[attr="class","Jessner"] [attr="class","Jessner1"] [attr="class","Jessback"] [attr="class","Jessnert"]Jessica took a step towards Eyal as they walked up the steps to the house. Her mind was heavy. After their wedding and honeymoon, she’d settled into things and it all seemed just right when this whole night of hell had unfolded. Now that he’d hired Don she would try and rest, but she didn’t want to hate the person. Jess was too friendly to not get along with people. Then there was also her brother’s incessant demands that she had her life all wrong. At least Evan treated her like a person and not an object. That’s probably why she confided him. Setting the phone down into her purse, she’d texted to ask for advice on the car ride home. Setting her purse by the entryway she started taking off her earrings. She wanted to change into something more comfortable. Jessica while she could dress to the nine’s totally preferred to dress much more for comfort. Kissing Eyal on his cheek she tossed her earrings into her purse. “I’m gonna go change.” She pulled away and headed for their bedroom. Stopping in the doorway to the bathroom she closed her eyes. Things tonight had turned into a right mess. After a few moments, she changed and hung her dress back up in her closet before washing the make up off her face and changing into her pajamas. The fuzzy pants were a bit of an addiction, she loved wandering around the house in pajamas. She soon reappeared and wrapped her arms around Eyal’s waist. Jess was a cuddly person, and at home it showed. ∵ @eyal ∵ [attr="class","Jessner2"] [attr="class","Jessnerlyric"]I learned from you I do not crumble

All Eyal wanted to do was protect Jess, it was all he had ever wanted to do and right now hiring Don meant he could do just that when he was away. It might not be the perfect solution but then he had to keep working; the business was hardly the sort of thing you just walked away from. The car ride home was a little; well it was strange for him because he thought he had done the right thing at the end of the day. Eyal was never one to try and explain the meaning of life but maybe he needed to this time.
Following Jess into the place he smiled watching her take off her earrings, being home meant that they could be more of themselves. He could at least relax and take the vigilant no friendly actions out of the equation for a while. He smiled feeling her kiss his cheek as he nodded to her. Eyal hung up his jacket and shrugged off his suit jacket before taking off his tie and unbuttoning the top of his shirt. It was about as relaxed got for him most days as he thought about that night so far.
Eyal was stood trying to think of ways to explain the evening but he was coming up short. His mind was soon taken off thinking when he saw Jess in those fuzzy pants and pyjamas as he grinned. She could be dressed up to the top but he still preferred her in fuzzy pants he thought sighing lightly feeling her arms around his waist. Eyal never thought he would be married to a cuddly person, if anything last year a cuddle would have terrified him but this year he enjoyed it when it was Jess.
Wrapping his arms around her too he stood there holding her. “Are you okay?” Eyal asked her quietly deciding that his direct way was best. There was no point in asking how she felt because he could tell that he might not get the direct answer. With an okay question it was either yes or no and a maybe meant a discussion though just holding her to him, fuzzy pj’s and all there was no place he would rather be.

[attr="class","Jessner"] [attr="class","Jessner1"] [attr="class","Jessback"] [attr="class","Jessnert"]Just because Jess didn't see eye to eye with Eyal didn't mean that anything was wrong. Those three words, she knew what he was after. Quirking a brow she quickly moved to kiss him so that she wouldn't have to answer right away. With her lips untangling from his she smiled. “Why wouldn't I be?” She was used to people trying to harm her. This seemed to be a normal thing, and there were no bullet holes or stab wounds. Reaching down she picked up his hand and ran her cheek along side it. Jess sported scars from being stabbed and shot. She also wore shrapnel scars from the ship explosion. None that were visible to the eye when she was wearing clothing, but she knew Eyal knew more than he should even if she didn't talk about things. “Stop worrying about the little things Ahavat.” Oh she could read worry a mile away. Her dad had that habit, worrying about everything. “We are safe, that is all that matters.” Jess rested her head on his shoulder as she snuggled up next to him. It wasn't that Jess didn't like people checking up on her, because she did appreciate the sentiment; the issue was when she said she was alright she wasn't ever lying about it and everyone seemed to think they knew her better than she knew herself. It was the reason she avoided her brother. At best, JJ might mean well but Eyal was easy to talk to, when she really needed it. Solving problems rather than just shutting her in a box and yelling at her all the time. If it wasn't JJ yelling, it was someone else being on her case. At home all of that melted away and that was just fine by her. ∵ @eyal ∵ [attr="class","Jessner2"] [attr="class","Jessnerlyric"]I learned from you I do not crumble

Eyal enjoyed her kiss; it made him feel alive in ways he never knew could exist until there was Jess in his life. Pausing he smiled right back at her though he could barely hide the confusion on his face when she turned a question back to him. Why? He hardly expected much more than a yes or no and now she wanted reasons why. A person had just tried to kill, harm, hurt or the other million words that could fit into that category and Jess asked why. Even when he felt her cheek under his hand he stared at her for a second or two longer.
“Why? Ahavah, today, the man, the driver. I do not understand why you need me to lay out the day for why?” Eyal answered not sure if he was entirely confused, misunderstood or his ears were no longer working. The scars Jess bore he knew about, those worried him too yet he knew there was little to nothing he could do to stop what had happened to her. There was no time machine or magic carpet to fix things. “I worry; it is what a husband does for his wife. Today was no little thing Jessica.” He said using her full name because he felt she might understand more about why he worried.
Safe. Were they ever going to be? Eyal hardly had a job that accrued fans, killers, nut cases, psychopaths yes. Safe was never a work he would associate with those kinds however he was one of ‘those kinds’. Shaking the thought from his mind Eyal tightened his hug on Jess for a moment when she snuggled up next to him. “All I want is for you to be safe and today, today I might have failed you.” Eyal explained, “I want you to have another set of eyes, to look out for you. Just in case.” It was the reasoning behind Don.
The move might not be perfect but the man had shown at least capable in some regards and if it meant Jess was safe. There was little more he could have asked from the world when he made a living taking for it. A world he never wanted Jess to find out about, see or become a part of. Again his hidden reason for wanting a body guard for Jess. Safe had a whole new meaning when he could look at a place and see how easily it was to get to a person. Jess was right, they were safe and that mattered so he would take the day and simply be happy to have her there in his arms.

[attr="class","Jessner"] [attr="class","Jessner1"] [attr="class","Jessback"] [attr="class","Jessnert"]Eyal could go from sweet to irritating quickly. Jess leaned into his hand, though her eyes suggested she was listening to him. Then he used her full name. Mentally cringing, she nodded. “I understand.” It was better to not make waves right? Oh how she wanted to say it wasn't worth worrying over because it was in the past. Dwelling on things made one bitter and Jess wanted to enjoy her life. She'd hoped the conversation would pass but she couldn't be that lucky. Part of Jess wanted to berate him for thinking he might have failed. Though all she could muster was a genuine and sweet tone. “You haven't failed me, M'hudar.” Then he was right back to the whole another set of eyes thing. They'd been over that how many thousands of times. “Yes, and you've made your point and I agreed.” her words were a bit bitter. Though she just stared at the base of the wall as she laid in his arms. 'You can stop shoving it down my throat now' yeah that little thought was going to stay in her head. Jess took a few moments debating if she wanted to apologize. No, because that would start a chain reaction and she didn't want apologies just because her feathers had been ruffled. Kissing his shoulder instead she just kept staring at the one spot on the wall. Virginia was seeming more and more like she should have never left with each passing day. ∵ @eyal, ∵ [attr="class","Jessner2"] [attr="class","Jessnerlyric"]I learned from you I do not crumble

She understood, it was all Eyal wanted to know really. By no means did he ever think Jess had a tinted view of the world, the kind that came with having no real exposure to the other side of things. She had served in the military, known the world for what it could be and all he wanted was to keep her safe. Dwelling on it, he could do that well and pouring over his choices; it was yet another issue he managed to have. He had two jobs; Jess saw one of them along with the man that went with it. The second job he wished would never cross the line though somehow he knew it was possible.
Eyal tried to smile at Jess; he did feel like he had failed her but maybe she was just unable to see it from his view. It was the bitterness in her words that told him when to stop; to say he was surprised was an understatement given that he felt Jess was the sweetest and kindest person in the world. Pushing the boat with his second guessing a choice and trying to explain it to death, it was a little more complicated but then the day had proven him right. Not that he would have stepped aside and let whatever happen, happen but things might have been different.
“I won’t say another word on it.” Eyal added trying to at least let her know that he was done with trying to reason about it all. “Now, what do you want for dinner?” Eyal asked smiling as he slide his arms tighter around Jess, kissing the top of her head lightly. “What we’ve got in or do you want a take out? We can even watch a movie of your choice too.” He was trying his best to change the subject though he was unsure if food was a better option or not.
