Thomas nodded to her when she spoke; he had wanted to tell her exactly what he did so many times. To explain it all to her and have her understand but with understanding came worry and that was the last thing he wanted for her. There had been enough worry for her and he was surprised she trusted him despite not knowing the exact details of things. She knew he was a federal agent but after that it was sketchy for a reason. Thomas felt like arguing the point but he didnt want to upset her anymore. “Okay then, you win that one. I just want to do better for you.” He said knowing that was true.
“Im glad to hear it.” He said with a grin happy to know she wasn’t in the mind for shooting him again. Thomas gazed at her when she grabbed him by the shoulders and flipped his hand over. “Well thank you for shooting me and really you did save me from the explosion so it was worth getting shot.” He stated as he smiled and shook his head. “You’ve nothing to be scared of anymore Sharon, nothing will happen. We’re both safe, trust me.” He said knowing there was little he could do to stop being scared of losing her but then they were both cops so scared was a way of life at times.
Thomas grinned seeing the smile on her face followed by her arms wrapped around his neck a little tighter. “Home sure, but Hank’s first and then I can ask.” He added deciding not to add in a punch line about being shot. No Hank had to be reasonable about things hadn’t he? It wasn’t like he had just dated Sharon for a few weeks and it was a ‘lets just do’ phase. He was absolutely serious about marrying Sharon. With a kiss on the side of his face he let her settle before he started the car to drive off.
He listened to her random conversation glad of it as he tried to under what she was saying. “If you had grown up in Chicago then there’s no guarantee we’d have ever met. I’m glad you can call it home though, and trust me I still learn about this city and it was my home for years before I left and now Im right back where I started out.” He explained knowing he had a lot of ties to the city. He had family there but it was the sort that never spoke and Chicago was big enough for a live and let live situation. Bumping into them was a rare thing and when they did Thomas knew they looked the other way or crossed the street to avoid him.
Thomas nodded when Sharon spoke of change, he wasn’t the biggest change fan but he dealt with it was best he could. Change had meant going home to face a family that disowned him followed by the FBI who stuck him back on UC work with a phase of testing every other week just to make sure. “I’m glad, things are great the way they are and nothing has to change unless you want it to Sharon. You’re safe, no more running and hiding you can just be you now.” He said with a smile as he placed his hand over hers for a moment before he moved his hand back to the wheel.

‘I just want to do better for you.’ Those words right there made her realize how hard he was trying, and it meant a lot. So if he was looking for why she stuck around him when they both flopped and made mistakes so much. There he had it. Someone who tried and was willing to admit they weren’t perfect. Content with him giving in for the moment she settled and relaxed. Though as talk turned to nothing happening and being safe, she knew their line of work was… difficult at times. Not knowing what he could or was involved in did scare her. “Good because I can’t lose you” she admitted. It wasn’t worth the argument to sit there and argue over their jobs, that's just how it was. She’d learned that the arguments never solved anything. She laced her fingers with his. Sharon was just scared of something happening. Her whole life something had to ruin her happy. When he said he wanted to go to see Hank first she just kissed him. Well this could go okay, or this could go all sorts of sideways as long as Sharon didn’t get caught in the middle of things? That was the worst place in the world to be was caught between the two guys she cared about most in her life. As she settled in the car she realized how much trust they’d learned from each other. Sharon somehow had gained a bucket load of patience too in the process. “I turned down a job offer awhile back. The FBI wanted to send me to Atlanta. It’s just funny how it’s so easy to call somewhere home when I barely know my way around the roads; but can’t bring myself to leave. You know?” It was weird to her and she didn’t understand it. But she wouldn’t trade it either. Feeling his hand on hers. “I think it’s just a strange feeling right now to be me.” She admitted, it was something she dealt with. Always second guessing herself and her own reactions. Sharon buried her head in his lap but was starting to fall asleep, she really did cat nap. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Thomas smiled and nodded, “You wont lose me at all. If your dad cant get rid of me then no one else stands a chance.” He stated, Hank did a great job at trying though for Sharon Thomas was willing to do whatever it took. Even risk death by asking the man to marry his daughter which he was still figuring out if it was the insane to risk asking and not just do it. Better to ask forgiveness than seek permission, though Hank had a special kind of scary lined up for people and he wasn’t about to seek to find what that scary was.
“I cant lose you either, you’re the one good thing in my life and I promise you I’d do anything to make you happy.” He said, for Sharon he would do anything and that scared him. To feel that way about a person and even to go speak to the scariest person in the world about marrying that person. It was worth every second of it. When she kissed him he smiled, it had to be okay surely Hank was a reasonable person? Hank reasonable, yeah and pigs were about to start flying and driving spaceships.
“The FBI wanted to send you to Atlanta? Why didnt you tell me?” He asked as he glanced at her before looking out of the window. Why was he just hearing about this now he wondered? “Home is wherever you want it to be, there is no right or wrong for it. It’s just the place that feels like it for you. I’m glad you’ve chosen to stay.” He said taking a sharp breath as he realised had she taken the job he might never have seen her again. Yes he would have tried to transfer but then in his line of work it wasn’t like he could just pack a bag and go.
Thomas smiled when she buried her head in his lap, “I’m just glad you are you.” He said as he drove, amazed at how she could start to sleep and cat nap. To him it was a nights sleep and cat naps just made him cranky, it was a way of life in his job at times along with sleeping with one eye open. It was that which made the nights he felt safe all the more enjoyable when he didnt have to watch his own back and make sure that things were all okay.

It wasn’t that she was scared of someone chasing Thomas away, it was something happening to him. She knew undercover was difficult at times. She’d go long periods of time where he had to stay away and Sharon understood, but it didn’t ease the worry. Though he was flipping the conversation on her. Typical. Sharon shook her head at him. “Thomas.” She paused. “Look at me.” She waited until they were at the stop light. “I am happy.” She stated firmly with a smile on her face. “Stop trying so hard” Sharon added lightly. She appreciated it, but at the same time she was simple to please. Cue FBI conversation. “Because I didn’t consider it much. It was a great opportunity but my life is here. I just felt it was a decision that I had to make on my own.” She had made it on her own even before she had told Thomas. Sharon didn’t wake up until they got to Hank’s she stretched in the seat beside Thomas and looked up smiling. She wasn’t sure how long they had been sitting there but she reached up and rubbed his arm to get his attention as she smiled. Then she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes with her other hand. Thomas glanced at the stop light before he looked at her, he could see the smile on her face as he smiled too and nodded to her. “I’m happy if you’re happy.” He said knowing he tried but then to stop trying so hard, he could try he thought. “Okay, I will see what I can do, but no promises.” He teased though really he would do his best not to push his luck with her. After all she was the kind of person he was lucky to meet or at least get shot by and the one woman who he had let closer to him than any other.
He had no problem with the choice being hers but a great opportunity, he didnt want to be a reason she had not made the choice. Thomas simply smiled and nodded to her glad that she had chosen to stay, well it wasn’t as if he would have been waving the flag to say goodbye to her. He was about to ask her dad if he could have permission to marry her so really doing that long distance was going to be an issue. The drive hadn’t taken long and once he had parked up outside Hank’s house Thomas waited for Sharon to wake.
Thomas stared at the house trying to see if the man was home, there were a few signs of life as he left Sharon to sleep. He wasn’t in the habit of waking her unless he really needed to and given that he felt like Hank was about to killing him for asking his question. Any time left with Sharon when he was still alive was going to be good. When he felt her rub his arm Thomas grinned as he watched her for a moment. “Morning sleepy head.” He joked as he motioned to the house. “I think he’s home.”
Was it a good or bad thing? He didn’t know but there was only one way to figure that one out. “Before this goes any further, I just want you to know that I love you.” He said guessing that if it went entirely badly then now would be the best time to tell her that. While he still had his teeth and could talk.

Sharon could only shake her head at him. “I’m easy sweetheart. I promise” she replied quietly. It really didn’t take much to keep Sharon happy. When he said he would try that counted in her opinion. There were times that she knew trying was all she could ask for. Sharon had a hard time letting men close to her and she’d let Thomas in, and she’d never regretted it. Sharon nailed him with a look when he called her sleepy head. “I needed my nap. Let me be” she teased him lightly stealing a kiss from him as she smiled lightly. Right. They were at her dad’s. Suddenly even she was afraid of what her dad might say. Leaning on Thomas’ shoulder she poked him lightly in the nose. Anything to ease the thick tension in the car. “I love you too” She shook her head. Really she wanted to call him a chicken but she didn’t think that had any place right now. Running her hand along his neck she rubbed her thumb over his lips and smiled at him. Wrapping arms around him as she placed herself in his lap. There was a big smirk on her face. “Easy or not you deserve the best.” He said knowing that he would still try but maybe he could work out a way not to be so trying about it all. There were a list of times when the women in his life had managed to prove all his assumptions right, that was until Sharon came along. Yes she had shot him but that was his own fault but other than a little rough start she had been the one woman to make him see that things could be different from what he had known for most of his life.
Thomas chucked when she teased him and stole a kiss, it was a welcome distraction from the street and the house they were outside of. “I know, sleep is good. But twenty four hours later I figured you needed to be woken up at some point.” He teased her, if he could have done he would have let her sleep a lot longer but then if he did then he wouldnt be about to be walking into a lion’s den. He just hoped Hank was in a decent enough mood not to kill him right on the door step.
Thomas smiled when she spoke; those words were good to hear he though considering it might be the last time depending on how the day went. He knew not to make a joke about Hank murdering him though it didnt stop him from thinking it. He was only distracted when he felt her hand long his neck and thumb over his lips. He gazed at her to see the big smirk on her face as she was in his lap as he wrapped his arms around her too. Thomas leaned toward her as he kissed her for a moment, “You really are the best Sharon.” He said as he glanced toward the front door. “So are you really ready for this?” He asked her grinning, he couldnt have been happier to be asking what he would do it was simply the fall out from that, he didnt know what to expect.

Sharon shook her head and laughed though there was a beaming smile on her face. "And If I already have the best?" she questioned as she rolled up out of his lap not forgetting to return his kiss before she did so. Once she was out of the car,she stood on the bottom door frame to hoist herself over the top of the car. Rolling her eyes at the comment about sleeping for 24 hours. Sharon didn't sleep that much!!! She just liked her random cat naps. They were refreshing. They were really going to go forward with this. Not that Sharon didn't want to, but she was scared of her dad's reaction. Scared of what he may say or do. "You can't have the best babe, you're mine not yours" she was totally informing him that he was the best in a very unique manner, of course he was his own person but yeah... okay this was just confusing now. They would probably argue about this until the cows came home if they could. They'd had the discussion before. Right now it was just a way to banter as a distraction. Sharon decided to knock, yeah she had a key but she didn't know what was going on inside. It was just manners. Hank's car was the only one in the driveway. Oh right Erin's was in the shop after getting slammed into by another vehicle while in the courthouse parking lot. She was glad that Erin wasn't in there or her dad would have had a conniption fit. Speaking of Lou, she was the one who opened the door. Sharon tugged on Thomas following Lou inside. Lou disappeared into the kitchen. Sharon dragged Thomas into the living room. Mostly she didn't want to intrude on the conversation in the kitchen. Lou's arms wrapped around Hank at the table. "Sharon and Thomas are here. You going to come join us?" she already knew the answer but she asked anyway. Meanwhile Sharon found herself wanting to go back to sleep on the couch. Hardly enough sleep lately. It was starting to show. Except she knew she wasn't going to be able to hide it from Hank. Chances are he already knew from work. She rubbed her eyes and laid on Thomas' shoulder while they waited for the 'adults' to come join them. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Thomas rolled his eyes when she spoke, “Then I think your gauge on the best of off by a bit.” He joked, honestly if he was the best then there was a whole other world out there for her that she was missing. He could see her on the arm of some amazing good looking rich guy who could give her the world on a platter and yet she was rolling out of his lap, kissing him. Thomas grinned and got out of the car before locking it, he knew her cat naps were random how she did it he’d never know.
To him it was hours of sleep not just minutes but then he hadn’t really been the greatest at consistent sleep himself. “Okay okay, disagree to agree?” He offered a little confused between which yours he was going with as he grinned. He could argue his point though getting into a fight about it wasn’t exactly the best idea on the doorstep of his future father-in-law if he made it that far alive. The next twenty minutes should be a good test but then if he did die at least he could do so happy.
Thomas could see Hank’s car, good or bad though when the door opened he was relieved to see Erin there too. The sane one was in the house, thank god for that he thought silently letting a small sigh of relief escape. If there was one person who could calm Hank down it was her so it was literally the best timing he could have gotten. Thomas smiled and said hello before Sharon tugged him inside, oh this was going to be a fun afternoon he thought as he felt his mouth go dry. Thomas placed an arm around Sharon when she laid on his shoulder.
Hank was sat at the table until he felt Lou’s arm around him, Sharon yes was glad to have her there but him, yeah civil and nice and no fighting he thought smiling toward Lou. “Yeah why not.” He said as he stood up, both of them where there well it wasn’t unheard of but he hadn’t expected them at all. Hank reached for Lou’s hand as he went through into the living room. “Hey you too.” He said attempting to be entirely normal until he caught sight of Sharon. He knew she had been busy from work but he could see she hadn’t gotten enough sleep at all. “Cher you need sleep.” He stated as smiled glad to see her there.

What Thomas didn't understand was that she was on the arm of some amazing good looking guy who did give her the world. She couldn't think of anyone else to have beside her in life. Her hand laced with his. As they waited for Lou and Hank she did the best she could to keep him calm. Sharon heard her dad's voice. "I took a nap in the car" it was honest even if it wasn't enough sleep for her. She had a feeling Thomas would make sure that she got sleep. Lou was there to calm Hank down, Sharon was kind of thankful for that as she got up to give her Dad a hug. "I'll sleep. I promise" she kept her promises. Pulling away she was back on Thomas' shoulder as Lou put a hand on Hank's shoulder and massaged it gently, guiding him over to the other seat before some sort of a fight broke out. Though Lou was soon curled up on the couch beside Hank with her head in his lap. She herself was getting tired and it was not uncommon for her to fall asleep in his lap if he was downstairs. Erin was predictable. With that being said, most of the time so was Sharon. It had been a long day and she decided the days events were just best left unspoken. Sharon wasnt sure how long she was going to last before she fell asleep again. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Nervous just wasn’t in it, was it death he was facing for Hank was...they guy was a lot of things but surely if he was asking that would go in his favour. It wasn’t as if they had eloped though he had asked about it. Hank raised his brow, the one thing his daughter wasn’t was a great liar so despite the fact that a nap didnt exactly sit well with him, he knew she wasn’t making it up at all. “Good because you’re human Cher, you need rest.” He said looking toward Thomas to practically say ‘make her’.
Hank hugged Sharon, glad to have her there where he knew she would be safe. His house was just that a safe place for family and he had missed having people around though now with Lou there the place had a new lease of life upon it. One that made it easy to enjoy being home a lot more than he had done since Camille had passed. Thomas just nodded to Hank’s look, “I’ll make sure she gets some rest.” He said with about the only breath he had left that he knew he could speak with.
Hank relaxed into Lou’s touch as they went over to the other seat, better to be separated than to start a fight he thought smiling when Lou curled up on the couch beside him. No fights he thought as he eyed Thomas who seemed too nervous for his liking. Thomas was glad that he could feel Sharon on his shoulder as he decided to just get the inevitable over with. “Hank, Erin...” He started not entirely sure on the wording for it, ‘I am going to marry your daughter and you cant do anything to stop me?’ No that was too harsh.
‘I’m doing this and that’s final’ no that was too, well final. Just get on with it he thought as he looked nervously toward Sharon before he stared at Hank and took a breath. “I’d like to ask your permission to take your daughters... erm Sharon’s hand in marriage.” He said not sure if he made his point clear, “To marry her with your blessing... sir.” He asked suddenly feeling like his throat was about to close as air was now at a premium as he stared at Hank seeing the man’s face and trying to work it out.
Stunned? Annoyed? Killer? He thought before he heard the splintering of wood and breaking of glass as if a door had just been kicked in. Thomas barely registered the noise as he was caught in a world of his own staring at Hank. Hank was caught up, first Erin and now Sharon what was wrong with the world he thought wanting to yell at Thomas though all he managed to do was to hold onto Lou. Hank was too stunned to hear the glass or the noise of what was going on.
Hank only knew something was wrong when Thomas turned slightly in the direction of the hallway. Just in time to see a face and a gun. “There’s folk in here!” The person screamed before waving the gun in the direction of Sharon and Thomas. Thomas made sure to stand directly in front of Sharon; it was more of a wheeling turn to make sure no one came near her.
In all of a matter of seconds Thomas was facing an intruder, he heard the loud bang before he felt the stinging in his chest. At first it felt like he had been hit with a football, a winded feeling before the pain seemed to really hit home. His legs felt like they were simply air as his face paled and he dropped like a stone to the floor, hitting it with a thud as he stayed down there trying to catch his breath which became tougher with each breath.

It was good to be home. This was what she considered home at least when she wasn't at her apartment. Her apartment was more of a place to stay where she wasn't underfoot all the time. Where she could have her own space. But home was family. Which is exactly what was in that room with her at that moment. Of course Thomas would do as Hank said. She knew that one person could put fear into Thomas and that was Hank Voight. As Thomas tried to formulate words Sharon's hand rubbed up and down his arm. She was reminding him it was okay to talk. Though somewhere between him talking and Hank not being able to formulate a response she had Thomas between her and someone shouting. Fear wasn't the word right now as she saw Erin grab Hank's gun from the drawer and fire. Though with Thomas blocking her way she hadn't seen the first gun go off, she'd only heard it. All the color in her face drained. Another round went off. Erin hadn't missed the mark but her dad had always told her to make sure of things and she did just that. Sharon took her scarf off from around her neck. The only decent thing about her ex being a paramedic was that he had taught her some of the basics, even if he was a complete jerk. Erin was paralyzed almost in shock but Sharon was about to lose any composure she had left. Sharon had pressure on the wound. Italian was coming off her lips. Worried Italian and mixes of anger rising up. "I've got you" three words she finally managed to get out of her vocals. It had been easier watching him take a bullet from her than for her. Sharon was trembling and unbelievably scared. There weren't words only worried facial expressions and tears as she tried to focus. When Erin tried to help Sharon wouldn't let her. Erin backed away. Sharon was hurt and protective. There wasn't much that was going to get through to her. She was focused on none of that though as all her attention was on Thomas. Chest wounds were... no. Sharon wasn't going to think that way. She wasn't sure who was on the phone with 911 but she knew everyone in the house understood how to make those calls. "Thomas" she couldn't think more than to just stop the bleeding. Keep checking on him and try to check his pulse rate. As much as she hated ambulances, when you needed them they were... always slower than you thought. Time was in slow motion. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Thomas felt her hand rubbing up and down his arm, it was okay to ask Hank and not get killed for it. Well at least the man was out of words, that had to be a positive thing Thomas thought though before he could even hear a response good or bad everything seemed to happen at once. In Hank’s house he was looking down the barrel of a gun that wasn’t held by his potential father in law. Good or bad it was still a gun and then all he could think of what to protect Sharon. She had enough going on that day without getting hurt.
For a moment or two Thomas wasn’t sure who was shooting at who, he was trying to count the bullet but the pain in his chest was making it a little difficult to concentrate. Thomas looked at Sharon trying to understand what she was saying but he couldnt understand it until she swapped to English. “You... alright?” He gasped feeling it tougher to breath with every breath, it didnt matter about him he thought just her. If she was alright then it was worth everything though what was going on escaped him entirely.
At least it wasn’t Hank he thought trying to remember anything about the face he had seen. Thomas could see Erin trying to help and Sharon having none of it as he reached a hand toward her. He was starting to become oddly familiar with ambulances he just prayed that it wasn’t the guy from the first time he had been shot that involved Sharon. If it was that medic then he’d walk to the hospital himself. When Sharon said he name he smiled weakly toward her. “Sharon.” He said trying to at least sound as if he was alright, just another day.
“What did he... s..say?” Thomas asked coughing a little, “Did I miss... what was the answer?” He asked her wondering if he had missed Hank telling him a yes or a no. It hardly mattered either way but then he was trying to do things as Sharon wanted them. “Least... he didn’t.. shoot me.” Thomas joked feeling the metallic taste of blood in his mouth.

Hank was too stunned to say much of anything to either of them. Were they actually serious about this? Like real marriage, Sharon had actually shot the guy and now they were... It was like he was a step behind when all hell broke loose. All of a sudden Erin grabbed his gun from the draw and there were gunshot going off in his house. Yes he was still at home and not on another planet as it took him a moment to realise that as he saw the colour drain from Lou’s face.
Standing up Hank went over to Lou as he had his phone in his hand dialling 911. "Is everyone alright?" He asked a little rattled. Gunfire at his house and his head was spinning as he could hear Sharon’s Italian but hadn’t a clue what she was talking about. Thomas was on the floor bleeding and the first thing he could think was ‘it better no be on my best carpet’ though he knew that was being ridiculous. It wasn’t as if the guy could help it and if anyone was going to shoot him it was Hank. Since that had been taken away from him then he wasn’t too sure what he was going to do.
The people he loved most were in that room as he started relaying the information to the operator as he saw Sharon not let Lou help her. “She’s only trying to help.” Hank said hoping that saying it might be better though getting through to Sharon when Thomas was hurt, maybe not the best thing to try and explain. Hank moved around Sharon and Thomas toward the mark Lou hadn’t missed. He kicked the gun out of reach before he came back toward them all. He hung up his phone and went to take the gun off Lou. It was something he had done a thousand times to other officers, though Lou wasn’t CPD. “It’s okay. Just sit down.” He said a little more firmly as went to hug her for a moment.
Hank heard the question that Thomas asked, the guy was shot and he wanted an answer was he nuts? Hank knew what he thought about five minutes ago but the guy had just taken a bullet stood in front of his daughter. “Yes, fine it’s yes just no eloping.” He stated knowing that setting terms wasn’t the best of times but then again he didnt know what was going to happen.

Sharon narrowed eyes on him. "Thomas don't talk" she whispered. She was trying so hard not to cry, so hard not to let him see the pain in her face because it would worry him but she was terrible at that. "This is gonna hurt, I promise I love you" She replied as she did the only other thing she knew to do. Knowing the bleeding wasn't going to stop with just pressure she pulled a barrette from her hair and clamped her fingers on the artery before pinching the barrette closed around to keep the artery closed. "Just stay with me Thomas." she replied. All she could do was control the bleeding. Sharon didn't want Erin's help. Erin had things to worry about like how she had just shot someone. She didn't need more on her plate. 'I've got you" she reminded him. When he went to talk she shushed him. "Babe. Right now I need you to focus on staying with me okay. Don't talk. Just stay with me" she was sounding like a broken record but she didn't care. Any other time it may have been funny; but not when Thomas was on the ground. Sharon could hardly hear her dad on the phone or much of anything else going on as she blocked it all out. Sharon could see that he had blood coming from his mouth. That could mean any number of things but she didn't like the sight of it. Sharon was squeamish around blood usually, but there wasn't time for that. She was squeamish around blood but she would do anything if meant saving someone she cared about. Hank said something about not eloping, and right now that was the farthest thing from her mind. Right now she was worried about Thomas just being okay. She could hear sirens, but in her mind they weren't fast enough. Though she could tell they had been nearby when the call came in. "Stay with me alright" she whispered softly. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0
