Bleep. Bleep. Bleep. Oh that sound was grating on her every nerve. Ziva reached to move her hand and could only hear the beeping of the hospital room she was in. Opening her eyes, everything was a little blurry. “Esau? Josiah?” She rasped in a tone that suggested one of them was the one in the hospital, rather than her. It took her a moment to realize she was the one laying on the hospital bed. What happened? Ziva didn’t remember much of anything, other than Josiah had been threatened and Esau was a target.
Where were they? Ziva’s monitor spiked as her heart raced. “Ahavat.” The term of endearment left her lips but it was strained. Ziva hardly ever called for everyone. Her head was pounding and she was trying to put all the pieces together. “What happened?” She was going with the slightly less obvious, she had already managed to gather she was in the hospital.
When the nurses came in and started checking on her, she had little choice in the matter but just let them do their job. She gave her name and all the other information they wanted. When the nurse left she leaned back and just sighed.

[attr="class","esaunah"] [attr="class","esauleft"] [attr="class","esauleft2"] | [attr="class","esauright"] Esau tended to be more open with his emotions than Ziva, but the anger had burned out almost a week ago now. The ashes still smoldered – a fire that hadn't quite yet died – but with nowhere to direct his fury, Esau had slipped into stone cold silence. It was easier that way. Less talking to Josh or James required. "You were kidnapped. Those men are no longer a threat. I dealt with them." Obvious, perhaps, since both of them were in the same hospital room together. If his wife and son were still in danger, Esau wouldn't have stopped hunting, wouldn't have stopped being a highly trained weapon – the benefits of being former Israeli Special Forces. You couldn't just turn off the lethal setting, no matter how much you tried. It was always ingrained in you. No, Esau corrected himself; his earlier statement unfair. It hadn't just been him. The rest of the team had stepped in – unwilling to let their teammate, their friend, go into a bad situation alone. "HRT dealt with them."Esau had been riveted to the clock while Ziva was in a medically induced coma – counting seconds, minutes, hours. Now that Ziva was awake, he found himself checking the time again. "It's getting late. Josiah is safe with Efrat. She flew in from Israel when… She flew in." Esau suspected, at least in part to keep an eye on him, but also to help look after things. Ziva Sokolov [attr="class","esauright2"] |

Ziva was at best trying to put the pieces together. “Saleem?” No Saleem was dead. He’d taken her in Somalia and paid with his life. Gibbs had put a bullet between his eyes. Ziva took a shallow breath. It still hurt to breathe. She’d been put in a medically induced coma to let her body heal.
“HRT? Confused. HRT wouldn’t kidnap…” Now she was trying to figure out what was going on. She’d taken his statement to mean that he’d dealt with HRT for kidnapping her. Though when he said that Josiah was safe with Efrat, she didn’t argue with that. Though she did start arguing to see them both. “Take me home so I can see them?” Ziva just wanted to see Josiah and Esau and be out of here, though it was hardly going to happen the whole getting out thing.
The only family she had left was her two boys and Esau’s family. Ziva’s arms reached for Esau. It was rare Ziva asked to be held, and even rarer that her body language spoke for her rather than her just doing what she wanted. Deep down she needed to feel safe, but she wasn’t about to vocalize the fact that she was feeling vulnerable. Accompanying her lack of words was the hidden emotions. Her face was blank and voice monotone. The playful side of Ziva was not yet awake from the coma.

[attr="class","esaunah"] [attr="class","esauleft"] [attr="class","esauleft2"] | [attr="class","esauright"] Ziva was confused. That much was understandable. Just waking up from a medically induced coma could do that to a person. Esau would be patient with her – answer her questions where he could. Something, he needed to step in and do now, as she seemed to be under the impression that HRT had kidnapped her. Esau shook his head, trying to resolve her confusion. Perhaps it was better that he fill in the gaps. "What exactly do you remember, Ziva?"
Esau had to stop Ziva before she got carried away. "No," he stated firmly. This was a point he wouldn't budge on, no matter how much objecting Ziva did from the hospital bed. The unfortunate side effect of his work meant Esau was no stranger to hospitals himself. He knew just how uncomfortable they could be – how much the desire to return home could slowly eat at you. It was only a matter of time before Ziva became frustrated, but Esau only wanted what was best for her. "You need to stay here until your doctors say otherwise. Efrat and Josiah can visit tomorrow."When Ziva reached out for him, Esau froze. Uncertain what to say, or do, he initially kept his distance. "I'm sorry." Not normally in the habit of making apologies, Esau found himself apologizing. Words would never be enough, but those men had targeted Ziva to get at him. Everything she had endured had been because of him. "This is my fault." Ziva Sokolov [attr="class","esauright2"] |

Looking towards Esau, Ziva y awned. Honestly, she was exhausted. “I only remember pieces. Calling you on the phone. The duplications of Somalia, and the smell.” Very few people know about Somalia and what she had gone through. Whoever this had been? They knew too much. Ziva was just closing her eyes when Esau put his foot down.
Then he backed away from her. Rolling over onto her side she faced the wall. No, he couldn’t have been involved in this. Her mind had more questions than answers and he wasn’t exactly open to letting her emotions have an outlet. Ziva’s window of emotional outlet was usual very small. If he wanted to be an overprotective jerk, then he could do so while she slept.
No, she was too tired to fight with him. There wasn’t enough energy to expend on it. With her head facing the wall she lulled into a sleep, though undoubtedly fueled by the effects of drugs and feeling emotionally spent. If he didn’t want to listen, then she didn’t think talking would make it worthwhile. Soon she was breathing normal and asleep under Esau’s watchful eye.
