“Exactly but thank you for the tickets anyway and better yet the more time i get to spend with you the better so they are perfect thank you.” He said grinning as he heard her scoff about being called amazing. To him she was amazing the sort of person that he had no idea existed until that night at the bar and then it was just perfect. “You’ll do fine at the finals, you know everything just trust you do I mean i’d let you save my life any time.” He added grinned at her, there was no doubt in his head that she would be great.

Jackson laughed as he put on his best scared face, “Yes Ma’am no hiding in your closet at all.” He stated as he chuckled, given the pose he figured she could make it realistic but he wasnt too keen to test out the theory so no hiding. Jackson raised his brow at her when she spoke about the hatchet and possible axe, maybe safer not to get her either he thought for a moment. “You have a 9mm?” He asked her though he wasnt sure why he was surprised at that but she had a point, a gun would stop people far faster than an axe.

“I hope they don’t stick you on night shift either or I might not be able to see you as much. Then again if you cant sleep during the day it works out for me right?” He said grinning though he hoped she was happy no matter what she was going to be doing. Hospital or part time at the fire house. He was proud of her either way for what she was doing. He was glad when she said look at the time too, at least he had covered that one well enough he felt or at least the best he knew how. Kissing her again he smiled as she pulled back to look at him.

Jackson just stood there stunned for a moment as he heard her say those three words to him. He couldnt stop the smile on his face as he nodded to her though when she started to back track on it he shook his head. He would have said something but her rambling and then her kiss he wasnt for stopping that at all. He pulled back for a moment grinning at her, “I love you too Chloe.” He said liking the way that sounded. “And I’m not forgetting it ever, I just didnt want you to freak out or think I was pushing it or well you know but I do and this is the best day ever.” He said as he hugged her tightly for a moment.

She laughed when Jackson said that he’d let her save his life anytime, she leaned into him smiling “Thank you… but you kind of have to say that. Though I do appreciate the vote of confidence. I’m just hoping I remember everything when it comes time to take the test.”

Chloe giggled at his scared face and said that he wouldn’t hide in her closet, “You hiding in my closet wouldn’t be so bad… just have to make sure to identify yourself before I go all Kung Fu Panda on you.” She kissed him softly. Watching his face when she was talking about the axe and the hatchet was quite entertaining but when she mentioned that she had a gun he looked like he wanted to fall over. “Yes… I have a gun, I got it and took some self-defense classes before I moved to the big city of Chicago. Being a small town girl I figured it wouldn’t hurt to know how to protect myself. Don’t know why I bothered though… apparently I didn’t learn much.”

She poked him in the chest, “Yeah not sleeping during the day might work out for you, but if I don’t sleep I’m no good to anyone. I put in for day shift though, and they say that if my scores are high enough I should get it. Just kind of worried about which doctor I’m going to be assigned to, there are some new doctors that seem kind of intimidating… but until I pass, I’m not going to worry about that. Don’t want to get ahead of myself.”

The look on Jackson’s face when she told him she loved him was enough to scare her at first, she could tell he was shocked… but what she couldn’t tell was how he felt about it. So when she started trying to talk her way out of what she’d just said and she kissed him, when he pulled away smiling and told her that he loved her too she smiled and held him close as he hugged her. “Best. Day. Ever, and it’s not even over yet.”

Chloe pulled away reluctantly so that she could grab a jacket just in case she needed it later. Returning to the kitchen she wrapped her arms around Jackson again and sighed contentedly before kissing him briefly, “I’m ready whenever you are. I can’t wait to see the animals and spend the day with you.”

Jackson chuckled when she spoke as he shook his head. “I don’t have to say it, I could always ask for someone else but I trust you to do that. You did save my hand the night we met so as a test run that was pretty great.” He said as he glanced at his hand for a moment as if checking it was still attached. “You’ll remember it, I’ve faith in that besides you were pretty awesome on the practice run of burn hands so test paper you’ll ace it I’m sure.” He didnt want to add any pressure to her but he figured she knew her stuff from the amount of study she had done for it.

After she kissed him he grinned, “You know Kung Fu Panda? Wow well I’d identify myself for sure, I’d leave a note on the fridge saying ‘Jackson hiding in closet, please don’t harm’.” He stated grinning at her though there was a chance she might not see the note so maybe just stick it to her front door but then was that weird or not? He wasnt entirely sure about that one. “Great planning in that and self defence is always worth knowing. At least now I know you’re well armed so if the Kung Fu Panda fails I could get shot I guess.” He said not sure he wanted to take that risk though he had his service gun and knew how to use one but his was hidden and locked away and hadn’t seen daylight since he left the military.

“Oww.” He said when she poked him in the chest, “Day shift works for me too, at least I get to see you at night too so I’m good with either option though you need sleep so I vote dayshift more.” He said as he listened to her talk about the doctor assignments. “Well if you get one who’s intimidating then I’ll go visit them and set them straight so don’t you worry about it. Besides you’ll pass, I believe it and so should you.” Jackson knew that all out war with her work wasnt going to be a great idea but then telling someone not to intimidate her well that was well within what he could do.

Jackson wasnt used to hearing those words or rather he hadn’t for a long time least of all from someone he loved too. Sure family said it but this was entirely different as he saw her smiling and she held him close. “You’re so right, best day ever. Nope it’s not over yet and today you get to be spoiled like a princess.” He said grinning knowing that he would do that for her any day but today was even more special now to him as he couldnt stop smiling at all.

When she pulled away to get her jacket, Jackson felt like skipping around the room as he did his best not to until she came back and wrapped her arms around him. He did the same to her holding her close as he kissed her back. “I can’t wait either, so shall we make a move?” He asked her as he moved to the door trying not to yell that his girlfriend just told him she loved him. Honestly it was the best day ever.

Chloe giggled, “Yeah the Panda and I are on a first name basis… I keep him hidden in the other closet. I’ll definitely check the fridge daily then for notes just in case you decide to hide in there, although I’d rather you be out here with me.” She laughed again when he stated that he knew she was well armed and he could end up getting shot. “You’d only get shot if I had time to run to my bedroom closet… open the lock box… get the gun out… and load it. I think it was more to make my daddy feel better than for any practical purposes. It’s pretty though, it’s purple… so I hope anyone that breaks in doesn’t mind getting shot ten minutes later with a purple gun.”

She kissed his chest when he said ow, and smiled when he backtracked saying that dayshift worked for him too and that he would vote for that because she needed to sleep. She smiled when Jackson said he’d go visit an intimidating doctor, “Well thank you, I appreciate that greatly but that’s one of those things I think I would probably just have to put up with. Besides I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll get assigned to someone who’s easy to work with… but should the need arise I might take you up on that.”

Chloe couldn’t seem to wipe the smile from her face, he had just told her that he loved her. She hadn’t been sure that she’d ever want to hear or say those words again after the ordeal with Brian but somehow with Jackson it couldn’t have felt better or more right. She smiled even bigger when he agreed that it was in fact the best day ever, “No need to spoil me any more than you already have… you telling me you loved me and being here with me is more than I could ever ask for. I already feel like a princess. Seeing him smile made her happier than she could have ever imagined.

When Jackson asked if they should make a move she nodded happily and followed him to the door. Locking the door behind them she walked into the hall with him she grabbed his hand. Yeah, the chances that he was getting his hand back at any point today were slim to none as she felt the need to touch him and remind herself that she wasn’t in fact dreaming and today was really happening.

Jackson raised his brow as he grinned at her. “This Panda is sounding scary, glad he’s in the other closet though. Well I love a challenge but hiding in the fridge, I might have to attempt it but yes I’d rather be out here with you.” It was the only place to be he thought smiling, she was great and the kind of person who he felt lucky to be stood in a room with let along call her his girlfriend. “Shot with a purple gun? Yeah I think I’d be that lucky, then again if it takes ten minutes at least I would have time to explain it was me and reason I was hiding... Could always swear the Panda did it.”

With that he chuckled as he felt her kiss his chest. Any time that meant he could spend it with her worked out for him and going to intimidate a doctor was just something he would do for her. “I’ve no problem in setting people straight for you Chloe so if you want me to just ask and no one should have to put up with that at all. Besides you’re fantastic and I will tell them that.” He said knowing he would shout it from the roof tops if he could do. She was the best person and if the hospital and doctors didnt see that then it was their issue.

Chloe made everything better, to say I love you to someone and mean it as much as he did the feeling was amazing and scary. After Ashyln he never thought he would find anyone else, at least trust anyone else. Sure he had been away and it was tough to expect someone to go on with their life and just stay stuck with a guy who wasnt around a lot of the time but Chloe, she made him feel like he was walking on air with a simple look or kiss. “Well princess you deserve a lot more and I’ll keep spoiling you no matter what. You said you loved me and that is the greatest thing so thank you.” He said meaning it, she had absolutely made his day.

Jackson walked into the hall as he grinned, he wanted to tell the first person he saw that his girlfriend loved him but he kept himself quiet as he beamed when she grabbed his hand. He squeezed her hand lightly as he walked with her glad that she was there. “Chloe.” He said as he gazed at her for a moment, “I do love you.” He said liking how it sounded as he was sure he would tell her that all day and not get tired of it. Though he wasnt sure if she would get annoyed with it but still it felt good to say.

She felt the rumble in his chest when he chuckled and smiled into his chest. “I’ll keep that in mind and I appreciate it.” Chloe had never really had anyone who was willing to stand up for her and while she highly doubted it would come to that it felt nice to know that Jackson was there to back her up if needed. She just took a moment to enjoy being close to him. “I think you’re a little biased but if you say I’m fantastic it absolutely must be true.”

Telling Jackson she loved him had to be one of the single most scary things she’d ever done, her past experiences with people who said they loved her hadn’t been the greatest and though she knew without a doubt that Jackson would never be like that… the word still scared her a bit. She was hoping that she hadn’t scared him too badly, knowing that his ex had done a number on him as well. She took it as a good sign that he hadn’t taken off running out the door.

Chloe about melted when he called her princess, she’d never been called princess by anyone before but it felt nice and she figured she could get used to it. “I meant what I said… and I think that the greatest thing is that you love me back. Thank you for loving me the way I am and not trying to change me, it means more than you’ll ever know.” She wrapped her arms around him and kissed him before he had even had a chance to reply.

Chloe couldn’t seem to keep the smile off her face as they walked hand in hand, feeling him squeeze her hand she smiled even bigger and leaned into him. Looking up at him when he said her name she said “hmmmm?” When he went on to say that he did love her she blushed a bit, “I’m glad… because I do love you too.”

When they reached Jackson’s vehicle she stopped and turned towards him leaning back against the vehicle. “You know… I’m pretty sure I could get used to all of this… the being called fantastic, hearing that you love me, getting called princess, the kisses… and now going to the zoo, spending the day with you. We need to do this more often.”

“The offers there if you want it.” He said knowing that he would stand up for her no matter what. She had been taken advantage of by Brian and Jackson wasnt about to let that happen with anyone else. He hoped he wouldnt have to out right knock out a doctor or her boss but then if they caused her a problem then he was more than happy to do so. “I don’t think I am, you’re amazing, fantastic, funny, beautiful... lots lots and lots more but then I’m not biased at all.” He stated grinning.

He’d never have thought that three words would have carried such weight with them, those three words he didnt even think he would be able to say to anyone else and yet there was Chloe. He had said those three words and meant them, it was scary to think about how much he meant them but to hear them back felt fantastic. When his ex had said them it didnt feel like he did in that moment, there was a smile but not a great one and most of the time it was on a letter or an email so there was no context to it. He couldnt tell if it was meant or not unlike now when he knew it was.

Jackson shook his head as he smiled at her as he felt her around around him and her kiss before he could even reply. “You are you and that’s perfect to me so why change perfection? I’d love you no matter what Chloe.” He said as he couldnt help but smile at her, honestly it felt fantastic to be there with her. To even be going on a date with her was amazing in his book. It felt like he was walking on cloud nine and still hadn’t come down since that evening he had met her sure it hadn’t all been smooth sailing but then where was the fun in smooth sailing.

Jackson grinned when she said that she loved him too, honestly there couldnt have been anything better to hear from her in that moment and he knew he wouldnt ever get tired of hearing it. Once they got to the car Jackson watched as Chloe turned toward him leaning back against the vehicle. “We should do this more often you’re right.” He said smiling as he leaned in to kiss her for a moment. “And you had better get used to it because it’s all true, Chloe the fantastic princess.” He said as he pulled away a little as he went to open the car door for her.
