It had been a longish day and with it being a Friday Jackson had ventured out into the world. His usual pub was packed with some random singer making an appearance so he had shuffled himself off to the next best place. He hadn’t ever thought about a best place but then as he wondered into the Violet Hour, it had a bar and after settling himself alight at work for experimental purposes he decided that a drink was in order to calm down.
He took a seat at the mildly busy bar, placing his order for the coldest beer they had as he turned slightly to watched the seventies tribute act sing and dance on the stage. He had no idea who they were supposed to be but he imagined after a few beers it would be anyone’s guess as to the decade and the tribute. He was simply happy enough to have some time to himself to work out the days events.
When the barman left his drink JJ took a quick sip as he glanced around the bar for any familiar faces. There were the usual faces, the after work goers who he had seen maybe twice in his time there. The regulars who knew the table they liked, the drinks they wanted and so on where as he had simply wondered in off the street simply looking to relax after a long eventful day.

After the shift she had at work, all Chloe wanted to do was sit down on her sofa in yoga pants and eat ice cream. However; since she had no house...and no sofa, and somehow curling up in the hotel bed just didn't have the same effect she decided to find somewhere to have a drink or five. Everyone from the firehouse had mentioned Molly's, Chloe had driven by there and in the end she decided she really just wanted to go and relax where she didn't know anyone. Somewhere preferably close to her hotel.
Chloe headed back towards her hotel and spotted what appeared to be a nice bar just across the street, and it's name was Violet Hour. 'well purple IS my favorite color' she thought to herself as she parked in the hotel parking lot. Deciding that she really didn't feel like drinking in her work uniform she headed up to her room to find something cute to wear.
Sighing as she entered the room again wishing for her own house and a nice comfortable sofa with a large screen TV she sets about searching her bags for something to wear. Finding her favorite pair of jeans and a fuchsia top she slips into them and a pair of black booties before stepping in front of the mirror to survey the damage from an extremely long shift. Sighing again she simply decides to make her messy bun a little less messy, reapply her mascara, and put on a coat of lip gloss. Grabbing her purse she heads out the door.
Stepping off of the elevator and into the hotel lobby she exchanges small talk with some of the employees she's starting to recognize and walks across the street. Entering the bar she hears something kind of awful coming from the stage and notices that most of the seats are taken. She slowly walks up to the bar and leans against it trying unsuccessfully to get the bartenders attention. Looking around she sees a nice looking guy sitting next to her with a beer in hand. "So..uh..what's the secret to getting a drink around here?

JJ had thrown on a pair of dark jeans, the first ironed shirt his hand came across which happened to be a dark grey with black strips and a waist coat that was black. Nothing too fancy as really the most comfortable clothes he owned were his combat pants that he wore to work every single day he could. His work wardrobe was far bigger than his outside wardrobe but then he spent most of his time at work so it made sense to him for some reason. He had never been a guy that dressed for style unless it was required for something.
No he was the roll out and hope it all goes well kind. That night he had tried to make an effort, effort in his head was ironed stuff though he was happy enough to simply sit at the bar and hope that a beer made the music bearable. It was just nice to be able to get out and be some place different for a change, even if it was for one night to actually have time to do something different that didnt involve a microwave dinner or tinkering at work for hours on end.
Not that he didnt enjoy it but there came a point where more company than scrap metal was good for a person. Even if it involved a bar tender and a beer. JJ kept his glanced around the place when he saw a woman walk slowly up to the bar and lean against it. He kept his eyes glancing around for a while before seeing her failing to get the bar tenders attention. He smiled when she spoke and grinned as he raised his beer so the bartender could see. “Another one please and something for the lady.” He said as he motioned toward her before he sat back down.
“The secret is all in the code word.” He joked before he shook his head, “Just wave and shout loudly like you’re the only one here.” He said though really he just knew the guy from his previous visits, once you got the hang of a place it was easy enough. “Oh it’s on me too, since you had to ask for the secret code for this place.” He said with a grin, well at least he had someone to talk to now which given the music choice was the best thing that could have happened.

When the man raises his beer to get the bartender’s attention Chloe can’t help but notice a big angry looking red burn on his hand, not thinking she reaches out and gently grabs his arm taking his beer and sitting it on the bar. She listens to him say something about the code word and tell the bartender to get her a drink. Never missing a beat she asks the bartender for a Manhattan and turns her attention back to the man sitting next to her, “This is a pretty nasty burn….What happened?....did you get it looked at?” She asks not waiting for him to answer as she examines the damage.
Realizing what she is doing she releases his arm suddenly and blushes turning to stare at her newly delivered drink. “Sorry,” she mumbles “…it’s well anyway I’m sorry for grabbing your arm, and prying in your business…I don’t even know your name after all. It’s a habit I guess. You could probably use a tube of Silvadene cream for that burn though..”
She grabs her drink with both hands taking a sip before glancing discretely at the guy next to her; he looks nice in the button down shirt and dark jeans, they bring out some of the bluest eyes Chloe has seen in a long time. ‘Great…first good looking guy I’ve had a chance to talk to since coming to Chicago and I act like a freaking moron’ she silently chastises herself. She listens to the noise that is supposed to be music for a few minutes before downing her drink in one gulp deciding that she is nowhere near tipsy enough to deal with this music and the fact that this guy probably thinks that she is some kind of idiot. She signals the bartender to bring her another.
“My name is Chloe, thank you for the drink.” She says trying to salvage some sort of dignity. “You come here often?” Making small talk has never been her strong suit, but any conversation is better than none.

JJ hadn’t expected the woman to gently grab his arm as he stared at her for a moment. Well this was different he thought temporarily forgetting that he had a burn on his hand from earlier in the day. When she took his beer he thought she might take to drinking it until she sat that on the bar. JJ had no words for a moment or two as she never missed a beat asking for a Manhattan whatever that was. The only time he was broken out of his thoughts was the moment she spoke.
“Oh what this.” He said watching her examine the damage, “Urm work related accident some things just set alight faster than others.” He said knowing that it had been his own fault but still it had hurt when he did it. “I looked at it sure but other than that, not really.” He explained not sure if he was going to be in trouble for it as really he had done it. He had done the usual run it under cold water but he didnt want to make a big deal out of it with a trip to the ER or anything.
JJ felt his arm hit the bar as she released it suddenly. He grinned seeing her blush and stare at her drink, “Don’t be sorry, my arm was enjoying it.” He said before he shook his own head, oh he really needed to get out more. “I mean, pry away I dont mind at all and I’ll get some silvadene. What is it you do exactly to make studying burns a habit?” He asked curiously, doctor or nurse or medic or just someone that was interesting in burned hands which was slightly odd but then again she was a beautiful woman so oh his mind was running on with itself.
The first beautiful woman he had seen in the evening and she grabbed his hand, was he complaining about it no. He glanced over at her trying to be discrete but then no JJ really needed to get out of work more and socialise. He was surprised at how she gulped down her drink before signalling the bar tender for another. “My pleasure and yeah I come here a few times, not regular but when I get chance it’s a pretty good place.” He said before he realised he hadn’t told her his name. “Pleasure to meet you Chloe, my name’s Jackson or JJ for short.” He said as he held out his good hand to her.

“So Jackson..” Yeah she likes the way that sounds she thinks as she takes the hand he offers “Aside from making a fool of myself…I’m a Paramedic for Chicago Fire Department….and a nurse, and in med school...moonlighted as a volunteer firefighter for a couple months….. How about you? What is it that you do that causes you to burn your hand so badly?....May I?” She asks before gently grabbing his other hand again, taking the time to better examine it. She lightly ghosts her fingertips around the edges of the burn. “I probably have a tube of Silvadene cream back at my hotel room…when you’re ready to leave…if you want, you could walk me back… and I’ll get it for you.” She’s reluctant to turn his hand loose, it’s warm and quite frankly she’s enjoying the contact. “No pressure though,” she giggled “Don’t feel obligated to walk me back to my room…I don’t expect you too, I just thought it would save you a trip to the pharmacy and all.” She bites her bottom lip as she looks up at him from under her eyelashes and blushes again.
Looking for something to do with her hands and since the bartender hadn’t come back with her drink yet she snags Jackson’s beer and takes a sip of it exhaling.. “Look I know I probably look like a babbling idiot right now; but I just moved here two weeks ago and haven’t had much time for socializing since arriving, so I apologize once again for my ineptness. Not to mention, it’s been a lot longer than that since I’ve had to worry about having a coherent conversation with a good looking guy that I wasn’t engaged to. Which is probably more information than you were looking for, but please let me buy you another beer since I stole this one and feel free to take me out of my misery and tell me a little about yourself.”

JJ grinned at her, well a paramedic explained her interest at least though when she went on to say she was a nurse too he raised his brow. “The fire department is very lucky to have you Chloe. If I’d have know you worked there I would have called for an ambulance earlier today.” He said though really it wasn’t bad enough for that or least he thought that. “Me well I used to be a Marine for the Navy.” He began, it still sounded strange to say ‘used to be’ as he never really lost that part of him. JJ nodded to her when she asked and grabbed his other hand again.
“Now I work for Whittech so I guess you could call me an engineer... pretty bad one today but then tomorrow hopefully things will work right.” He said with a grin as he watched her examine his hand again. “Oh sure that would be great” He said nodding, the one thing his dad had always taught him was how to be a gentleman. Make sure the lady got home safe at the end of the night, always. “Thanks and sure I’ll walk you back, it’s not like i’d let you walk back alone anyway. The city is great but sometimes there can be some strange people.” He said not wanting to put her off but he simply wanted her to be safe especially after a few drinks.
JJ watched as she took his beer, “You do that to every guy you meet?” He asked chuckling, for some reason with what she ordered he wasn’t sure she’d like beer but then again. When she started talking again Jackson listened to her and nodded, “So first thing first, no need to apologise and the beers on me. I’ve never had a woman take my beer before so this is a first. It’s been a while for me too, usually i’m too into work to get out much so trust me getting to talk to a gorgeous woman isn’t something that happens to me often.” He explained not sure if he was sounding like an idiot or not right at that moment.
“Glad you moved here though, it’s a great city. Welcome to Chicago. If you’re not too busy I could always show you around it some?” He offered trying to be nice and of course to get to see her again after that night. “So you were engaged before?” He asked curiously, “Me I was married before but that has been over for a while now.” He said which was his main reason for not getting out much; he was twenty five and divorced not exactly the track record he was looking for in life but then really it wasn’t his fault at all. He just picked the wrong woman.

Chloe can feel herself start to relax as she listens to Jackson talk, he has a very soothing voice. When he mentions calling for an ambulance earlier she quickly glances up and looks him in the eye before saying, “While I definitely would have been happy to come take care of you…I’m truly thankful it didn’t get that bad…”
She giggles at him when he asks her if she takes beer from every guy she meets, shaking her head no she replies “Just the ones I like.” Chloe blushes again when he calls her gorgeous, smiling up at him she leans a little closer to better hear the conversation or at least that's what she tells herself.
“I would love for you to show me around, basically all I’ve seen so far…is my hotel, CFD headquarters, school, and of course firehouse 51…and this place, for the first time tonight. I’m glad I decided to stop in here though.”
Chloe grows silent for a few minutes fiddling with the label on the beer bottle while she tries to decide exactly how much to tell Jackson about her ex… she startles when she feels her phone start to vibrate. “Speak of the cheating devil and he decides to call...” she mumbles under her breath before silencing the call and setting her phone on the bar. “Yes…I was engaged to my high school sweetheart, had the whole wedding planned and everything was going perfectly...until I came home from class early one day.” Her phone chirps with a text message and starts vibrating again… “Really wish he’d figure out that I don’t want to talk to him.” She sighs.

JJ grinned and nodded, “You’re not the only one, I can imagine my boss wouldnt be too happy if I burnt the place down. My work station lives to fight another day.” He said glad that it hadn’t been too bad. Enough to feel pain quickly followed by annoyance but nothing that related to needing to call out the emergency services and alert the building to the fact he had been an idiot. Lucky that his dad didnt even know yet though really it was simply an accident.
“Ah so you like me then, I can live with that.” He said smiling seeing her blush, well what he said was true she was gorgeous. The kind of woman that in his mind turned heads in a bar and he was glad that she had chosen to sit next to him that night. It was that or he might have had to try karaoke to get her attention once he had a few and that never went well when he was highly aware he couldnt hold a tune.
“Hotel, CFD, School, Fire House and this place... there is way more to this city. The food, the scenery, the parks.” He said then again his first two weeks home after the military he hadn’t done much other than try to break his 5am routine which took him a good few more weeks. With that he had managed to do a lot of walking around in the city so he knew it well enough. When she went silent for a few minutes JJ wasn’t sure what to think.
That was until her phone rang, he assumed it would be friends asking where she was or something like that though he was surprised to hear it was the ex. JJ watched her silence the call, had it been his ex he imagined himself throwing his phone clear across the bar but then they didnt exactly end on great terms. When Chloe started to explain he listened and nodded, familiar story. “I’m sorry he did that to you, the guy is an idiot and you deserve a lot better than that.” He stated sure he was right on all points there.
“You want me to fix that for you?” He asked knowing he was more than willing to call the guy and tell him to back off. If that didnt work then the good old ‘lie about it’ went along way. If he had moved on they so could she he thought. “For me, I decided to move home to Chicago with my then wife and end my military career. Turns out that me doing that meant she couldnt carry on with another man and that was the end of that.” He said as the bar tender placed down Chloe’s drink. He ordered another beer as he looked at the glass debating on drinking it though he had no idea what it was to begin with.

Chloe watches JJ, no she likes Jackson better, study her drink before she picks it up and takes a swallow, “You could always try it you know…I mean, I did steal your beer.” She smiles at him, “unless you’re afraid I have cooties or something.” Setting the drink down in front of her she slides it over in front of him.
“Your wife was pretty stupid too, if you ask me…”
Looking him in the eyes she slowly leans in to whisper in his ear, and is greeted by the masculine scent of him. She breathes him in before whispering, “Yes…I like you...”
And Lord help her she does like him, a lot. He makes her feel beautiful, important, and interesting instead of silly and unimportant. She’s not used to being made to feel like that around men, so it’s quite refreshing actually.
“So what part of this beautiful city are you going to show me first, Jackson? You mentioned food and scenery, was that you asking me out on a date, or am I just wishing you would?” She asks before leaning back and taking another drink of his beer.
When her phone fires off dings from several more text messages and goes to vibrating again she sighs and simply hands it to him leans in and kisses his cheek “I’ll be right back, you can tell me all about our first date when I get back.”
Chloe walks into the restroom and tries to clear her head, she has just told a guy that she likes him after talking to him what, all of 15 minutes….she has basically asked him out on a date…and she left her ringing cell phone in his hand with her ex on the other end. What was she thinking? Maybe it’s the alcohol…If he is still there when she gets back he just might be a keeper.

Jackson wrinkled his nose at the glass for a moment before he decided he might as well. He only lived once he thought as he glanced at her when she said he was afraid she might have cooties. “Well since you mentioned cooties, I probably should have said something before you took my beer.” He teased as he picked up her glass and took a drink from it. Nope, as suspected his entire face wrinkled up as he pushed the drink back toward her. “Beer is way better.” He said grinning as the bar tender sat another beer down in front of him.
When she spoke about his wife he grinned, “Thanks, I tried telling her that once but it didnt work out.” Well he had told her a few other things too not just that but then he hadn’t expected an entire U turn from what had happened. When she leaned to whisper in his ear he grinned feeling her breath on his ear. “I like you too.” He said not sure if it was too forward for her or if he had just alienated her entirely. He sometimes had that effect on people depending on the day.
It was nice to find someone who was interested in him, not for any other reason than he was him and that was it. It was nice to finally talk to someone, especially someone as beautiful and interesting as her. When she mentioned a date he grinned and shrugged taking a sip of his beer. “Well if you’re wishing it then how can I refuse? Depends on what food you like as to where we might go. So what food do you like?” He asked her, well if he had a date then it was worth knowing what she liked to eat.
Jackson took the phone she handed to him as he felt her kiss his cheek. Wow, he could have fallen of the bar stool right there and then he thought as it took most of his efforts to focus on saying something to her. “Yeah sure.” He said before he rolled his eyes at himself, two words and that was what he came up with. No wonder he hadn’t been on a date in a while, not like he was particular practiced in the art at all with two word answers that made even him want to smack himself for it.
He took one look at the ringing cell phone as he answered it. “Hey, Chloe’s phone.” He said not waiting to hear another voice at the end of it. “Sorry mate but she’s having too much fun being single and free so why don’t you stop harassing her and leave her be. Find someone else to bother because it’s not her anymore. Toddles.” He said as he hung up the phone placing it back on the bar. Well he hoped the guy would get the message but then maybe it needed to be more forceful but then time would tell.
He took another drink of his beer as he looked around for her before he glanced back at the bar. So after meeting a woman for fifteen minutes he had been asked out on a date and he had agreed. Chloe had left her cell phone with him and now, well now all he had to do was not to act like a complete idiot and hope for the best.

Chloe smiles as she makes eye contact with Jackson on her way back to the bar. She pushes her stool closer to his before hopping up and leaning in to pick up her phone from in front of him. “So…while you had my phone, did you happen to put your phone number in there? Or am I going to have to ask you for that too?....You sure are making me work awful hard for this date….but…that’s ok, I’ve never been afraid of a little hard work…as long as it’s for something I want.” She laughs.
“Hmm what kind of food do I like? Good question. Really, I’m not picky at all…just as long as… it’s not fish. My absolute favorite food…is homemade. If I had my way I’d cook you dinner, I love to cook… but since I’m living in a hotel at the moment and don’t have a kitchen…that’s not really an option…this time.” She grins at him before continuing, “So…surprise me…take me to your favorite place, I’m sure I will find something there.”
She reaches for his hand and threads her fingers through his. “This is nice,” she murmurs looking down at their hands, “I mean; the talking, the handholding, you actually listening and talking to me instead of at me. I appreciate it, thank you. It means a lot, and I’m having a really good time.”
Clearing her throat and looking back up she continues, “So,…uh the good news is I’m scheduled to look at a few more places with a realtor tomorrow, really hoping I find something I like because it’s almost to the point that I need to choose something whether I like it or not. My partner and another girl at work both offered to let me stay with them, and as much as I appreciate the offers…I just don’t know..you know?”
Just then her phone goes to ringing and chirping again, “Well it was nice while it lasted…I guess I really need to handle this. Ignoring it is not making it go away.” She says reaching for her phone and answering it before she can change her mind.
“Hello Brian….why yes…. I am fully aware of exactly how many times you have called me and texted me in the last hour alone, you happen to be interrupting my evening…. Yes, but then again a normal human being would take the hint that when someone doesn’t answer the phone they don’t want to talk to them….” Squeezing Jackson’s hand she continues, “Look Brian… I can’t help it if my friend answers my phone….I don’t control what he says or does any more than you can control what I say or do anymore….No...Brian… no you don’t need to come to Chicago, because it’s not going to accomplish anything…Look…I’m changing my number tomorrow…Don’t try to contact me again, and don’t even think about coming here…” laying the phone on the bar in front of her without even ending the call, she sighs and shakes her head, “He’s coming to Chicago.”
“Look, I totally get it if you want to cancel our date…I wouldn’t blame you a bit…nobody should have to deal with that level of crazy before the first date.”

Jackson smiled and grinned at her as she leaned in to pick her phone up from in front of him. “Since you asked so nicely, I didnt put my number in there but I can do.” He offered smiling, “Or you can put you number in mine?” He said as he passed his phone across to her as he grinned hearing her mention the date. Well it so was a date now he thought, “Then how about I make it a lot easier, what date and time do you want me to pick you up for this date?” he asked not wanting to miss his new social engagement at all.
Not picky about food was always a good sign he thought nodding as she mentioned homemade food. “Since you like home made then I could always cook you something, I cant promise it will be restraunt quality but edible I can do.” He offered not sure if that was too forward or if it was jus easier to eat out and know that the food was going to be good. “Or I know a few good places to get something to eat.” Jackson wasn’t sure which she would go for though she had the option.
It had been a long time since he had held another woman’s hand as he nodded agreeing with her. “It is nice.” He replied, “I could listen to you all day and I’m glad you’re having a good time, me too. It’s been a while since i’ve talked to someone as interesting as you and like you say, talking to and not at.” Jackson was used to people yelling at him in the Marine’s it came with the territory and Whittech was just as much fun with the stuff he got to do everyday though it was nice to talk to a human being and not just robots all day.
Hearing her talk about places to live he remembered the time he had to do that, home was great and he had stayed with his dad for a while but then there came a time when he had to get his own place but he remembered trying to find it. Needle in a haystack. “That is great, better to have your own place than a hotel room. Yeah I get it, when I came back home I had to get my own place because living with my parents as fun as it was, my own place is great.” He said knowing that there might be too many questions asked if he was still at home.
Mostly about how some nights he preferred to sleep on the floor because sometimes it was simply what he was used to. You could take the boy out of the military but some nights a soft bed wasn’t what he could handle. When her phone rang again Jackson shook his head, the guy should just back off and leave her be or at least that would be the right thing to do. He wasn’t sure if the ex really cared about that or not. He listened to her side of the conversation only imagining what he might say back until she mentioned about her friend answering her phone.
“No you cant let him rule and I’d like to go on a date with you.” He said smiling, “And hey you never know what crazy will be. I vote you completely forget about him and we can also do something about him annoying you?” He offered, they could get a restraining order as she had already mentioned changing her number. “You are way better than him and he needs to just leave you alone.” He stated though he wasn’t sure if him answering her phone had made things worse at all for her.

Chloe entered her number in Jackson’s phone and sent herself a quick text message before handing it back with a smile and a wink. “Well…is Sunday evening too soon? I go back on shift Monday and I’m working a double to cover for another medic that’s out, so I probably wouldn’t be much company for anybody but my bed after that, depending on how busy the shifts are…so yeah. Gotta love my schedule.”
Chloe stops to think before answering his next question, does she accept the offer of food at his place like she really wants to at the risk of seeming too forward, or does she ask him to take her out. The hell with it she thinks... “Ok so my mom will probably kill me when she finds out…but…how about I let you cook for me… on one condition? When I find a place, I get to return the favor…” She smiles shyly leaning into him. “I mean…only if you were serious about your offer that is? If not,… if you weren’t that’s ok too…Either way is perfectly ok with me as long as you’re there and I get a chance to get to know you better.”
Deciding to take Jackson’s suggestion of completely forgetting about Brian she shuts her phone off and stuffs it in her pocket.
“So… in the interest of learning more about you, I’ll start... but I warn you it’s fairly boring small town stuff. I Grew up in a small town in Northern Iowa, lived in the same house from the day I was born until I left…ran away really… two weeks ago. My parents are great…My Dad was in the Navy before getting into law enforcement, and my Mom a nurse. They are both very disappointed in my life choices at the moment, but they’ll forgive me eventually because they always do. I guess I truly am what most people call spoiled, and I’m pretty used to getting what I want. My reaction when I don’t… has gotten a lot better than it used to be…I am however still a pouter, but I have learned to deal with disappointment.”
Stopping to take a quick drink she looks up at Jackson to make sure his eyes haven’t glazed over from boredom yet, and continues “I had good grades all through school, but never had to study for real until I got into college. Here’s a secret for you, I’m still not entirely sure what I really want to be when I grow up.” She chuckles before continuing, “I was a competitive swimmer from the age of 5 all through high school, went to state competition a couple times. I still enjoy swimming laps…I find it very relaxing and it’s a good workout. I was in high school band, I played the clarinet…something that I wasn’t really very good at and it wasn’t my favorite, which is the reason I quit right after our senior trip to Florida to play in the Disney Parade…you already know about the previous engagement bit, but I did leave one important part out…the woman that was in bed with Brian, was Madison my next door neighbor for eighteen years and my college roommate…my best friend, you know the one you tell everything. So…yeah…that’s the Chloe Nunn crash course.”
As she finished up her story the band was taking a break, something prerecorded and a whole lot slower started playing and there were other couples getting up to dance between sets which inspires Chloe to say “Dance with me Jackson, I love to dance...dance first…life story second..” She smiles.

“No Sunday evening is perfect.” He said grinning glad to have her number in his phone as he winked back at her. “Everyone has a schedule but you’re sounds hectic but I don’t mind at all. All I have to do it try not to have any major work related accidents and I’m entirely free.” He said not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Work and home were the two things he knew best though he was trying to broaden his social circle and now he had met Chloe he was looking forward to Sunday even more.
Jackson chuckled at the mention of her mum killing her, he could imagine what that was like as there were a few things that Kristina didnt know his own mum that he was sure he would have been killed twice over for if she knew. “I accept then, I cook for you then when you get your place that’s okay. I can live with those terms.” He said nodding when she spoke about being serious. “Course I am, you say you like home cooked food and I dont think I can find that in a restraint so my place it is and I swear to you I’m not a serial killer at all.” He stated just for the record. “You can keep your phone with 911 on speed dial if you want but I promise you’ve nothing to fear other than my cooking if it goes wrong.” He joked grinning as he shut her phone off. Well her ex was bothering her and he thought that if the guy was going to Chicago it was better to let him cool off first and let Chloe have time to herself to think. Jackson listened happily to her talk about her life and the things that had happened in it, there wasn’t anything that could be boring about her at all he found and he kept listening to her.
Mother a nurse and father in the Navy well that explained her career choice a little he thought grinning as she mentioned about getting her own way. Somehow he couldnt see her as spoiled or a pouter but then again you never could tell. Jackson took a drink of beer as he listened to her talk about school. “I don’t think anyone really knows what they want to be when they grow up. It’s more a kind of try it out and see what fits best.” At least that’s what he had thought. The Marine’s were great until the day he was missing for six hours and then home was the place he wanted to be.
It just happened he had landed on his feet with his dad being security for Whittech he had found a job as an engineer there which meant that he was happy to play about with things all day. If he could call that a job at all. Jackson tried to hide his surprise as Chloe told him about the ‘other woman’ and exactly who she was. Well he hadn’t seen that one coming. “Happy for the Chloe Nunn crash course, it sounds like a great child hood.” He said not sure where to begin to explain his.
Then thanks to the band taking a break and a slower beat hearing her words he nods. “I’d love to dance with you Chloe.” He said as he got up from the bar and offered her his hand to walk her over to the dance floor where the other couples were dancing.
