STATE OF THE ART Alyssa was just getting off work and she was still in her flight fatigues. She’d managed to get transferred to the Naval training center in Chicago. She still flew for the Air Force but they were borrowing the runway from the Navy. Something crazy like that. She was glad for the change of scenery, and as a result was able to see Steven a lot more. Speaking of that was the whole reason she was here. She was bringing Steven dinner and had just exited the kitchen and was back outside heading back to her car. That is when things started getting a little crazy. “Oh so his new tramp is a flygirl?” The voice did not belong to anyone that Alyssa recognized. Raising a brow Alyssa turned on her heels. “Excuse me?” Alyssa was trying to remain calm, she was in uniform there was professionalism to be had when she was as such. Alyssa pulled open the door of her blue Celica only to have it slammed closed before she got a chance to get in the vehicle. “I don’t know who you are, but I am asking you to leave me alone.” The fiery blonde was trying to keep her temper under check. If it reared it’s ugly head there was going to be a throw down in front of 51.

Steven had been in the chief’s office, it was one of those explain your choice times though he had done and everyone seemed to be appeased for the time being at least. On his way out he saw that his lunch was there as he grinned, Alyssa was around he thought as he checked the most obvious places in the fire house before he headed outside. He wanted to catch her before she went back at least to say thank you. She had transferred to Chicago on the borrowed Navy runway. He never pretended to understand that as a runway was a runway to him but he was simply happy that Alyssa was there as things were going great. That was until he stepped outside and saw ‘that woman’ yes of all people it was ‘that woman’ who was calling his girlfriend a what? Steven had never raised a hand to a woman but she took the biscuit on testing his patience, he wondered what he had ever seen in her and now her craziness was something that gave him a whole new insight into the woman. Steven smiled when he saw that Alyssa was in uniform, hot he thought for a second as he paused before making his way quickly toward the two women as he saw the door slam shut. He had dated a cop for what reason again? A crazy one at that as he took a breath pretty sure that if Alyssa wanted to his ex would be splattered across the front yard for the house. “Why don’t you go crawl back under the rock you came out from.” Steven snapped as he stood by Alyssa smiling at her for a moment apologetically. “We’re finished, what I do now isn’t any business of yours so just leave.” He said not wanting any trouble as he tried to ignore his ex as he turned to face Alyssa. “Sorry about that but thanks for lunch, do you want to stay a while?” He asked her having been sure that morning she was finishing about now but not sure if she was or heading to work or even if she had time to spare at all given he had assumed that she had finished but then he knew how hours could easily change. STATE OF THE ART Alyssa was sneaky or tried to be around the fire house but sometimes Steven just knew when she was around. She saw him go into the firehouse and then come back out. Honestly, she was trying to keep from giggling as he searched around. If she hadn’t been distracted by nut woman than maybe she would have been able to steer him in the proper direction of her
Alyssa didn’t fail to notice that Steven was heading this way. Taking a few breathes she did her best to keep her temper in check. Alyssa also had made note of this woman’s badge. While the woman wasn’t in full uniform, the badge on her belt didn’t lie. Alyssa didn’t like cops in the first place so this woman wasn’t going to gain any favors in that department either.
Reaching a hand out to Steven’s shoulder, Alyssa didn’t want him in trouble. Alyssa was worked up but she was trying her best to hide it. Given that she was in uniform and so was Steven this could turn downhill very quickly for conduct unbecoming. “She’s not worth it babe.” Alyssa took a step in Steven’s direction. Her eyes critical of this so called cop.
“Yeah, I can stay. I just wasn’t sure if you were here so I was going to head home for a bit.” She admitted what she was up to with a small innocent smile. She was about to say something else when she felt a shove on her shoulder. Alyssa turned around and faced the woman who had just shoved her.
“Badge or no badge, shove me again then I will have you arrested for assault.” No one was above the law not even cops. It left a bitter taste in her mouth that some cops got away with things like this. Alyssa took a step backwards, her body pinned against Steven’s. She didn’t want Steven getting involved in things, though she had a feeling it was already too late for that.

Women, it was the one relationship he regretted in his entire life was with a cop. He had never dated one since and this was the exact reason why. He always worried about his sisters getting good guys and then he was the one to date a woman who’s middle name was crazy. Her crazy act might have worked on any other woman he had dated but he hoped it never would with Alyssa. Then with her history with cops he felt guilty that she even had to see this side of an ex of his. Steven felt Alyssa’s hand on his shoulder as he tried to calm down some, calm had never really been a state of mind for him on his best day especially not when he had an ex to deal with. “No you’re right, she’s not.” He stated smiling when he saw her take a step in his direction. He never failed to notice the critical look in her eyes toward the other woman as he just kept his dead gaze glaring at the woman. If there was ever cause for a stalker then this cop had the vibe down entirely. He smiled when Alyssa said she could stay, “Yeah here for a bit longer today. I...” He was about to say something else when he saw the shove on Alyssa’s shoulder. He could feel his hands ball into fists for a moment, he had never hit a woman before and never would but he wanted to yell at his ex for the drama she was causing for no reason. He felt Alyssa pinned against him as he slipped an arm around her for a moment before he stepped out from and glared at his ex. “Enough, what the hell is wrong with you. We’re done, you know that go give your crazy to someone else. I don’t care anymore. Just apologise and leave.” He almost yelled as he took a breath trying not to do anything stupid. “You know what, that’s it... I’m calling your commanding officer and putting in a complaint. After every stunt you’ve pulled this is the lowest. You need help.” He stated as he looked back to Alyssa feeling guilty for what was going on, he had a lot to explain well it was his ex and she was crazy was there anymore to it no. “Let’s go inside and I can get you some lunch too. I’m sorry about this.” He said not sure how anything would happen now. Had he know there was this level of crazy attached he would never have gone anywhere near and now she had shoved Alyssa, no that was far from happening in his world. Not acceptable at all. STATE OF THE ART Alyssa was just trying to get out from under the crazy. If the ex wanted to go crazy, then Alyssa could show her crazy. Soon Alyssa found herself defending herself physically and Steven trying to break up the mess. Alyssa shook her hands free and backed up from the woman. “That is assault.” She hissed before dragging herself into the station. Oh it was going to be a day.
Alyssa watched as the other woman left. Finally. Oh how she hated cops. Sighing she leaned on the wall of the station house. “Don’t apologize for someone else. I’m alright.” She was quite capable of taking on the cop if she so chose to do. There were better life decisions than trying to best Alyssa in a fight. “I need to go change though.” She pointed all over the place having no idea where the locker rooms were. “I thought maybe I would keep you company in the station house for a while?” She wanted to be comfortable, not dressed in her uniform.
“I’m gonna make a few calls. I’m filing charges on her…” Alyssa didn’t take to being shoved around lightly. Oh his ex was a piece of work. Not that she could really say much as hers had murdered her brother. There was no shortage of crazy past between the two apparently. Not that she wanted to dredge all of that up. Alyssa grabbed a bandage for her arm which was lightly bleeding from fingernail marks. Well if that was the worst of the damage then she would live.

Steven wanted to hide at that moment; yes everyone had a history but that ex she just kept popping up places. It was over between them and had been for a long time but a cop had certain powers and he was just the medic, though he nodded when Alyssa hissed and walked back into the station. At least there the ex could do no harm despite the fact he wanted to kill the woman for what she had done. “I’m glad you are but it shouldn’t have happened Alyssa so I’m sorry for that.” He said wanting to explain but then she already had an issue with cops and his nutty ex being one of that particular group did nothing to help there. “Yeah sure, through those doors and to the right is the locker room.” Steven said as he attempted to turn her to the right direction glad she was still there and not running out. “I’d love that... I mean yeah that would be great thanks. Could use some company here.” He said not wanting to over state things too much even if he was ecstatic that she was staying around. “Yes and I’ll make a statement too, she shouldn’t have done that but she’s nuts I just didn’t know until after.” He explained though Steven still felt bad about what had happened. “She really got you good.” Steven said as he saw the fingernail marks on her arm as he shook his head at her. “Okay fly girl, let me take a look at that before you manage to stick the bandage on backwards or something.” He teased grinning as he moved over to pull open the back doors of the ambulance. “Why don’t you step into my office and I can take a look?” He offered with a grin, sure her arm was far from hanging off but then a cut could turn nasty and the last thing he wanted was any more harm to come to her by way of his ex. STATE OF THE ART Alyssa didn’t really need or want Steven worrying about her; she could hold her own self. However, she knew there was little point in trying to tell him off. She hadn’t even managed to get to the locker room before Steven caught her wrapping up her arm. Of course… really she should have known better than to try and sneak it past him.
“It’s just a scratch.” Alyssa protested but she followed him over to the back of the ambulance anyway. When he said she might possibly put the bandage on backwards she gave him a look. The ‘you can’t be serious’ look was clear on her face. Alyssa sat in the seat inside the ambulance. “My sense of direction is better than yours.” She stated as she shoved him with her good arm, making sure to pinch him in the process.
“The urge to argue with you over my arm is strong.” She was only semi serious but she was looking to get a rise out of him. Her tone suggested she wasn’t arguing, but she was pretending to give him a hard time. Though to be honest, it was just a scratch and he was worried over nothing. There were days that she wasn’t sure what to do with men.

Steven was reasonably protective of the people in his life, he might appear like a jerk and the rumours were a little awkward but he cared about Alyssa which meant a family like protectiveness was instantly provided for her in his mind. His job was a paramedic and she was a pilot, he had fixed her up once and she had lived so why not try it again when it was a lot less life and death. After all he should be able to handle a scratch or he would hope he could. “Surprising how many people tell me that when it’s not just a scratch.” Steven replied knowing that all in the fire house might have tried to pull that line though it got old fast so even if it was just a scratch. He was treating it like the biggest wound he had seen in his life. Steven laughed upon seeing the look she gave him, he gave her one back that said he was about as serious as he could be. “Woah, you can’t just do that to the guy who’s trying to help you.” He explained as he squirmed away from her chuckling. “You’re sense of direction, nope maybe flying sure but down here it’s my town. So my sense tells me it might not need stitches.” He offered by way of a joke, not that a scratch would but still you could never be too careful he thought as he nudged her back lightly. “Bring it on fly girl.” He baited smirking at her as he could hear her tone but she was getting a rise out of him. “You want to argue with me over this then go for it because I can bandage your whole arm or just stick a plaster on it? Scratches can become infected and then you might lose an arm for the worst case and also I wouldn’t be doing my job if I let a scratch get infected so go for it. Argue away.” He said as he realised he likely did sound a little out there about it. He was arguing the argument that had yet to be put to him as he glanced at her looking a little guilty. “Sorry, I just... better safe than sorry.” He said as if that dug him out of whatever hole he was digging himself into. “On the plus side though, I did get you to the back of an ambulance when you’re still walking and talking so I get brownie points for that.” Steven added grinning at her as he pulled out the bag with the alcohol wipes and antiseptic cream and plasters in it. And she thought he was joking. Alyssa Zorin,

STATE OF THE ART Alyssa decided to entertain Steven’s overprotectiveness. She just passed off his comments though. It wasn’t deep and it didn’t even need a bandage. When he said she couldn’t give him the look she just shrugged and gave it to him again. “I can and I did.” She snarked sticking her tongue out in reply. Oh yes, he was going to get her attitude. Though it was all in good fun, for the most part.
When he said that down here was his town she just laughed and shoved her head into his side. When he told her to bring it on she pinned her hand to the wall trapping him. “Bring it on?” She questioned before kissing him. “You mean like this?” She replied before pulling away and smirking at him. Oh, it was fun to get under his skin.
When he was going on about being better safe than sorry, she just bit her lip trying not to give him every reason in the book why he was being super overprotective. Though she let him tend to her arm. Alyssa went quiet trying to figure out what she wanted to say without being a brat. Her ex had always told her to watch her attitude and be more amicable to people. Though Alyssa could be a right brat if she wanted to be.
When Steven went back to making cracks about getting her in the back of an ambulance she rolled her eyes. It wasn’t by choice, but fighting with him in the middle of the firehouse? That would hardly look well on him with his co-workers. Alyssa could still hear her ex screaming in her head to be respectful to people. Somethings weren’t worth the battle. Her silence mostly spoke for itself.

Steven laughed when she gave him that look again and stuck her tongue out in reply. He did the exact same back to her. “Cannot and maybe did.” He replied grinning as he started to open a packet of wipes for her arm, a scratch yes but all scratches could be deadly given really bad luck and a lack of care which Steven could hardly change the luck but the care, no he had that part covered easily. He glanced at his hand that had suddenly become pinned as he smirked. Her kiss was amazing as he stood there slightly stunned for a moment before he laughed. “Oh yeah exactly like that or like this.” He replied as he leaned in to kiss her back before he let his fingers trace her side tickling lightly against her. What worked for one he thought as he watched her wondering if she was okay given what had happened. Steven set to cleaning up her arm though there was little to it as he placed the plaster across the scratch just for good measure. He hardly realised the silence as when he was working silence was a good thing at times though usually his silence included screaming from all sides and the occasion abuse hurled at him. The wonders of trying to be the good guy he thought though when he glanced at her and saw her roll her eyes he chuckled. “Is everything okay Alyssa?” He asked her concerned about the silence from her, yes he was making jokes about things but it was what he did. Joke and laugh and try to make light of every tense situation that happened. “If you wanted to see the ambulance all you had to do was ask you know, might even switch on the lights and sirens for you if you wanted?” He said grinning as he leaned up the packets he had used and put away the bag with the kit in it. Steven leaned down and kissed over the plaster for a moment. “See all better now, you’ll need at least a week off work but should be good to be back to work after that.” He explained as he stuck his tongue out at her for a moment. STATE OF THE ART Alyssa chuckled with Steven. “I don’t see anyone here to arrest me for doing so, therefore I can.” She smirked. Before she realized what was going on he was kissing her back after she had pinned him to the side of the truck. His hands on he wasn’t playing nice now. She wiggled and squished up her face at the tickling. “Not playing fair.” She demanded with her good hand on her hip as she tried to squirm away.
Cue asking her if everything was okay. It prompted a smile from her. “Yeah, just thinking.” She reached for his hand. “About how lucky I am to have you now.” It was stretching the truth but compared to the real winners her family and ex boyfriends had been, she considered herself lucky on that front. “Things work out for reasons.” She replied before poking him lightly in the nose.
When he mentioned a week off of work she just laughed. She pulled her hand back and pulled him towards her. “Hmm, and what about wrestling with my boyfriend for being a smart ass?” She retorted. “That’s work too.” She was of course teasing. When he stuck his tongue out she licked it. “Put that back in your mouth.” She instructed though she was clearly just trying to be fun by being difficult.
Steven was so easy to get wound up. She jumped backwards out of the ambulance and then leaned on the side of the fire truck. If one of the firefighters saw her leaning on the truck she had no idea what they might say. She also had something to say to Steven before he got all up in arms about her crazy schedule.
“I didn’t resign my military contract.” She stated looking towards him. “No more deployments.” There was a smile on her face. Then she got serious again. “I took a job offer with one of the airlines. My schedule is going to get kind of crazy. I’ll be home a lot though since the company has a hub here.” She pulled him close to her. She wasn’t sure how he was going to take her being in the air a ton. Though she smiled towards him and kissed his lips softly. Okay so kissing him was an addiction.

Steven laughed and nodded, “I’m sure I could arrest you for something.” He joked though honestly he was trying to prevent being too heavily involved with the police. Hardly his favourite people in the world, a night in lock up changes his opinion on the boys in blue vastly when his pleas of innocence or rather I did it but the guy deserved it fell onto deaf ears. Steven grinned watching her face, “So cute when I don’t play fair.” He teased chuckling as she tried to squirm away though he was happy enough to let her do so. Thinking, it was that word that had him formulating a whole other conversation in his head. If she was thinking then to him it was, how to get away from him or how to break things off. Thinking, it was what happened after that word was spoken which caused him to have a look of surprise when she said she was lucky. “I’m the one who’s lucky to have you, amazing still you fell out of the sky to meet me. I know I’m attractive but it was a little dangerous to do that but I’m impressed by it.” He stated chuckling, so he did actually know she could have crashed at any point and he might not have been able to answer that call but it all worked out. Steven squashed up his own face when Alyssa poked him in the nose and pulled him towards her. “I think your boyfriend could appreciate a little wresting because he is smart.” Steven said laughing as he nodded to her chuckling when she licked his tongue. “Oh gladly I will.” He added knowing she was trying to be fun by being difficult though he knew he was far too easy to wind up over the slightest little thing imaginable. “I would move over to this side of the house in case anyone sees you... smoke eaters are very touchy about their equipment.” Steven explaining, if you messed with the slightest little thing it would be all axes and halligan bars then the usual square off between who did it better. Steven was about to say something along the lines of how touchy fire-fighters were when he heard that she had no more deployments. “You mean you’re not military anymore? That you’re here full time?” He questioned just to make sure he was on the right lines before he said anything. “So you’re an airline pilot now. That is great, congratulations.” Steven said smiling as she pulled him closer to her. Her being home more was great for him but her flying more, he knew she enjoyed it so what could he really say. It would be like her asking him to give up his job and really unless a very drastic event happened which would have to be major he was unlikely to do so. Kissing her was amazing; the kind of amazing that had him forgetting where they were entirely as he wrapped his arms around her. Steven only pulled away for a moment as he gazed at her, smirking lightly. “Please tell me you kept the military uniform though?” He questioned before he went back to kissing her lips again. He only asked because she looked well sexy as hell in it but then if she had left it he was sure he could pick it back up for her as he pulled away a second time, “Or do you get a better uniform for commercial flights?” He asked grinning glad that she was going to be back more often and he would be free of deployment worry and the unknown that went with it. STATE OF THE ART Hearing him laugh and play, it was the best thing in the world. She wanted him happy and to her his laugh and smile said everything was alright. She could tell she was feeding his ego the moment he said he was attractive. “I didn’t fall out of the sky. I actually tried landing. There’s a difference.” She pointed out as she locked lips with him. Alyssa was glad though that she had him in her life now. After her last failed relationship, it was nice to have someone who understood her in more ways than one.
“Oh is that so? You really think you could take me on?” Alyssa smirked as she pushed him up against the side of the ambulance. If she couldn’t be sitting on the firetruck, then may as well wrestle with him in the middle of the bay. Though if anyone came out and saw the wrestling match, she could only think of what they may or may not say. Though the conversation turned to her military career before the wrestling could even start.
“Reserves. I could still be called up, but it’s unlikely.” Alyssa nodded. “But yes, I’m here in Chicago. To stay.” She still had to do some more apartment hunting but she was almost ready for a permanent move from her Springfield home. Hotels were getting to be a pain in the behind. She took a few steps towards him when he pulled her even closer. She could get used to more of this. There was a soft smile.
Somewhere between enjoying the moment he mentioned her uniform. “I have both, but yes I will still have a uniform.” She replied chuckling as she played with the edge of his polo shirt straightening the collar before she went back to kissing him. “It will be nice to hear your voice when I am out of town instead of spending months on radio silence.” She admitted. Being a phone call away had to give both of them a piece of mind.

Kissing her Steven could never have been happier as he grinned. He was lucky to have her around and the fact that she had stayed and helped him so much after he had managed to break his leg. That meant a lot to him, as well as solving the here are my sisters and mother meeting that could never have happened at a worse time. It however had all worked out because she was still there right then telling him how she had tried to land. “That was ‘tried landing’ huh.” He said grinning, “I guess a beach is a good place as any, sort of soft landing on sand. Though you know there are runways for that kind of thing?” He teased her. He never doubted her flying skills and planes were not much of an issue for him unless they crashed and then, yes he had an issue with it. Steven hardly cared if anyone did see them, there were much more well X-rated things that went on in that house than wrestling in public. He would never name the names but mostly it was fire-fighters that did all the behind closed doors stuff. Paramedics were far more respectable, mostly. Steven smirked back at her when she pushed him up against the side of the ambulance. “Oh it is so.” He said confidently, “I’m sure I could but only if you think you could handle that?” He added as he leaned in to kiss her lips again. Nothing like a good challenge he thought as she spoke about the reserves. Steven would take the possibility she could be called up over the definite of that. “Chicago is pleased to have you here then.” He said seeing her soft smile, “How is the hunt for a place going?” He asked her not entirely sure if she had found one yet or not though her hotel stays. Steven had no idea how she managed to do that, he knew it would drive him insane pretty quickly though he knew Alyssa was a lot better at handling things like that than he was. Caught up in the news that she was back in the states full time Steven grinned at her when she spoke about her uniform. “Well that is good.” He said chuckling as she went back to kissing him. Honestly there was nothing better than kissing her. With his arms wrapped around her and the thought of getting to hear her voice when she was out of town it was like his day was just getting better and better by the minute. At least that way he would know if she was safe, radio silence for months and waiting for a phone call from her was torture at times. It made for a fantastic phone call when he knew she was alright but after that it went straight back to the unknown worry. “Hearing your voice will be fantastic because not hearing it for months is no fun.” Steven said with a grin, “This is like Christmas come early. You’re here full time, uniform, phone calls... anything else you’ve got to surprise me with?” He asked as he placed a hand behind her head carefully. Just in case he managed to bump it against the side of the ambulance as he flipped them so her back was against the ambulance side. Alyssa Zorin,

STATE OF THE ART
Alyssa shook her head. “Actually the beach was a better alternative, given that my landing gear got stuck.” She tugged him by his hand close to her. Her tone got serious as he mentioned the runway. Even if he was joking he needed to know that it was the difference between life or death. “The friction caused by the runway could have ignited my fuel. I wouldn’t be here.” There was a pause. “But I had that beach, and I had you there. And to have you here now? I wouldn’t trade it.” She admitted.
Alyssa smirked kissing him when he asked if he could handle their wrestling matches. “If you think that I can’t you have a lot to learn about me.” She replied before tickling him. It probably wasn’t really fair play but given that no one had set forth their rules of engagement, she was certain that it couldn’t really be considered cheating. This was only because there were no legal rules to break. She could only smirk before being lost in his kiss again. Oh, she could get lost in that all day.
Alyssa could only laugh and shake her head. “It’s… complicated.” Alyssa wasn’t picking on a place but size vs. location it could get pretty tricky. “I’ve looked at a few places and loved them until I’ve seen the price tag, or just out right felt like a square peg in a round hole.” Alyssa was military she was made to adapt. That’s how it worked.
She found herself being flipped against the side of his ambulance and she could only smirk. “You’ll hear from me more than you think.” Alyssa informed him. Something she was glad about. Being with him was one thing but not able to hear his voice when she was away was the total opposite. She smiled at him running her hand down his arm.
