Devon walked into the bar and went to sit at one of the tables in the back. He was not in the mood for company. It had been a long day and he was tired. Oh the day hadn't been particularly bad, but it had been long, hence him being tired. But at least he was being smart and staying in the shadows. If someone came by, he'd just order a beer. Yeah, that sounded good.
His eyes flickered as he looked around. Good crowd tonight, he thought to himself. He wasn't home as much as he'd like because of his job, but when he was, he did like the nightlife. Well, the responsible night life anyways. And for him, that meant a couple of drinks and then going home. There was no way he'd let himself turn into his mother. Yeah, not happening.

[attr="class","de1"] Vanessa was at the bar just to be out. No drinking involved, that was because anytime she tried Martin would take her drink away. Finally, she just gave up. Though she caught sight of Devon in the back. Vanessa being Vanessa had to go and find out what was bugging him. Though she managed to grab a beer from the bar before heading over there. Vanessa hated beer, so Martin put two and two together. Vanessa was thankful for that at least.
Sliding into the seat across from Devon she gave him a gentle smile. "Hide back here long enough you are going to give the dust bunnies the heevie jeevies" she teased lightly. Vanessa was just a friendly persona. Always tried to cheer people up and cracked jokes at the worst time. But it was all worth it if she could manage to get a good friend to smile.

As he looked around, he noticed Vanessa walking up to him and smiled as she approached. "Hey," he greeted and then chuckled as she stated that if he hid in the back long enough, he'd give the dust bunnies the heebie jeebies. "Well, what can I say? It's been a long day," he commented as he took the beer. "Thanks," he responded, opening it and taking a swig. Just what I needed, he thought to himself. Vanessa always knew what he needed and he loved that about her.
He then leaned back a bit and smiled at her. "What brings you here?" he asked. "I mean...if you don't mind me asking," he hastened to add. For all he knew, she wasn't in a talking mood either and the last thing he wanted to do was piss her off.

[attr="class","de1"] Devon was like the sibling she never had when it came to growing up. “Long day is code for not wanting to talk about it” she called him out on it but she didn’t push him to talk. That wasn’t Vanessa. Though she was anyone’s ear who needed to get something off their chest. She glanced down at her phone. Evan was still not here and it was getting late. She thought about picking up the phone and calling someone. No. She was just being paranoid, she would give him a little while longer.
What was she doing here? “Waiting on my boyfriend to stop standing me up. He’s late. He’s never late” She mused out. One thing Evan was… punctual. If he said he was going to show, then he showed. Staring into her water glass, she tried to stop thinking the worst had happened. No. Something had to have happened. He was not late.

When she said that "long day" was code for not wanting to talk, he shrugged. "Or that today was a bitch and I'm tired," he responded. Really, it could go either way. Not that he minded talking with her, but sometimes he needed space to deal with things. Thankfully, she seemed to know that about him. And today was one of his "Need to process" days, so even though he may not talk about things just yet, he could probably be persuaded to talk soon.
He then nodded as she said that she was waiting for her boyfriend, his eyes clouding with concern as she said that he was late and he was usually never late. "Stupid question, but have you tried calling him or any of his friends?" he asked. This doesn't sound good, he thought to himself. He wasn't sure why, but something was telling him that they needed to treat this like something was wrong. What could he say? He just had a really bad feeling all of a sudden...

Vanessa had called Teresa earlier because she was worried. Now she was even more worried as Devon suggested calling some people. Vanessa nodded. "Yeah. Um.." Her phone started ringing. Vanessa got up and gave Devon a hug. "I gotta take this I um.. it's CPD" she pulled a few strings to get them to look into a missing persons report well before the 24 hours. It was nice to have friends pull strings. Moving up from the table Martin and Maxwell followed Vanessa out. That was when Teresa came in, she greeted her dad and Vanessa as they left. It was more of a quick hug because she knew Vanessa was on the phone. Ah right, Vanessa had mentioned that Devon was here. Teresa ordered a Apple Martini and slid in across from him. "A little birdie told me I'd find you here" Teresa stated with a smile. Vanessa and Teresa both knew even if Devon didn't want to talk, they weren't going to leave him to sit by himself and drink tonight.

Devon was about to say more when Vanessa's phone rang and she gave him a hug, saying that she had to take the call as it was the police department. "All good," he said with a smile. She's amazing when she works, he thought to himself. And she really was. He wasn't sure what he'd do without her friendship.
He then turned as footsteps approached and smiled when he saw Vanessa. "Hey," he greeted, smiling as she said that she had been told that she'd find him here. "Yeah. It's just been a long day. No particular reason. It was just...long," he replied. "I figured I'd have a couple of drinks and then call a cab to take me home," he told her. See? He was response.

Teresa was not the type to let her friends spend the nights by themselves when they were feeling down on themselves. "Pretty sure the FBI won't let you tell me about it; but is there anything I can do to help?" she mused as she lightly kicked his leg from under the table. Teresa had NO issues being flirty or forward with anyone. All of those in their group of friends knew that Teresa was the type to throw parties just for the hell of it.
"You could always share my cab" she offered. They lived in total opposite directions but that was definitely an invitation for him to join her at her place that evening. She sipped on her drink. Though she was trying not to come off as pushy, there was a genuine concern. Teresa was just.. a little more forward than most. Drunk Teresa was even a little more forward, but she had a high alcohol tolerance.

When Teresa asked him if there was anything she could do even though he probably couldn't tell her about anything he was working on, Devon smiled. "Stay and just talk awhile?" he queried. Yeah, he was feeling like he could use some company, so why not have it be someone he was sort of into? Not that she knew this, because if she did, she'd probably either laugh in his face or start avoiding him, neither of which was an appealing option. So yeah, keeping silent about that little fact. Still, he could take advantage of her presence here and spend some quality time with her. Wow. She'd probably think i'm pretty pathetic if she knew what I was thinking, he mused to himself. But of course she wouldn't know, because though she had a lot of talents, he was pretty sure that mind-reading wasn't one of them. Which was a good thing for him. Okay, maybe he needed to cut himself off. He had stopped making sense.
When she said they could always share a cab, he smiled at her. "You wouldn't mind?" he asked. Okay, stupid question since she had just made the offer, but to be perfectly honest, it had surprised him. "Sure, that sounds good," he said. And it did. It'd give him more time to spend with her. Well, in theory, anyway.

"And enjoy this cute face?" She replied back with a smirk on her face. "You bet" it was well known that Teresa was very flirtatious and by far the most forward of the group. Teresa was tenacious in many ways, and well going after men was... a habit of hers. Though she usually got what she wanted. Then again she found all the wrong men who fell into a bed with her and then left. Though with her approach it wasn't surprising.
"If I minded, I wouldn't have made the offer" she replied showing him the flaw in his logic as she took a sip of her drink. Though she couldn't help but smirk at him over her drink. What could she say? He was good looking and alluring. That and he was smart. Though she hadn't said or done much other than flirt a bit because he was a friend and she was the wrecker of relationships.

Devon chuckled as Vanessa talked about enjoying her cute face. "Yeah, that too," he agreed. Okay, so he was flirting a bit. Could anyone blame him? Hopefully she wouldn't. He just couldn't help it. It came naturally to him. Of course, if she shut him down, he'd leave it at that. He wasn't one of those guys who forced things and he never would be. But from what he could tell, she was receptive to the banter, so he was probably safe in that regard, which was a relief. Not that he would say this out loud as he didn't want to scare her off.
When she reminded him that she wouldn't have made the offer if she had minded, he shrugged. "Just checking," he said. Hey, one never knew and he didn't want to misread signals. It had happened before and it had ended up being awkward all around. So yeah not really looking forward to repeating that mistake...

Teresa shook her head before coming over to the other side of the table "I should sit on you for that" she fake threatened. Though Teresa worked hard at her appearance and she wasn't about to turn down his agreement to the statement. She lightly poked him in the side. "I'm a bit bolder than I look Devon" she reminded him.
"I say what I mean but I also mean what I say." She surmised. There was a smile on her face as she plopped down right beside him. Though she had this sinister smirk on her face that meant she was totally up to something as she elbowed him light in the shoulder. Teresa was always full of herself and was a very high energy person. That wasn't about to change anytime soon.

Devon laughed as Teresa walked up to him, stating that she should sit on him for his statement, adding that she was bolder than she looked as she poked him, rolling his eyes in amusement at her actions. "I don't doubt it," he stated. And to be honest, that intrigued him. Though, he had a feeling that she probably wouldn't appreciate it if he said this. Then again, he wasn't sure that he cared. He was just here to veg and drink for a while before going home.
He then grinned as she sat down next to him, saying that she said what she meant and meant what she said. "So what I see is what I get. I like that in a woman," he commented. Okay, he should probably tone down the sass as it had sounded like he was flirting with her and he was pretty sure that was the last thing she wanted. Okay, he needed to stop thinking about this. Just focus on the drinking. Yeah, that'd work.

Teresa smirked as he said he liked his women a certain way. Teresa had a think for falling for all of the wrong men, it was inevitable. But she was also very forward and what Teresa wanted she got. Reaching over she pinned him to the corner of the table locking lips with him. Teresa was drawn to men who knew exactly what they wanted in a woman.
The woman wasn’t so sure that she cared if this was a good idea or not. They had been friends for a while. Grabbing his hand as she pulled her lips off of his she smiled tugging on his hand lightly. “Come on, let’s get out of here.” She offered.
