0600 Intelligence HQ 21st Precinct Erin and Sharon were arguing. AGAIN. The girls didn't always get along but they didn't always fight. At least not in the middle of the squad room. They usually kept their fights to their text messages. "Are you insane Sharon??? He's YOUR partner!" she stated as she looked down at the assignments for the day. Sharon narrowed his eyes. "I'd get him killed Erin! I don't trust me with him. This is a team." She didn't like the assigment as much as the next person. What had gotten into Erin. "I'm engaged Sharon!" That wasn't true Erin was married, just the only one who knew better was Jay. Sharon narrowed her eyes. "Newsflash Erin. So am I! Thomas will rip his head off. Jay's part of this team, he would get it. No way in HELL could I convince Thomas this operation was okay. I'm protecting my partner by doing what I feel is the right move here Erin. End of story." Sharon went back to her desk and slammed the drawer shut. Yeah she wasn't even in charge of the assignments but they had their assignments for a reason. All of the research and planning that had gone into this. It wasn't her fault that their skills were needed elsewhere. Erin was much more believable undercover than Sharon, and Sharon needed to relay what was going on in the background. Atwater looked down at his paperwork. "Looks like Burgess you are with me" Even if it was backup it would be nice to partnered with his old partner for a change. There were days he wanted to throw the new guy in the sink. So clueless, and clearly why Rixton hadn't been invited into this op. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Six A.M. is most definitely not her favorite time of day, especially following a night where she found it so hard to sleep, so Kim’s solidly into her second extra-large cup of coffee and more than a little hyped up on caffeine by the time she hears the sister’s fighting about assignments. She makes the conscious decision to steer clear of that argument and make sure that she’s ready to go and do her job whatever that may be for the day.
As soon as Atwater says that she’s with him as back up, Kim’s smiling and standing starting to gear up and get everything ready to go. Voight’s not going to accuse her of holding anything up today. Looking at Atwater she fist bumps him “Yeah….great, best partners ever…reunited!” Seems that she’s the only female not complaining about her assignment or partner for the day, in fact she’s actually pretty happy about it. She likes working with Atwater, and they work well together. She much prefers him over Al anyday, not that Al is a bad guy, but at least she knows that Atwater trusts her and she trusts him.

Six in the morning and life was biting back. Late finish, early start Hank wasn’t sure when he had last stopped drinking coffee or how many hours sleep he had. He had managed to stay in his office that night after calling Lou to let her know what was happening. He was showered and a change of clothes by five thirty before he had laid down on his couch to get that extra half our of shut eye when the voices disturbed him. If he wasn’t mistaken he knew those voices and they were giving him a headache as he rolled off the couch in his office.
He was hearing words and not sentences as he wiped the sleep from his eyes and took a drink of coffee before he leaned against the door to his office and looked between them. ‘Insane, killed, engaged, protecting’ what was this word association between the two of them as he glared. “What the hell is going on here?” He asked though his voice took a more bellowing tone to it as he stood up straight and took another drink of his coffee. It was cold but then when did he ever get to have a hot one as he looked between each of his daughters.
“First one to explain in your ‘inside voices’ gets to be on my good side for the day.” He stated deciding that someone had better fill him in on who was insane, who was getting killed an why being engaged had anything to do with the CPD. “Why is it that at 6am, Atwater and Burgess are the reasonable ones here today?” Hank asked as he tried not to pull the rank card, for work he wasn’t above pulling the rank card on the two of them as he looked at the assignments sheets. Erin and Braden on undercover assignment well that made sense he thought as he waited to be filled in on the issue.

[attr="class","bradennah"] [attr="class","bradenleft"] [attr="class","bradenleft2"] | [attr="class","bradenright"] Braden sat on the edge of his desk. Sharon and Erin were in the middle of an argument about how the assignments for this undercover operation had been divvied up, but it seemed like there was more to it than just that. At least the entire team wasn't being completely unreasonable—and he counted himself in that category with Burgess and Atwater. He folded his arms across his chest. How much longer would they go on talking about him like he wasn't in the same squad room? "Hey, uh… you know I'm right here?"Hank stumbled out of his office with a cup of coffee in hand, demanding to know what was going on. Yeah, Braden still wasn't quite sure he knew that, and he'd been watching the two detectives go back and forth for a while now. They had been discussing their respective engagements to Thomas and Jay, as if that were somehow going to change what needed to be done. "If we want to discuss our relationship status, need I remind both of you that I'm married? But we have a job to do." For Braden that meant posing as a Stefano Moretti, a white collar criminal with ties to the Italian mafia. Erin had been tapped to play the role of his wife. Braden knew this wasn't an ideal situation… for any of them. It might even border on downright awkward. Considering some of the personalities involved here, maybe even lethal. Wonderful. If only he wasn't so good at things like forging signatures… then they might not be in this position to begin with. "So Thomas will kill me. Jay might not kill me. I guess I'll take the five percent survival odds on this one. Assuming you're up for this, Erin?" One positive to come out of this: it reinforced the need for some additional training around here. "I think I need to start teaching you guys some of my less… reputable skills." Maybe they could prevent this kind of mess in the future. If Braden had a future to look forward to. Six AM. For most people, that would be way too early, but Jay was used to getting up at four. What could he say? Old habits died hard. And so, while everyone else probably looked like they were still ready for bed, he had already had a couple cups of coffee, half of his morning run (which he would so be making up later), and was pretty much ready to go.
As he headed into the bullpen, he became aware of arguing and he let out a sigh. Erin and Sharon were at it again. Should do an about face, he thought to himself. When those two went at it, nothing and no one was safe, which meant that he was better off making himself scarce. He then scoffed inwardly. Here he was, an ex Ranger who had faced down insurgents and terrorists, and he was afraid of a cat fight? Wonderful. People would have a field day with that...

Erin just rolled her eyes. There went Hank again treating them like they were two. Shoving her bag at the foot of her desk she went silent. She was not going to answer that attitude. Sharon however decided to voice her opinion on the matter. "Just someone deciding UC covers for this team without consulting the team." She wasn't going to get into the rest of the why they were going at each other's throats as she went back to her own desk. "I'd rather NOT piss off the feds today" she stated sarcastically. Thomas did this kind of work all the time. Of all the people in her life he would probably understand the most. But that didn't ease the thought any. Their trust was... thin even if it was there. It was something they had built from literally nothing and now Erin was trying to get some UC operation could blow it out of the water. Not to mention Rachel probably already hated her guts. Partnering with Braden on this was just a bad idea. "Sharon" she heard her sister from across the desks. Sharon just glared at her. "Don't talk to me" she fired back bitterly. The girls were usually always fighting when things went sideways. It's just what they did. Sharon's attentions moved to her sister's partner. "Jay's right there Erin." She pointed at Jay. "I'm pretty sure he gets it." Okay so maybe she was going a little overboard as she started pacing behind her desk. So she had kept her voice down but she was still not so thrilled with the situation and it sat in her tone. Sharon moved to look at Braden. "Yes let's just add your wife wanting to kill me some more. All the more reason to go with Erin" she fired off at Braden. So she wasn't mad at him but Sharon was very much a loaded gun when something was wrong. Though she saw the look on Erin's face as the other woman rolled her eyes and looked to Jay. Erin was pretty much ignoring Braden and Sharon by this point in time. Erin handed her husband the UC cover she had on her desk. Just because she was the only female on the team who could keep a poker face. No offense to Burgess and Voight but the girls were a lot less experienced than Erin. "I don't even speak Italian" she defended herself to Jay. Right, if ever there was a time to feel like this mission was likely to get someone killed. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Kim leaned back on the desk next to Atwater and watched the fight between the sisters play out, while Atwater had described them to her before this was the first one she'd gotten to witness first hand. Kim didn't feel offended in the slightest that she hadn't been considered to go under, she needed more experience before she'd even trust herself with something like this so there was no way she'd expect anyone else to trust her yet. She knew better than to get involved, but this was getting ridiculous why was anyone's relationship status even being brought up. She sympathized with both Erin and Sharon because she understood nobody wanted to make their significant others mad, but this was part of the job and they'd all known that this was a possibility. All that, this arguing was accomplishing was making her tense and uneasy about the assignment before it even got started. Kim glanced over at Atwater to see if she should consider saying something and had opened her mouth to do just that when she caught him shake his head, so what she was going to say simply came out sounding like a strangled cough. She leaned back and crossed her arms over her chest and sighed. Patience was not her strong suit and as far as she was concerned the fight although entertaining had gone on long enough, they had a job to do. Kim trusted that soon enough someone would reign in the sisters so that they could actually be briefed on the case and find out what the job was all about. Yeah she had the paper in her hand, but there was always more to a case than what a scrap of paper could tell you. She smiled at Braden's suggestion of more training for everyone, she was definitely up for more training especially if it was going to help her be better at her job. Adam sighed as he trudged into bullpen. Six in the morning. Why the hell were they here at six in the freaking morning? Okay, yes, he was grumpy. He could admit that. But he hadn't even gotten his coffee yet. Hopefully, someone would have some. He needed it. Of course, with his luck, there wouldn't be anytime for it. He gave himself a mental shake and glanced at Erin and Sharon who were arguing. It's like watching Greetings From Tucson, he thought to himself, remembering the sitcom he had watched when he was younger. It had been a good series. However, it had been cancelled shortly after one of the stars had died in a plane crash. Which, yeah, he understood, but it still sucked. Okay, back to real life. He glanced at Kim. "How long have they been goin' at it?" he wondered. OOC Show I referenced: www.imdb.com/title/tt0313090/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Hank looked toward Braden when the mention of relationships was brought up, really was this what the argument was over? Reason number one never to date or be engaged to anyone in the unit was simply that, it was far too much hassle to get his head around at six in the morning when all he wanted to do was wake up to peaceful office. “We are all aware that a cover is just that, a cover ID not the actual person right?” Hank said as he took a sip of his coffee wondering if the entire conversation was about to go right back to the academy days.
He half wished he could just step right back into his office and act as if it hadn’t ever happened. Pull his blanket over his head and just imagine that they were all getting along fine outside the glass confines of his little world. He caught something about speaking Italian which made more sense for Sharon to take it given that she was fluent in Italian. Why was it that every time he got involved in something the two girls were arguing as he glared at them both of a moment.
“Okay, training... let’s hear it. What exactly is going on with the UC?” He asked them glaring around the room, “Sharon you speak Italian, Erin you’ve got more experience. Jay, Braden? Lay this out in plain old English for me.” Hank decided it was better to stick with the two guys on this, at least he might be able to glare some sense out of those two he thought as he glanced at Burgess and Ruzek. “You two, first one to lay all this out for me get’s a day off signed by me.” He stated, for one Hank wasnt a fan of the feds.
Two anything they were involved it was sure to be a chaotic day and putting his two girls in the middle of that mess. Yes he wasnt Voight the father he was Voight the Sergeant. He was getting a headache just thinking about what was being asked but there was enough cross overs to know that the spouses were likely to be unhappy but then it was what they did. You couldnt stop being a cop just because the other half didnt approve of the assignment that day or partner roster.
Second to that was the simple fact that cover ID’s played to people’s strengths for a reason and that meant that whoever had it. There was going to be a pretty decent reason for it as he took another sip of coffee and waited to hear the in’s and out’s of what had everyone awake this early and arguing too. Highly annoying he thought but then again there was nothing like another case to get into while the two sisters argued over their issues for the day. He wasnt running a day care though he couldnt argue much against it given that everyone seemed to arguing like they were three.

[attr="class","bradennah"] [attr="class","bradenleft"] [attr="class","bradenleft2"] | [attr="class","bradenright"] Braden sighed, watching as the situation didn't resolve itself. He tended to be pretty level-headed, a voice of reason, even in the interoffice drama that could sometimes pop up. He glanced at Jay before turning back to Hank. No way would Braden dream of telling the boss how to do his job, but laying out the facts? That he could do. Braden responded with a shrug. "Seems straightforward enough. We've got ourselves a who's who of the Italian mafia here in Chicago. Sharon may speak Italian, but poker face? It'd be a hard sell. Erin has the experience, but doesn't speak Italian—apparently." The implication was clear, if it were up to Braden, but you didn't have to be in the field to translate for your team. Which left the other half of the undercover couple. At least he and Jay weren't sniping back and forth at each other to determine which one of them was more qualified for the op. Braden had talents… if you could call them such, that he had picked up throughout the years, but the two men—well, three, if you counted Hank—could have a reasonable discussion to determine which detective gave them the best chance of succeeding. Braden continued to address his boss. "As you know, I'm something of an expert when it comes to forging signatures, among certain other skills." Skills that, while not entirely reputable or legal, depending upon how they were used, made him uniquely suited to working undercover cases—to infiltrating a criminal organization. "And Jay…" Braden knew the man could handle himself—his military training testified to that, but this undercover operation required more than that. He shot another glance in Jay's direction. "Well… how much do you know about bond forgery? How good are you at forging signatures? If your life depended on it, could you fake my signature right now?"That was the situation—they all brought different skills to the table. If they weren't all on the same page, this would never work. Maybe Hank could put the assignments to rest—for good. Henry 'Hank' Voight , Sharon "Cher" Voight , @kimburgess , @jayhalstead , @adamruzek [attr="class","bradenright2"] |

Trust wasn't exactly doing any favors for Sharon right about now. Walking away from Erin's desk had been easier but that didn't mean Sharon hadn't rethought the entire situation. She took her badge off her hip and shoved it in her desk drawer. "Give me that. I'll go." Yes, she'd changed her mind but she also realized that she needed to be able to have her partners back. Erin held her tongue and handed her the paper. Sharon took it from her and sat down reading over it. She took a heavy sigh. Erin and Sharon could take their debate up later. Sharon swallowed down the lump in her throat. This was bound to go so well. Though she knew there had to be a time she needed to step up and be a part of the unit, and frankly, Sharon didn't think she'd been doing that swell of a job in that department lately. Sharon heard her dad's voice and cringed after closing her eyes. Sharon mumbled something in Italian under her breath and focused on the assignment in front of her. Unless Hank pulled rank, she was going. End of story. Once Sharon got a bone there was no letting go of it. Then again she also knew how Rachel felt about Sharon and it all came tumbling at her. No, dammit she was going to prove to herself and the unit that she could do this. Looking towards Hank. "I got it handled Sarge. I'll go." Sharon's attention went back to the paper in front of her. Hearing Braden mention mafia connections her face paled. No one knew about her former history. No one but Hank. Sharon went rummaging through her desk and pulled out a box of black hair dye. If anything her red tinted tones were a dead give away. Erin was glad to pawn off the assignment on Sharon. It was unlike her to turn something down, but that was a debate for a later date. "Sharon, you know this isn't your decision right?" She fired off. Sharon held her tongue this time but the resentment was there on her face. Erin was trying to get her worked up again. No. She'd just taken on what her sister didn't want to take up and made a commitment and then settled herself down while trying to come to grips with it. Sharon just wanted today to be over. Kim smiled as she watched Adam trudge up the steps, and smirked when he asked her how long the sisters had been going at it. She shrugged her shoulders as she handed him the rest of her coffee, looked like he needed it worse than she did this morning. "Since I got here... probably longer." She answered under her breath. Kim snapped her focus back to Voight when he spoke to her and Adam, but remained silent. She knew better than to throw her two cents in on this mess. She was thankful when Braden spoke up and did a good job of explaining things so that she didn't have to and when he finished, Kim nodded. When Sharon changed her mind and decided to take the assignment after all, Kim cocked her head to the side and raised a brow. This was an interesting development, and if it wasn't so dang early in the morning she might be laughing at the absurdness of a bunch of adults arguing like children over undercover assignments. They were supposed to be the best of the best and they were reduced to this. Kim leaned back against the desk and crossed her arms back over her chest and continued to watch things unfold around her. She just wished that someone would make a final decision so they could get on with this case already. If things kept on like they were they'd be lucky to be ready to go by six pm. Since her assignment was unlikely to change she quickly lost interest in what was going on between father and daughters. She was ready to head out whenever the order was given. Kim turned her attention back to Adam and Atwater quickly calling shotgun under her breath, because the last thing she wanted was to be trapped in the back seat of a car all day long or spend all day driving the both of them around. Adam frowned as he listened to what was going on. This sounded like a mess. He didn't like it when cases were messy like this. Not that they were ever neat, but still. It gave him the heebie-jeebies when things got overly complicated. Heebie-jeebies? Okay, that's it. No more Boy Meets World before going to bed.
When they got their assignments, Adam nodded and quickly followed Kim out of there. He had no idea what was going on between Sharon and Erin and to be honest, he didn't particularly care. It wasn't any of his business, but he knew that he didn't want to get stuck in the middle of it. So yeah, he was hoofing it out of there.
--------------- Jay's eyes clouded as he listened to the discussion, turning to Voight when he asked him to put it in plain English for him. "Maybe they could work it from different angles? Sharon can work infiltration since she speaks the language and Erin can work a different role," he said. And I can beat feet, yes he was wanting to get the hell out of here while the going was good. He wasn't stupid enough to get in the middle of a fight between Erin and Sharon. No, this was when a tactical retreat was well advised....
