She had enough on her plate without having to cover for another detective as well though like clockwork the files were dropped on her desk. Marked with colourful notes as to which was the most urgent to look into, Jia had all but hit her head off her desk when she set out in search of the latest scene. It was early morning and as she set out for the docks. It was still a big if as to what had happened that night, an abandoned warehouse on the docks of Chicago, a disco or at least that was what she remembered them being called.
Pyrotechnics had gone off and later the fire brigade and police were in attendance for a full scale incident. Those who had been there were lucky as the worst of the damage to the humans had been smoke inhalation however Jia was there trying to work out the cause of the fire. The DJ pleaded innocence to owning faulty fireworks for inside and yet Jia had a file filled with photographs and details of a fire that was still undetermined. It was why she was skulking around the docks or rather working.
She was dressed in jeans and a fire department jacket that was waterproof as the water from the engines still dripped through the ceiling. It would do for a few more days given the area and the amount of water used. She wore her hard hat and a torch, her knife was tucked away in her boot while her gun sat within reach on a belt around her hips as she moved debris here and there trying to locate any shred of evidence that could tell her what had happened earlier that evening.
