it's a sign of my obsession ||She sighed as she sat down. After weeks of being out of the apartment as her father’s flagship team worked on her apartment, Jazz was eager to get back to her place. Staying with her aunt and uncle had been great, yet she wanted her own space and to a degree isolated. While she loved her family, they knew how to drive her mad. She would miss her time talking to her aunt after a long day. It wasn’t like she couldn’t drop by every now and then. While she knew they worried about her, it was something she had no control over. Tucking into the chicken she had ordered, Jazz dived in to the food. Even from the smell she was hungry. After being on her feet all day, this was what Jazz was in the mood for. Soon enough the flavors had her melting right in the seat. She was glad that she was off tomorrow as this meal was going to have her sleeping deeply every soon. Hearty meals always did. Another thing she was going miss about her uncle’s place. The food. She pulled out the book she was in the middle of reading most nights and used that for company while she ate. Her circle of friends was still small and mostly back in Rhode Island. She hadn’t gone back in years and mentally toyed with the idea of going over Christmas. Taking a bite again, Jazz open the book and picked the reading from where she last left it. [ codes ] [ ---- ] [ MUSIC ] [ @open ] you're my sweetest sin |

Devon sighed as he walked into the Sweet Maple Cafe and then looked around. Where should he sit? He didn't want to just take someone's seat, but from what he could see, it was one of those places you seated yourself. Okay, pick a spot before someone tells you that you make a better door than window, he thought to himself. Giving himself a mental shake, he walked up to a table and sat down. He then looked around, catching sight of a woman at the next table reading. "What are you reading?" he queried. Hopefully, she didn't mind the intrusion. He was just always on the look out for a new book to read and he hadn't had one in a while. OOC Hope you don't mind me jumping in.

She lifted her head to see who was talking and gave a friendly smile. While she hadn't been expecting company, she didn't mind it when mood struck. And the guy seemed harmless enough. Then again, she had said the same about her ex-husband. "One of Nora Roberts books," she told him. That woman knew her words, "It appears to be one of bridal series." And gave a light shrug. "Seems good so far."
Putting her fork down as well making the page she was on, "I'm Jazz." Small talks, weren't that bad.
((Lame....but it's something))

Devon smiled back at the woman as she answered, saying it was a Nora Roberts book that appeared to be a part of her bridal series and that it seemed good thus far. "Ah, romance," he said. Not really his thing but hey, if it helped her relax, more power to her. "Is that the only genre you like or do you enjoy others?" he wondered. Yes, okay, he was nosy, he could admit it. Hopefully, she didn't mind.
"Jazz? I like it. It's awesome," he stated. "I'm Devon." Not that she cared, but it was polite to introduce yourself when meeting someone. And he was nothing, if not polite. Or...at least...he tried to be.
OOC Nah, not lame. Love it.

it's a sign of my obsession ||Romance wasn’t the only one she enjoyed that was certain. Leaning back, she studied the man, “ Not really,” she admitted, “ I enjoyed her other series she does under the name of J.D Robb. The other is Matthew Reilly, he has written an excellent series starting with Seven Ancient Wonders. This book,” Jazz tapped it, “ belongs to my Aunt. I had been staying with her and my Uncle till my apartment was ready to be returned to.” Picking up her coke she sipped, “ Short for Jasmine,” she clarified and shrugged, “ everyone calls me that. Devon,” she mused, “ that’s an interesting name. Celtic background name. So, who do you defend?” Being a former NCIS had perks. She had looked up many names over years and some just stuck out. Sometimes she did look up history behind the name to see how it could shape a person. Even that was interesting when the dots connected. Devon nodded as Jazz continued, saying that she had liked another series Nora Roberts, which she had written under the name of J.D. Robb as well as someone named Matthew Reilly, adding that the book she currently had belonged to her aunt, with whom she was staying while she waiting for her apartment to be ready. "That makes sense," he commented. "Any good at least?" he queried? Not that he would be reading it anytime soon, but he was curious if she was at least enjoying the book.
He nodded again as she explained that Jazz was short for Jasmine, adding that his name was interesting and that it came from a Celtic background. "Really?" he wondered. Never knew that, he thought to himself. When she asked him who he defended, he shrugged. "Anyone who needs it," he responded. Wonder what that's all about, he mused. Maybe it was what his name meant? He honestly had no clue. But it was interesting to learn.
