Elizabeth was nervous about meeting her new firehouse team though if it went like the meeting with Boden she was sure it be fine. Though Lizzy never even thought how it may make the others feel having her there the sister of a deceased teammate. Though Lizzy wasn't sure if they still hurt from Leslie's loss but Lizzy cared her sister tragedy ever where she went trying to mask the pain with alcohol drugs or even work .
Of course she was on something this morning though she did forgo it during her meeting with Boden. That was a fun little meeting they had but she wasn't going to dwell on it she was here and now was what she needed to focus on. Besides it wasn't like she run into her sister's former teammates a lot they were on different shifts though same firehouse she wasn't sure if that would be the case at all. Lizzy walked through the doors of the firehouse headed towards the lockers before putting in her non essentials before taking a place in the kitchen.
Lizzy made sure to bring an apple with her before sitting down on the chair waiting nervously for something anything to distract her from her thoughts. As she waited she took a bite of her apple looking around the firehouse that was now her home it was slightly different then her old firehouse which was a plus. Lizzy remembered the stories Leslie would tell her about the firehouse and how it was magical and how everyone treated her like family .
Lizzy felt the something at her old house though after the loss of her sister it felt like something was different there or maybe it was her but she needed time and with her record of compliments building it was time for a fresh start and to combat her demons and where else but her sister's old firehouse. Though it was properly a poor decision something Boden had mentioned through a question rang on her mind. She did loose her sister and now was where her beloved sister worked. It was like she was trying to punish herself though she shook her head trying to focus on her apple having been lost in thought she wondered if anyone had noticed.

Chloe watched as the new girl walked into the kitchen with apple in hand and sat down at the table without saying a word. She seemed to be a million miles away and deep in thought so Chloe thought it best not to interrupt her and continued to quietly observe those around her. Seeing the girl shake her head and return to staring at her apple. Chloe pulled out the chair across from the girl and her apple and took a seat. "Um..Hi...I'm Chloe, first day..new PIC on ambo 74..and you are? Sorry..I uh...well anyway it's nice to meet you." 'Great Chloe..sound like a rambling fool...great first impressions here' she thought to herself as she sighed and looked at her folded hands on the table.

Elizabeth was taken back by Chloe at first though she did catch what she was saying even if she was little ramble and seemed to be nervous which Lizzy could account for as she was nervous herself. Though what caught her ears was ambulance 74 and PIC which meant she was her partner her new partner of her new firehouse.
Though at least she wasn't the only one who was new here that was a good thing. " I'm Elizabeth Shay but everyone calls me Lizzy. I'm new here as well actually . Just transferred here from Firehouse 42 and am also on ambulance 74 so I guess were partners."
Lizzy took a bite of her apple before smiling she was of course not in a good mood but things were looking up as she met someone new who didn't seem to react as she said her last name which was a good sign. Her sister was somewhat of a legend here in Firehouse 51 though she was sure someone would mention it to her at some point things like that wouldn't be uncommon knowledge for long.
Lizzy took another bite of her apple as she tilted her head talking as she chewed. "So what brings you to the legendary Firehouse 51 Chloe?" Lizzy wasn't much on small talk but anything to distract and if they were to be partners she should at least try to get to know her a bit better.

Chloe listened as Lizzy introduced herself, she did however notice that Lizzy hesitated a bit when she mentioned her last name almost as if she was waiting for some kind of reaction. Filing this away for further consideration Chloe responded. "Nice to meet you Lizzy..It is ok to call you that right? It's really nice to meet you. I apologize I'm pretty nervous and well excited..and when I'm nervous I tend to either not say anything or ramble too much. No happy medium you know? As far as what brings me to 51, that could end up being a really long story.. so short version. I guess I'm just lucky, I just moved to Chicago about 2 weeks ago and this is just where they assigned me. They asked me if I had a preference when I signed my employment papers, but being as I don't know anything about any of the houses I said that I would be happy to work anywhere they put me. So here I am. How about you? You said you were transferred in..did you request to come here? I haven't really met that many of our coworkers yet, officially I mean..I've seen them in passing but we really haven't had much time for introductions yet. I'm excited to meet everyone though. I did hear really good things about this house in orientation.

Elizabeth was now certain that she wouldn't know of her sister after hearing where she only arrived at Chicago 2 weeks ago which was good news for her. Elizabeth nodded at Chloe's question if she could call her Lizzy it was what everyone called her and it was way better then Elizabeth all the time.
She remembered how Leslie would use the full first name when she was upset with her knowing how much she hated it. Though Chloe was indeed lucky to get in to 51 because from what she heard it was indeed the best firehouse to be at. "Yes I did just transfer in and you can say it was my choice it was time to get out of my old firehouse and be somewhere that felt like home and 51 is one of the biggest firehouses to feel like home and family at least that what I was told by Leslie."
Lizzy took another bite of her apple before continuing she was glad to meet someone who didn't know much about her family name it was refreshing to say the least. "I'm sure you and I will fit right in though I'm a tad nervous it's also exciting to be here . On the introductions you and Boden are probably the only ones I seen recently if you don't count Casey and Brittany. Had the pleasure of meeting them and Lindsey of the fine Chicago intelligence unit last night at Molly's If you haven't been I highly recommend you check it out best bar well if your looking to hang out with coworkers and friends that is. " Lizzy smirked as she finished her apple chucking the rest in the trash.

"Molly's huh? This is the first I've heard of it. I haven't really been out too much since I got here, been too busy getting registered for classes and getting things straight so I could come to work. I haven't even really had time to look for an apartment yet."
She laughed before continuing "I'm still crashing in the hotel which...sucks to say the least." Chloe got up to fix herself a bowl of cereal and while she was pouring the milk she added "It will be nice to have another family here at work since I left all of mine back home and it seems like it can get kind of lonely around Chicago if you don't know anyone...it's a big beautiful city but even with all of these people I've been feeling...well I've been missing the friends..." Chloe stopped and took a deep breath and a bite of cereal to try to cover the fact she was starting to get emotional, "missing the people that I used to think were my friends." She finished.

Lizzy didn't know how to relate to Chloe she herself didn't have many friends and the ones she had she burnt those bridges she wasn't even sure if her last Firehouse still considered her a friend seeing as she had hardly heard a peep from them. Though she wasn't dwelling on it she was who she was and if they couldn't handle the new her she didn't need them.
Lizzy though would at least try with Chloe though she didn't have a good track with partners on the job and in her love life though Lizzy never did settle down she wasn't ready for a commitment . Lizzy though would help her out seeing as she needed a place though Amber probably would object but it was her home just as much as hers. "If you need a place to crash that isn't a hotel I have a spare room in my apartment it isn't the biggest but me and Amber use it for a guest room."
Lizzy stated shrugging her shoulders as she started on a banana taking a nibble from the top she listened to Chloe she herself wasn't lonely or was she? Sure she was with people all the time but it didn't seem to fill the void. "Friends are overrated and tend to let you down but as long as you have one person you can truly trust Chloe that is all you really need in life. I'm sure you will find that here at 51 a new star could be good at times."

Chloe really wasn't quite sure what her take was on Lizzy yet, but she did appreciate the offer of a place to crash. "Yeah definitely thanks for the offer...I'm actually scheduled to look at a few places tomorrow morning. I'll for sure let you know if they don't work out." Chloe took a few more bites of cereal in silence before adding, "I'm not sure it's a good idea to truly trust one person with everything ever again...tried that once and well needless to say it didn't work out so well in the long run."

Lizzy was starting to get really intrigued now after Chloe's vague statement it brought up questions and seeing as it was quiet at the moment she didn't have anything better to do though she mentally checked that the training area was on her to do list. Lizzy loved working out and she was for sure going to be ready with the upcoming PD/Fire house competition fight match approaching.
took another chew of her banana pointing it at Chloe as she spoke. "Spill . What caused you to have trust issues? I myself grew up with two sisters it tends to lower the trust though then their is roommates there lovely bundles of mistrust not saying I don't like my roommate ." Lizzy loved Amber but trusted was a whole different issue all together.
Lizzy was making a mental not thought to talk to her about Chloe possible move in though it could be a non issue if she didn't need the spare room but as Chloe had said she be informing her of her need after her house hunting.

"Trust issues... hmmm well let me start from the beginning. I had a really happy childhood Dad involved in PD mom a nurse...I'm an only child..the baby...and the only grandchild that lived anywhere near either set of grandparents...so I was what others would call spoiled. Never had any reason not to trust anyone. Fell in love with Brian in high school went off to college together...got engaged...came home from class early one day and caught him in bed with my best friend since preschool so yeah I probably have some trust issues." She rambled.
"Had I stayed in Iowa I would have had to face both of them EVERY day... so I took the cowards way out and ran away from it all managing to hurt my whole family in the process...so when I say I'm alone...literally I'm all alone right now, none of them will speak to me at the moment." Chloe coughed and blinked a couple times to try to cover the fact that she was about to cry. "I'm sorry that was probably more than you really wanted to know...but that's my story."

Elizabeth shocked her head getting up placing her arm around Chole leaning in taking a deep breath. It seemed they had something in common as Lizzy didn't have much family left her self sure she had a sister but their parents were deceased as with her other sister.
"I know how it to be alone though my family are mostly gone it was just me and my sisters left well sister now. We hardly speak well hardly is not the right word more like nonexistent. But as for your fiance your better off besides men are usually dogs hence why I avoid them and switched teams." Lizzy tried to lighten the mood with humor though she knew how Chloe felt to a degree and that pain just didn't vanish .
"But don't worry I'm sure your family will forgive ya and if they don't so what it's their hangup you did what you felt was right and no one should judge you for what you think is right. But out of all the places to run to why Chicago you could have went to California it's by far warmer ."

Chloe gathered her thoughts before turning to Lizzy, "Thanks for listening, I think I'm just about done being depressed about it though, I am so over it over him...or done letting it get to me anyway. I'm here now and I'm ready to start a new chapter in my life."
As to your other question...I guess Chicago is just far enough away, to be away, but close enough to be able to go back and visit my parents when I'm ready for that." Chloe shivers, "However on days like today I think I could be persuaded to consider California...Vegas...anywhere warm."
"I think...we should celebrate, new beginnings and partnerships. Calls for a girls night out...somewhere with a cab on standby."

Lizzy was glad to hear Chloe was over it though saying you were over a tragedy was easier then simply getting over it this was something Lizzy had experience in. Though she had to admit her new partner was by far different then her previous partner but she was sure she get along with her. Lizzy grinned at the mention of a party though it was what she was famous for.
"Chloe I'm always down for a party but who would you have in mind or are you asking me out?" Lizzy smirked winking at her before moving over and grabbing a cup of coffee and taking a sip it was still early in the day .
"Though I'm sure this could be fun seeing as we are new partners and fifty one is our new home we should defiantly mingle and make ourselves known. I'm on my way to challenge the Police department in an upcoming competition you got any goals or hobbies because their is more then just work which I will defiantly show you at our night out."

When Lizzy suggested that Chloe was asking her out she chokes coughing and sputtering on her mouthful of Cheerios before breaking out in the first genuine laugh she'd had in awhile. "You know what Lizzy Shay...I think we're going to get along just fine, but I'm not quite ready to give up on all men just yet...if I ever get to that point you'll be the first to know." She adds with a wink.
Taking a moment to reflect on her goals and hobbies Chloe realizes that most of them are work related, "It's official, I'm boring...Med School will do that to you. Most of my goals are career related, and when you're in Med school who has time for many hobbies. Besides if everyone here knew all my hobbies I'd end up having to cook every day I worked."

Lizzy grinned and let out a soft sigh folding her arms as she watched Chloe she was defiantly going to be an interesting partner and that was what Shay needed right now in her life her other partner was by far too judgmental . Lizzy took another sip of her coffee . "Well it was worth a try but when you do feel like switching teams I'll be here to give you a few pointers."
Lizzy was actually enjoying herself and was forming a bond with Chloe someone she could see being protective over for sure though Chloe brought up a point she hadn't thought about. If the house knew of a skill you were clearly going to have to exploit it and cooking was a valuable skill that could cause you to cook everyday Lizzy would avid that task at all cost. "Well your secret is safe but at least you can cook me you wouldn't want to unless your have poison control on stand by."
Lizzy finished her coffee placing the cup on the counter before returning to her thoughts it was nice Chloe was in school she knew what she wanted even if it was boring the thing is Lizzy never thought of what she wanted did she want to be a firefighter, a PIC or a paramedic in general or even a doctor? Lizzy admired her sister and followed her into the field but was it something she wanted she wasn't one hundred percent. "Med school huh? So you want to be a nurse or a doctor? It's a noble profession at least I got you till you become famous and fabulous." Lizzy stated.
