When it comes to friends, Edgar can be a good man to hang around. He's not all that big on small talk, or indulging in anything too work-related but get him a good six-pack and have an interesting topic, then he's all down for it. Most of his friends would have been forged in his time during the Marines (1992-2008) as well as his time in NCIS before being medically put out of action.

Enemies are an interesting bunch. In terms of work colleagues or acquaintances turned sour, Shep will play it off as if he doesn't care what they think about him - be it that occasionally it does get under his skin. His blunt and often unfiltered nature doesn't tend to garner him any favours in winning any personality awards any time soon either.

Enemies made by poking the hornet's nest by threatening his family or close friends will find him a force to be reckoned with should it fall that way, most of the time, he falls on the silent variety of folk who like to glare at the receiving party.

Howdy! Welcome to town! If you've a mind, Mattie is trying to rehab a run-down Craftsman, and might need to hire help for some of the more complicated chores, and I have Isla Hudson, a nurse who is learning parkour, and she might need some help around her place, too. Also, I have Alexis, who is 17, she works at a veterinarian office after school and likes to rescue strays.

Oh definitely, Ed's more than happy to help out with anything that Mattie needs doing. Of course, on the outset, it probably won't look like he's been in the service at all - but should they start talking more, I'm sure Ed will start opening up. I also had the horrid idea that sometimes Ed suffers from mild undiagnosed PTSD and often goes out drinking, maybe she finds him parked in his work truck asleep in the car park or something?

With Isla, I think it would be another case of them meeting whilst needing to do a job at her house or wherever she works maybe? I would have suggested that they meet whilst jogging but the only real exercise Ed does is going about people's houses fixing stuff and doing wood work. Or maybe they could meet at the hospital because Tova, his seven y.o daughter probably needs a check up or got hurt or something?

Can't think of anything for Alexis at the moment, though I tell you Edgar does have a soft spot for dogs, and I'm sure Tova might like a pet around too!

Both ideas sound good, although it would be better to switch characters? Isla lives in an small apartment, so she really doesn't need work done, but she'd certainly check on someone who looked to be passed out in a car.

And Mattie does have a house that is falling apart, she's doing what she can, but there are things like electrical and plumbing that are beyond her skill.

Hey .

So I've been thinking what we could do for an Ed and Lara thread.

If you want something quiet and low key we can have a social thread like you said where they meet in a pub, maybe play pool and chat a little.

Or if you want to do something with more drama and action I thought maybe we could throw some trouble at them by having someone from Ed's NCIS past pop up.
Maybe a killer who got away from him resurfaces and Ed helps on the case giving his insight.
Or they resurface to try to take revenge on Ed and Lara has to be his (maybe somewhat reluctant) protective detail until they catch the guy/girl? That could be fun.

Or we could mix the two if you like the idea.
If Lara is his protective detail or working on a case with him they could end up in a pub talking, drink and play pool for a while before the all the bullets fly.

Just some ideas if you are interested, its up to you.

Let's go with Mattie...you can assume the appointment was set up and he shows up...she could have heard about him through work. She's got a nice Craftsman home that is kind of shoddy but is being restored.

Matthew Cole - Definitely love the idea of someone from his NCIS popping up and around to cause some trouble and the fact that Lara would have been assigned as his protective detail, even though Ed would think that he wouldn't need one in the first place. We could definitely mix the ideas, maybe they head to the pub after all of it's over or something like that?

I was thinking some other people formerly involved could turn up dead (reason homicide/Lara would get involved) and it's obvious from that that Ed is next on the list? So they assign protective detail. WhsW do you think?
