow freely down her face. She couldn't hold them back anymore. Wedding nuts, right. With who? Her sister who never really saw eye to eye with her or her dad? Yeah she was pretty sure he wasn't exactly the ribbons and bows conversationalist. It wasn't like she could call her mom and... no she wasn't' going to think like that right now. She sort of zoned out of the conversation but when he mentioned names she quirked a brow. "Because that doesn't go against every tradition." Then again Thomas and Sharon had thrown every other tradition out the window already. "That wouldn't bother you at all?" She wanted a truthful answer. But to be honest to her it was hard figuring herself out and then changing names all the time and it was bothersome to her, she didn't exactly see it as a special moment in her life to change last names. Though.. she didn't want him to do things backward if he didn't want to do them that way. “Thomas I can't close my eyes. I will lay my head down.” Her words were rather blunt, she could be a pill when she really wanted to be. Most of the time she didn't have any issues doing what she was told to do. However, with the day flashes she was having there was no sleep. She was convinced that he needed to sleep though and if she had to do it by acting like a brat, then brat she would be. Thomas shook his head and grinned at her, “You know that’s never going to happen right?” He said as she played with his hair, honestly he wasn’t about to start worrying about himself when he had other people to worry about. “I am better, alive and maybe a bit slow but I’ll be back to normal in no time.” He said trying to be optimistic, it was going to be a while but then again it was get back to normal or sit and cry in a corner and he wasn’t the sort to do that. “I can rest later, the details might help though.” He explained though he wasn’t sure how much he had to give anyone.
He nodded hearing that Hank was with Erin, well at least she had someone there for her he thought. It wasn’t ever going to be an easy thing but he didnt doubt that Hank had it cover. “No, don’t worry because it’s not like i’ve not been shot before.” He said grinning lightly, sure Sharon wasn’t the first person to shoot him and he didnt think she would be the last unless he really screwed up. Kissing her he mumbled out a ‘yes’ to her pain warning before he tried to put an arm around her. “I worry about you no matter where you are sweetheart.” Thomas wasn’t exactly the sort not to worry about her.
It wasn’t that he didnt think she couldnt take care of herself it was more a worried about her to make sure she was alright and didnt have to watch out for herself. Joking was the only way he knew how to deal with anything, he didnt have a corner to hide in or that one person in his life to talk to about any of it because Sharon was the one person he could talk to about everything. He hadn’t trusted another person like he did her and in turn he had managed to see Debra as someone who wasn’t the enemy.
Thomas saw her tears as he raised his hand to her face to try to wipe them away. “It’s okay Sharon, what’s wrong?” He asked her trying to figure out what was going on with her. It had to be the wedding he thought, maybe he had pushed it too much or said the wrong thing or she didnt want pink at the wedding? His mind was still swimming in thoughts and images of that day coupled with whatever they had given him for the surgery. “You’re okay, you’re safe and we don’t have to get married tomorrow unless you don’t want to anymore... or if you don’t like pink then we can change it. Anything you want, okay?” He asked her still not sure what part of his brain was leaping to which conclusion first.
He had about a hundred different line about what traditions they had broken already but he didnt think it was the right time at least. Thomas shook his head as he grinned, “No I mean it’s not like i’ve not had practice with different names so why not ask to take yours?” He said not wanting her to feel like she had to change everything again for simply a last name. Getting married to her wasn’t about her name simply spending his life with her. “If you’re happy with me being a Voight then for you Sharon, i’d do it. Only if you are happy with me doing that?” He asked her wanting to be sure she was fine about that.
He could feel his eyes getting tired though hearing her blunt words he just nodded. “I’ll take that, so you rest and I’ll make sure you’re okay.” He said as he closed one eye but still looked at her with the other one. “You know it’s funny, I get shot today and it’s still one of the best days of my life.” He said as he smiled at her, the day he had met her was another great day despite getting shot then but he just didnt know it at that point.

Sharon shot him a look. “Yeah well someone is going to look out for you. Don't you think I am going to back down on this Thomas.” She loved to play with his hair. Her ministrations continued. Hearing him, he made it sound like he was bullet proof. When he asked for the details she shook her head. "The details Thomas? The details are that you were shot." Shot in a place that Sharon had felt safe. That was beside the point. It just made her realize that this could have happened anywhere. She took her phone out and texted her dad, she knew he had a key to her apartment. 'Stay at my place tonight?' If she did go home, which was not likely she didn't really want to go home to an empty house. "Thomas I am not in any mood to argue." She was straight forward about it. Sharon was tired and picking her battles. The worry wasn't going to stop on command, she was not a puppet. She was a human being who cared. Sharon took his arm and put it by his side. "You are awful fidgety." She didn't blame him but she wanted him to calm down. Moving around right now too much and he would hurt himself farther. Pull stitches or something. She secured her hand around his arms. "I'm gonna stay right here." The only way she was leaving is if the hospital kicked her out of there. Sharon lifted her head to look towards him. "It's been a rough few hours." It wasn't a lie but it didn't really explain much of anything. "Just emotions. Tired." Dare she say being off her medication wasn't helping either. The pharmacy wouldnt have any until the next morning. "Thomas it's not about changing my mind about getting married. I would never play with your heart like that. Not ever." She snuggled up to the side of his face. "Just too much information and emotion all at once." She took him by the hand. "This isn't just about what I want. Remember when I told you relationships are about making decisions together? Don't make a decision based on not upsetting me. I want to know you are happy with whatever we decide. Because I know that I won't be happy with you making a decision based just on what I want." She ran her hand up and down his arm. "You can decide whenever you want babe. This doesn't have to be decided right now." She kissed his forehead. "But I'd be happy if you took my name. I just don't want you doing it just because you think it's what I want." She moved her kisses to his lips. "I love you." Then she laid her back down beside him. Sharon just nodded. She closed her eyes. She really was exhausted but she wasn't sure she could sleep. Closing her eyes meant things could plague her dreams. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0
