|| TAG: Jafar Cabrera,|| WORDS: 0 || || NOTES: No issue at all and it is a good post. || The lack of a promise from Jafar said all she needed to know. Shani knew him well enough to know that he would never promise something he was unable to deliver on and it worried her. Even as he let her rant, yes she was worried about him and she had never been warned about anyone before. Of course through work but usually that was just an angry mouth piece who wanted an extra fix or just someone to yell at for the day. Then there was his smile; that smile when she said yes which meant she would say yes a thousand more times just to see it.
Shani laughed and felt him return the kiss. “You make it easy to smile.” She replied feeling the happiest she had been in a long time. To Shani a marriage was a partnership and she could look out for Jafar just as much as he could for her. It was her way of showing that she cared and loved him though how Jafar would take it. Well it would be good or bad she thought but he could learn just as much as she could about it all.
She just hoped he remember what he had asked her once the painkillers wore off. She could imagine trying to have the least awkward ‘well you asked this’ and a ‘do you still mean it now?’ conversation but then again he had to forget he asked first. “And once your let go from here, you’re coming home to stay with me.” Shani added, “No arguing about it either. That way I can see that you’re eating and not playing tough guy or doing anything stupid.” Shani wanted to keep an eye on him just to make sure he was alright.
It was enough of a shock seeing him there among the bodies of those other guys, thinking he was gone and then trying to keep him alive. The man was stubborn and the last thing she wanted was for him to try to do anything that would hurt him anymore than he was. His job she knew about but that she could live with, just the idea of him being hurt was bad enough let alone seeing him in hospital.

[attr="class","Jafarner"] [attr="class","Jafarner1"] [attr="class","Jafarback"] [attr="class","Jafarnert"]Jafar couldn’t contain his happiness, just to have her there for the moment. He would have ordinarily argued about going home to be under someone’s care, but he knew that it wouldn’t fly. He might be able to avoid Shani but there was no way he was going to avoid Saajida. The only thing worse than having a paramedic for a fiancée was having a medical student for a sister. He’d take his chances with Shani thank you very much. The man rolled his eyes. “I don’t need a babysitter Shani. And when have you ever known me to not eat?” Was she just looking for excuses. He knew that Shaahir wouldn’t clear him for work until the doctor had cleared him for duty. Though asking Saajida for that crossed his mind, but he knew that Shaahir would never accept such a thing. Though Jafar was tired, and these meds were playing with his head. “But right now. Right now I want a nap.” He tugged on her hand lightly. He was like a sick kid wanting attention. There was the man-flu and then there was being stuck in bed feeling miserable because you’d been through multiple surgeries. “Thank you.” He whispered as he nodded off to sleep. Shani was waiting for the argument about supervision. Men really needed supervision on a good day though being a paramedic she was hardly going to let him get away with not following doctors orders. If they said rest, rest was what he would do regardless of his feelings on that. What better way to make sure that a person followed what the doctor said, be there with them and it was him stay with her or she would stay with him though plus two kids it would make for an interesting move.
“Yes you do and fair point there. You eat but I want to make sure you do.” Shani said smiling; the last thing she wanted was for him to go back to work before time. Shani was more than a little protective but after what she had seen so far that day; she felt it was needed at least for a day or two more. If he insisted on landing himself in the hospital then yes, she would bug him all day long about what he ate, what rest he got and likely everything else in between.
The tug on her hand and wanting a nap, Shani knew the signs of a sick kid wanting attention as she fussed with his hair some before rubbing her thumb gently against his cheek. “No thank you.” She whispered back to him quietly as she watched him sleep. Shani kept her hand against his cheek as she perched herself on the edge of his bed. Listening to the monitors for any signs of distress, the rhythmic beeping and even watching Jafar sleep was relaxing all in itself.
If it was any other setting she might have fallen asleep right there with him but the edge of the hospital kept her awake. It was a familiar place, a home away from home as such and a place that held good and bad memories not just from work. It was the very reason now she watched and listened for anything that she could class as out of the ordinary. As happy as she was, she just wanted Jafar to be alright at the end of the day.
