The only member who had not reported to the scene was Jay Halstead. He had connections to the hospital, as well as had just already recently come under investigation in the drugging of a firefighter's wife while on duty. Internal affairs had taken an interest in him. He was close enough with 51 to put in a call to their ambulances off the radio too. Close enough to pull the strings that had to be pulled. Jamie intercepted Jay for question before he could enter the 21st precinct. "Jayson Halstead, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. You need to come with me. I also need your weapon and your badge." She was politely telling him that he was under arrest without causing a scene in the middle of the parking lot. She did give him that courtesy. Jamie wasn't all that bad, sure she worked for IA, but she did so with a strong sense of integrity. Jamie never liked this part and arresting officers. @jayhalstead

He was in a bad mood. His coping techniques had stopped being effective and his nightmares were coming back stronger than ever, leading to more nights in cuffs so that he couldn't hurt anyone or get out of the house. He had almost made it to car when a woman appeared in front of him, using his full name, saying that they could do things the easy or the hard way, that he needed to come with her, and that he needed to hand over his badge and gun. Great. I.A. What the hell? he wondered. "It's late, I'm tired and I'm not in the mood for f-g mind games," he bit off. Okay, maybe that was harsher than it should've been but that's what happened when he was ambushed: he came out swinging.
He then stepped past her, using his car keys to unlock his car door, a chirp shattering the silence of the night. Damn, I could use my bed right about now, he thought to himself. He also needed to figure out why the methods he was using had stopped working. Should he make an appointment with someone? Maybe Olinsky will know of someone I can use, he thought to himself.

Jamie wasn’t playing games, despite her rather snappy attitude at times she remained calm to do her job. “No games detective. You are under arrest for the murder of Victoria Granderson.” She put her hands to block him from getting in the car. “Now either you can come walk into the precinct with me or you can put your hands on the hood of the car and we can do this the embarrassing way with the cuffs” she pointed out. He seemed like a reasonable guy, despite all the charges trumped up against him. It had passed Jamie’s mind that he might have been framed, but if that was the case then someone did a knock out job of making Jay look like the guilty one. The only intelligence detective not present at an operation which his unit was conducting. Jamie gave Jay a look. “I don’t ask a third time detective” she stated quietly. It wasn’t a threat, she was warning him though that this was his last chance not to be treated like they did the perpetrators they cuffed out on the streets. @jayhalstead

Jay's eyes flickered as the woman said that she wasn't there to play games and that he was under arrest for the murder of someone named Victoria Granderson, saying that he go with her willingly or she could cuff him. "Who?" he asked in confusion. He had no idea who this woman was talking about and he just wanted to go home. "I don't even know who you're talking about," he snapped.
He then went to his car and opened the door. He wasn't going to stick around while some woman he didn't even know accused him of murdering a woman he had never even heard of. What was he, an idiot? He just wanted to go home and go to bed.

She reached up and grabbed his hands. “Jayson Halstead you are under arrest, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney, if you cannot afford one then one will be appointed to you. Do you understand these rights as they have been read to you?” she paused to allow him to answer the question. “Keeping these rights in mind do you wish to speak with me?” Oh she hated those last few questions. The good ole state of Illinois. As she had been speaking as she had secured the cuffs around his wrists. “Voight is rubbing off on you. Always gotta do things the hard way” her Boston accent was thick despite the years that she lived in Chicago for a large number of years. She tugged on his arm. “A regular Mark Dixon” she noted as she walked him back towards her car. On the bright side he didn’t have to walk past his squad mates being humiliated because he had refused to cooperate. @jayhalstead

Jay had just started for his car when he felt the cuffs being slipped over his wrists, reading him his rights. "What the hell!?" he asked furiously. What the f-k does this b-h think she's doing? he fumed. He hadn't killed anyone and he couldn't believe that this woman would actually think that he had. What is she thinking? he wondered. Was she thinking? When she asked him if he wanted to speak with her, he scowled. "I want my rep," he replied. I also just want to go home and go to bed, he thought to himself.
When she said that Voight was rubbing off on him and that he always had to do things the hard way and making some reference he didn't know, he scowled. "Where's your evidence? Or are just operating on "Cop, Voight's unit, must be dirty?" he shot back. Yes, that probably wasn't the best thing to spout off, but he was tired and pissed off. He didn't do well with being accused of something he hadn't done. Who would?

Jamie held Jay by the arm as she led him towards her car. “Watch your head Detective” she wasn’t going to just slam him into the car, he still at the moment another one of them, even if he was under arrest. Innocent until proven guilty which was something that Jamie respected. Right now she was operating alone. That was because sergeant Huntley was on leave. “I want my rep” Jamie nodded. “I’ll have someone send one down. Can meet your rep when we get back to IA.” The blonde pointed out as she carefully closed the door behind him. Getting in the car on the driver side she glanced in the rearview mirror just barely as he said something about her associating Cop with Voight and Dirty. No one had said Voights unit with this. He may have said more than he intended. “Are you waiving your right to counsel detective?” Well since he wouldn’t shut up anything he said could be used, even if he did ask for a lawyer. She wasn’t questioning him. Any information that was voluntary… was still usable and he might have just slipped up. @jayhalstead

Jay scowled at the woman as she told him to watch her head. Gonna have her badge for this, he thought to himself. Seriously, what the hell was she thinking? "Where's your evidence?" he demanded again. She probably didn't have any and just automatically thought that because he was working under Voight that he was dirty. Figured though.
He nodded as she said she'd send someone down and that he could meet the rep at the IA building. "Fine," he replied. Was still going to have her badge. She probably didn't even have any evidence connecting him to what she had claimed had happened. And if that was the case, she was going to be in a crap-load of trouble.
When she asked him if he was waiving his right to counsel, he shook his head and leaned back in the seat, scowling. Yup. Definitely reporting her for this. Seriously, who the hell charged a person for murder without checking for a connection? What was she, a rookie or something?

❝ Are you seriously harassing my client ❞ Eileen was already waiting for them when they got back to IA building. "I will be having a word with my client" she stated as she narrowed eyes at Jamie. "and the cuffs some off" she pointed out to the other woman. There was a nod as Jamie uncuffed Jay in the interrogation room.
Eileen sighed tapping the table. "Come sit" she offered politely as she stood up to extend her hand. "Eileen Anderson, I'm your legal rep" she explained. It was probably obvious, but she wanted to put him a little more at ease. Eileen knew what they had on Jay and she also knew it was all circumstantial. "Take some deep breathes Jay. We can get this fixed"

Jay's eyes flickered when he saw the woman who said that she would be having a word with Jay and that his cuffs would have to come off. A few moments later, the cuffs were taken off and the woman who had arrested him walked out of the room. Good riddance, he thought to himself. Really. Didn't they teach their officers anything anymore? Or maybe it was like he had suggested and she had just seen a cop in Voight's unit and had automatically assumed that he was dirty. Not that he had any proof of this, of course. It was just a hypothesis.
At the woman's invitation, Jay sat at the table as the woman introduced herself as Eileen Anderson, saying that she was his legal rep. "Jay Halstead, but I'm gathering you already knew that," he said and then nodded as she told him to breathe and that they could get what was going on fixed. "I didn't kill this woman. Whoever she is. I wouldn't. I couldn't, unless---" he began to say and then stopped, freezing. Unless he had un-cuffed himself. Oh g-d, was that what had happened? Had he been sleepwalking or something?
