Someone who is not willing to put forth the effort to at least try and get along? Ahavat, please let me think on it." Sighing she got up from the table right about then. Ignoring her husband was not on her to do list. After all, she respected him and his decisions though right now she just didn’t agree with them.

Jess wasn’t naive, she knew Eyal was after a bodyguard and not a driver. It was why she had been arguing this whole thing from the get go. Most normal people drove themselves around the city or walked where they wanted to go. There was also public transportation but she already knew how Eyal felt about that given their second meeting.

She didn’t hear much other than her maiden last name come out of Don’s mouth. The look on her face would show that he was accurate. “No one has called me Gibbs since I married.” She added to make the point. If he knew anything about that day on the docks, he’d know she’d tackled an Admiral who had been yelling at her for doing her job. Yeah, that whole day had been hell. To be honest, it was a day she wanted to forget but it had been brought up to prove a point.

Jessica relaxed once she was outside. She knew better than to know that Eyal would just let a sleeping bear lay. “I’ll be alright. I just needed some room to think.” She spoke honest towards Eyal though they were soon interrupted by Syri. Some night this was turning out to be.

“Both move, now.” Her English was broken and terrible. But the two would get the point. She’d have used Italian but she knew that Jess would not understand. If she’d used Russian then Eyal would be left out. So English it was. Jessica did as she was told and let the woman move her where it was out of the way of what was going on.

Though Jess caught glimpse of what was going on. What was with people always coming after her? Now she had a bounty on her head or was someone after Eyal and she was just caught in the cross fires? Jessica could only be herded away from what was going on as Syri did exactly as she’d been trained to do, get Jess out of the way. There was no need to fight when someone else had it handled. Jessica just had the look of wanting to go home written all over her face.

Eyal listened to Jess as much as he could; he wanted to give her all the time in the world to think about it but that did nothing for what he knew was out there. Eyal wanted to reply to her but then what more could he say about the matter other than yes, the time was given. He blamed Don for this as much as himself, if the man had half a brain he would have walked into this and tried his best to come across well. At least to Jess since she was the one having to spend the time with him.

Maybe he just needed to tell her she was getting a body guard, he had tried to disguise the fact in a job title but it was the same thing. He went where Jess did and that was the end of it, right now though all he was bothered about was the fact his wife was walking away. The one thing he had never wanted to happen. Then Don said those words, nothing about the conversation bothered him as much as the comment hell of a woman. As if he had no idea Jess was far out of his league and she could do so much better than him.

“She is a hell of a woman and I won’t have you even looking at her sideways. We both know what we can do and if you so much as think of my wife in any way other than a job. I swear there is no place safe on earth.” Eyal stated before walking off to find Jess, that had rattled him more than any threat could do. Hearing about more time to think Eyal just nodded, he wanted to give Jess all the time in the world but they just never had that.

Time got people killed as much as waiting and the last thing he wanted was for her to be in danger. Without warning Eyal heard the thud, Syri telling them to move and Don announcing that something had to hurt. Eyal only stopped for that brief moment to see that Jess and Syri were out of the way before he headed in Don’s direction. Eyal was barely bothered about the man just the one on the floor as he saw the knife, no. No one made a move when his wife was around though Eyal almost entirely forgot Jess had no idea what he did.

He only stopped when he remembered that Jess knew nothing. Eyal glanced around the area seeing no other threat that he could make out, he headed back to Jess and Syri. “Are you both okay?” Eyal asked disregarding Don entirely as he glanced over the two, his hands reaching out for Jess to make sure she was safe and unharmed.

THE ONLY EASY DAY

Don could see that he was right about her maiden name. “Apologies Mrs. Ranen.” Don replied though he seemed to have the right woman and from what he knew of that day on the docks she was impressive at that. It made him wonder just why a woman like that needed a bodyguard but then again if Jess was his wife, he would have hired someone as well just so she wasnt on her own. Don wasnt all that keen on making friends with the people he worked for but this time, maybe they could find a way to work together.

They had a shared military history at least and that bond seemed to go a little way with some people. Then again some people wasnt the guy sat at the table and the wife disappearing off after speaking in tongues. Don should have expected a reaction to his compliment, maybe he needed socialised better around people. After all it had been six months or so since he had been back and this job would be the first steady one he could get if he managed it. It wasnt like he was meaning to look or even make reference but then Jess was a hard woman to miss in a room.

“No offence but she isn’t my type. A little young for my taste.” Don added wanting to put the guys mind at rest even though Don didnt doubt for a second the man knew what he was doing or could kill him for looking. If he chose to do that then he was sure there would be a trail of bodies behind Jess wherever she went. It wasnt like she was invisible to the world at all. Still he took on the dont look rule as he just watched the man leave though he decided to follow.

Everything happened within a blink of an eye, one minute the man was following and the next the woman with Jess was whisking her away and Eyal looked like he could kill the guy on the ground. Don did his best to help the guy out and relieve him of his wallet at the same time, only fair for people to know who was after them he thought as he made sure to follow Eyal to Jess. “So you two really do need a bodyguard huh.” Don said as he was surprised an interview would take a turn like that.

Then again it just showed a need for one, maybe the job wouldnt be too boring after all he thought. Don pulled the wallet he had as he started to look for ID and information, it couldnt hurt he thought as he read over the drivers licence before glancing at the three of them. “Is everyone okay?” He asked wanting to know that before he either stuck around or left to see what other jobs he could find.

[attr="class","Jessnert"]Jess liked to be able to trust the people she had to spend time with. There was nothing worse than trusting your life to a stranger. Syri as she understood it was Eyal’s family so she didn’t really question his choice in the woman. Though to be fair, she didn’t really want a woman following her around. Being able to get away for a breath of fresh air was easier when men couldn’t follow you into the ladies room. Not that Jess tried to outrun them but it made things run a little smoother.

It was probably a good thing that Jess didn’t hear the continuation of the conversation between her husband and this McCarthy person. She didn’t like being talked about like that, but it wasn’t really her decision at that point in time.

Syri was on guard and put herself between Don and Jess before she realized who he was. Jess took a few steps back. Jess moved to beside Eyal when he asked if she was okay. “Yeah, I’m alright.” It was honest. It took more to rattle her after all she had been through in her military career before she left. Syri just gave Eyal a small nod as Jess snapped her head in the direction of Don when he mentioned them really needing a bodyguard.

Jess wanted to argue every excuse in the book. “A second set of eyes never hurts.” If it came down to it Jess would and could pull the trigger on someone. She’d been trained by a marine and federal agent how to defend herself if the need should arise. Even her stance suggested she was rather defensive. Jess had pulled the trigger on drug dealers robbing a restaurant and gotten shot for her trouble, but she’d managed to save a DEA agent in the process. Eyal knew that both her parents were federal agents, she knew there was no point in bringing it up again.

Though she wanted to question the man with the knife she decided instead to question the two men standing in front of her. Directed at whomever felt like answering or would be willing to answer she decided to see how much she could push the envelope. “Who is he and what does he want?” Okay so maybe her dad had taught her a little more than how to shoot.
