"No, I don't suppose you'd be where you are, if you were wrong very often," Evan replied honestly. Someone with her military background and experience was certainly better than capable. It must give her fascinating insight into the situations she faced now as a detective.
He listened to the reason she gave as to why he had needed to be cautioned about stealing WhitTech's designs. "I think you're getting a little too used to dealing with the criminals in our fair city," he teased. "Having me around is totally going to do you some good." Evan frowned. Had Tess seriously just suggested 'tech guy?' He could think of worse ideas—a part of him was even half-surprised she hadn't actually suggested one of those instead. At least considering he earlier opinion of him. Maybe things were starting to look up, after all. "I'm still partial to scientist, but I could live with tech guy. Let's do it." And then she had to go and suggest Doctor Evan. "Evan is fine. I am not a TV life strategist."
The smile that touched his lips was small, almost like he was hiding a secret he refused to tell. "Nope. He has nothing to do with this." Perhaps he really was something of an enigma to her—she seemed to be struggling to understand why a civilian would willingly throw himself into the line of fire. Either way, Tess had most definitely missed the mark in her assessment. Maybe he'd let her in on the why eventually, but that day wasn't today.
Evan grinned, watching her fight to keep her excitement from bubbling over. She was about five seconds from going full-on kid in the candy store. "Absolutely! I like to geek out too. This'll be fun!" If nothing else, a trip to Cross Consolidated could prove to be a good bonding exercise for them both. "I mean, you do happen to know a Cross now. I can make that happen. Plus, I'd be interested in getting your thoughts on some of the current projects. So name the time. I'll give you the tour." Tess Walker

“You got it in one, not that I’m right all the time but hey you can be the exception to the rule I guess.” She said trying to be a little less standoffish with him. After all he obviously knew what he was doing with things, he read the schematics easily and knew what not to do so really outside another bomb squad detective was there really going to be anyone better to work with she told herself.
Tess couldnt stop herself from laughing saying she had spent too much time with the criminals. “Well who else am I really going to hang around with all day, I mean once you’ve heard ‘I didnt do it’ once it is still funny no matter how many times it’s said.” She explained with a grin though those four words got old fast given that nobody did what they actually did. “We’ll see how much good.” She said with a grin, well already he had made her laugh so that was a good start.
“So we’ll go with your idea Scientist but I might still call you tech guy. A peace offering for ... well you know earlier.” She said deciding that if he could at least get a vest with what he wanted on it was a start to maybe a fresh start with things. “You’re not Doctor Even... aww I’m disappointed. Was hoping for some life strategies but guess a girl cant get everything.” She teased.
Tess eyed him carefully when he spoke about his father had nothing to do with it, well there was one thing for certain there was more to the story than he was letting on. She decided that pushing too much on their first day was not her brightest idea and so she left it be. Maybe at a later date she would figure it out or at least pry it out of Evan but for now, Tech Guy was simply there because he was and she would have to leave her curiosity there for now at least.
Tess tried her best to be relaxed and casual as she shook her head, “No I dont geek out... I just you know. Little geek out.” She said deciding that hiding her grin was going to be twice as difficult as simply letting it go. “I do know a Cross, surprising what the day brings and only if you’d be okay with it, wouldnt want you to get in trouble over it.” She said knowing that Cross Consolidated was a big firm and well getting in trouble for letting her geek out wasn’t exactly what she wanted. “Whenever is good by me, just let me know and I can take a tour any time. At least you know I will give you my honest opinion, good or bad Mr Scientist.” She said trying to find a nickname that would stick with her or she would just circulate the ones she had already.

Evan gave her a skeptical look. "No family? Friends?" Maybe it was true, but she couldn't be that much of a workaholic, could she? Tess had to let her hair down and have fun sometimes. There was one way to make sure that happened... that was with him staging an intervention. "You're coming out drinking with me and a couple of my friends this weekend. Let's say after that tour of Cross Consolidated. No cop stuff. I'm not taking no for an answer."
And here she was wondering how much good he'd do her. They had their answer to that already. "Just think of me as the comic relief in those buddy cop shows. You know, when we're not getting shot at." So... hopefully never in the bullets flying category, but he knew better than that.
Tess agreed to tack scientist as the wording on his tactical vest, but she got to call him Tech Guy. He shook his head, more than a little amused. He definitely had to fight back a wide grin. She just didn't want to give up on that nickname. "I think I can live with that arrangement."
Giving Tess skeptical looks seemed to be the norm now. Is that what she called a little geek out? He wasn't buying it. "Whatever you say, Tess. Whatever you say."
He scanned the room, noting several detectives hard at work at their desks—either conducting interviews or typing away on their computers. He assumed now that the captain had dismissed her that she was going to have to return to her normal duties—just now with an amazing new partner. "So... what does a typical day at the precinct look like for Tess Walker?"

Tess gave him an equally sceptical look back, “If you meet my family, run for the hills.” She said though really she was being brutally honest about it. “My mother was a Chicago politician and if there’s anything wrong with politics... well lets just say if you see her coming your way. Run.” Tess explained with a grin. Family was complicated and there was a reason she chose to be a cop over anything else, at least a cop you knew what the rules of engagement were. Her family, there were no rules or codes to go by.
When she listened to him talk about coming out drinking she nodded, if this was an intervention well could she really say no to her new partner. “Sure, no cop stuff and it sounds like a lot of fun. Sure you and friends can handle it?” She teased though really she wasn’t entirely sure that after a tour of a life time she wasn’t going to be the one bouncing off all the walls. Tess found herself laughing as he spoke about being the comic relief. “So you’re that guy... you know it’s been a while since we’ve had a comedy act around here so have at it. Just remember to duck.” She said still laughing through what she was saying.
“Okay then Tech Guy.” She said with a grin, as soon as she could she would have that vest made up for him. At least if he did get shot he was going to get the same amount of protection as the rest of them did. Though really who would shoot a scientist? Tess smirked as the conversation turned to a little geek out. “I say it. Little geek out now and again.” She replied grinning, well all things considered about Evan he was growing on her which was annoying her just as much as it impressed her.
Tess raised her brow as he asked about a typical day at the precinct. “Well since you asked why not follow me.” She said as she set off around a few of the desks before she came to her own as she sat down behind the desk and pointed to the chair at the side of it. “Welcome to your new seat Tech Guy.” She said with a smile as she cleared a space on her desk so he could at least have a corner of it. She glanced at the stack of files next to her keyboard as she half them and passed half across to him.
“So this is normal, we look through these from our district and fire department. See who needs a visit, a check up for explosive materials, any missing explosives reported from construction sites and we order them as a matter of priority.” Tess explained, “So you up for being the comic relief for this?” She asked with a grin, “If you find anything interesting then flag it and you might get your first field visit if I can get your vest made up fast enough.” She added before she sent the quick email request down to storage. Within about ten seconds they had queried the name on it as she confirmed it.

Evan thought about that. A career politician? He might just heed her advice on that one and run for the hills. He didn't know what it was like growing up with a mom in politics, but he did know what it was like to grow up the son of a billionaire—someone who was the president and CEO of a multi-national conglomerate. He was close to his dad—to his whole family, actually—but that made things difficult sometimes, so he could understand where Tess was coming from. "Sounds like things were a little complicated for you too." Of course she would ask that question. Could he handle it? Yeah... no. That'd be a definite no. All caps. "Remember I told you I know WhitTech's CEO? Vanessa and I are probably going to be on the floor after the first round of drinks. Don't let that stop you from having fun with the others."
Evan laughed at her insistence, holding up his hands in mock surrender. "All right, Tess. You win. Little geek out it was." It wasn't the final word, however. "We'll just have to see how you handle actually being at Cross Consolidated surrounded by all of those shiny new prototypes..."After asking what a typical day looked like for her, Tess led him over to her desk, clearing off a corner for his use. Taking a seat in the chair she had indicated as his, he nodded, as she explained the stack of files and what they would be looking for. He tossed the file—the first—into a low priority discard pile. "That particular combination of chemicals won't do much." Not if you were trying to make something to hurt people. It'd make for a pretty show, sure, but not much else. He went through about two or three files that were more of the same—nothing that would draw undue attention. There were one or two routine check-ups that needed to be conducted, but nothing out of the ordinary there. And then there was this one, the file he was holding now. "This... this could be a problem." Missing explosives. Enough to cause some major problems. Yeah, that was something they were going to want to look into. Tess Walker

Tess grinned as she tried to do the best impression of her mother. “Complicated is only a figure of speech darling, it’s quite simple really. Smile like the camera is always there, smile if your heart breaks and act like an angel.” Tess said before she shook her head, that pretty much summed everything up in life. Rub shoulder with the right people, never get caught out and always dress appropriately never for function. Simply if it hurt then it was right.
“You know the rivals CEO?” Tess said stunned, not that he wouldnt know the rival because that would make no sense if he didnt but drinking with her. “Ah dont you worry, the CPD will show you how it’s done. If in doubt always make sure you stand next to a plant pot at events... or fish tank.” She added grinning, “Or my absolute favourite tell the bar tender every time you order a vodka to make it water... just remember to keep the right bar tender or it can go south fast.” Tess could hold her drink as well as her mother could though actually getting the practice in on that was few and far between.
Did anyone really want a bomb tech with a hangover fiddling around with anything that might go boom? Safer for her to stick to the light stuff. When he mentioned the little geek out again she laughed, “Oh I’ll be fine, very calm and probably bouncing off the walls but hey little geek out right?” She said trying not to laugh because she knew she would be like a kid in a candy shop. Some people liked football, baseball or cars and for her it was the technology. Yes she was that kind of person who would take to the worlds smallest screw driver faster than a football game any day.
Tess glanced at her files before she listened to Evan. There were a lot of cases where the chemicals just didnt cut it to make more of a fizz. “Nope, since when does microwaving a foil tray count as...” Tess shook her head as she tossed the file onto a different part of her desk. Honestly sometimes a boom wasn’t always a ‘boom’. Tess glanced up from her files as she looked at Evan. “Okay, what have you got scientist?” She asked wondering what had jumped out at him.

It was similar to what Evan had dealt with as a child. He suspected it was true for the children of anyone prominent, just as it appeared to be for Tess. As the son of a billionaire, you were constantly in the spotlight and you never knew who was watching you. You couldn't act out and be the rebel. Well... you could. It just sucked a lot more when the country, or the world, might be taking note. He nodded his understanding. Evan couldn't keep the amused expression off his face if he tried. Tess seemed shocked that he hung out with Vanessa regularly. Not that he could blame her. Their respective companies hated each other, as did their fathers. "Apparently it's a small city. We met at a coffee shop. Totally had no idea we were each other's competition—and it still took us a whole year to figure it out too. By then it was too late. We'd already hit it off." Or, that's the story they told everyone, at least. The real version of events was about ten thousand shades of red more embarrassing. And they'd agreed never to let the truth of that night see the light of day. They'd both gotten pretty good at covering it up, but at least the next part was true. "Doesn't matter to me that she's a Whitmore. She's my best friend."
Evan looked at Tess, trying to decide if she was serious. From standing next to potted plants to telling the bartender to make it a water every time you ordered a vodka, there were ways to avoid getting completely hammered. His brow wrinkled in confusion. But why would you want to? "That's... just... no! It takes all the fun out of drinking!"Oh, no, she hadn't just said that! Evan laughed. No way was bouncing off the walls considered a little geek out, but he continued to play along with Tess, if she really wanted to stick with that story. "I suppose that depends upon your rate of speed bouncing off said walls. I may need to write a mathematical equation to determine just how much you're actually geeking out. You can't argue with science!"Evan handed the file over to Tess. "Here. Take a look." He gave Tess a minute to review the information. "Looks like we have a substantial amount of missing explosives reported. You could fashion a pretty good bomb out of that, if you know what you're doing. Enough to do some serious damage."Tess Walker

Tess was still getting her head around the fact that two people from rival companies actually talked to each other. Murder could be committed for less though really? Whittech and Cross Consolidated? Talking to each other, it was more of a new story for her than a new captain in the precinct. “It took you a year!” she spluttered as she shook her head, “Yeah we’ll get those detective skills of your sharpened up so no more competition gets to you.” Well he didnt exactly seem all worried about consorting with the enemy though a year to find out.
“Aww, well at least you two can play nice. Makes a change from secrets and daggers being drawn.” She joked though really she would have loved to have seen their faces the moment they found out that they were each other’s competition. Tess grinned when he spoke about it taking the fun out of things, “Oh it does but the other option... headlines and grumpy parents. You’re right though, no fun in not doing.” She added deciding that if they did go out she was going to try and toughen him up a little on the alcohol stakes or at least let him have two before he hit the deck.
“No I wont argue with science, just the mathematics behind it because me bouncing off said walls. It’s more of a slow motion thing than hyper speed.” She joked figuring that she would do laps of the place just to make sure it was real before she started her bouncing. Well it was that or pretend to be strictly professional until the moment that she did go crazy and start jumping up and down like a three year old on too much sugar. Maybe Evan was going to turn out okay to be a partner she thought having hated the idea ten minutes ago but now, well it was looking a lot better than it had been.
Tess took a look at the file Evan handed across as she glanced over the pages. “I agree, so do you want to take a look and see what we have?” She offered deciding that prolonging taking him outside into day light would only make things more difficult. Better to see what Evan could do now than find out when it is too late she thought as she glanced at her watch. “First though, we need your new vest, care to take a walk down to the requisitions?” She asked deciding that even if the name wasn’t on it yet she wasn’t about to get him shot without a vest on the first day.

At least Tess seemed to be amused by the story. Stunned that it took them so long to figure things out, maybe, but amused nonetheless. So much so, Tess wanted to hone his lacking detective skills. He couldn't blame her there. She kind of had a point. It seemed... very obvious in hindsight. "The only reason we even figured it out at all? She wore a WhitTech hoodie. I may have made a comment about them not being my first choice. That... was a little awkward."But when it came to Evan and Vanessa, awkward friendship was the name of the game. And, if they were anywhere remotely near a bar, really drunk friendship. There was no cloak and dagger, no secretly trying to sabotage each other. If you didn't happen to know one was a Cross and the other a Whitmore, one might even have assumed them old childhood friends. The all out corporate warfare, on the other hand, would be an apt description for their fathers. There was no pulling punches when it came to those two. Evan had to bite his tongue to keep from laughing when Tess said she wouldn't argue the science, just the math. This was a battle she wouldn't win, no matter how hard she tried to fight it. "You know I'm actually a genius, right? I'm really good with both. Good luck trying to win this argument." Oh, yeah, because teasing her about this was so worth it. "It would be irresponsible of us not to," Evan pointed out. It had absolutely nothing to do with this being their first foray into the field. Okay, who was he kidding? This totally had everything to do with that. He practically rocketed out of his seat, ready to take on their first case... the only problem? He didn't know where requisitions was. "Uh, which way is that?"Tess Walker

“Ouch, that has to be the harshest way to find something like that out.” Tess said feeling a little sorry for Evan. Everyone had made that one comment about something or someone that they lived to regret but ‘not your first choice’ ouch that had to hurt. All thanks to a hoodie, well it was one way of finding out who your girlfriend was though Tess preferred the background check version. Run a name and hope that their prior history wasn’t on the CPD wall of fame.
She couldnt imagine how difficult it must be and have been for the two to be friends. Companies at war over the same thing and it struck her a bit Romeo and Juliette though she couldnt imagine having the ‘this is my significant other’ conversation when the parents realised. Maybe it was safer to work with the CPD at least that way Cross and Whitemore didnt matter, to her it was now Evan the Tech Guy or Scientist depending on the day and her mood too.
When the conversation turned to science and math Tess raised her brow at his genius comment. “Define genius.” She said with a smirk as she shrugged. “The math can be changed to make the science fail, too much of this and too little of that and science experiment goes wrong. I’ll give you science if I get to keep math?” She offered as a bit of a peace talk though she would argue her flawed point forever if she could. Math hadn’t been her strongest subject until it came to her job and then she was good with it. Ask her to do the same with oranges and pears and life was doomed.
“Very irresponsible indeed.” She said grinning, was she crazy to actually smile at the thought of going out to see what was going on but then this to her was what Cross Consolidated was to him. Tess chuckled seeing him practically rocket out of his seat. “Slow down, calm and collected or is this your mini geek out?” She teased as she pointed down a hallway to try and give him some sense of direction. It was down a hallway to the lift and then to the garage that housed a cage full of toys to be signed out for the day.

There'd been a misunderstanding somewhere along the way—one Evan needed to clear up. Things hadn't been as bad as Tess seemed to be assuming right now. "No," he assured the detective. He and Vanessa were too good of friends for something like that to have gotten in the way, though she had insisted he attend a WhitTech corporate function with her. "A little awkward for a couple of minutes, sure. Not anything that would really come between us. We're... well, we're not our dads."He didn't miss the detective's smirk, so he fired back with his own ammunition. "Do you really want to know my IQ score?" Technically, that qualified him as a genius, but what did Tess consider proof of such? Personally, Evan tended not to put much weight into those scores; as far as he was concerned, it was just a number. Exceptional intellectual ability and ingenuity truly defined genius. "I'm glad we're on the same page." Evan appreciated Tess having his back, the same way he would have hers out there, but he didn't want to be coddled and left behind in the precinct. Fortunately, he and his partner had worked past that stage and gotten to the point where the civilian might actually be useful in the field. All he needed was his custom title tactical vest from requisitions. "Down the hall," he confirmed. That would be the elevators then. Got it. "Meet you there!" He didn't look back to see whether Tess followed him—he just took off, coming short of bounding down the hall like an overgrown child with a new toy, which was good. Maybe Tess wouldn't lay it on quite as thick. He pressed the button to call for the elevator. All he had to do was remain calm and collected—or, at the very least, all he had to do was a better job of portraying that front than Tess had when he'd invited her on that personal tour of Cross Consolidated. Unfortunately, the longer he stood there, the more he was convinced this elevator was trying hard to compete for the title of slowest in Chicago—or that's what it felt like. Were seconds actually dragging into hours? "I'm beginning to think the stairs would have been faster." Tess Walker

Tess grinned hearing Evan talk about it being a little awkward, “Not the dads, right because then I am sure you wouldn’t be anywhere near each other. Still it’s like Romeo and Juliette in my head, good that you haven’t let anything come between you.” She said smiling wondering just how true that was though if he was actually telling the truth she was all for it. There was far too much hurt and interference with things these days for her liking so it was nice to think that two people could beat a pattern.
“Oh you have an IQ score as well? A doctor and an IQ score, I think the CPD is on to a winner here.” She teased trying not to chuckle, “Let me get high nineties?” She asked knowing she was probably selling him sort by a good hundred or so points but then where was the fun in admitting he was smart. Far smarter than she was but then she wasn’t going to admit it, no it was much more fun to annoy him about it for a while.
“Yes the same page today, cant make promises about tomorrow though.” She said with a slight grin, if it was up to her he would be benched and on desk duty but then he probably had enough pull to throw himself out of the front door before she had managed to escape the front door. Tess nodded when he confirmed down the hall, when he took off Tess grabbed her stuff and tried not to laugh at the sight. And he thought she was enthusiastic about Cross Consolidated, honestly he was like a two year old.
She had far more skill in not acting like a two year old by about an hour, yeah right. Tess caught up to him at the elevator as she pressed the button again. “The stairs no, you wanted the authentic CPD elevator experience... it takes a minute or two but takes at least ten to get to another floor.” She said having never really managed to time the elevator or stairs correctly since she had worked there. The elevator had a mind of it’s own and the stairs were reserved if she felt like trying to be healthy. Tess glanced over at Evan, “Why, is the wait making you nervous?” She asked with a sly grin, oh if she was caught out with excitement then she hoped the elevated took its time to see what he did or how far calm and collected went with him.

[attr="class","evannah"] [attr="class","evanleft"] [attr="class","evanleft2"] | [attr="class","evanright"] Evan nearly choked on Tess's reply. Yeah, Vanessa was intelligent. And funny. And—he could practically feel the red creeping onto his cheeks—sure, she was pretty. But there was absolutely one hundred percent nothing romantic going on there. What on earth would make Tess think that? "Romeo and Juliet? Are you serious? We're just friends!"But once he'd recovered enough from the initial shock of that statement, he snickered when she guessed in the nineties. It was easy to tell she was teasing, though he still took the bait. "Actually, an IQ of ninety is decidedly average. Genius starts at about one hundred forty."She went on to tease him about being on the same page for today only. Tomorrow was another day, after all. If he was being honest with himself, now that they'd moved past that rough spot in the Captain's office and immediately after, Tess was growing on him. "Please. You're going to love having me around." He flashed her a cheeky grin. If it frustrated, infuriated, or confounded her, it had done its job. "We'll be friends before you know it!"The long wait continued, as Tess explained how the elevators worked around the precinct. Basically, what it amounted to were some of the worst wait times ever. You'd think the government could address improving the elevators around here on at least one of their budget meetings. But... no. Of course not. It was the government. "Talk about inefficient," Evan grumbled as the two partners continued to wait. "You sure you don't need a mechanical engineer to look into that?" All he wanted to do was see the change Requisitions had cooked up and then give his tactical vest a whirl in the field. Preferably before he hit the age of seventy. Mercifully, the elevator finally arrived. Tess had most certainly not been exaggerating those wait times. "After you," Evan said, holding the door open for her, then stepping in himself. He was going to be very unhappy, if this unreliable piece of machinery happened to get stuck on the way down. At least there was a list of what things were on what floors. He pressed the appropriate button and once the door slid closed, the elevator began its gradual journey. He waited, mostly patiently, but his foot began tapping against the floor. What had Tess said? Ten minutes to get to the next floor alone? There was no way this estimate was accurate, but this was going to be a long trip, as he considered timing it on his phone. When they arrived at their floor, he once again held the door open for her, as she exited. Evan had already made up his mind. "We're taking the stairs next time," he grumbled. Authentic experience or no. At least this hadn't been a bloody emergency. Tess Walker [attr="class","evanright2"] |

Tess gave him one look before she chuckled, yeah right it might be on his side only as she didnt have Vanessa there for a comparison but she knew romantic when she saw it. “Yeah yeah Romeo, I might have your vest changed still.” She teased as she rolled her eyes, “Whatever lets you sleep at night Scientist. Might what to get your money back for the PhD though, doesn’t take a doctor to see it.” She said with a grin, oh it was too good of an opportunity to pass up she thought not to take a little leeway with it.
When he took the bait on the IQ she grinned and shrugged, “I’m sorry Evan, one hundred and thirty nine is good but just not genius level I’m afraid. I’m sorry to have to tell you this partner but you’re like the rest of the world, just average.” She teased putting her best sad look on her face which came with a surprising ease. She was still teasing him as well he had managed to pass her tests and those ones had thrown her a loop when she started so she knew he was way above one forty and a lot smarter than her but then who needed to be smart when she could tease him about life in general.
Tess rolled her eyes as he said she’d love having him around, well it made a change from working on her own but still she was reserving judgement even if she had decided he was pretty much alright. The Captains office had been a shock and really a civilian but a smart civilian that could give back as good as he got, well she had to appreciate that. Seeing his grin she laughed and shook her head. “Strong statements there but if you’re alive by end of shift I might believe it.” She said deciding that it frustrated her, infuriated her more and confounded her but she was actually enjoying it.
All that needed to be said was government and that about summed up the speed of any mechanical thing in that office. “I’m sure if that elevator got an upgrade your engineer wouldnt be working with space age, he’d need pre seventies gear to fix it.” She joked though really a faster elevator would be nice. It would save on running down the stairs a few times a day when actual urgency came to the forefront of life. It was funny to watch him wait for something that she had always just considered another piece of equipment as much as the gun on her hip.
When the elevator finally arrived she was surprised he held the door for her before she kicked herself and took a few steps into the elevator and thanked him. He most definitely wasn’t a cop because most wouldnt even bother to hold a door unless she was on a coffee run. Needless to say the journey to the right floor took just as long as expected as she heard his foot begin tapping. Tess stepped out of the elevator thanking him again as she motioned the way to find his new vest. “Stairs it is, it’s your daily dose of cardio all in one.” She said not sure if he would regret the stairs comment once he actually started using them. “So now were here, any last minute requests for decorations on the vest? Tassels or pink feathers?” She asked grinning.

[attr="class","evannah"] [attr="class","evanleft"] [attr="class","evanleft2"] | [attr="class","evanright"] Evan tugged at his collar. Yeah, it was starting to get warm in here, as Tess tried to project feelings onto him that he just didn't have for his best friend. Romeo! Bah! Whatever helped her sleep better at night. "Oh, don't tell me you're one of those people. Men and women can't be friends. They have to sleep together."His eyes got bigger for a minute. Even if she were teasing, that hadn't been what he'd meant at all. "I... I didn't mean to suggest you were average. You seem to be exceptionally competent at your job." Or that's what it appeared like to him, at least from the little he'd been able to piece together so far, but there was no need to inflate her ego. He was quite certain he'd never hear the end of it. Evan jumped at her offer. All he had to do was survive one shift? That sounded easy enough, as long as he avoided any gun fights... or knife fights... or any fights in general really. But it was doable, and if it actually convinced her that he was he going to be totally amazing to have around, it was worth it. "Deal." He wasn't accepting take-backs at this time, especially considering how the last bet they'd made had turned out for her. "Okay, so maybe we should be looking into upgrading to a transporter instead?" That would certainly cut down on any... performance issues they were having. Instantaneous transportation would do that for you. He snorted. He found it funny, but he could be such a geek sometimes. And, really, who didn't appreciate a good Star Trek reference? It was a classic! But when talk turned to upgrading—and he used that word very loosely—his tactical vest with tassels or pink feathers, Evan gave her a stern look that couldn't be mistaken for anything else. He continued to follow her instructions, heading down the hall to the last door on the left. It seemed more like the entrance to a supply closet, but if this is where the precinct wanted to stuff Requisitions, who was he to complain? He stopped in front of the door. "How about no? We need to represent the CPD professionally when we're out in the field. So don't be putting any ideas in their heads."Tess Walker [attr="class","evanright2"] |
