[attr="class","Amandaner"] [attr="class","Amandaner1"] [attr="class","Amandaback"] [attr="class","Amandanert"]Amanda heard the parent comment as Shani came over and Amanda couldn’t help but chuckle herself even though it hurt to do so. Her laugh would give her away. “So in other words, he’s going to go into cardiac arrest trying to get her out of this place.” Amanda responded doing her best not to move too much under fear that things were going to hurt if she did. As Shani got her secured, Amanda wasn’t really sure she wanted to have a personal conversation with EMT’s right about now. “Amanda.” She decided giving a name might be a good idea. “Better question is what doesn’t hurt.” She felt woozy and like she was going to pass out at some point. Then again the circumstances it was easy to relate. Amanda tried to focus on Shani. “I need to call Fin. He needs to know that I’m alive.” She had a feeling that he’d see it on the news. That was the last thing that she needed was him going on some spree to try and get information. That was if he wasn’t calling her phone in about five seconds. To be fair, she had no idea where her phone was lying in all of the rubble and now she was worried so Shani was going to get her worried vibe. [attr="class","tannernah"] [attr="class","tannerleft"] [attr="class","tannerleft2"] | [attr="class","tannerright"] Recognizing the popular cultural reference to the mainstream character's troubled breathing, Tanner rolled his eyes. So, just because the breathing mask he now wore -- and not of his own choice -- mimicked those same sound effects, he'd become the butt of Shani's jokes. Surely she had better things to do than dish out sarcastic commentary directed at him. "I'm sick, not dead," Tanner reminded the paramedic, focused primarily on the injured detective. "I still have enough energy to lift a pen and write you up."In reality, it was an empty threat, coming from someone who shouldn't even be at the scene, and they both knew it. For anyone that knew Tanner, it wasn't something he was seriously considering, but most of his good-natured teasing ran the risk of becoming borderline irritable. Mostly because being sick was miserable. Tanner should be at home on the couch, eating chicken noodle soup, but Beth just had to go running out the door. He understood why -- her own dad in danger -- but neither could he stay put and watch her go. Tanner couldn't imagine responding to a call in which a member of your family was one of the victims, but that was the reality Beth faced. For Tanner, it had been hard enough coping with his mother's death because of a fire all those years ago. The familiar chill ran down his spine. Tanner would do everything in his power to ensure this didn't go the same way. Tony needed to be a priority transport out of here -- the fact that this was his fiancée's father notwithstanding. So Tanner flashed the man a look that said now was not the time to be playing tough detective or protective parent. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, you can shoot me later. Right now I'm trying to help you."Tanner nodded, already ahead of Beth as he waved down an agent to help him lift Tony, once they got him stabilized. At least some of the nearby counties were sending aid their way, but if Beth even thought about trying to do more than provide medical aid, he'd send her straight home. Lifting was most certainly off the table. Annabeth Tucker , Shani McGuire , Amanda Rollins , Anthony Romano [attr="class","tannerright2"] |

“I don’t doubt it; I just need you to get out of here first.” Tony explained to Beth as he felt like he needed to go back to the A,B,C’s of life with this one. If anything happened to his daughter while she was trying to help him, no that was never going to happen. He had lost one daughter the repeat of that was never happening on his watch. Then came the shooting part of things, he would shoot whomever he wanted to shoot. Especially her daughter’s fiancé for the ass comment that was his daughter this guy was talking about.
If he could have done he might have been a whole lot angrier at Tanner but the energy that took. It was a tomorrow issue for him; he could go around and kick the guys butt ten weeks from Sunday tomorrow but today. Today was a bad day, not the worst day but bad in his eyes. Tony then turned his attention to Tanner for a moment, he saw the look the man gave him and for a second he considered kicking the guys butt right there and then for looking at him like that.
“Help me by getting Beth out of here.” Tony said being deadly serious about that, “And if anything happens, you take care of her. Right now Tanner, make me that promise or I’ll haunt you from the great beyond. Pretty sure my bullets can travel from there too.” He warned a little less seriously about haunting but he figured he might get the message across to Tanner. Tony was trying to listen to everything at once, there were too many voices to keep straight in his head as he heard Amanda talking. It was a good sign he thought as he glanced at the red tag and looked to Beth.
He knew those tags; he knew those meanings as he tried to look toward Amanda. “What’s her colour?” Tony asked feeling more and more drained as he felt the colour go around his neck as he muttered something about being overly cautious. He tried to move though now with the collar his movements were even more restricted than with the wood in his side. “Amanda, talk to me.” Tony asked staring up at what used to be the ceiling; the day was strange already let alone with everything else.
“Am I drugged or are we being rescued by Darth Vader who things my daughter’s butt is nice, my daughter that should be home resting and a sarcastic sue over with you?” Tony asked only wanting to be sure he was actually awake still and not dreaming or having a nightmare. The pain felt all too real for that but he just needed to be sure someone else was sharing in it too, not the pain just the version of events.

“Could have fooled me... sir, respectfully.” Shani added grinning trying to remember he was still the Lieutenant, not that day but when he got back to work. He could still make her life a lot harder if he wanted to. “Go on and lift that pen Lieutenant, you know you love having me around to work with. You sure you want to get rid of me that easy?” She teased now slightly unsure if he actually meant it. The mutually assured destruction idea came to mind but then Shani was more a meet a force head on rather than bow to it.
If Tanner wanted to write her up he could, she would do the same for him breathing like Darth Vader over a scene he should never be at. It was like the good and the bad, good being she had extra hands, he was helping despite his obvious troubled breathing. The bad, he had troubled breathing and if anything happened he was an extra responsibility. Not a bad thing but the bad things tended to happen when people least expected it.
“Lieutenant all due respect, once we’re out of here you and Beth go to the hospital. Cannot have you collapsing while you write me up, I’d rather annoy you next week.” She added. Shani had nothing against Tanner; in fact he was a good guy from what she had seen and a good fire-fighter and partner for Beth. He just needed to be alive to do those things and her patience in trying to work with another Lieutenant; no she would eat them alive. At least Tanner knew how to take her teasing at least she hoped he did.
Smiling Shani was glad to hear Amanda chuckle, at least they could keep their sense of humour about the events unfolding. Shani was being her usual blunt self and the whole, tactful or thinking before speaking it was hardly her way of working. “I think that could be the up and down of it. Beth can bring him back from the cardiac arrest and he can start all over again.” Shani added as he worked trying not to smile too much about that. It was her partner’s father after all, if it was her father Shani was unsure what she would be capable of.
“Nice name.” Shani said as she nodded, “So what does not hurt?” Shani asked failing to spot the obvious answer there. It was tough to see what might not hurt on the woman, a blast, a falling building, a potential floor collapse, she could imagine a head to toe hurt from that. Shani hated those next words out of Amanda’s mouth, the who to call or rather I need to call conversation. She hated it because she knew that call, she had seen and heard too many of those calls. Shani tried to ignore the worry she felt from Amanda though there was no denying it was eating at her. “Sure honey, if you want to call Sea World you go for it.” Shani stated smiling having no idea why she wanted to call a fish’s fin. People baffled her.
Pulling her own phone from her pocket, Shani saw it was still intact as she passed it to Amanda to make her call. Glancing at Beth hearing her call. “I think Amanda has a head injury, she wants to call a fish’s fin?” Shani said looking a little puzzled but then people said the strangest things when they were injured. Shani had at least given her the means to make a call but to who she had no idea, if it was Sea World then so be it. “Other than that, she’s good for transport.” Shani stated before holding up the colour tag for Beth to see the last thing she wanted was to upset the other patient in saying it out loud. What Beth told her father was up to her right now.

[attr="class","Bethner"] [attr="class","Bethner1"] [attr="class","Bethback"] [attr="class","Bethnert"]Beth was wishing more than ever that she just get away from everyone. Getting her composure she tried not to be sarcastic to the others. Hearing her dad threaten Tanner though she'd had enough of it. “Enough.” Tanner would recognize that she was stressed out. “I have a job to do and I don't need people making things difficult. The next person who so much as tries to control what I do is going to regret it.” There was a cornered hiss to her words. Beth didn't yell, that wasn't her thing but she was yelling now. Finishing up what she was doing she let the guys move him into the ambulance. Beth was right at Tanner's side, just like he'd said; when she said she was going to do something she did it. Beth glanced over and saw the yellow tag that Shani was holding up. “Your partner is better off than you are.” There was a bit of pent up emotion built up and Beth sat on the bumper of the Ambulance once the guys had her dad loaded up. Tears were streaming down her face, tears she didn't want to show her dad. Damn being pregnant, she was overemotional and didn't need anyone's help at feeling more stressed out. As if remembering what Tanner had said, Beth got his attention once things somewhat settled down. “I need some time. Can you ride with Shani and Dad? I can meet you guys there?” They were going to need a way to leave the hospital anyway. It wasn't unusual for Beth to ask for alone time when she was exceptionally stressed out and wanted to sort her head before talking about things. Angry didn't even begin to explain it. She wasn't two and she was being treated like she was made of glass. Neither were the case. Men were irritating, but so was Shani. [attr="class","Amandaner"] [attr="class","Amandaner1"] [attr="class","Amandaback"] [attr="class","Amandanert"]Some people didn't listen. This Shani woman was apparently one of them. “Fin as in Finley. Not everyone is named David or John.” Amanda felt herself seething from frustration. Clearly this woman wasn't a people person. Right now Amanda just wanted out but no she was stuck here with all sorts of incompetence. Trying to get Tony to explain was pointless, he was already on the stretcher and headed for an awaiting ambulance. She was here until another one became available after all the more important cases were sent to the hospital first. Everything was spinning but delusional wasn't really the issue. Her head throbbed as she dialed Fin's number and left a message. It involved something about Chicago Med, the precinct blowing up, and wanting cheese-it snacks. Handing Shani back her phone she thanked her and then decided to take a short nap. It wasn't so much the head trauma as it was just being exhausted from the heat and everything else. There would be no waking her up to talk to her. Her vitals remained stable as she fell into a sleep. [attr="class","tannernah"] [attr="class","tannerleft"] [attr="class","tannerleft2"] | [attr="class","tannerright"] Tanner glanced up when Beth started yelling. From such a mild-mannered personality, that was unusual but, right now, Tony needed to be his focus. They could talk later when they weren't trying to save lives. Assuming Beth didn't spontaneously combust in anger before then. Considering her cheeks were flushed a bright red seemed a very real possibility at this point. At least Beth didn't go storming off, remaining fixed at his side. Getting ready to lift Tony onto a stretcher, Tanner looked down at the other man, giving him an understanding nod. Someone else might have been intimidated, but this was a man who cared deeply for his daughter. At the end of the day, if something were to happen, Tony just wanted to make sure Beth was well taken care of. Perhaps this could be the basis of future bonding. Might have been easier with a couple of beers and a barbeque, but if it worked… "You have my word."A future father-in law who maybe still wanted to shoot him, an upset fiancée, and a stubborn Israeli paramedic who wanted to keep him on a short leash… this day couldn't be going any better. Tanner nodded, relenting on at least one front. If Beth was requesting some space to clear her head and think, then that's what he would give her. Just so long as she wasn't working among the rubble alone. "I'm with you, Shani. Guess you have to keep putting up with me and my mighty pen."Amanda Rollins , Anthony Romano , Shani McGuire , Annabeth Tucker , [attr="class","tannerright2"] |
