OC Note: I suck at making titles. xD
Checking her outfit in the mirror, Casey tilted her head to the side, as if seeing herself for the first time. Normally, the young redhead wasn't one to dress up to impress people. She would rather dress comfortably than put on makeup and wear bras and tights. However, there are certain circumstances where one needs to dress up; and apparently going to the bar was one of them. While she wasn't much for appearances; Casey had to admit that she did look good.
The young redhead's hair, which was usually all over the place, was straightened out somewhat with curls at the end, and parts of her hair pulled back, showing her chocolate brown eyes, which had a little of blue eye shadow on them. Her lips were purplish pink, and she wore a long v-neck blue dress along with black pumps with gold beads along them. Casey smirked at herself a little; glad that she had a sense of style; even if she didn't show it often. Satisfied with how she looked, Casey grabbed her purse and headed out the door.
As she entered Molly's, Casey was glad that she didn't live far from the old bar. It saved her the hassle of having to tag down a taxi and Casey didn't care much for driving herself. Casey looked around for a seat; and found an empty one next to what could be a handsome man; if Casey was looking that is. Walking over to him; she took a seat and placed her purse between her knees; so no one couldn't have easy access to it. “Mind if I sit here?” she asked just for formalities. She was already sitting after all.

It had been a long day for Kyle. But then again, every day for him was a long one. If he tried, he supposed he could remember his last day off, but it would be a stretch. Still, it was the nature of the job and he knew what he was getting into when he decided to get into social work, but that did not make it any easier. Currently, he was indulging in one of his favorite forms of self-care...namely having a drink or a dozen at the local bar. Kyle did not consider himself an alcoholic in the least, but there were some days where he needed something to numb the horror he had partaken in, and this was one of those days.
He said alone at the bar, the collar on his blue button down shirt loosened and his black tie pulled down. He was nursing a straight whisky. Normally, he was a beer guy, but sometimes he went for the harder stuff, and deep down he knew that he was doing that more and more recently. He tried to deny it, making up excuses as he went, but that was a problem for another day. He he just finished up his recent child abuse case, and right now....right now he needed to feel no pain. The world was messed up and Kyle was just expected to to sit there and make it all magically right. Screw that, he thought as he pounded down his drink and signaled for another. Tonight is just about me.
He had just finished that thought when he sensed someone come up beside him. Without looking, he could tell it was a woman, the smell of an unidentifiable but VERY pleasant perfume or body lotion was strong, and she automatically had his attention. Risking a look, he turned his head and saw what could only be described as a VERY attractive redhead standing next to him and asking if she could have the seat next to him. Well, he DiD want to be alone, but exceptions could be made he supposed. Dressed very, VERY sexy. Ever the gentleman, Kyle waved his hand to the empty seat with what he hoped was a non threatening smile. "Be my guest".
This night may be interesting after all.

Casey did her best to not stare at the man other than to nod her head in thanks when he politely told her she could join him. While she was grateful that he wasn't like most guys; she could tell that he was trying not to stare at her for more than a couple of seconds at a time. Casey knew she was a very pretty woman. Who wouldn't after being told constantly by both her mother and best friend; but still, it was nice to know that other people thought so outside of her little circle. Then again, this man could be staring for an entirely different reason and that made the young redhead look at her reflection in the glass behind the bar to make sure that nothing was off.
Satisfied with the way she looked, Casey glanced around the bar as she waited for the barman to to attend to her. It was small but cozy. Almost like home; but with extra people lingering around. The booths at the bar were crowded with both familiar and unfamiliar faces that helped protect the city of Chicago. Making sure that her smirk wasn't too noticeable; she nodded at the man's drink in his hand; before glancing at the woman in front of her.
“I'll take what he has” Casey jerked her head in the man's direction; taking the time to really look him up and down. He was dressed in a blue button down shirt which had a few buttons unbuttoned and his tie was hung loosely. It reminded Casey of a couple of movies where the protagonists always tried to be cool. She nodded her thanks at the woman who handed her the drink before smiling mischievously at the man before her.
“Bottoms up!” she made a face as the alcohol scorched her throat. “Man. How do you guys drink this stuff” she asked, not really speaking to anyone in particular but chanced another look at the man before looking away; not wanting to make the man uncomfortable.

Kyle considered himself a very observant person, it was a trait that was essential in his line of work, and over the years, he had perfected it. That being said, it was not hard for him to tell that he had been caught looking at her perhaps a bit too long or too much. Either way, it was not intentional, and he mentally kicked himself for it. He normally had more control than that. Plus, he did not consider himself as a "typical" guy, he had more respect for himself and women than that. But still, he WAS still a guy and she was a very beautiful woman. Sometimes it just could not be helped.
So it was to his surprise and not a little relief when she decided to take the seat he had offered instead of taking off running. He had probably not done anything too bad, but he was often his own worse critic and times like this reinforced that notion. He allowed himself a small smile as she ordered the same drink as him. He had to admire someone who could drink the hard stuff with little to no hesitation. That smile widened when she expressed her distaste for the beverage. He could not put his finger on it exactly, but there was something...fun about this woman, and all of sudden, he wanted to find out what that was exactly.
Deciding there would be worse things than meeting someone new, Kyle decided to take a chance and speak to her. "Can I get you another or would you prefer something that tastes a little less like kerosene", he asked, Inclining his nearly empty glass towards her. It wasn't the wittiest of remarks, but he thought it was pretty good. "My name is Kyle by the way". Now, all he could do was hope she didn't throw what was left of her drink in his face and run away.

Tag: @kyle Word Cout: 283 OC Note: Sorry it's late. Take your time on the reply though as I'll be out of town until Monday anyways. I don't want to keep you waiting too long
Casey smirked as the man seemed to become aware that he was staring. She had to give him credit though because he still kept his eyes on her; causing the young red head to blush slightly. In all her twenty-eight years of being on Earth; Casey never thought she'd be one of those girls to get embarrassed easily. After all, she's been through many embarrassing moments, however this man made it easy for her to forget that she wasn't like most girls.
Trying to brush off the moment; Casey arched an eyebrow as the man smiled at her; as if he knew what her reaction to the drink would be. Either that or maybe he was impressed that she'd order something that most women wouldn't. She didn't care either way. She locked eyes with the man as he offered to buy her another shot or something a bit more girly; and Casey stared at him for a moment; as if studying what he was saying. She wasn't sure if he was making fun of her or not; but she couldn't really find it in herself to be upset. She loved a challenge and the stuff wasn't that bad after all. “What type of woman would I be if I turned down a free drink. Hit me.” Casey said; shoving her glass back towards the person serving them; her eyes never leaving the man as she smiled a bit nervously. There was something about him that she couldn't shake. Whether it was a good thing or not was yet to be determined but for now, she would enjoy herself. Casey held out her hand for the man to shake.
“The names James. Casey James.”

Kyle could not hold back another smile as this woman took his challenge and ordered another whiskey. Yes, she was either someone who did not back down from a challenge or someone who was really stubborn. He was willing to bet that it was a little of both. He risked another long look at her while her drink was refilled and liked what he saw. Kyle took pride in the fact that he was a good judge of character and he took advantage of that skill now. She was beautiful of course, but Kyle got the impression that she was not the kind of woman that got dressed up every night, and that made him appreciate her even more, as he was the same....kind of down to earth. Yes, he liked what he saw, very much.
She extended her hand and introduced herself after he had done the same. Finally, he had a name to go with the (beautiful) face. Casey James. He took her hand, and a small thrill ran though his body. He had always seen the same kind of things in movies, but thought it was a Hollywood myth. Hell, love at first sight was a myth as far as he was concerned, but this...if this wasn't it, it was damn close. He did NOT want to let go of her hand, but he did so reluctantly. "It's nice to meet you Casey". That was it, he had no idea where to go from here. Feeling like the most awkward person on the planet, he took a stab at it. "So, um, do you come here often"? He felt like slapping his forehead and kicking his own ass. THAT was the best he could come up with? He would not be the least bit shocked if she ran out of the bar screaming.

Casey smiled back at Kyle as she awaited her order; feeling at ease with her surroundings. Usually; when Casey attended bars (and her friends had to drag her there); they were loud, boisterous and full of sweaty men that only wanted one thing. Sure, Kyle was a man and one who seemed to have had a few drinks already; but he seemed different. He wasn't all over her for one thing; at least not that Casey noticed. He was nice about it and stayed in his place. He was casual about how he went about introducing himself to women. As of this moment, Casey didn't care if she was the first woman or the hundredth woman that this man had hit on. At least, Casey thought she was being hit on. She wasn't entirely sure on that anyway.
Casey felt a shiver run down her spine as she shook the man's hand. Sure, she might be a bit tipsy; but nowhere near where she thought electricity could be running through her body. This had to do with being in contact with Kyle. Whether or not she liked this feeling; she wasn't sure but, Casey knew that she didn't want this night to end yet. She let go of his hand reluctantly as their order came in and she grabbed her shot glass. Looking into the amber liquid, she tried to keep her thoughts going in one direction and not all over the place. She looked up as Kyle asked her a question. He seemed truly terrified of having asked that question; but Casey smiled politely anyway. It was normal to want to learn about the person you were chatting up. It was refreshing from having to straight out make out with the total stranger. Then again, she wouldn't be opposed to that either. Kyle was a handsome man after all. Casey shook her head.
“Not really. I just moved here not to long ago; so haven't really had the time to explore much of the city. I heard Molly's was a great place though. Not like most bars anyway” Casey shrugged and smiled, hoping he wouldn't feel awkward with the amount of talking she did. She decided to change tactics. “How about you? Been here often?”
