Ben was finally back to work, there was no happier moment that when he managed to get back to walking into the firehouse. A few weeks off had sounded fun to begin with but then there was only so much he could actually do. Now he was back to what he would say was normal and back to active duty doing what he enjoyed. He had barely managed to chuck his bag into his locker before the klaxon sounded and the voice spoke through the house. ‘Truck 81, Squad 3, well established car fire at the Dock Side car park.’ There was the old familiar echoes before the sound of scuffling feet hit the floor and people moved from where they had been. Offices, down time, kitchen the house practically erupted into a hive of activity as people worked to get to the appropriate place before the time scale ran out and they were going to be lagging behind the group. Practice drills were for a reason but this was one of those real time calls that couldn’t be practiced. It was nice to be back but give him five minutes to at least settle in. He slammed the door on his locker after dumping his phone in it, the one thing he didn’t do was take his phone out with him. It made little difference to him give he communicated by radio most of the time. There was no pause as he pondered over the urge to dig his heels in over it Ben moved quickly out to the Squad truck as he started to pull on his gear. It was just another day he thought as he hauled himself into the truck, he realised then that things were still a little sore but nothing more than a twinge here and there. we've lost it all my heart is beating im gonna pass the test
Matt had been there maybe 10 minutes and the alarm was going off. He couldn't say that they weren't annoying during shift change but they did happen. He knew that Harris was just now back to full shifts as of this morning and so when she came dragging out of the backroom he shook his head. "Pick it up Harris" Normally she was faster. He made a mental note to talk to her later. Right now they had to get moving. He made sure everyone was in before he gave the driver the signal to pull out of the bay.
"You good for this Harris?" he questioned over his shoulder.
"Yea Lieutenant I'm good" he heard her reply. She honestly wasn't sure why he was worrying so much. The man worried way too much for his own good in her opinion. If it was one thing she hated lately it was the people around here acting like something was wrong lately. She could handle herself.
"You aren't a candidate anymore. No Excuses." he was still a bit upset with her. Lately. she had been out of line and he was going to let her know.

Kelly had just settled in with the paper when the alarm blared, dispatch telling them about a car fire at the docks. That's never good, he thought to himself as he immediately got to his feet, put his boots on and headed for the squad truck. He had no idea what to expect at the scene, but he was sure he and the others were about to find out. This is gonna be fun, he thought sarcastically. Putting these thoughts aside, he motioned for Cruz to start the truck before leaning back and allowing his mind to run through various scenarios. He had to be prepared for anything...

Hearing Casey talking to Stephanie he had considered going to tell the Lieutenant to take it easy on the woman. There was that thing called a recovery time he felt like yelling but he simply had to ignore it. There was enough trouble already. Ben was still trying to figure out how much trouble he was in with Severide, his first day had been eventful and given what was going on he simply decide silence was the best option. Ben sat until he found it was unlikely he was going to be able to let anything go that day. It was hardly himself because he was usually one to just go with things or clown around. Except at work. He winced a little as he realised that he could not even make that claim to himself anymore. Ben leaned forward in his seat as he spoke up over the noise of the truck. “Lieutenant, are we good?” He asked deciding to leave the whole thing about why he was asking that out of the equalizing. The last thing he wanted to know he had a problem at a new house or that the Lieutenant would not have his back on anything. If it wasn’t simply fixable then Ben understood but he hoped it would be even if he had to do the worst jobs for the rest of the year.
Notes: Fire Information
So as above, there is a car on fire in the parking garage (picture below) and the fire engines will fit in the garage in case anyone wonders.

Stephanie kept her mouth shut on the way there and Matt was much the same. He had already expressed his frustration earlier in the day about her behavior since her return after truck 81 had rolled into the ditch. He had been home sick that day, and it didn't help his conscious any that his people were the ones trapped. They were all back at work now and yet Harris was the only one still hobbling around. If she wasn't feeling 100% then she shouldn't be back, he knew the toll it took on them not being 100%.
He was awaiting Bowden's orders for this car fire while they were enroute. When they got there the fire was already larger than it should have been for a car fire. "That's burning too strange to be caused by the car..." he stated skeptically. He looked for Severide's input. Severide was a lot better around cars and boats than was Casey. He had a strange feeling that they might be dealing with an arsonist maybe? Just what he didn't want.

Kelly wasn't quite sure what was going on with Stephanie recently, but he knew that it wasn't good that she seemed to be distracted. Distractions could lead to mistakes and mistakes could lead to fatalities. All around, it was just bad. Okay, he just had to focus. As he got out of his truck and frowned when he saw how large the flames were. That's not right, he said. This was supposed to be a simple car fire and yet the flames were this high? I've got a bad feeling about this, he thought to himself. As if he was thinking the same thing, Matt stated that the flames were burning too strangely to be from the car. "I know," he murmured. He just wished that he could figure out what was going on. He didn't like it when he didn't have answers, and he knew that Matt didn't either.
He then focused his attention on the car, watching the flames for a bit before heading for the car. They'd have to approach this very carefully. The last thing they needed was the car exploding on them. Okay, we need to figure out what kind of accelerants were used on the car, he thought to himself. If they could figure out what was going on here, they'd be able to take care of it properly.

Ben followed the others as he glanced at the car. It was no car fire he had seen before, it was usually a slow burn because of the confined space but this. This was different to what he was used to as he looked toward the others. Ben followed Severide, he was the Squad Lieutenant anyway and he had some making up to do given trouble had practically caused a problem to begin with. He glanced over to Stephanie wondering where she was fairing with Casey over the whole thing. He wanted to just tell the two Lieutenants’s to get over it but then that would hardly be the brightest choice in his life.
Work was work he reminded himself as he glanced toward the car again, “Extinguishers or hose?” He asked looking between everyone. Certain things were made worse with water and the last thing he wanted was for the wrong choice to be made as he looked at the surrounding cars in the garage. “Want anyone to check the other cars for fire, damage or accelerants?” He added, it was a long shot but then not everyone was a master criminal, some people were just silly in leaving things. He doubted they would find a ‘I did it’ sticker but then again it was worth a try.

It was Stephanie who spoke. "I would go do that but I don't think I should move... I see a bomb and from the looks of it, we might want the bomb squad out here. I know enough to know that it's motion activated I may or may not be in a position to set it off." she was cut off by Matt who started to speak. "Someone get bomb squad on the phone. Harris don't move." Just what they needed the hobbling fire fighter to trip a bomb switch if she so much as coughed. Was this woman for real or was she just a liability? The Truck Lieutenant was starting to wonder.
"Do I look like I am going anywhere Lieutenant? I tell you if I move I'm going to set it off... so you tell me not to move. I did pass critical thinking you know." Oh the woman had snark. "Can it Harris. No one is to maneuver anywhere close to Harris. Dawson get the extinguisher and go to the OPPOSITE side of the truck. I don't need two women down today." He was going to let Severide take control of the situation. Casey at the moment was worried about the condition of his men and women. They had to be alert and some simply were not.

Kelly's eyes flickered as Ben asked if they should use the extinguisher or a hose as well as checking for other accelerants. "Hose," he answered. Hose would give them a wide enough berth to step away from the bomb. At least...he hoped it would. His head then whipped around when Stephanie spoke up, saying that she had stepped on a bomb. Bomb. Holy hell! They were the fire department! They were not supposed to be dealing with a fricken bomb! Seriously, what the hell? Okay, bomb squad. They needed the bomb squad. He pressed the "Talk" button on his radio. "Chief, get the bomb squad out here. Taylor just said she stepped on a bomb," he reported. This is not good, he thought to himself.
He then fell silent and listened as Stephanie and Matt conversed. He had no idea if Harris was being extra snarky to cover up her fright, but hopefully Matt would just let it slide. Hell, anyone would say stuff they didn't mean in a tense situation. Heaven knew he had plenty of times. Okay, where was that bomb squad? They couldn't go in until it was cleared and he didn't want this place to burn to the ground while they waited...

His heart sank hearing the words ‘I see a bomb’. At a fire that was never a sentence he wanted to hear and let alone one from Stephanie. Ben looked toward Stephanie trying to fight the urge to at least drag her back out of the way but then that was hardly going to go well given that the order for her to stay still, and then the order for no one to go anywhere near her had been given. “It’s Harris Lieutenant, she’s on the bomb or see’s it.” He called out.
Ben did what Severide asked and pulled the hose from the truck. Oh hell they just needed bomb squad and to watch where they moved he thought as he glanced around. “Got the hose boss. What now? Do we try to get Harris out of there?” He asked not liking standing back and waiting for bomb squad. It was their people at the end of the day he thought.
If there was ever going to be a day to trust the guy standing next to you it was today. He had never dealt with a bomb or been on a call that bomb squad wasn’t there first. Honestly how unlucky was his new house he wondered as he glanced between Casey, Harris, Dawson and Severide. This was not something he was used to with any squad and sure a rescue yes, difficultly level high but a bomb. That was a new sort of rescue to him he thought.
Dawson did exactly as Casey said, “I’ll be alright Harris.” She called as she grabbed the extinguisher and headed to the other side of the truck. Talk about a call with a difference she thought, not only was it complicated enough as a fire but a bomb and her friends where there with it too. It was a headache of another kind to know that this was going on. The other option was that they tripped it and no one knew what was going on she thought as she watched the four others carefully.
“What are the orders Lieutenant’s?” She called out, she was a newbie at this and usually as a medic she was outside of the fire dealing with the rescue victims not in it. It made her nervous to be stood there with no training for this sort of thing though her face showed nothing but a steely gaze. She didn’t want to catch any crap for being the candidate that freaked out at the first sign of trouble.

Tess had been waiting for the call that morning, itching to get out and do her job even if it was to keep the fire department busy. She had a sense of guilt related to it given that putting anyone through thinking there was a bomb wasn’t exactly one of those must have experiences in life but she was told it was for a good cause. Or rather Voight had ordered her involvement in something that was above her pay grade. The man out ranked her and she was one to follow orders no matter how odd they might be.
Tess had no clue it would be the Chief that called, she rolled out with a few others who were under the impression that this was not a drill and a real problem. Still as she spoke to the Chief and said they’d be there in around ten minutes she asked to be put through to the people who were with the bomb. Radio only she had stated as she spoke into a hand held radio she had. “Okay, you’ve got Detective Tess Walker from the Bomb Squad, you guys sure about what you’re looking at?” She asked over the radio wondering who would answer.
So she was very sure what they were looking was a bomb because it had been designed that way. She had built the thing to look and be as real as possible, all the way down to motion activated though nothing that would go boom, just a sharp poof of smoke if needed. A good training exercise for her team, a lesson for the fire department and a sure fired way to make sure that the fire department were kept busy for a good long while.
(Let me know if there's any changes needed to the post)

Matt was not having a great day. He was the one who had to call Tess while squad tried to figure out how to get Stephanie safe. Okay so his mind was split between making sure his firefighter was safe and making the phone call that he knew he had to do in order to accomplish the former. Matt heard the exchange between Taylor and Severide as he waited for someone to answer the phone. Oh how he hated the CPD.
Matt was concerned about Gabby and going into this situation. "You follow Severide's lead. I'm still on the phone with the CPD" well more like hold but there was that. Then Tess came on the radio he hung up the phone. Well let's just air this for everyone to hear... Oh how he was so ready to kick her butt. "Nice of you to pop in detective" there was sarcasm in his tones. He took note of the fact that Stephanie was quiet and not moving. Right... that was so out of character for her.

Matt was on edge. And who could blame him? One of his people had just stepped on a freakin' bomb. Damn, is this house cursed with bad luck or what? he wondered. It wasn't the first time that particular thought had crossed his mind. No, the first time had been after Shay's death. And why not? Just look at everything that had happened to them: Andy's death, Matt's skull getting cracked, Shay's death....hell, even Katie had been hurt and she wasn't even a part of Fifty-One. So maybe it wasn't the house, but him. No! He couldn't think like that. That was crazy, he knew this.
He gave himself a mental shake as Matt spoke up, telling Truck to listen to him as he was still on the phone with the police department. "What, did they all decide to go out for coffee together?" he asked. Geez, hate when crap like this happens, he thought to himself. Okay, so he didn't have the best impression of cops because of Voight even though he had saved Katie's life, but he would try to be polite for the sake of what was going on. He then smirked at Matt's sarcastic comment of it being nice to see the detective. Polite. Right. He was supposed to be polite...

Gabby nodded as Matt spoke; follow Severide she had no problem with that at all. This had to be the strangest day she thought silently, bad luck all around that day. Bombs she was unfamiliar with, fire that was do able but this no this was another sort of bad luck. Gabby looked toward Kelly with a ‘what do you want me to do?’ look that was coupled with a look of fear for Stephanie. She was the one on the bomb she thought as she wondered what was taking the police so long. They handled stuff like this, where the hell were they.
As if on cue Kelly asked as she smirked, “Don’t forget the doughnuts.” She added though once she was off shift she was heading straight to Molly’s to forget the day. She always knew it was a dangerous job but between fires, arsonists and now bombs the day simply got more dangerous as time went on. Gabby simply stood and watched not knowing exactly what she should do, it was her first bomb as a fire-fighter and it was hardly something she wanted to repeat.
Ben could feel himself getting more and more uptight as the time passed, stay still was easier said than done as he never took his eyes off Harris. He would have walked over there and taken her place if he could be sure his actions would not set off the thing. Stephanie being quiet was enough to warn him something was wrong without him knowing what was going on. He could hear what Matt said followed by Kelly and then Gabby. What was this discuss breakfast moment he wondered as he bit his tongue in order to stay silent.
It lasted a moment or two before he spoke up. “Hey, do they want to get their ass down here or just have lunch before hand? I mean it’s not like we’re in trouble or anything... just a regular day.” He said sarcastically, so he could be written up later for that but his job did not involved pleasing the police. They could do what they wanted as far as he minded but jeez he wanted to scream that Stephanie was dealing with a bomb as if anyone had missed that. “Harris you okay?” He said trying to be as professional as he could though he had asked the world most stupid question in the process. Yes she was okay with the bomb Ben, that made total sense.

Tess listened to her radio trying to decide if letting any one of them know it was all fake was a good idea. No she was old enough and big enough to take the teasing she thought as she smirked, sarcasm was a good thing to her. It practically worked for every occasion and she was a huge fan of it. “Yeah just thought i’d swing by and see how you guys were getting one.” She said equally as sarcastically before she deciding that they were probably sweating bullets over a bomb that was fake and it was only fair to help them.
“Listen, it’s safe to come down there and see what we have right?” She asked knowing that she didnt mix well with fire at all. It was the one thing that terrified her, give her a bomb and she was fine but give her fire and she would be in the exact same space as any fire-fighter with a bomb. It simply wasn’t a good place to be. “Or do I need to put out the fire too since i’m here?” She teased although given the rivalry between CPD and the fire department she wondered if she would end up not coming out of the garage for that comment.
Tess began to walk into the structure with a bag over her shoulder of gear, she didnt see the need for a suit so if anyone asked then she could figure out that for speed and of course accuracy she was better without. If there was one thing her mother had taught her it was diplomacy and she preferred to go the opposite way. The truth was the truth and that was it, sugar coated or not it was what it was so of course she was the careful stepper when she needed to be. This however was more of a training thing and frighten the hell out of the fire department at the request of Voight, win win in her book.
