Isla laughed and shook her head. "Thanks, but no thanks! I have a suspicion that a 'ride in the ambulance' means four-point restraints and a spit-shield!" She surely wouldn't put it past him to try something like that, and he didn't know his new partner well enough to know if she might actually participate. "Really, the car doesn't have to be 'new'...just newer than something that needs to be cranked!" She laughed and shurgged. She didn't want him to go too far out of his way for her, all she really needed was reliable, along with power windows and locks so she could control those from her seat, and AC for when the Chicago heat ramped up in the Summer. "You know, a pretty pink scooter would work just fine, too...and I'd promise to wear a helmet. That wouldn't cost so much, even if you threw in knee and elbow pads." Glancing over at him, she grinned widely. "Might not even cost you anything after you get the trade-in for the old car, right? And I'd put those little streamers in the handle-bars..." Steven Hudson,

Steven made a hurt face at her before he smirked. “You know me too well, but it would be for my own protection. You know how uncooperative patients can be, especially the ones who are your sister when she doesn’t want to be picked up.” Steven said as he knew he would try it though given what Kelle knew already about what he had done. He wondered how far on the annoying brother scale she would let him go before outing him about the diary situation that he had no ideas was a situation until he admitted to it. “Well it needs to be safe for you to drive, have a great safety rating. Walking and talking and enough that I know you’re going to be okay in it at all hours. Plus a Steven bat signal if not too.” He explained though getting that past any car garage might sound slightly strange. It however needed to keep her warm, cool, happy and get her from A to B without an incident which the car she had already. He trusted it less and less each minute that passed. Steven screwed up his face when she mentioned a scooter. A new car was one thing but a scooter. “Do I need to remind you the amount of scooter related runs I do to the ER?” He asked her as he raised his brow at her. “You can have little pink streamers on your car, furry dice if you want but a scooter? Uh nope, those things are death traps and sure they look great but I want you to live. Believe it or not but it’s true.” He stated grinning at her. Isla Hudson,

"Well, I guess as long as there's a place to put my streamers!" She laughed, then shrugged. "I guess elbow and knee pads are pretty bulky, and a helmet would just mess up my hair. Of course, going by that, no sunroof!" Not that she liked that anyway, she really didn't like the sun glaring in her face, or getting her hair all tangled in the wind. "I guess an SUV is out, too," she mused, "since I could never get used to parking a boat...and a Porche is waaaay too expensive...and no Pintos...so, what's left?" As they passed a car lot, she leaned out the window, staring at an older red Miata hardtop. "Oh, sweet! What about that!" As if he'd let her have a sports car! "I can drive a stick, you know, and no squealing the tires!" Steven Hudson,

Steven grinned at her as he listened to her talk about the elbow and knee pads along with the streamers. “Exactly no scooters or bikes for you, just a car with four wheels, air con and locking doors. All of the necessities in life.” He said grinning, Steven loved the thought of having a sun roof or no roof on a car but then it was far from practical for what he needed. Just a motor to get him to work and do the family shopping and he was a happy guy. “Well an SUV is supposed to be safe but yeah I get what you mean about parking a boat. I park one most days and there are limited spaces, forbid you just have to abandon the boat in the street.” He said grinning, an ambulance was hardly a nimble thing and parking it. Sure they might be going to save someone’s life but if it was intrusion on a person’s drive to work he could guarantee that he would hear about it or hear the horns blaring. Steven watched Isla as she leant out of the window as he pulled the car over and turned around to see the Miata hardtop. “You want a sports car?” He asked her as if he had heard her wrong, no there had to be a ford Taurus or tank there for her that was safe, not a sports car. “I know you can drive stick and nope to squealing tyres.” He said with a sigh, well was it time to actually let his little sister get a sports car. A sign for up above would have been great right about then as he glanced at the car again. It was nice he had to admit. “Do you want to go have a look at it?” He offered trying to be encouraging but not overly excited. He was hardly exactly saying he would get her it but then it all depended on if he figured she liked it and if it was safe. Then again driving fast to get away from something had its benefits. "Can we?" Isla gave him an enthusiastic look, although she was quick to amend, "just a test-drive, right, the see what it's like. But really, it's too small if I need to take friends with me...or you." She grinned at him. "Your knees would smish into the dashboard! And I might want to get some furniture or something, or need room for a suitcase." Okay, she really did like the look of the Miata, and the idea of zipping around in a red sports car was great, but she knew it would give her brother apoplexy, and besides, it really wasn't practical.
"But yeah, I'd love to drive something like that once. Then we can look at something frumpy, all right?"
To be fair, she knew a car didn't have to be 'frumpy' to be safe and reasonable, but it was fun to tease her brother!

Steven took a breath as he nodded to Isla, “Yes we can.” He said smiling enjoying seeing her enthusiastic about it. “Sure a test drive is a great idea and are you sure you don’t want it for that reason, so I cannot sit and nag at you from the passenger seat?” He teased grinning at her as he nodded. It was a pet hate of his, his knees being smished into the dashboard or his knees at his ears. He often thought it was simply because he was used to driving the ambulance, plenty of leg room there. “Are you talking yourself into this car or out of it?” He asked her curiously, sure in his mind Isla needed no help with the needs for speed but if she truly wanted the car. He could attempt to by her it and see how it went; after all he could always follow her with lights and sirens to make sure she was alright. Steven figured he might be buying her the one car that would give him a heart attack until he grinned hearing her talk about the frumpy car. “Yeah no that would be great, frumpy sure we can go all out on frumpy.” He said grinning, so sure he knew she had a lot more style than that but it never hurt to tease. Especially when it came to the red sports car and something that would get her to and from work with reliability. Other than him driving her every day which he was far from against but then she had to have her space eventually he figured. Or had been told too many times not to figure. Isla Hudson,

“Sure a test drive is a great idea and are you sure you don’t want it for that reason, so I cannot sit and nag at you from the passenger seat?”"Oh, hey, I hadn't thought of it that way," Isla mused, glancing at him, "maybe I do want a car like that...or a Mini-Cooper...yeah, that sounds perfect...in pink, of course." “Are you talking yourself into this car or out of it?”"Into/out?" With a grin, she shrugged. "Honestly, frump is fine, I mean, sure, a Lamborghini would be awesome, but...you know." Laughing, she looked over at him. "Both of us dreamers, right?" “Yeah no that would be great, frumpy sure we can go all out on frumpy.”"All out, huh?" She wasn't sure what that meant, but it sounded good. "Yeah, an all-out frumpy...OH! Look!" Eagerly, she pointed to a 2015 white Camaro. "Steven, I'm totally serious, that's perfect! Not a little sports car, and a safe color..." Steven Hudson,

Steven raised his brow at her wondering if that was true or not. “Now a mini –cooper that is a classic so sure I’m all for that car but pink? Are you sure about the colour? Not red, white or blue like the movie?” He asked her grinning, “Though I swear if you rob a bank you’re inviting me along for the ride too.” Not that he would enjoyed the arrested part or jail time but then he had been there and done that with the arrested part, plus lock up so really he had advanced knowledge of that side of things. For better or worse. “Listen if you want a Lamborghini I will find a way to get you one, even if it’s a toy version.” Steven said seriously knowing he would do all he could. “If you want the knock off version I might spring for an Audi?” He offered knowing it a big come down but then dreams were dreams. Steven was about to nod to the frumpy and all out when he glanced at the white Camaro. “Damn.” He said as he glanced at it, “That’s one nice looking car... and not pink either.” He said with a grin as he looked at Isla. “You sure? I mean really sure that you’re okay with that car?” He asked her smiling; “Now my sister is going to have a better car than me, how is this fair?” He questioned as he shook his head and pulled into the car lot. “So test drive first?” He asked still glancing at the car, it seemed safe enough and looked great. The colour was far from pink and he figured it had leg room too. Isla Hudson,

"Yeah, of course!" Hopping out of Steven's car, she ran over to the Camaro, gazing in the window then looking at her brother. "It looks pristine inside! Cloth interior..." cupping her hand by her eye to block the glare of the sun, she added, "CD player, AC...looks like it has On-Star, too." Standing straight, she grinned at Steven. "See, you'd never have to worry about me, On-Star can call for help if I need it, right?" Well, and track her, she supposed, if Steven could talk a good enough story to them, and being in his job, she didn't think that was much of a stretch. As the salesman approached, she smiled at them man...for now, she would let her brother do the negotiations. "Nice car, isn't it?" he commented with a fake smile, "Two-thousand fifteen, V8, overhead cam, gets twenty-five to the gallon in the city...power doors and windows, AC, anti-theft system and only 41K on it. Want to take a drive?" He was talking to Steven, but his eyes were on Isla. Steven Hudson,

Steven locked the car as he followed Isla to the Camaro watching her as he smiled. It was nice to see her so excited over it as he nodded. “Just because you have On-Star never means I will not worry about you, I’ll still be doing by stalking brother thing to you.” He said grinning, “But I might come over the steal the car some times though you know, just for test purposes.” He added grinning though On-Star was a great thing. At least he would know like she said they could call for help. “It can call for help but then they call me so I’ll still be there no matter what.” He offered knowing that he would do anything for family at any point, if his sisters were in trouble of any kind he was there. When Steven saw the salesman approach he could practically smell salesman off the man which Steven was against to start with. “Very nice car.” Steven said smiling back at the man until he saw the man’s eyes on his sister and then all bets were off. “Yes we’d love to take a test drive but let me make this very clear to you.” Steven stated as he motioned to Isla for a second. “She’s off limits so eyes this way if you would... and Isla drives.” Steven said smirking as he glanced at Isla. He was protective it was given but no one was eyeing his sister while they were buying a car. It sounded great so far but then points completely knocked off for his eyes wondering where Steven knew they should never be. Isla Hudson,

Isla felt a blush come to her cheeks at the man's attention...while it wasn't really welcome, it was still flattering, but she was glad that her brother had intervened. Nodding rapidly, the guy handed her the keys. "There you go, hon...Miss." He smiled uncertainly, looking at Steven then getting in the back passenger seat. Grinning, Isla got into the driver's seat and as Steven was settling in behind the salesman, she muttered, "Be nice, remember what I said last time...no more biting." With that, she fired up the engine and gunned it, then looked at the salesman. "So, um, what's the third pedal for again?" May as well have some fun! Steven Hudson,

Steven raised his brow again towards the man, his sister was called Isla not hon, honey or anything other than Isla because otherwise his head might implode and he would consider himself fully within his rights to kill the guy. No questions asked, it was what brothers did he thought as Steven settled himself behind the sales man at an angle he could make sure the guy kept his hands to himself. “Yes ma’am, no more biting... the last guy did scream a lot about that though.” Steven said grinning as he licked his lips for a moment before gnashing his teeth together. Well who could resist a little embellishment on that, not that he wanted to bite the guy but he would if he had to. Steven reached for his seat belt pulling it tight as Isla started the engine. “Hold onto your hats people, she’s off.” Steven said laughing, “Third pedal... yeah never took that class maybe it’s the go faster pedal?” He suggested grinning though he was sure Isla needed no help in her speed at all. However the salesman, well it was fun to tease him or at least to make him think that they had no idea how to drive a car. It was one reason Steven was enjoying being in the back, at least he felt safe enough to not see what was going on in the road too much. Isla Hudson,

“Third pedal... yeah never took that class maybe it’s the go faster pedal?”"Yeah?" Frowning, Ilsa started slowly from the lot, muttering apologies as the car jerked as she played the clutch and gas until she got to the roadway. "I just need to warm up is all." Then she grinned and tromped the gas as she popped the clutch, making the tires squeal as she quickly accelerated, skipping second and forth gears. Unfortunately, the speed limit was only 45 and she wasn't about to piss off big brother by speeding. Bad enough he'd taught her too well to drive a stick! Of course, this was a test drive, and that meant settling in and paying attention to how the car felt, how it cornered and stopped, how comfortable it was, how easily she could see out the windows and mirrors... She loved it!Finally pulling back into the lot, she parked and got out, the frown back. "It's nice," she mused, glancing at Steven, "but...I don't know, a little sluggish and the seat is kind of stiff..." No sense letting the salesman know she was in total lust! Steven Hudson,

Steven could feel himself gripping onto the seat belt as Isla took off slowly from the lot; he smirked slightly as she muttered her apologies for the car jerking though he knew she knew how to drive stick. “Take your time, see if you like it or not.” Steven said as he felt himself pushed back into the seat the minute he heard the tires squeal and accelerate. He took a glance at the speedometer as he was glad she was keeping to the limit, not that he would make any move to tell her off about it in front of the sales man. He was still watching the guy to make sure he did nothing to upset or annoy his sister though she seemed to like the car from what he could tell. Getting out from the car Steven glanced over the car for a moment as he looked to Isla as she spoke. “Yeah I agree not much leg room in the back either.” Steven added as he sighed and look toward the salesman. “So what was the price tag again for this?” He asked cautiously not wanting to express absolute interest in it. “I mean we’ve seen others I just don’t know if this is the car you know?” He said as he winked at Isla. “What do you think Isla; take a look at the others again?” He said though he knew full well there had been no others like this. Still egging the salesman on was fun. Isla Hudson,

Isla's nose wrinkled up. "We've been at this all day," she sighed, enjoying the game, but especially enjoying the fun with her brother. "I just hate having to go back, but..." Looking at the salesman, she blinked her eyes innocently. "How much was this one, again?" And her attention went back to her brother. "With the warranty, right? How long was it on that Kia?" "Kia?" The salesman shook his head, looking to Steven as well. "You can't let her have a Kia...they have terrible crash ratings...and we've got great deals on warranties." Well, that was something Isla would let Steven deal with, she wasn't sure how that worked, or honestly if she even needed one. Steven Hudson,
