There was a reason that Hank had Erin and Sharon on his team and that was to save any more grey hair. If he knew where they were and what they were up to he could at least focus on his own things, it was when they were out of his sight that he worried like any parent. Still he smiled and nodded when Erin said okay, two of them there was no way she would win the argument but then he knew he would treat Nicky the same way as any of his daughters. She was about to find out what Voight surveillance was.
Hank couldnt imagine being anything other than a cop and when one was killed there was no denying it made him think about his career choice. It was a calculated risk and one he was willing to take again and again if it helped the people of the city or the cop standing next to him. Sure he could take a desk job or take early retirement but where was the fun in that. He could still walk and run about, maybe not as greatly as a the twenty year old cop but he could still make some smart moves if he had to.
It was a day where anger, yelling and snapping was understandable on all levels and he wasn’t about to say a thing to Nicky about it. Hank smiled a little and shook his head at Erin’s apologetic look, there wasn’t anything to apologise for it was just venting and if he was the person she snapped at then so be it. It was one of those things. Hank listened to Nicky say she was going to tell the rest of her family and he could only imagine their reactions, he wasn’t sure being cops that they would take the same stance as Erin but she was the only female grandchild in the family so he knew it could go either way.
“Don’t push it Nicky.” Hank warned with a slight smile, “We don’t want to play all our cards at once here.” So he was egging her on a little but then he was sure it was likely to be the last thing they would agree on. When she said he was weird he gave her a puzzled look. “Weird, yeah I’m not that just ask your mum before I switch my vote back to her side on this. No calling superior officers weird when they’re in earshot.” He joked lightly wanting to get along with Nicky as much as the next person.
Hank wrapped his arm around Erin when she reached out and pulled him toward her. She knew he would look after Nicky like she was Sharon or Erin. Even if the kid hated it he would make sure she was kept safe though he understood if it built Nicky up to think he needed to be looked out for then he wasn’t going to stop Erin. Hank listened to the list of things Nicky wanted as he looked to erin, “I cant agree to anything that you just said, but I can say I’ll do my best to keep out of your way.” He offered hoping that it would be enough for her.
Pulling strings, yes he’d do that and annoying her well he hoped he wouldnt but then it was what he did best for people and embarrassing her. Parent that came with the territory. Though he wanted to hear what Erin had to say about it as he knew with her last name it wasn’t going to be an easy ride from the start.
