Gibbs was seated on a stool at the bar nursing his glass of bourbon waiting on Jess. They were meeting here to celebrate her twenty first birthday, by following a Gibbs family tradition. Like his father had done for him, and his fathers father before him, he was here to buy Jess her first legal alcoholic drink. He'd like to think it was her first alcoholic drink, but with things the way they were these days he knew the likelihood of that was rather low. He'd been coming to Molly's since the bar opened, when he walked up to the bar they usually already had his drink poured for him. Not that he drank to excess, but an occasional glass of bourbon shared with friends and colleagues at the locally owned bar never hurt anyone. He nodded in the direction of some former colleagues taking a sip of his drink before turning to look at the door. (OOC Sorry at this point that's all I've got) Jessica "Jess" Ranen

don't apologize
Jess' role in life had been a strange one over the years. She'd taken on the role of caretaker for his dad over the years. The one who kept everything in order and did all the cooking for the house, that sort of thing. So her role as a daughter was awkward. Though over the last few years she'd let Shannon take over the role and it was awkward. Jess was on her own, well mostly on her own. That wasn't to say she wasn't finding every excuse to see her dad, she could find.
Jess was sneaky like her dad she saw her dad watching the door. Hrm... There was no way she was going to sneak up on him. Normally, she would find a way to sneak in but she didn't want to have to be out in the Chicago rain any longer than normal. Wandering in she still walked behind her dad whether he saw her or not and she wrapped her arms around his neck from behind. Bourbon and sawdust had become comfort scents for her over the years. "I got caught in traffic." She admitted. Well she might explain herself, but Jess never apologized to her dad. Nope she wasn't about go breaking the rules with the 'sorry I'm late' line.

Gibbs had seen Jess enter the bar before he turned around to face the bar again, he felt her wrap her arms around him from behind and just smiled. He loved his daughter more than he had ever thought possible, and the fact that she still wanted to spend time with him... well it pleased him greatly to say the least. She was at that age where most girls would rather be out with friends than spending the night with Daddy. When she had so readily agreed to join him it had made his week. He nodded when she mentioned that she had run into traffic, "Traffic was unusually bad tonight, and with the rain... I'm glad you took your time." Motioning to the stool next to him he smiled, "Have a seat birthday girl. What are you drinking tonight?" He asked as he motioned for the bartender. "A drink for the lady please." He sipped his bourbon as he waited for Jess to place her order. Once her order had been placed, he turned towards her "Did I ever tell you the story about when your Grandpa took me out for my birthday drink? He wasn't smart enough to cut me off at one, and ended up almost having to carry me home. He was less than impressed and made me pay for it the next day. Speaking of which..." He held his hand out palm up wiggling his fingers, "Keys." Jessica "Jess" Ranen

Jess always had been and always would be a daddy’s girl through and through. Anyone who couldn’t handle that… well they would have to handle it or she could show them the door. Jess was as protective of her dad as he was of her, and she dared anyone to challenge her on it.
“Of course.” She replied to the traffic hopping up on the bar stool. Jess shook her head and then made a face. “Not whatever that is… because it looks like maple syrup.” In her experience anything that looked like maple syrup didn’t taste too good, including maple syrup.
She settled on a strawberry banana liquor. When her dad started talking about her grandfather she shook her head. “You got that drunk?” Granted she figured it was a long time ago and he probably didn’t have the same alcohol tolerance as he did now.
Jess should have known that her dad was going to take her keys. Sometimes she wondered just how much he trusted her when he did things like this. Though Jess knew better than to argue with her dad over something like this. When Gibbs said to do something it was done. There was no if ands or butts. She had learned a good portion of that through her teenage years. Jess had been a respectful child but like all teens she would try and push the envelope to let their parents let them grow up.She dropped her keys on the bar counter in front of him.
