| T he time between the bar and coming home, Erin had taken time to cool down. Closing the door behind her she stepped over the puppy. Her weekend had been rather rough. Her hair and her clothes smelled like beer for doing her job. Though she was not wanting to hear how she should have gone with backup even to serve papers or some other BS. She tossed her clothes onto the bathroom floor and started running the shower.
Getting in she let the water hit her and calm her down even more. One hand on the shower as she supported her weight to keep from slipping. Really she needed to get a new non slip mat, this one was losing its traction. It was very abnormal for Erin to not come acknowledge Jay when she got home. Then again who wanted affection from a women who drenched in beer. So she was picking her battles. Besides he looked so absorbed in some supernatural black and white superstitious whatever it was he was watching. Maybe she could sneak a shower in before saying Hi?

Jay was sick. And miserable. He didn't like being sick. But hey, it wasn't a total loss. He had found a Twilight Zone marathon playing, so he was pretty happy even if the episodes weren't in any sort of order but jumping from season to season. At the present, the episode playing was "It's A Good Life", which in his opinion, was one of the creepier episodes. When he heard the door opened, he turned and gave a small wave, smiling a bit as she headed past him. Work must've been rough, he thought to herself. She looked exhausted, and if she looked that wrecked, that meant that they had caught a bad one. Wonder if she wants to talk, he thought to himself. Granted, he wasn't the best to talk to at the moment because he felt like crap, but he'd listen if she needed it. His eyes flickered as she went on and he leaned back a bit as he heard the faint sounds of the shower. Okay then. She was beat. Understandable. He'd just let her go to bed. He grabbed the remote off of the table and turned the volume down a bit. Not so low that he couldn't still hear it, but low enough that it wouldn't disturb her when she went to bed. Ugh...hate being sick, he thought to himself as he began to cough and then reached for a kleenex. Maybe he should go to sleep himself. Yeah. After this episode. It was a good one and it was halfway done. Might as well watch the rest of it. He then stretched out on the couch, laying against the pillow and watching the episode. This episode always creeped me out as a kid, he thought to himself. Which was probably why it was one of his favorites. He had always liked things that scared him. Yes, he was that weirdo. You can find the episode I referenced here: www.imdb.com/title/tt0734580/?ref_=fn_ep_tt_1 and here: www.tv.com/shows/the-twilight-zone/its-a-good-life-12658/

| E rin got out of the shower feeling a little better but still rather miserable. The stuff she did for people, sometimes she had to wonder. His episode was still rolling when she came out of her quick 10 minute shower. Try as she may the beer smell was going to linger in her hair. That was almost unavoidable. Yeah explaining that one at work was going to be fascinating. Not something she wanted to have to explain to Hank.
Erin moved into the kitchen and made Jay some tea. She knew he was sick. Setting the tea down on the table near his head she snuck in on part of the couch playing with a little bit of his hair. "Feeling any better?" She knew he felt miserable but any improvement from this morning would be nice.
Though she had been hoping she could have gotten him to shower and clear his senses but clearly twilight zone was more enticing than her. Though honestly, she couldn't blame him. He was sick and she knew he wasn't exactly going to let her that close to him. He'd been glued to the episodes all day but she thought it was rude to interrupt. So of course asking him if was feeling better was a stretch; but to her that was important right now. She kissed his forehead subconsciously checking to see if he had a fever. One of those things women were good at doing. So she wasn't much of a mother hen but she was concerned. Though she moved back some knowing he wasn't going to let her too close to his space for too long.

Hearing the shower stop, Jay's eyes flickered as he turned to watch as Erin came out, asking him if he felt better. "Little bit. Resting helped," he answered as she kissed his forehead. "How was work?" he wondered as she stepped back. Part of him hated to lose the contact and wanted to pull her back close to him, but his more practical side was grateful that she had sense enough not to get too close while he was sick. He'd never forgive himself if she got sick because of him. Okay, granted, he knew that wasn't something he could totally control, but hey, he could try a bit, right? Right. Okay, he needed to stop thinking like this. It wasn't getting him anywhere.
He was about to say more when the clacking of toenails was heard and their German Shepherd puppy ran to them and jumped onto the couch, laying next to Jay. "Hey Rinty," he greeted, scratching the puppy behind his ears. Yes, he had named the dog Rin-Tin-Tin. What could he say? He was a fan. Sometimes his dad would let him and Will stay up late to watch the old serials when they come on TMC. Especially when Mom had first gotten sick. Yeah, that hadn't been all that great. But they had dealt with it. Maybe not in the best way possible, with Will out partying, Dad burying himself in work, and him going off to join the Army, but it had been dealt with and that was all that mattered. At least in his opinion.

| E rin curled up at Jay's feet after she pulled away as the dog was jumping up in between them. 'You hungry any?" She rested her hand on the back of his shin lightly rubbing with her thumb. When he mentioned work she made a face. "Slow enough that I was hand delivering restraining orders" she pointed out. Her hand stroking the puppy's back. First, she had been against the puppy on the couch; but times like this she let it slide and didn't say anything was probably going to teach Rinty bad habits. Erin didn't care, Jay's well being came first and if that meant the dog took over the couch then so be it.
"Hank put me with Al. It's going to be a long week" she pointed out. The sooner Jay came back to work the better. Erin was not going to take kindly to the whole women can't do a man's job as well crap that Al tended to deal with. Jay over Al when it came to partners any day of the week. Erin ran her hand up and down Jay's leg. Erin grabbed the phone and the pizza menu. She was sick of take out but she was in no mood to cook and she knew that neither was Jay. "Extra anchovies right" she teased him gently. Erin knew better but teasing Jay to make him smile or make a face. Totally worth it.

At her question of whether or not he was hungry, he shrugged. “I could eat,” he replied. So he wasn’t really that hungry, but he knew that he had to eat. After all, he needed to keep up his strength. And food would help him to do that. He reached out and ran his hand through Rinty's fur. He's helped so much, he thought to himself. The nightmares weren't coming as much, mostly because Rinty tended to cuddle with him and he could feel the dog poking at him with his nose whenever his sleep started getting frantic.
He then made a face as she said that it had been slow enough where she was hand-delivering restraining orders. "That's always fun," he said sarcastically. He hated having to deliver restraining orders because of how unpredictable people could be. "Need any ice?" he asked. Not that he was doubting that she could handle a situation because he knew that she could, but there was always some idiot who thought that they could take her down which resulted in her getting bruises in various places.
When she said that Hank had put her with Al and that it was going to be a long week, he nodded. "You'll be fine. Al likes you," he reminded. And he'll look out for you, he thought. Not that she needed protection. But if he couldn't have her back at work, he was glad that she had gotten paired up with someone who would. That was all that mattered to him: that someone was watching her back.
He then let out a groan as she asked in a teasing voice if he wanted extra anchovies. "Not cool," he told her. She knows I hate anchovies, he thought to himself. But knowing her, she had probably wanted to get him smiling, so she had asked the question. Either that or she was trying to get his mind off of being sick. He wasn't complaining though. It had worked.

| W hen he mentioned that he could eat she nodded. Erin knew he wasn’t feeling that great but there wasn’t much she could do, other than take care of him. “I’m not really giving you an option. I was just being polite.” She teased as she played with his hair from a distance. She wanted to hug him and hold him and tell him everything would be okay but that was not the reality of the situation.
“Yeah well, it was more of a favor for the Severides. Even if it got me covered in beer.” Oops had that just slipped out. When he mentioned needing ice she smirked. “Oh I wish, I’d have loved to have gotten to throw a few punches.” Well in all fairness, the woman probably deserved it. Though Erin had been in uniform, it was unbecoming for her to just walk into Molly’s and punch the woman.
“It’s not Al I am worried about, I think Hank is trying to keep me on a tight leash after what happened in the bar tonight.” Though she was fairly certain Hank knew about it, she couldn’t be certain that was why she was partnered with All. Then again she knew that Hank liked someone keeping an eye on her in the unit. She’d just come to accept that over her years of working intelligence.
When he smiled she just smirked at his sentiment. “Well if it’s not cool then why are you smirking Romeo?” Her hand lightly ran down his shoulder. Erin just wanted the week to be over. Get things off her mind and have her partner back at work. Al was great and all but he wasn’t as fun and harassing him never went over well.

Jay chuckled as Erin said that she hadn't been giving him an option but being polite. "Oh, is that right?" he shot back. Little minx, he thought to himself. She was crazy as hell, but he loved her more than life itself. How'd I get so lucky? he wondered. Was it possible that he had gotten so lucky? He honestly didn't think so, but somehow he had. And there was no way that he was going to squander that.
He then nodded as she mentioned that the incident she had been in had been done as a favor to the Severides even if she had ended up getting covered in beer. "What? Why? What happened?" he demanded, his body tensing, his mind finally registering the fact that she had in fact smelled of beer when she had walked in. If he hadn't been sick, he would've picked up on it a lot sooner. Seeing this, Rinty placed his head on his lap and ran his fingers through the fur on the dog's head, forcing his body to relax even as his mind was racing. What had happened? Why had she been doused in beer? At her comment that she wished that she needed ice and would've loved to have thrown a few punches, he quirked a brow at his wife. "What exactly happened?" he wondered. This oughtta be interesting, he thought to himself. Not that Erin had tell him what had happened, of course, but he was hoping that she would.
He then rolled his eyes as she asked him why he was smirking if what she had just done wasn't cool, calling him Romeo. "You're nuts," he muttered. And I'm too sick too adequately banter with you, he thought to himself. Oh well. That'd come later, once he was feeling better.

| A ll Erin could do was nod at his question for a moment. It wasn’t until she had a smug smirk on her face that a light “yep” came from her. There was a pause. “Food is a necessity and I am not letting you get away without eating.” She replied as she ran a hand up the back of his head. She wanted to be affectionate but she knew he didn’t want to be wrapped up in hugs.
“It’s a really long story.” She started as she turned towards her husband. “It boils down to Brittany filed a restraining order for harassment against the Shay sister at fifty-one.” She sighed shaking her head. “Britt asked for a favor and I went to deliver the order myself. Shay wasn’t home, so I went to Molly’s and got a beer dumped on me.”
“I can’t say I am her biggest fan after meeting her. Pretty sure she’s taking some sort of drugs but I can’t prove that right now. You also know how I get when people mess with our people. But I was representing the department I couldn’t exactly haul off on a paramedic” Yes their people included the fire department, even if it was some new comer to the department.
“Well if I am nuts, that makes you Mr. Nuts” she replied back as she played with some of his hair. She reached for her phone and smiled some towards him. Dialing the Pizza place she gave them the order and then hung up the phone.

Jay's eyes flickered as Erin said that food was a necessity that she wasn't going to let him go without. "I could try some soup," he said. She was right of course. He just still didn't have much of an appetite. Hate being sick, he thought to himself. It always messed with his system, making him queasy whenever he tried to eat and just generally making him feel like crap. But Erin was right: he needed to eat. So that's what he was going to do: eat. Hopefully, it'd stay down. Not that he was holding his breath for this, but he could have a little bit of hope.
He then nodded as she said it was a long story that involved her doing a favor for the Severides and giving a restraining order to the Shay sister, that Britt had asked for a favor and after she had checked her home to deliver the order, she had gone to Molly's where she had gotten beer dumped on her. "Shay? As in...Leslie Shay? The paramedic they lost? She had a sister?" he queried. Did not know that, he thought to himself. "They okay? What'd she do?" he wondered.
He then nodded as she continued on, saying that she wasn't the woman's biggest fan and that she suspected that she was doing drugs, though she couldn't prove it, adding that he knew how protective she got over their people and that she couldn't haul off on the paramedic because she was representing the department. "Can you talk about it with me?" he asked. He wasn't on duty so she may have not been allowed to, he wasn't sure, and even if she could, he wasn't sure that she would. And that was okay. It wasn't like she had to. The question was just basically his way of offering a listening ear if she wanted it.
When she said that if she was nuts, it made him Mr. Nuts, he chuckled. "Would you have it any other way?" he asked, managing a grin.

| E rin nodded when he said he could try some soup. “What kind of soup?” She asked as she played with some of his hair. Erin hated when her husband was sick. She ran her hand over his thumb. Right now she wanted to cuddle up with him to make him feel better but she knew that he wasn’t Mr. cuddly when he was sick. Erin confirmed it was Leslie’s sister with a nod of her head. “Getting under Britt’s skin, it’s long and complicated. I was delivering a restraining order when everything happened. I just… left after I said what needed to be said.” Erin replied. “Of course I can discuss it with you. You are my partner in more ways than one. I just right now I don’t know what to say on the matter. Other than I was just doing my job, the rest just seems… there isn’t much left to say.” She leaned on the couch and looked towards him. There was lots to say but she didn't want to feel like it was right to unload on him when he was feeling sick. “I can still smell the beer though..” she wasn’t sure if the scent was still lingering or what was going on. Erin could only smirk at her husband as she shook her head. “Only way to accomplish that is to steal all my pillows at night.” She was teasing of course. There was no way she would have things any other way. Erin loved Jay and that is all there was to it.

When Erin asked him what kind of soup he felt like, Jay gave her a boyish grin. "Chicken noodle?" he asked as he leaned into her touch. What could he say? He liked the classics. And he was craving it. Hopefully, she wouldn't mind. At the same time, he was hoping that she wouldn't move as he liked what she was currently doing. It felt good.
His eyes then flickered as she nodded at his question, confirming that the woman they were talking about was Leslie Shay's sister, saying that the woman had been getting under Brittany's skin, that things were long and complicated, that she had been delivering the restraining order when the beer had been thrown on her, and that she had left after saying what had needed to be said. "Wish there was something I could do for you," he said. Hate not being able to have her back, he thought to himself. Yes, it was unavoidable seeing as how he was sick, but still...it rankled. He didn't like it and he wasn't ever going to like it.
When she assured him that they could discuss what had happened, saying that he was her partner in more ways than one, that she didn't know what to say, and that there wasn't anything left to say. "I just wasn't sure if it was on-going case. You wouldn't be able to talk about it with me since I wasn't there. Or maybe they asked you to keep things under wraps, not wanting to create a scene," he pointed out. After all, she wouldn't want to get in trouble. But then again, maybe it didn't really apply at the moment. He wasn't really sure. Everything was still a bit muddled, thanks to the fact that he didn't feel that great. When she complained that she still smelled like beer, he gave her a soft smile. "Why don't you go take a shower? That always helps you to feel better," he suggested. And from the sound of it, she needed it. Maybe I can join her, he thought to himself. No, not right now. He wasn't feeling great and he didn't want to make her sick or himself even sicker.
When she joked about him stealing her pillows, he shook his head. "Oh, no. I'm not that nuts," he responded. There was no way he was getting in between his wife and her pillows. It was just a bad idea all around.

| E rin nodded when he said Chicken Noodle. “I think I can make it from scratch. We have that leftover chicken from last night I can shred up.” She was just making conversation. She was sure there was a good bit of vegetables too. It wouldn’t take long and it was easy since the chicken was already cooked.
"You are here, and you are listening.” Erin pointed out as she continued to play with his hair. “That’s enough.” Erin chuckled when he told her to go take a shower. “I just got out of the shower. The smell is kind of lingering.” She made a face.
Erin chuckled when he said he wasn’t nuts enough to take her pillow. Well, that was a matter of opinion. Her husband was completely nuts. She just chuckled, no Erin took most of the pillows on the bed most nights. If he wasn’t home, even his were fair game.

Jay smiled at Erin as she said that they had some leftover chicken she could shred and turn into soup. "That sounds great," he commented. Truth was, he wasn't all that hungry, but he knew that he had to eat. And the fact that she was willing to cook for him when she had already had a long and hard day spoke volumes, in his opinion.
He then nodded as she assured him that him being there and listening was enough. "Okay," he said. He wasn't quite sure that he was doing everything he could for her, but to be honest, he didn't have the energy to argue about it.
When he told her that she had just taken a shower and that the smell was lingering, he gave her a sheepish smile. "Sorry. Of course you would shower. My brain's not firing on all cylinders right now," he apologized.
OOC Sorry this took so long and if this sucks. I kept getting distracted and losing the post.
