Despite her efforts, injury and exhaustion had put Isla into a bit of a haze, and the seat was so comfortable...well, she had actually dozed a bit while he was talking to her, and sorta in her subconscious, she could hear him and on occasion would mutter a response. Yeah, she'd heard about Emily dating a drummer and boys and girls seeing someone nice who was pregnant...or was it the boys and girls who were..? "Baby?" That cut through the fog and she shook the fuzz from her brain as she looked at him with a frown. "I thought I heard you say you were having a baby? Man, I must have more of a concussion than I thought!" she laughed as much as she could without making her head throb, then frowned more deeply. "Steven?" Was it true? She couldn't imagine him settling for one woman, even as much as he seemed to be doing well with that relationship, much the less tossing a baby into the mix...after all, that was pretty permanent, even if Alyssa turned out not to be. "Really?" Steven Hudson,

Settling down, yeah Steven had thought that was for other people. He has a string of women to his name, not all of them sane he had to add but then Steven was hardly sane either. Family was important and yes until his ‘other half’ became family, which he considered Alyssa to be Steven was liable to drop them and run if family called.
He also had a bad habit of knowing about fashion, to a point, being able to braid hair and knew how to french plat. It was all in a days work of knowing his sisters but when it came to relationships, Steven knew he was hardly the knight in shining armour. Though he was sticking by Alyssa, he loved her and sure it might not be the conventional ‘we met in a bar’ but things had changed and now a baby. He was excited to actually get to have his own family in whatever way that took shape.
Steven glanced at Isla for a second, was it really unbelievable for him to have come out with that. Previous history, okay yes but that much of a shock. “You don’t trust me, it’s true. I was there for the confirmation.” Steven said grinning though really, yes he could have shouted it from the top of the roof though after today he was too tired to even think about anything other than food and sleep.
“Really, it is a baby and its there trust me.” He said with a grin, “So you get to be an auntie and I get to be a dad. A real one or something like that.” Steven was still unsure about all of that as the news was pretty new to him still. It was hardly something he had thought much of in a way, the immediate here and now was more the issue about getting the house ready for a baby because in all his years he had helped look after kids not babies.

"Wow...Auntie Isla..." Her grin was crooked as she looked at him through half-closed eyes. "I like the sound of that...yep...yep...Auntie Isla's head hurts. I'll buy her drums because I really love my big brother so much! Or him...or, hey! Twins...that way there's one of each!" Well, it was going to be interesting, anyway. Steven had used his childhood and teen years taking care of family, then had kind of gone wild, flitting from girl to girl without settling. "You did okay with Em an' me. It'll be all right, and Alyssa's real nice. I just want pictures of you changing diapers." She was silent for a few seconds, then murmured, "I think I'm gonna puke..." Steven Hudson,

Steven grinned, sure it would be Auntie Isla, the idea was nice and now the idea was more than just one day telling his sisters they would be aunties. Steven furrowed his brown when Isla said her head hurt, no that was a bad sign he thought to himself listening as she spoke about drums. Oh he would never put that past them and really the last thing he wanted was a drum kit anywhere near untrained kid hands. “No way, I’m not suffering headaches for life for that, no they can have a drum stick but not a drum.” He teased not sure that he was even capable of looking after a kid.
To say he had a delayed childhood, sure it had been all buttoned down and business until everyone was capable of doing their own thing. Then the women, the parties, the work he maybe turned his teens about ten years too late but now he was doing the settling down phase. He had no idea if he was any good at it but then he was about to find that out.
“Oh you can have as many pictures at you want, it’s done with salad tongs right?” He joked as he heard Isla go silent for a few seconds. In itself that was unlike her until he heard she was going to puke. Steven slammed on the breaks, throwing his arm across Isla to stop her from hitting the dash at all, an age old well tested routine he found before he reached across to open the door for her.
“Okay we’re getting you to the hospital for a scan.” Steven stated deciding no matter what was going on there his sister was about to poked, prodded and scanned to prove that she was alright because this. No this was far from alright given what had happened.

The nausea had just been there, roiling but contained, at least until he slammed on the brakes, jolting her forward. While later she would understand that he was just protecting his car, at the moment it made her head pound, and she barely got the door open before she was emptying what was left in her stomach. Fortunately, she hadn't had a chance to eat, so it wasn't much! Breathing deeply, she sat hunkered over for a few seconds, head hanging, making sure she was done as Steven held back her hair and rubbed her back. "Going to have to get you some blue bags to carry in here," she muttered, looking up at him with a grin, referring to the blue barf bags that were in the hospital and on the ambulances. They were portable, sealable and handy to have around. "I'm okay now..." she grinned wearily, "we can go home now." Yeah, like that was going to happen!"I really don't feel too good...if Auntie Isla is going to teach her niece bad habits, I guess we'd better get her head examined...and maybe her brother's, too!" Steven winced hearing Isla empty her stomach onto the road, great his sister had walked away from the hospital and now he was taking her right back there. Sure it was a move he would have pulled a thousand times over but this was his family, he could and he could also yell at his sister for trying it. Steven held her hair back and rubbed her back gently, “You’re okay.” He said softly for a moment not wanting her to worry. “I’ll get blue bags but you should never have left that hospital today.” Steven almost scolded her though his tone was more worried than telling her off for it.
Grinning back for a moment he sighed, “Sure I’ll get them for the car but only because I’m sticking with you all week now and if it’s not me I will make sure it’s someone from the fire house. All day, every day.” He warned her, advanced notices for a rotation shift best buddy that would happen once he could arrange it. It worked and Steven was taking no chances at all.
“Oh sure I’m taking you home.” Steven added with a very direct and specific sarcastic eye roll. “Yours first Isla, you sure you are okay if I start driving again. Just tell me if you’re going to be ill again?” He asked not much caring about the car at this point, so long as he got his sister to the hospital in one piece nothing else mattered.
Steven kept his hand holding her hair as he rubbed her back some more wanting her to be as comfortable as possible, sure if he was in his ambulance he would have fixed her up with an IV and blue bag along with a collar and strapped her to gurney but he just had the car. While it was hardly beyond his skill set to make something work, he would rather a trained doctor looked at her. Simply then he could make sure she was okay, with maybe an entire head to toe scan just to make sure.

"They were so busy," Isla muttered, "and I just...got a ceiling dropped on me, no big deal." She managed a grin as she settled back in the seat. "All week? You want me to survive, don't you? A week with those apes from the firehouse is just going to make me suicidal on top of everything else!" Closing her eyes, she took some deep breaths and tried to relax as they continued to the hospital. "You can call her Prudence...or Penelope," she muttered, "both for twins, huh? Or...Harly and Harmon for boys..." Without opening her eyes, she stuck out her tongue at him, then winced as she felt the bump that indicated that they had pulled into the hospital parking lot. "Don't let anyone know I'm here," she mumbled, as if that was possible! "They'll make a fuss." No speed bumps...ah, man, he was in the ambulance entrance bay, bypassing the lobby, and take her in the back way."No wheelchair! I can walk!" Steven Hudson

“Yeah no big deal at all, you’re lucky I won’t tell mum about this.” Steven said knowing it was the last thing he would do but then if it made Isla go to the hospital and realise that she should have stayed. Sure he would play the mum card despite knowing exactly how that one would go over. “Sure I can make it two just to make sure, I want you to survive so yeah, I’ll force every fire-fighter in fifty one to spend a day with you and then see how fast you want your own room at the hospital.” He half joked, oh Steven was hardly above making that call.
Not out of spite or vengeance but just worry for his sister who he wanted to in equal parts protect and strange for leaving without getting checked out. “Sure Prudence would be great and Harmon sure, but if it was a girl I was thinking about naming them after their aunts but you know. If you’d rather go with Prudence...” He offered grinning, maybe middle names he wondered though what Alyssa would think he had no idea. They were still getting used to the idea of a baby let along what to call one, even a surname was complicated right now. Hudson or Zorin, Zorin-Hudson? Who knew.
Steven simply sighed as he parked up at the ambulance entrance bay, yeah this was his place to take patients and now his sister was one of them. “Isla, you’ve no idea what damage there is so yeah a wheelchair to go in to make sure you can walk out.” He stated jumping out of the car and making sure to pick up the nearest wheelchair he could find before coming back to the car. Steven opened her door as he placed the chair right be the door so there was no way she would be able to escape without getting into it.
“Trust me, I’m a paramedic. I know some stuff.” He joked grinning for a moment as he offered to give her a hand though he was unsure how Isla would take it. The paramedic was screaming concussion, brain issues, internal bleeding and the several other things that were caused even down to crush injuries for a falling ceiling. None of which were good for a human being to suffer let along his sister.

"Wheelchair..." Isla rolled her eyes and sighed, but submitted, knowing he wouldn't let her get away with less, and besides, she wasn't so sure she could make it into the heart of the ED without bouncing off the walls and drawing attention to herself. As if being shoved in a wheelchair like an invalid wouldn't! "And, sure, you can name them after us...Emila...Isilie...Stevisemily..." When she tried to laugh, she ended up wincing and reaching a hand to her head. "Were the lights always this bright?" She closed her eyes, her nose wrinkled up. "At least it's not so busy, but someone is going to recognize me..." Seemed from the sound of things that the commotion had died down some, which meant that most of the other victims from the explosion had either been treated and released or sent upstairs to a room or surgery. "Steven, do we really have to..." But it was too late, they'd been spotted, and she could hear the concerned tones of a nurse asking about her. Steven nodded at Isla, it was a hospital and yes she worked there but he was hardly going to take any chances with his sister. He would have argued the same for any patient but his sisters she got that extra degree of nuttiness involved in forcing her into a wheelchair. “Now out of all of those, I think Emilia is best and I just might do that.” Steven said grinning as he chuckled and glanced at the lights.
“Same lights as ever so you really should never have left here Isla.” Steven stated trying not to read her the riot act over everything. “Isla really, I dont care who sees you right now. You’re hurt and besides if they know you’re injured they might take it easier on you next shift without me writing a note in for you.” He added knowing that he was hardly above that in life. No if he had to tell the charge nurse, each and every doctor and even any patients he transported. He would make sure they knew to lay off his sister for a while.
The nurse asking about his sister, Steven tried to hold back the level of anxiety he had about the fact she had been allowed to leave without a proper check up. The entire reason she was back there was because she had a concussion at best and worst. Worst he could barely begin to think about.
(Sure feel free to invite anyone in, the only doc I have is Sofia)

Isla sighed, keeping her eyes closed against the light, wincing as the first nurse recognized her. "Isla?" Tony frowned as he looked at the small figure in the wheelchair, then up to Steven. Of course he knew the paramedic almost as well as he knew Isla, since he was here on a regular basis dropping off patients. "What did you do to her?" He grinned to show he was kidding, then added, "Man, she missed out on all the chaos...there was a bombing at the police station earlier, and our shift walked into a big mess. Come on." He wasn't going to worry about the formalities of checking Isla in, he'd get her into a bed first, and while it was still busy he was able to find a private room for her. "If you get her settled I'll get her registered," he told Steven. "What happened?" Steven Hudson,

Steven glanced at Tony as he pushed Isla through the hospital. Yes today had been a strange day, his shift had ended a while ago and now instead of knowing his sister was safe and well he felt let down with the chaos of the day. That anyone would get her just walk of the hospital. “Oh she did this one to herself today.” Steven said grinning though as Tony told him what had gone on that day, yeah he had walked into that mess and it was hardly a good one.
“Total chaos, it’s the only reason I’m thinking Isla managed to get away. She was in the explosion and left the hospital without getting checked out. A nurse not following the rules.” Steven teased lightly though all in all he would make her follow them now for the simple reason he wanted to know she was okay. Steven pushed Isla in the chair, following Tony to the private room as he smiled appreciatively at the man. “Thanks for this.” He said.
“Isla didn’t hang around to get her check up, now she has a concussion I’m sure of and worst case internal bleeding or a head injury.” Steven stated as he sighed, “But the nurse knew best to come home and be dragged right back by her brother. Isn’t that right Isla?” Steven said grinning though honestly she could have argued with him all night about it; he would have just ended up phoning for the ambulance instead of the car.

"I'm all just fine," Isla muttered, "and I have to be at work tomorrow." Glancing at Steven, Tony rolled his eyes. "Is she always this stubborn? If I'd been on shift she never would have made it out." He chuckled. "And I don't think you'll be working tomorrow. Rest..." "But, I..." Isla sighed and gave in, muttering, "Men!" "Get used to it!" He stopped the wheelchair next to a gurney, then asked, "Can you get on there yourself or do you need us to lift you?" When she stood to move, though, he hovered close, just in case, so she had nowhere to go between him and Steven. "Gown..." "Oh, man." Isla sighed and took the ugly blue and white oversized garment, then looked at the men. "Turn around." It took some effort, but she finally managed to get out of her clothes, grateful that she'd chosen simple sweats, then she flopped back on the bed. "Okay...and someone turn off the lights." Man, the brightness was aggravating her headache! "Hang on, I'll get you a blanket," Tony said, then he glanced at Steven. "You want to get her hooked up to the monitor?" The paramedic might not work there, but the equipment was essentially the same as what he was used to. Steven Hudson

Steven laughed when Isla mentioned work tomorrow, oh there was no chance she was going anywhere near work tomorrow. Not until the police knew what was going on and not until he was certain everything was alright with her. “Oh trust me, you should see her on a bad day.” Steven said grinning, “Well good to know but she’s not working tomorrow and if I hear one peep that she is even in the building without it being for herself. I’ll make sure the paramedics are a pain for the next month.”
So yes there was no chance he could organise a full scale strike, which was ridiculous but all the added little extras they could do to help out when busy. The paperwork they could take on and the ‘sure go ahead, I’ll wait five’ kind of issues. He could ask for a serious backlash and for his family he would do just about anything. Steven nodded as he turned around a little embarrassed, sure he had seen everything before much like a doctor but family it was different as he made sure to turn away.
“Sure we’ll get the lights as soon as we figure out what’s going on.” Steven said as he nodded to Tony. He reached for the monitors and the leads that where there as he opened a few packets of fresh tabs to attach to Isla. Steven watched the monitor as he made sure the leads were in the right place, double checking then triple checking to see that the information was now on the screen. “So Tony, how does it look?” Steven asked, knowing full well that he could read it himself but it was always good to get a second opinion.
“Figured her pressure is a little high but then I guess that’s us telling her what she is and isn’t doing tomorrow.” He added smiling a little as he watched Isla, there was no way she should have left the hospital. He was annoyed he had been working at the time but trying to leave that scene, there was no way he could have escaped it sooner than he had.

Isla sighed, giving in to the men, as if she had a choice! But she did appreciate the warm blanket that Tony brought back, then lay quietly as they talked over her. "Pressure is a little high," Tony observed, "but then, I'm here, you know...I make the ladies' pressures go up!" "Oh, please!" Isla muttered, looking at them and rolling her eyes. "Hey, you know the truth!" Tony laughed, then patted Isla on the arm. "Going to need an IV, and we'll have to draw blood...no arguing, ask your brother...or do you want him to start it?" "IV?" Frowning, she looked at Steven. "Do I have to..?" So much fuss over a little concussion! Sighing, she held her arm out. "Just remember what they say about payback." She really wanted to torment them more, but her head hurt and the light was bothering her eyes, so she just closed them. "Is she always this pleasant?" Tony looked at Steven. "She seems so sweet when she's working." Steven Hudson,
