'You've gotten into my bloodstream' Zero five. The alarm clock was not supposed to go off that morning. Beth was off from work. Tanner would be starting his shift in an hour, she thought about calling him but she rolled back over and buried her head into the pillow. No she’d stop by and surprise him for lunch. No sooner had she closed her eyes and drifted back into a lull the pounding on the door woke her up. It just wouldn’t stop. Beth let the banging go on for a number of minutes. Realizing whomever it was they could possibly have an emergency. Tossing her hoodie over her pajama tank top she opened the door after peering through the peephole. The neighbors from another floor maybe? Nope. Opening the door? Biggest mistake ever. Beth was overpowered by the men outside of her door. While she had only been able to see one from the door, there had been others waiting. If it was one thing working against her it was strength. Annabeth was not a fighter, struggling was made near impossible as she was blindfolded and stuffed in some sort of large sack. It looked like something Santa would carry. For good measure she was gagged so she wouldn’t make noise as she was pushed into her apartment. One of them brought a woman up who had been badly injured. “We need help and you are going to help us.” Beth hated being told what to do, especially by people who were controlling her by power. “You will help us. Our friend is injured. You will help.” There was no room for answers. “If she dies then so will you.” The man kept the blindfold on for a few moments. When the neighbor came down the flight of stairs to see what all the banging had been about, he was shot on the spot. Beth squirmed and gulped. Another neighbor quietly called the police. When Beth was ungagged she yelled at the person. “You shot him.” Though she could see that the neighbor was still alive. “You want to save your neighbor then you save her. He still has a few minutes to live.” He tossed a bunch of things in front of Beth and pointed to one of the mafia’s assassins. Syri hated being touched but if this would help her live, then right now she had no time to be picky. Tag: @edwintucker |

It was going to be a bad day. He just knew it. It wasn't anything he could put his finger on: he just had a feeling. And as a cop, he trusted that feeling. And he was worried about Beth. Something was up. He could just feel it. He wasn't sure how he knew or why he was getting this feeling, but it was there. Biting his lip, he pulled his phone out and scrolled down to his contacts. Liv. He should call Liv. No, what was we thinking? He didn't have any proof that anything bad was happening. He just had his gut.
Aw, screw it, he thought to himself. He was going to check on her. He grabbed his car keys and headed out the door, going to Beth's name in his contacts and pressing the "Call" button. With any luck, they'd both share a laugh and she'd tease him about his over-protectiveness for the next two weeks.

'You've gotten into my bloodstream' The phone rang. Beth couldn’t get to it. Grabbing her phone the man took the battery out. He smashed the phone in front of her. “I gave you an order.” He hissed. “Make sure she lives.” The knife under Beth’s chin was too close for comfort. “Get that out from under my chin. I can’t fix anything If I cannot see.” Beth was scared to death but she was also used to being told what to do. Memories of her past came haunting back. She started working to get the bullet wound cleaned out. “She needs a hospital.” Beth stated as she started to work. “No hospitals. She dies then so do you.” Tag: @edwintucker |

Edwin frowned when he heard Beth's voicemail. "Hey, just calling to check up on you. Give me a call back," he stated and then hung up. Okay, now he was really worried. It wasn't like her to not pick up the phone. But then again, maybe she was busy with work. That had happened before. No, his senses were jangling and he couldn't figure out why. Don't like this, he thought to himself. Where had she said she would be going? Okay, he needed to think. He needed to figure out where she was and why she wasn't answering her phone.
Okay, think. He had to think. It was still pretty early in the morning, which meant that she was probably still at her apartment, so he would go there. With that, he went to his car, put the key in the ignition, started the car, and drove to her apartment. Once he was at the building, he parked and then went up to where her front door was.

'You've gotten into my bloodstream' By the time that Ed arrived the woman that Beth was tending too was already gone. Beth had somehow managed to get her a doctor that the men had agreed upon. But they weren't finished yet and so Beth was still their hostage the knock on the door caused them alarm. There were shots fired in the direction of the door. "Who did you call?" He hissed at Beth before back handing her. "I'm not expecting anyone." She was being honest and blunt but it only earned her another smack to the face. Beth could taste the metallic taste of blood in her mouth. "I did what you wanted. You promised you'd let me go!" Beth screamed through the house only to be knocked on the floor. "Check her phone." One of the two men demanded as he picked Beth up by the hair to force her to look at him. "Pity you have to be so pretty." He replied as he ran fingers down her neck. Beth didn't like to be touched. She began squirming to try and get away. "It's a compliment dear." Tag: @edwintucker |

Edwin frowned. He had a bad feeling about this. Oh great. Now he sounded like one of those Star Wars movies. Terrific. Oh well. It fit. It was how he felt at the moment. Something was wrong and he didn't like it one little bit. Okay, just stop worrying, he counseled himself. There wasn't anything going on. Everything was fine. Yeah, and maybe if he told himself that enough times, he would ultimately start believing it. Okay Ed, think. Why are you feeling so jumpy? he wondered silently. It didn't make sense, and he was well aware of that. However, he had enough experience on the job to know that he shouldn't ever dismiss his bad feelings, as they had saved his life on a few occasions.
Making a decision, he headed over to the door, his eyes flickering with concern. Something told him that he had to proceed carefully. Maybe I should call for back up. Something feels off, he mused. He didn't like that feeling and he had learned to not ignore his gut. So yeah, he should ask people to stand by. Making a quick decision, he took his phone out of his pocket, turned the volume down, and then relayed information to the local precinct through a text, saying that he wasn't sure what was going on but that he had a bad feeling, and that he wanted them all on standby. And yes, he knew he was using his position for personal reasons, but he'd rather seek forgiveness than permission.
