| E rin was so mad at Hank right now. Even after going to the interview of the witnesses with Antonio she didn't feel any better. She needed to talk to Jay before she did anything stupid. Though once they were en route on their way home from the precinct that night she stopped pulling into a parking lot and trying her best to try and figure out what she wanted to say. "I'm resigning in the morning" she pointed out. It was better to just come out with it right? Erin didn't really want it but she felt Hank didn't trust her. Hank was all she had when it came to any semblance of a parental figure, the other Erin totally didn't count.
Erin took the keys out of the ignition and tossed them onto the dashboard. driving was not really something she should be doing at the moment but as usual she had insisted. Now she was starting to think Jay had been right. The woman really wasn't feeling well and then there was... she took her badge off her belt and threw it up on the dashboard with the keys and then she lightly set her service weapon up beside it. Erin just wanted to cry but she couldn't, she wanted to scream but she just wanted to make it all go away.

Jay's eyes widened when Erin announced that she was resigning in the morning. "What? Why?" he wondered. Is this about what happened between her and Voight? he wondered. "Erin, no. This unit means the world to you. If anyone should step down from it, it should be me," he continued. He would occasionally get offers from other precincts because of his skills so it wouldn't be too hard to get work. Or hell, he could become a private investigator or something.
He then watched as she threw her keys, gun, and badge onto the dashboard. Then, without a word, he went to pull her close. "Let it out. Cry, scream...anything you want," he murmured. He wanted her to feel safe enough to express herself around him. Yes, he understood that it would take time for her walls to come down completely, but he didn't care. All he cared about was her. He wanted her to do things at her pace, not anyone else's.

| E rin looked at him confused. “You resigning does not get me out from under Voight’s thumb” she informed him. Though she appreciated him looking out for her, she wasn’t going to let him do something that stupid, especially when it didn’t solve the issue at all. Voight telling her that he didn’t care what she did was like a slap in the face. She hated passive aggressive and that’s what he had done.
There was nothing worse than feeling like you had to chose. “He’s asking me to choose.” She said the words and it hurt. “So I’m choosing my options. I can always go back on Patrol. It’s not like I am throwing my job away.” Jay was going to have a hard time convincing her not to turn her badge in.
Erin had everything she wanted. Voight was trying to make her push Jay away and that wasn’t going to happen. Voight was not going to win. “I had to back down once. I’m not going to give him that satisfaction.” She cried hard into his shoulder. Of all the people to hurt her… and he didn’t even seem to care that she was hurting.

Jay was silent as Erin reminded him that him resigning didn't get her out from under Voight's thumb. "I'm coming between you two and that was the last thing in the world I wanted," he said. He hated that he had caused this rift. If it was better for her for him to be the one to transfer out, he would. He knew how special Voight was to Erin and he wasn't going to ruin that just because he had a thing for her.
His eyes flickered as she said that Voight was asking her to choose and that she was choosing her options, saying that she could always go back to patrol and that it wasn't like she would be throwing her job away. "No, this unit is your family. Babe...I'm the one who should go. You stay. Make things good between you and Voight again," he counseled. He wasn't going to let her lose of the most important relationships she had just because of him. He refused to be that guy.
When she reminded him that she had had to back down to Voight once and that she wasn't going to give him that satisfaction again, he let out a small sigh. Hate that he's doing this to her. What the hell is he thinking? he fumed as she cried into his shoulder. He was absolutely going to their Sergeant, consequences be damned. He had made Erin cry. He had hurt her and to him, that was unforgivable.

| E rin was quick to shake her head when Jay said he was the wedge between her and the closest thing she had to dad. “No” she was adamant about it and it was obstinately obvious between her tears as she lifted her head off of Jay’s shoulder. “You are the man I love and he’s just being an overprotective jerk” she wanted to use other words than jerk, but couldn’t, mostly because Voight mattered to her. “If you think for one second he wouldn’t be the same way if I had fallen in love with someone else.. This isn’t your fault Jay” No it was her own damned fault for falling for someone and caring about them, for actually being happy for once in her life.
Cue him say the family was family. “Family supports each other Jay.” She stated firmly. Pulling him close. “My family is right here.” Right now Jay was the only person she would let her be her. “I don’t WANT to stay… I can’t… It hurts too much” she just laid on his shoulder and cried harder. Jay hadn’t done this and Erin didn’t want him feeling guilty for it. Erin held onto Jay and tried to catch her breathe and she was trying to force the tears to stop but they wouldn’t. It hurt too much.

Jay listened as Erin told him that he was the man she loved and that Voight was just being an overprotective jerk, adding that he would be the same way if she had fallen for someone else and that it wasn't his fault. "Yeah it is," he replied. "I don't want you losing one of the most important relationships in your life," he responded. It'd kill him if that happened.
He then held her as she reminded him that family supported one another, that her family was with him, that she wanted to be with him, and she didn't want to stay in the unit without him, starting to cry. Holy crap. She was crying. Voight had made her cry. Gonna f-g kill him, he thought to himself. "I've got you. It's all gonna be okay," he murmured. He wasn't sure how, but he'd make it right.

| I t was hard not to just yell at Jay for every reason why he was wrong about now, but what would that solve? Then she would be a spitting image of the man she was upset with right now. “How Voight treats me, is not anything you can control.” She tried rephrasing what she had said. Maybe that would make her point a bit more clear?
Erin knew that Jay was as protective of her as she was of him, if not more. If Jay went to Voight. “Jay…” she sniffed out. “Don’t do anything stupid, please” she didn’t specify what she meant by that. Overprotective dad v. protective boyfriend, that was one of Erin’s worse nightmares.
Sympathy wasn’t really their style but a reminder they had each other’s backs was. To her the three words ‘I’ve got you’ could fix anything. They were more powerful than anyone else could understand. ”I never want to let you go” she told him, and she didn’t. It wasn’t to say that her and Jay didn’t have their rough patches, but he never hurt her when they did. He never tore her heart out and stepped on it. Erin didn’t want to lose Hank, but she was plagued by her mother’s words now about Hank being poison for her.
No. She pushed those thoughts away, Erin her owed her life to Hank. He’d helped her even when things crashed and burned. But what gave him the right to treat her like this? Jay was right, it would all work out eventually. Erin just held onto Jay like her life depended on it. Why did everyone she care about slip away?

Jay was silent as Erin reminded him that he couldn't do anything about the way Voight treated her. "I know," he said quietly. Didn't mean that he had to take it lying down though. He hated the fact that Erin and Voight weren't getting along and he knew just how important Voight was to Erin. And he was going to do everything that he could to make things right. He wasn't sure of everything that he'd have to do, but he'd do it.
When she sniffed and asked him not to do anything stupid, he went to pull her close. "I won't," he promised. Ripping Voight a new one wasn't stupid. It was prudent. Voight had hurt her and he was going to make him pay for it. The man had to know that he couldn't just willy-nilly hurt her feelings just because he didn't approve of them. He wasn't going to stand for it. He cared about Erin too much.
He then smiled as she admitted that she didn't ever want to let him go. "Then don't," he whispered. "And I'll never let you go," he continued. No, he would hold forever and ever if she let him. Hell, even when she pushed him away, he was going to keep holding her. There was no way she could ever push him away permanently.

| E rin was content with the fact that she wasn’t going to be left alone. It was enough to settle her. Enough to settle her into sleeping. She fell asleep right there in the car. It didn’t matter. None of it did. She woke up though when they got back to the house. That’s just because the car’s motion shifted and she had gotten used to it.
Moving out from the car Erin shoved her bag against the wall and went into the kitchen to reach for the bottle. Though she was denied it. Probably because she was going to get lost in it or something. So she just hugged herself close to Jay. “I just want this to be… over” she mused out.
Glancing back into the kitchen she wanted so badly just to hit the bottle. “I need to be able to make my own decisions about who I want in my life, but it’s always a battle. Because everyone will always be the one person who won’t be good for me in his eyes.” She sighed. “I don’t want to be old and alone.” She sighed feeling like it was what Voight was trying to do. She curled up on the couch pulling away from Jay as her gazed was fixed staring towards the wall.

When Erin said that she just wanted everything to be over, Jay smiled and went to pull her close. "He loves you. You guys will work it out," he assured. At least I hope they will, he thought to himself. He didn't want her losing the important man in her life. And yes, he knew that title belonged to Voight, and while most guys would be threatened by this, he didn't feel that way at all. If he did, he wouldn't be so ready to kick his ass for hurting her.
He then nodded as she said that she needed to be able to make her own decisions about who she wanted in her life but that it would always be a battle because nobody would be good enough for her in Voight's eyes, adding that she didn't want to be old and alone. "You won't be. I'm not going anywhere," he assured her. No, he'd stay right with her no matter what, Voight be damned.

| E rin somehow managed to fall back asleep, but it had taken a good few hours of her wanting to drink, circular talking, and more tears than Erin cared for. Somewhere between the hundredth time Jay reminded her that she wasn't going anywhere and the upteenth million time she swore she needed to leave the unit, there was still no reasoning with her when her eyes closed.
The mental and emotional exhaustion were the only things really allowing her to fall asleep in the comfort of knowing Jay had her back. She was buried into his shoulder with a blanket around them both. Of all the people that she expected to be happy that she was happy... had just shattered her whole world.
