Chloe yawned and stretched as she woke up rolled over and looked out her bedroom window. It looked to be a beautiful day outside, and it was her day off she was going to enjoy it. Sure she had several things that she could have done around the apartment, including studying, but it was the first really nice spring day that they’d had and it was going to be much too nice to spend the day cooped up in her apartment. She reached over to her night stand and picked up her phone scrolling through her messages from the night before and smiled as she thought about Jackson. They’d had their fair share of drama and issues to deal with lately, and Chloe decided that she wanted to spend her day with him having fun and forgetting about everything else. As she stretched again and got out of bed to shower she tried to decide what she wanted to do with their day, that was assuming that she could convince Jackson to spend the day with her. She started thinking of everything they could do, and really in Chicago their options were unlimited. As she showered she considered several options and realized that she really didn’t care what they did as long as they were together and having fun enjoying the day. Sitting on the edge of her bed towel drying her hair she picked up her phone and called him. “Hey you. I didn’t wake you did I? So, if you don’t have any other plans… I was thinking… It’s an absolutely beautiful day outside and rather than spend it cooped up inside my apartment studying stuff that I already know, I’d much rather spend the day with my amazing boyfriend doing something outdoors. So, what do you say? Feel like saving me from these medical books for the day?”

Jackson was awake early as usual, something about the early hours wake up calls in the military that still hadn’t worn off much. He had shuffled around his place, jumping in the shower before he made some toast and sat at the dining table. He looked out at the day not sure what he was doing as he hadn’t got anything much planned as he kept his phone with him not sure what Chloe was doing that day either. Messaging her the night before was fun and with her he always had fun no matter what was going on.
He still sat there reading the morning paper, yes he was the sort that still did that rare thing starting with the sports section first. He groaned seeing at his favourite basket ball team had now lost their fifth game in a row, definitely not their season he thought as he looked at his phone the minute it started ringing. He grinned seeing the name that flashed up on it as he answered, “Hey.” He said as he listened to her and laughed. “No you didnt wake me at all, just reading a paper.” He explained as he thought about his day.
There were no plans he had at all, he had the day off work and saving her from medical books for the day sounded like the best idea. “It is a beautiful day and I’d love to spend it with my amazing girlfriend so sure get ready to be saved from the textbooks.” He stated as he put the paper down, “How long until you’re ready?” He asked not sure if she was ready to go then or if she needed a while, “I can be at your place within an hour if you’re okay with that?” He asked her not sure if she wanted him to pick her up.

Chloe should have known she wouldn’t wake him, he was always awake earlier than she was. She wasn’t much of a morning person most days and this was rather early for her especially on her day off. She smiled hearing his voice on the other end of the line, “Reading the paper or checking the basketball scores? If you’ve made it past the sports section you definitely got up way too early this morning.” She laughed. Chloe had never been a big fan of basketball, but seeing as Jackson seemed to enjoy it so much she had been working on trying to get tickets so that they could watch his favorite team play. She figured it was the least she could do to thank him for being so amazing and putting up with everything that had come their way. She had finally gotten her hands on the tickets last night. Chloe always had fun with him no matter what they were doing so she decided that a basketball game would be no different. She was planning on surprising him with the tickets this afternoon. Hearing him call her his girlfriend never got old, and never failed to bring a huge smile to her face. She was happier than she had been in forever and she still wondered what she had done to deserve someone as great as Jackson. “I’m just drying my hair so I’m practically ready already, within the hour sounds good. I’ll be ready when you get here. Drive careful.” She pulled her hair up into a quick pony tail and applied a little make up before going to the kitchen and grabbing a strawberry yogurt for breakfast. She sat at the kitchen island and ate while looking at her schedule for the upcoming week. To say it was going to be crazy was an understatement but she had managed to switch a few days at work so that she would be able to take her exams. She had just double checked to make sure that she was going to be off on the night of the basketball game when she heard the knocking on her door. She hid the tickets under her place mat and went to answer the door. Tag: Jackson Martin

Jackson laughed when she spoke about reading the paper and being up too early, “It’s the start of the day besides if I wasn’t up then I’d have missed your call and there’s no way I’d have wanted to do that.” He said grinning, he loved his basketball then again the team he routed for were awful but then one day they had to win right? It wasn’t as if they didnt even try it was just they tired badly he thought but he was a loyal fan so he wasn’t about to swap sides to a safer bet.
It was nice to call her his girlfriend, he had missed actually having a girlfriend or at least another adult that he could talk to that wasn’t work related. He was happy and that he didnt want to change at all. Chloe was great and the sort of person he had given up on finding out there but there she was. “I will and see you soon.” He said as he finished his breakfast and set about getting out of his place to go and pick her up. He couldnt hide the smile on his face when he drove over to her place.
He had pulled on a pair of jeans and a shirt as had shoved his jacket into the car too, he had stopped at the store to get her some flowers as well given all that had happened he figured she deserved them. He wasn’t really up on his flowers but some sort of daisy flowers mixed in with roses he figured looked nice as he made his way to her place. He knew what his work week was going to be and anything less than a disaster or total chaos he was pretty much set in his hours if he wanted to be though given the fact he now had a girlfriend e was actually leaving a reasonable time most days.
Jackson made his way to her front door as he knocked on it, not wanting to just barge in because this was her place though he remembered how he had been at the hotel room. He held up the flowers to the door as he waited for Chloe to answer. “Special delivery for Chloe Nunn.” He stated as he held them out for her grinning as he was happy to be there and see her.

As Chloe opened the door she was greeted with a lovely bunch of flowers, she took them from Jackson and grabbed his hand pulling him inside before wrapping her arms around him and kissing him for a moment, “I’ve missed you so much. You didn’t have to get me flowers, getting to see you and spend the day with you is more than enough.” She sniffed the flowers, “Thank you though, they’re very pretty… I should probably go put them in a vase. Come on inside, make yourself at home… Do you want something to drink?” She asked heading towards the kitchen to find herself a vase. As she dragged a stool across the floor and climbed on top of it she asked, “So what do you want to do today? I didn’t really have anything specific in mind, but I knew I wanted to spend today with you hopefully doing something outside so we can enjoy the nice weather.” After having found and retrieved the vase from the very back of the cabinet she pulled it down and filled it with water and inhaled the scent of the flowers again before placing them gently in the vase. She set the vase in the center of her kitchen island. She reached under her placemat from this morning and pulled out the basketball tickets, she figured that now was as good a time as any to give them to Jackson. She hid the tickets behind her back when she saw him and smiled. “So… I have something for you too. That I’m pretty sure you’re going to like, at least I hope you do.” She pulled the tickets out and handed them to him. “So I have a friend that got these for me, and they assured me that they were really good tickets and pretty hard to get. So I thought maybe instead of just reading the scores in the paper, you’d like to go to a game. With just one condition… you have to take me with you.” She hugged him and placed another kiss on his lips before pulling back slightly and looking him in the eye before speaking again, “I figure that it’s the least I can do, you’ve been so amazing to me… through everything. You’re everything I thought I’d never find, and somehow I’ve not only managed to be lucky enough to find you, but I seem to have convinced you to be my boyfriend. I’m pretty sure that I don’t deserve you, but I’m certainly not going to complain. You make me happier than I’ve ever been.” Tag: Jackson Martin

Jackson grinned when she grabbed his hand and pulled him inside. He felt her wrap her arms around him as he kissed her back happy to be there with her as he held her for a moment. He had seriously missed her since texting last he thought. “I’ve missed you too and yes I did, besides there’s no have in it. I wanted to. Plus I get to see and spend the day with you too so you putting up with me deserves flowers.” He said grinning watching her sniff the flowers. Jackson took a few steps inside as he nodded, “Sure, if you’ve got coffee that would be great but if not dont worry.” He asked as he smiled.
Jackson listened to her as he nodded, the day was lovely outside he thought as he tried to think of a few outdoors things to do. “I’m up for anything so what do you want to do? Walk? Picnic? It’s up to you, I’m just happy with spending my day with you so anything else is just a bonus.” He said grinning at her though honestly he did feel that way. Jackson watched her placed the flowers on the kitchen Island as he smiled seeing her smile, honestly that was all he needed to see to make his day a little brighter he thought.
When she smiled and spoke about having something for him he furrowed his brow at her slightly. “Oh, well I’m sure i’ll like it unless this is the moment you reveal how you’ve been a serial killer all along and now you’re choosing to tell me?” He asked her grinning as he saw the tickets she handed to him as he looked at them. He barely heard her speaking as he stared at them for a moment and the nodded to her unable to make much of a noise other than a strange squealing noise of excitement.
“Are you serious? Course I’d take you with you, I mean... these tickets are fantastic how did you even?” He said before he remembered she had told him about her friend as he nodded and moved over to her to hug her tightly. Kissing her lips as he grinned and laughed shaking his head, “Okay these tickets are awesome and thank you so much Chloe but you don’t have to do anything like this. I’m more than happy to be there for you no matter that it is.” It was true it didnt matter to him what was going on he was just happy to be there for her no matter what it was.
“You deserve a lot better than me Chloe and I’m the lucky one here to have you calling yourself my girlfriend which is fantastic by the way. You make me happier than ever and thank you for that, and for everything that you’ve done for me which is a lot more than you know.” He said knowing that without Chloe he still wouldnt have had a clue that there were any good people left in the world. The sort of person that could make him smile just by being in the same room as him and that person for him was Chloe.

She smiled and kissed him again when he said that putting up with him deserved flowers, “I don’t just put up with you, I love spending time with you. I figured you’d want some coffee so I just made a pot, I’ll pour you a cup.” On the way to the kitchen she heard him suggest a walk and a picnic, and decided that sounded perfect. After getting the flowers settled on the island she poured him a cup of coffee and handed it to him. “One black coffee.” She said before turning to pour her own cup, adding cream and sugar to make it where she could stand to drink it. She turned back to Jackson and took a sip of her coffee, “I was thinking maybe we could do both a walk and a picnic, we could walk for a bit and then find somewhere to sit down and have lunch. I could pack us something real quick or we could find a food truck or something and get us some food there, either way is fine with me. Did you have somewhere in particular in mind?” She laughed when he brought up the serial killer conversation from the night they met, “No… no I’m not quite ready to admit to being a serial killer just yet.” She watched him look at the tickets and nod to her, before he started squealing. “Ok… so I’m taking it from your reaction that I did pretty well with these tickets.” She smiled and watched him, Chloe enjoyed seeing him this happy. She felt like he deserved to be happy, he’d stood by her through everything with Brian and had been nothing short of amazing since they’d started dating. He knew what to say to make her smile, and he made her happy all the time. Chloe couldn’t wipe the smile off her face when he finally started talking. When he asked about how she had even managed to get the tickets, she laughed “A girl has to have her secrets… but seriously a guy I went to school with somehow works with the team and gets tickets to every home game. When I bumped into him the other day on a call, I noticed he had on a team shirt… I may have mentioned to him that they were my boyfriend’s favorite team, and he told me he could get me tickets… so he did.” She returned his kiss before laughing with him. “I know I don’t have to, but I want to… and I’m glad I did seeing you this happy was worth it.” When he started in on her deserving better than him, she sighed and shook her head but let him finish. She poked him gently in the chest and smiled before she corrected him, “Jackson you sell yourself short, I’m entirely convinced that there is nobody better than you anywhere. At least not for me, I’m beyond ecstatic that I make you happy… because I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy in my entire life. I have a job I love, School is going great. I’m so close to finishing up school and starting my residency that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, which is beyond amazing. Chicago is starting to feel an awful lot like home, and there’s this amazing guy that has been there for me through everything. He supports me, he understands when I have to study, I just couldn’t ask for anyone better and he even lets me call him my boyfriend.” She pressed a gentle kiss to his lips and held him close just enjoying the feeling of being in his arms. She cleared her throat, “Now that we’ve settled that… Have you decided what you want to do about food for today? Am I packing or are we going to grab something wherever we’re going?” Tag: Jackson Martin

Jackson blushed slightly when she said she loved spending time with him, it was something he wasnt used to people saying well he hadn’t heard it too often before though with Chloe he loved spending time with her too. “Sure that’d be great thanks.” He said as he followed her to the kitchen and took the cup of coffee she had offered him. “Thanks.” He said as he took a drink watching her pour cream and sugar into hers, it was perhaps the Marines that had knocked the cream and sugar out of his life but he couldnt drink it if it was anything other than black.
“Now that sounds like a plan and sure if you want to pack something or I can get us something on the way?” He offered not wanting her to think she had to do that as he had no problem in finding them a food truck somewhere to get something from. “How about LaBagh Woods, it’s got trails and picnic areas or we could go to Lincoln Park, they’ve got a Zoo if you want?” He offered, Chicago as a city had lots of places to walk around and placed not too far out either that were great. It had surprised him to begin with but then most things did usually.
Jackson chuckled when she insisted she wasnt quiet ready to admit the serial killer side. “Okay whenever you feel like it just make sure that you’re not holding any sharp objects.” He said with a grin, then there was the matter of the tickets as he couldnt have been happier as he nodded to her. “Serious, pretty well I mean these are fantastic tickets....wow.” He said staring at them for a moment as he grinned hat her, so he was acting like he was two years old but then again this was best thing ever in his mind.
Listening to how she had managed to get the tickets he couldnt take the smile off his face at all. “I get you flowers and you do this, next time it’s your turn.” He said still smiling as hugged her, Jackson wasnt used to people doing things like that for him. He had no problem with getting things for her finding out what she liked but he hadn’t even thought she would get tickets for his favourite team. He kissed her again as he gazed at her. “I’m happy without tickets, you make me very happy Chloe.” He said knowing that he hadn’t been this happy for years if ever and that was all thanks to her.
He listened to her when she said that she was happy, he figured that there would be someone better out there for her because in his eyes he was amazing. Smart, funny, beautiful and she was with him though hearing that she was happy it was all he wanted to make her. She deserved to be happy and especially after everything she had been through already. He kissed her gently enjoying the feel of being close to her. “He does? I’d love to meet this guy, is he hiding in the closet?” He joked as he grinned, “Or on the other foot, there’s this funny, smart beautiful woman who works hard and studied just as hard. She gets the guy she’s with and he see her as amazing and more than words can ever say. Surprising she even lets him call her girlfriend.” He said grinning.
He grinned at her again, “Well it’s up to you, I can get us something to eat no problem but if you want to pack something, that’s great too so I’ll leave it up to you.” He said as he grinned at her, “Because I’m good with either because I get to spend time with you today.”

Chloe watched him blush when she said she loved spending time with him, and thought it was absolutely adorable. She smiled and placed a kiss on his lips, “Do you have any idea how cute it is when you do that?” She heard him tell her that coffee would be great and could tell that he was following her to the kitchen. She made a face when she watched him take a drink of his coffee, and after she finished mixing hers she took a big sip of hers and smiled. She was excited to see what the day would hold. She considered both options, both sounded good to her as she’d never been to either place before. “I tell you what, I’m going to let you decide where we’re going because both sound great and as long as I’m with you I don’t care where we are. We’ll just have to go to whichever you don’t choose today next time. I’m going to call in some sandwiches to the little deli on the corner and we can grab them before we leave.” She laughed when he told her that she couldn’t be holding anything sharp when she admitted to being a serial killer, “I couldn’t kill you anyway… because I… well I’m kind of attached to you now so I guess you’re stuck with me even if I happen to be holding a sharp object.” She couldn’t keep the smile off her face as she watched him with the tickets. He deserved this and so much more, and she was going to make sure that he knew how much she appreciated him. She was invested in this and trying to figure out the things he liked and doing the small things to make him happy. “My turn? What do you mean it’s my turn? Getting to see you this happy is all I need, I’m happy when you’re happy and the flowers are great… I feel like you’re spoiling me, and I wanted to do something for you for a change.” She smiled and kissed him back, feeling every bit as excited as he was. “I’m glad I make you happy, because you’re pretty amazing and I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy…” She hugged him tight and kissed him again. “My day just doesn’t feel right if I don’t get to talk to you, and I hate it when I don’t get to see you even if it is just for a few minutes.” She stuck her tongue out and pinched him gently in the side when he asked her if there was a guy hiding in her closet. “No silly, and if there’s someone hiding in my closet you better kick him out because I don’t care who he is if he isn’t you I don’t want him here.” When he started talking about her calling her funny, smart, and beautiful she blushed and buried her face in his chest. When he finished she looked up at him smiling, “I guess we’re both pretty lucky then, aren’t we?” She kissed him and held him tight watching him grin, “I think we should go with the sandwiches from the deli, next time I’ll plan better and have something cooked ahead of time that I can pack for us to share.” She liked to think that there was going to be a next time. “Maybe after I take my finals this week things will slow up for me a bit for awhile. I have really missed spending time with you, and feel like I’ve been a pretty crappy girlfriend lately.” Between work and studying she hadn’t had much time for anything else the past few weeks, but she knew that was about to end this week. She had scheduled a meeting with her program director to discuss setting up her internship next week and would hopefully start interviewing for that soon. She was hoping that she could end up getting on in the ER at Med, she knew most of the doctors there and she’d still get to see her co-workers when they brought in patients. Tag: Jackson Martin

When she placed the kiss on his lips he was in heaven, there wasnt anything else that could be like that he thought smiling. “Cute... me no way. It’s just a little warm in here you know.” He said grinning as he tried not to blush any more than he was doing. He chuckled at the face she made when he drank his coffee, “Everything okay?” He asked her grinning as he took another sip, “Ahhh tastes so good thank you.” So he was teasing her a little as he grinned, then again black coffee was practically a food group to him so there was nothing wrong with it in his head.
“Okay then, I think Lincoln Park just because of the Zoo plus is has a few good trails to follow and it shouldn’t be too bad for a start I think.” He said figuring that dragging her around a trail that went on for miles might not be the best idea as he smiled and nodded about the sandwiches. “As long as you’re sure.” He said not wanting her to do that if she wasnt sure about it though grabbing them before they left would be good he figured.
“Awww so you like me too much to kill me... I’m flattered.” He said grinning lightly as he laughed, “Then I’ll let you near me with sharp objects then because yeah I guess you’re stuck with me too. Serial killer or not I’m attached to you too.” Jackson didnt need to be shown how much she appreciated him, her simply smiling was enough for him to be happy because she deserved a lot more than just a bunch of flowers. He liked her, a lot and figuring her out was great though he knew he had to do something nice for her just what it would be he didnt know quite yet.
“It is your turn now so when I figure something out you’ll be the second to know about it.” He said grinning as he shook his head, “The flowers, you deserve a lot more than just the flowers and I love to spoil you whenever I can do because you’re worth spoiling.” He said smiling as he felt her kiss him. He hugged her back and kissed her for a moment, “You do and I hope I make you happy too, you’re right about the day though not speaking to you makes everything seem like it’s off somehow. And seeing you, well that just makes the day a whole lot brighter.” He stated grinning at her.
He chuckled and squirmed slightly when she gently pinched him in the side. “Oh really, I mean what if he’s better than I am... and you never know. On all the movies there’s usually someone hiding in the closet.” He said meaning the horror films, yes he had a seen a few and usually the closet was not the safe hiding place at all. He smiled down at her when she looked up at him, “I guess we are pretty lucky then, least I know I am to be with you.” He said still not sure why she had picked him but then again he wasnt arguing at all about it. Chloe was that great person that he wanted to get to know a lot better.
“Sure, and no next time the plan is perfect you dont have to worry about a thing.” He said not wanting her to go through any trouble on his account though the ‘next time’ part sounded pretty promising after all getting to go out with her again well that was just fantastic. “You’ve been a fantastic girlfriend Chloe and finals are important so I’m not getting in the way of that at all. You take all the time you need to study and I’ll be there after no matter what. Besides after finals if we get to spend more time together I’m looking forward to it.”
Jackson knew what he had signed on for, study and work well he had work but then the hours changed at times so he understood not getting time for much else. Then again after she had finished her finals maybe she could get to do what she really wanted to with the ER because that would be fantastic. “So how about after you finish your finals, I get you pamper day to help you relax and maybe we can get away for a few days or a weekend if you wanted to? Even in the city if you want.” He offered not sure how she would take that but then any time he got to spend with her was good by him.

Chloe laughed when Jackson denied being cute and shook her head, the more he denied it the cuter it made him in her eyes. “Warm? Well if it’s too warm in here for you I guess there won’t be any cuddling before we leave then, I’d hate to make you any warmer.” She teased. When he asked her if everything was ok she smirked and nodded, and when he continued to tease her she smiled and took another sip of her coffee. She walked over to him and leaned in closer careful not to spill either of their cups she kissed him again for a moment, “Everything is better than ok, it’s perfect now that you’re here.” Chloe smiled when he decided on Lincoln Park and the Zoo, “The zoo sounds amazing, I haven’t been to a zoo in forever. We used to go all the time when I was a kid… I love animals, wanted to be a vet for the longest time until I realized that I couldn’t handle it when our dog died.” She was practically bouncing with excitement as she spoke. “Yay! I’m so excited that I don’t even care about the food anymore, maybe we should just wait and get something at the park so we don’t have to carry our food around with us.” She smiled at him as he laughed, “I’ll have you know that I like you way too much to ever kill you, and you should be flattered because I don’t say that to too many people.” She laughed when he said she was stuck with him and whether or not she was a serial killer he was attached to her too. What had she done right to deserve this man, as far as she was concerned he was perfect and she could no longer imagine her life without him in it. She was pretty sure that she was already head over heels in love with him, but didn’t want to rush things by saying it just yet. Chloe had never felt this way about anyone before, but she hadn’t met any of his family yet and as important as they were to him she knew that was a big step they still needed to take. She had mentioned him to her parents and hoped that they would meet someday, but their opinion wasn’t all that important to her so even if they weren’t overly excited about him it wasn’t going to change her feelings for him at all. “I promise you I didn’t get you the tickets so it could be my turn, I did it because I knew it would make you happy. If I can do something that makes you even half as happy as you make me, it’s worth it and I’m going to do it every time. I’m not going to lie and say that I don’t enjoy being spoiled, but I don’t want you to feel like you have to do it because I promise I’d be here even if there were no flowers or spoiling.” She smiled and nodded when he said he hoped he made her happy too she barely let him finish what he was saying before she jumped in, “If you don’t know how happy you make me, I must be doing something wrong. Baby I can’t remember a time when I have ever been this happy… ever.” Chloe noticed how he squirmed when she pinched him in the side, realizing that he must be at least a little ticklish and filed that information away for later use. She vehemently shook her head when he asked what if the other guy was better than him. “Usually the guy in the closet is either wielding a hatchet and planning on killing everyone or is the poor sap that hid in there and is going to be the first to die, besides silly… there is nobody better than you.” She nodded when he agreed with her about being lucky. She blushed when he said she’d been a fantastic girlfriend and wrinkled her nose when he said that finals were important, and smiled when he reassured her that he’d still be around afterwards. She sighed and pouted a bit, “I know… but I miss you when I don’t get to see you and then I’m cranky at work and nobody wants to be around me.” She giggled, “As a matter of fact I have a new partner at work, and I think I may have scared him already. Poor guy.” When Jackson suggested a pamper day to help her relax after her finals and a chance to get away with him for a few days, she smiled. “I would love to get away with you, whether it be in the city or somewhere else. Heck I’d be happy hiding away with you in your apartment for a few days, as long as I got to be with you. I’ve got some vacation days that I’ll need to use before I change jobs, so that sounds like a perfect idea to me.” She couldn’t seem to stop smiling at the thought of getting the chance to have some time away with him. “I’ll leave all the planning up to you, so surprise me.” She said before leaning in to kiss him again, yeah… she loved him. Jackson frowned when she said there was no more cuddling before they left, “Oh well I’m not that warm... could turn cold in a minute or two.” He said grinning at her as he took a drink of his coffee, he wasnt usually that particular about food but coffee it had to be back there was no other way for it to be though the thought of anything else being added in. Nope it had to be black coffee or to him it was undrinkable. Kissing her back he just smiled at her, “I could have said the same thing when I arrived.” He said, there was just something about her that made everything perfect.
“Really? You’ve not been for ages?” He said surprised, when he was younger all he wanted to do was go to the zoo, then again when he was that age he had to rely on parents to take him. Now he could just go when he felt like it which was a lot of the time. “Yeah being a vet is a very tough job, animals are like humans in a way. They get to be a part of the family so it’s tough when they go.” He said grinning as he saw her excitement over going. “If you’d like to do that? I am okay either way but if you want to wait and get something there I can do that too.”
He laughed when she spoke about liking him too much to kill him, wasnt that what all the serial killers said in the movie right before the fatal blow was struck? Still she seemed far too nice to do anything like that. “I am flattered and so you go around killing people often then?” He asked her as he grinned at her. Had anyone told him that there was someone like Chloe right around the corner he would have laughed and gone the other way for the simple reason that he didnt know that anyone like her could exist. Jackson knew she was special and he felt a lot for her though he just wasnt sure how to tell her that.
If he misjudged it then she would run off or if he messed it all up like he had done previously... it was better keeping quiet and having fun. After all she still had his sister and father to meet and yes if she got passed those two then she was definitely the one for him. Family mattered to him but then again he knew his dad wasnt the kind to just out right tell him what to do, his sister on the other hand but then again it was the strange conversation of Hey this is my adoptive family though she already knew that.
“I know you did and I love that but then tickets versus flowers... trust me I will find something for you. Well I am very very very happy with you even being here with me so the tickets are just extras.” He said as he couldnt have been happier than to spend time with her. “Well if you promise but you are still going to be spoiled because I like to do it.” Jackson hadn’t usually been the over the top kind, a gift at every corner type but when it mattered he tried to do his best even if it was the small things. Jackson shook his head when she said she must have been doing something wrong. “I love that you’re happy Chloe I really do, I guess I just find it amazing that I can make you that happy.” He said honestly glad that he could at least do that for her.
“So you’ve put a lot of thought into who’s hiding in your closet. I mean, hatchet wielder, the killer and the victim. You’ve a lot of guys hiding in there.” He teased as he grinned at her, “Least I’m not holding a hatchet right?” Seeing her pout he still kept his smile, he knew how important finals were to her and that wasnt going to scare him off into just leaving. “You get cranky? Awww, well me too but it’s important so it will just be better when we can spend more time together. Oh a new partner, what did you do to him already?” Jackson asked grinning wondering what it was she could have possible done.
“Sure I’d love to hide you in my apartment for a few days, whichever you would like to do.” He said grinning at her, he loved spending time with her and there really was nothing better than that. If she had vacation days to take then it just got better and better as he tried to think of a great place to go. “I will try my best to do that.” He said grinning at her as he kissed her back as he wound his arms around her completely forgetting about his coffee.

Chloe laughed at him when he frowned and laughed when he said he might get cold in a minute or two. “Ha! You do like to cuddle, I knew it wasn’t just me.” Just being held in his arms was an amazing feeling, and even if Jackson claimed to be hot she wouldn’t turn down a cuddle. Tasting the coffee on his lips when she kissed him she decided that maybe black coffee wasn’t so bad when he was drinking it. She shook her head excitedly when Jackson seemed surprised that she hadn’t been to the zoo in awhile, “No… and I’ve never ever been to the zoo here, I’m sure it’s much bigger and better than the one I went to as a kid.” When he commented on it being tough to be a vet, she smiled “Yeah… I prefer taking care of people even if the animals would probably make better patients most of the time.” She nodded when he said that they could get their food there. “Just that way we don’t spend the first half of the day carrying our food around.” She stuck her tongue out at him when he asked her if she went around killing people often, “Only the ones I don’t like,” She giggled, “but you told me that wasn’t a problem… because you weren’t going anywhere even if I was a serial killer so you’re still stuck with me.” Who would have ever thought that a conversation from their first date would still be an ongoing joke between the two of them. Never failed to make her laugh anytime he brought it up because it wasn’t normal first date conversation but it had been funny at the time, and was still funny. Chloe was scared to really open up too much about her feelings for Jackson, because as she saw it they had a good thing going and there was no reason to mess it up by taking a chance on scaring him away. Plus given her track record, the last man she had said those three little words to, used to hit her on a frequent basis. She knew Jackson would never hurt her, the thought had never crossed her mind but she was understandably still a little scared to use the ‘L’ word anywhere but in her head. Chloe knew that Jackson’s family meant a lot to him and it scared her a little, what if they didn’t like her? She was scared that she would make a bad impression and because they ended up not liking her, everything would be over. “And I love the fact that you stopped and got me flowers for no reason, and the tickets weren’t just for you… I get to go and spend time with you too. And I love that you like to spoil me, but just want you to know that I don’t expect to be so it’s just an added bonus. The small things you do on a daily basis mean more than any gift ever could.” She hugged him tight when he said that it was amazing that he could make her happy, “You’re amazing.” She laughed when he spoke of all the thought she had put into who was hiding in her closet. “Can’t say as anyone has ever been in my closet silly, but in those cheesy scary movies the closet is always a bad spot to hide. Plus if I had that many guys hiding in my closet the police would be here because I certainly didn’t invite them in here. You however can hide in my closet whenever you want, but I hate to tell you I don’t own a hatchet. So you might just have to deal with a butcher knife.” She shook her head when he asked what she had done to her partner, “Nothing really I just haven’t had time to get to know him, or anything. I’ve been too busy studying, he probably thinks I’m stuck up or something. I’ve been stressed and cranky lately too, he’ll probably be happy when I leave.” She smiled at the thought of hiding in his apartment, even that would be amazing. She really didn’t care whichever he chose to do, because having time after her finals and before she started her new shift at a new job to spend with this amazing man was all she really needed to be refreshed she didn’t care where they were. When he kissed her and wrapped his arms around her she sighed happily and kissed him back. Jackson Martin

He laughed with her as he nodded, “Maybe I do but I’m glad you do too.” He said grinning at her, he loved to hold her and cuddle her. It was mind bending that he could ever feel that way again about another woman as he hadn’t ever expected to. To think that he missed her whenever she wasnt there and her kiss, just the thought of it could send him onto cloud nine. It was just an amazing feeling to be there with her no matter what they were doing.
“The zoo here is great I’m sure you’ll love it.” He said forgetting that she had just moved to Chicago, to him the zoo was like an escape. It wasnt as if you saw lions every day in the city or ring tailed limas running around but it was like stepping inside another world an each more different from the last. To him it was almost a shame to leave but he understood that he couldnt camp out there all night. “Pretty sure animals would be just as tough as people... I mean you wouldnt get the same conversation but still.” He said chuckling lightly as he nodded about the food.
Jackson grinned about the serial killer conversation, “So I guess if you like me then I’m safe enough.” He said as he thought about what he had said. “Yeah I did say that didnt I, you’d make a very cute killer though I mean CPD would never believe it was you.” Jackson was sure of that, one smile from her and he was sure they would be looking elsewhere for a killer even if she had done it. The conversation from their first date, well the first date wasnt exactly normal and the conversation less so but it was all good fun.
The last woman Jackson had said he loved had betrayed him, not that he thought Chloe would do that but then saying those three words was a lot and was she even ready if he did say it? After everything she had been through he didnt want to add to her worry or worse what if he did say it and she didnt feel the same way. Was he being too serious about things? No he did love her but knowing it and saying it were two different things. Jackson knew his family would love Chloe too, his dad well that was complicated at the moment given everything that had happened and his sister well it wasnt up to them who he loved.
“Then I love the tickets more because I get to spend time with you. I know you dont expect it but it’s what you deserve and I will keep doing the small things and maybe a few bigger things too.” He said as he hugged her back, he had never thought of himself as amazing in fact far from it but it was nice to hear even if he didnt quiet believe it himself. He could spoil her all day long and not think twice about it, she deserved to be spoiled and not just for all that had happened it was because he did love her and that just made it easier to spoil her. “You are amazing too.”
Chloe had a point, the closet was the first place to look in every movie. “I might take you up on the offer of hiding in there, could surprise you one day?” He said grinning though how much of a good idea that might be remained to be seen. The last thing he wanted was to scare her to death that someone actually was in the closet that wasnt supposed to be there. “Only a butchers knife? Ouch, think I need to get you a hatchet.” He stated as he listened to her talk about her partner. “I doubt that and if he does just tell him I’ll put him straight on that.” He said sure that he would talk to the guy if he had anything less that great things to say about her.
Kissing her he could have been there all day as he considered leaving the zoo for another day. He never much thought about that as he pulled away for a moment and gazed at her. “Chloe.” He said as he wanted to say those three words to her but he wasnt sure if he could or at least if she felt the same way. “Chloe I, I lo...” He took a breath as he tried to look around for a moment, “Look at the time, we had better make a move or the place will close.” He said knowing that was a lie as he decided he didnt want to ruin the day if she said she didnt or worse reacted badly to it. He really should have thought it through more he told himself as leaned to kiss her lightly again for a moment.

She smiled when he said he loved the tickets more because he got to spend time with her, “Jackson… I love… spending time with you, it doesn’t matter what we’re doing as long as we’re together.” When he called her amazing she scoffed a bit, “If you say so… then it must be true. I’m going to see how my finals go before I feel too amazing.” Laughing as he said he might surprise her by hiding in her closet one day, she took up a karate pose “Do that and I might beat you up by mistake… even though I really don’t know karate, I can make it look realistic enough in a pinch.” She quirked an eyebrow and cocked her head to the side when he mentioned getting her a hatchet, “What on earth would I do with a hatchet? Do I look like the type that chops wood? Is that even what a hatchet is used for, or is that an axe? I think I’ll stick to my 9mm, I don’t have to get that close to someone to take them down with that.” Smiling as he went on about her partner, “Nahh no need for that, I’m hoping I don’t have to worry about that for much longer. I’ll miss my coworkers but I’m ready to be in the hospital already. Maybe I can stay on part time with the FD and fill in a couple shifts here or there. I just hope they don’t shove me on night shift, I can’t sleep during the day.” When he said her name she looked at him “Hmm.” And when he went on to start to say something and got nervous before he could finish she smiled and laughed, “Yeah…. Look at the time.” She kissed him back for a moment, before pulling back looking him in the eyes, “Hey… just so you know… I love you too.” She really hoped that had been what he had been trying to say, because if not she had just made a gigantic fool of herself. “I mean… if… well… you know if that’s what you were going to say, and if not… forget I said it until you’re ready to hear it.” Realizing that she was rambling she kissed him again to keep from making a bigger fool out of herself.
