James Reagan ... ...
@salome
Salome spotted a fellow peering at the insect display, she figured maybe she should go say hello, well anyone who looked like they weren't really really busy, and well he looked nice, looked kind. She hopped off the stool she had been perched on and strolled over, dodging people as she moved. Once she got nearer she saw him turn and look towards the direction of the floor she was on, she climbed the steps and approached “Hi” she said quietly, shyly. Well her brother had demanded she go meet people…
@james
"Oh, I'm a law student."
James gave a soft smile, well that was good - that he was socialising rather than burying his head in books and papers.
"I invited some of my school friends actually, but unfortunately they could not make it tonight. A shame, but a couple are going to try and make it later.”
James gave a nod.
"What do you say we hit the punch table?"
James snorted “Sure” he indicated Wesley to lead the way, well why not - socialise man socialise.
@elijah Elijah had excused himself to make a quick phone call, as he re entered he spotted a couple entering, as they passed him he saw a pin drop to the ground, scooping it up he hurried after the couple "Sir, Sir!" he called before reaching them, he tapped the man; on the shoulder gently "Sorry, you dropped this" it was one of those pins you had in the cuffs of your shirt - cuff links.
@fletch
Fletch was busy having fun, the sort of fun he hadn't had in an age - granted, he had fun with work and kids a lot but sometimes it was nice to just get out and into socialising.
@cal
Cal glanced at Matt as they walked "So, how did you meet James?" he asked, he liked to know people's business or it was just a good conversation starter, why not, besides, they seemed tight....... notes: Elijah is talking to Sully ♡

"Hi." Loki replied glancing at Salome, returning what he thought was a casual greeting in passing, before he looked back out over the party. But as the lady stood there shyly the penny dropped. Oh, she's trying to strike up a conversation!
He turned his head back towards her, "Loki." He said with a small, friendly smile. Introducing himself with a slight nod. He knew it could be hard for some people to try and socialize with strangers at events like these, and that was the impression she gave off with her quiet, shy greeting, Loki was not one to get chatty-chatty with complete strangers, but he decided he was going to make this as easy for her as he could. Besides it was a good opportunity to get himself involved in the part. After all he had not come just to stand there and watch.
"This party has so much going on it's hard to know where to start, right?" He commented, the left side of his mouth rising in an amicable smile.
He blinked as he looked at the lady for a moment.
Then it occurred to him that she may have come over not just to meet him, but to meet him. He by no means thought that he was the catch of the day, but still it could have been a possibility. He did not have a ring on after all!
He was going to tread carefully on this one, without making it obvious, "I've gotten so used to my girlfriend jumping in and introducing me to everyone at these things that it's a little weird being here without her." He said with a light grin.
***************************************************** Punch table.
“Sure”
James motioned for Wes to lead the way and Wes happily obliged, leading James from the gallery, through the outskirts of the 'dance floor'.
"Nice moves, Cuz. Show 'em how it's done, whoo!" He shouted to Lara with a grin and light chuckle.
Encouraging her as she goofed around on the dace floor with Fletch as he and James passed by on their way to the punch table several meters from the bar.
"Two please my good sir." Wes said with a cordial smile to the gentleman manning the table.
Wesley was in a good mood tonight and it was coming out in his voice and mannerisms. "So James, may I call you James?" He began, handing James his punch.
"What's it like in your corner of the fight for justice?" He asked before taking a sip of punch, meaning what is it like to be a cop.
*************************************************** Bar.
Matt walked with Cal to the bar, passing through the 'dance floor' as they went.
A few of ladies trying to entice them to dance as they did so.
Matt smiled before sharing just a couple of smooth dance moves with a beautiful Hispanic woman as he made his way across the floor.
He smiled and shook his head as he walked away. Oh yes, this party was fun.
Matt got himself a beer, one in a glass bottle of course, and bought Cal a drink of his choice too. "So, how did you meet James?"
Matt looked at Cal, "Um, a mutual friend of ours died. He was a cop killed in the line of duty...he was murdered actually." Matt began.
"His name was Chris, he used to be in the military with James and he talked about him all the time, he was his best friend. I'd never met James of course but when Chris died I felt like I should be the one to tell him. When I did he said he was gonna fly straight in and asked me to pick him up from the airport. I did, then I offered him to stay at my place the night until he could find a hotel."
Matt smiled, "Then a night turned into a week and a week turned into two weeks until we had the funeral, and it went from there."
Matt took a sip of his beer, "Don't get me wrong, he didn't overstay his welcome. It was nice having him around while all that was going on. We helped each other through it, you know?" He thought of everything that went down in those two weeks. Hunting James down in a bar after he took off, and James being there for him in return when he overstepped the line with Chris's killer and got himself suspended for a week. Matt glanced to the floor before he looked back at Cal, a light smile flashing across his face, "I lost one friend, but I gained another."

Dance floor.
Lara looked out when she heard her cousin Wesley call out. She just gave a pearly white smile and shot him the rock symbol with her hand as she continued to dance with Fletch, her back facing him. This was the most fun she had been able to have in months, she turned around to face Fletch, "I'm glad your daughter forced you out tonight, this is the most fun I've had in a while." She said, a big smile still on here face.
****************************************************** Ground floor.
"Sir, Sir!"
The voice did not sound familiar but it sounded like it was calling after him for some reason.
Donald stopped and looked around as he felt a tap on his shoulder.
"Sorry, you dropped this"
Sullivan looked down at the object in the man's hand. It was a cuff link.
"Oh, thank you." He said, with what might have seemed like a slightly over proportionate sense of gratitude.
"Oh, bless you. That's very kind." His wife said with a pleasant smile. Not everyone would have bothered to pick it up, let alone chase someone to return it. Sullivan took the cuff link from EJ and restored it to it's place.
It was the cuff link he had gotten for his birthday, the last birthday he celebrated before his son passed, giving it a great deal of sentimental value to him. Tag: @fletch , @elijah

"Oh, thank you." EJ smiled with a simple nod “Sir” he replied curtly "Oh, bless you. That's very kind." EJ glanced at the woman and smiled softly, he was the kind of person who went out of his way for people “No problem M’am” he replied simply.

As Cal walked with Matt towards the bar he smirked as he saw a few ladies trying to entice them to dance with them, he chuckled as Matt did a few moves with one of them - once Matt had dragged himself away he continued to walk to the bar. As Matt ordered the drinks Cal gave a grateful nod "Um, a mutual friend of ours died. He was a cop killed in the line of duty...he was murdered actually." Cal knew that part, SVU was angry, but had let Homicide take care of it, but didn’t make it easier to sit back "His name was Chris, he used to be in the military with James and he talked about him all the time, he was his best friend. I'd never met James of course but when Chris died I felt like I should be the one to tell him. When I did he said he was gonna fly straight in and asked me to pick him up from the airport. I did, then I offered him to stay at my place the night until he could find a hotel." Cal gave a nod - he knew Chris in a roundabout way, they worked in the same squad room but Chris kept to himself and kept everyone away from him, Cal had worked with him once or twice but not really tight with him as Matt and James seemed to be. "Then a night turned into a week and a week turned into two weeks until we had the funeral, and it went from there." Cal gave a nod "Don't get me wrong, he didn't overstay his welcome. It was nice having him around while all that was going on. We helped each other through it, you know?" Cal nodded his agreement, it was good to have someone around to help "I lost one friend, but I gained another." Cal held up his bottle “To new and old friends” he replied “I didn’t personally know Chris but, I was at the funeral - It was a good sendoff” he said carefully.

“Hi”
When he looked back at her she smiled.
"Loki." “Salome” she replied brightly, making the effort to seem friendly.
"This party has so much going on it's hard to know where to start, right?"
Salome grinned nodding, she was pleased that someone was chatting with her - that was until he spoke again.
"I've gotten so used to my girlfriend jumping in and introducing me to everyone at these things that it's a little weird being here without her."
Salome’s smile faded and she nailed him with a look, the kind of look her brother would have manically laughed at, he called it her ‘you’re screwed’ stare “Not every woman that comes to say hi wants more than just a conversation” she retorted huffily “If you didn’t want to talk you could have said” she snorted and turning she looked across the dance floor, well - so much for making friends with people, what was it with people assuming just cause she said hello - hmph. She hadn’t made any new friends while looking after her brother and now that she was trying she was being put off.

Her bright smile caused Loki to give a friendly smile too.
“Not every woman that comes to say hi wants more than just a conversation” If you didn’t want to talk you could have said”
Loki's expression turned to a neutral frown, though his blinking increased a little with agitation as he looked at her.
"Forgive me for breathing!" He thought to himself.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. I wasn't assuming you wanted more than just a conversation. But I'm a detective and it's my job to question peoples motives, I guess that spills over into my personal life sometimes. And when a woman takes the effort to get off a stool, walks up a flight of stairs to come over and say 'hi' in a rather sheepish way, I can't help but question the motive behind it." Loki replied, his tone half apologetic, half laced with annoyed attitude.
"And I was trying to talk to you. But don't worry, it won't again." He added in a neutral tone. "Have a nice evening." He said politely before he turned to walk away.
He had come out to have a good evening, not to get into an argument with a stranger. And he thought it would be best if he walked away rather than stay and risk saying something else that might offend her.

Matt smiled and raided his bottle, "I'll drink to that."
Matt took a drink from his bottle and allowed his eyes to go out over the dance floor. He spotted Lara in her yellow dress dancing with Fletch in their fun, goofy way and he could not help but smile, "So, she likes you, huh?" He said looking back to Cal with the smile still on his face.
"Well she can't dance." He grinned amusedly, "but she's a real looker. Anything going on there, man. Or...?" He asked lightheartedly.
Given the way Cal blushed at Wesley's comment earlier Matt did not want to embarrass him, he was just being lightheartedly inquisitive. ********************************************************** Ground floor

"It's greatly appreciated, I assure you." EJ smiled back, evidently it had sentimental value, which was what EJ understood in a lot of ways "Doctor Munro?" EJ had been about to turn away when he doubled back and quirked an eyebrow “Sir?” he saw the smile, "I doubt you would remember us, but you treated our boy several years ago." EJ was quiet a moment "How are you?" "Oh, yes. EJ, if I remember correctly." EJ looked over at the wife and then back at Sullivan, EJ was good with faces, he’d recognise you if he’d spent enough time with you, but the E.R was a busy place and he wasn’t ALWAYS down there, called down often yes but he wasn’t regularly there and there were only certain people he’d recognize like regulars. However, if a child and their family had gone from the E.R and spent time up in the Paed’s ICU likely EJ would vaguely recognise you. He was still momentarily confused however, as it had clearly been a while “I’m sorry I” he shook his head a shy look on his face “I’m alright, thank you sir, m’am, hope you both are too?” If he knew their names maybe he’d recognise the child they were speaking of.

"I'll drink to that." Cal nodded approvingly before placing his bottle down to follow Matt’s gaze over to the dance floor, amused at Fletch and Lara - more Lara than Fletch however had his attention "So, she likes you, huh?" Cal’s head snapped back to Matt "Well she can't dance." if Cal could go any redder he would, he busied himself a moment with his drink "but she's a real looker. Anything going on there, man. Or...?" Cal chuckled “For a Detective, you’re pretty good” Cal retorted snorting and shaking his head, oh he was getting a kick out of it, his face color returned to normal “Just friends getting to know one another” he replied softly, curteously after a moment of gathering himself, he wasn’t sure yet if she was interested in getting into a relationship with him, and besides he wasn’t going to get ahead of himself “What about you? Got someone on your radar?” he asked turning the subject swiftly away from himself.

James chuckled “It’s okay I guess, rough and crazy a lot of the time but a cops duty’s gotta be done” he snorted and shook his head “What about you?” he asked. Really he skirted around the subject of the work he did.

Sal had heard him but she hadn’t responded because it was her view that you should go make an effort to be friendly to cops, the hell they went through meant she viewed them with the same attitude she viewed other firefighters, Doctors, Medical personnel etc - those who served - were as human as people. So really she hadn’t expected assumptions instead "And I was trying to talk to you. But don't worry, it won't again." "Have a nice evening." Sal turned just in time to see him turn to walk away “Loki as in Thor’s brother?” she asked innocently oh so innocently, loud enough for him to hear but not shouting that everyone else could hear, but there was a small smirk playing on her lips - it was her white flag so to speak and hopefully he would take it. Yes she'd snapped, and she felt foolish but she knew it was just an easy reaction to have when someone just responded like that. notes ♡

Matt could not help but notice Cal turn red before taking a drink.
He had not meant to make the man blush, he was only being curious. Besides he wanted to know if Cal was going to be interested in talking to any women tonight, mainly because a few women from the dance floor seemed to be interested in talking to them.
“For a Detective, you’re pretty good”
Matt just smiled and took another sip from his ice cold bottle. “Just friends getting to know one another”
“Nothing wrong with that.”
“What about you? Got someone on your radar?” Matt grinned and chuckled lightly, “No, not yet. I'm looking for something serious thought.”He replied casually

She was having so much fun tonight and she was glad to see him having fun too.

“It’s okay I guess, rough and crazy a lot of the time but a cops duty’s gotta be done”
Wesley nodded then took a sip of his punch. It did not take his literal genius to know that James was skimming over the topic, but he did not push it knowing a lot of cops did not like to talk about their work.
He knew it took a certain type of person to be a cop and he wondered if he would be able to to it, if his Myasthenia gravis didn't take the option from him. If he was honest with himself he knew the answer would probably be no, he wouldn't be able to do it. But he did have a huge amount of admiration for people like James who did. “What about you?”
“Oh, decidedly less exciting and decidedly safer.” He began with a light grin and a slight tip of his head, “I'm a law student and I've just started working as a legal aid, so lots of classes, lots of paperwork and not much more I'm afraid.”
Wesley looked at James, holding his glass in a had that was not shrouded my his beloved fingerless gloves for a change, “And the sadist part is that I wouldn't have it any other way.” She added with yet another smile, “I bet you wouldn't either?”Tag: @james .
******************************************************** 1st floor Loki turned and took one step away before Sal's oh so innocent voice stopped him from taking another step. “Loki as in Thor’s brother?”
He stopped and a smile began to spread over his face, a kind of smile that did not happen that often.
He looked back at Sal, the smile now fully formed as he laugh a little.
He turned to face her fully, “Uh-er, yeah.” He replied, that smile still on his face. The tension between the pair instantly gone as if it never was.
Loki had heard comments and jokes about his name before, sure. Most if not all of them had been about 'mischief', but he had truly not expected it in THAT moment.
“Well, same spelling, different people.” He quipped. Letting out another little laugh, his smile turning to just a normal one.
Loki was not anti-social, but he had a tendency to hold a lot in, to keep himself tightened up and remain relatively neutral and non emotive for the most part, at least until he had warmed up to you anyway.
But Sal's comment somehow smashed passed all that and had served to break the ice, or re-break the ice anyway. “Do you maybe wanna start again? I'm Detective Loki.” He offered, extending his hand with a smile.

“Uh-er, yeah.” Sal grinned at the smile on the man’s face, clearly she’d gotten away with it “Well, same spelling, different people.” Sal snorted giving a quiet laugh “Well, I would hope not the same person” she replied cheekily “Do you maybe wanna start again? I'm Detective Loki.” Sal took and shook his hand “Salome LeShane” she replied before letting his hand go “You probably get that a lot” she said wryly, Simon would be impressed, so very impressed with that "You come to these things a lot?" she asked.
notes: I thought bringing Lara DunCroft and Cal together would be a small idea, Matthew Cole can join??? also bringing EJ to Wesley Van De Camp and James? Not so scattered lol. I figure as you want to take Sully out you can work out whatever next? I just think we need more action as they're just standing around talking leading to very difficult replies now xD maybe mixing them up a bit would help, or we could decide to take out certain characters, i might take EJ out next post, Ive already taken Fletch out ♡

“Come on, let’s go catch up with people”
Matt was happy to follow Cal's lead. The pair had gotten their drinks and there was no point hanging around the bar while there was a party going on.
"Sounds good." He said with a smile, grabbing his drink and following Cal over to Fletch and Lara.
*************************************************************** Dance floor.
Lara had barley stepped off the dance floor when Fletch got a call and said he had to go. She could tell that there was a genuine reason he had to leave and that he was not just bailing on the party.
She offered him a ride seeing as she had brought him tonight, but he had told her to stay and have enough fun for the both of them.
Disappointing as she the pair had been having such a good time together, but that came with the territory of being a father and a health care professional.
But just as she was left standing alone Cal stepped up beside of her, with Matt following just behind.
A bright smile grew on her face as she turned to face him, "Hey!"
"You two having fun?" She said, this time smiling to them both.
"Yeah. This is the most fun I've ever has in a museum, that's for sure. " Matt joked with a cheeky grin. **********************************************************************

“Hey” "Don't think I introduced myself properly, I'm Elijah Jacob Munro, EJ"
Wesley held extended his arm and shook EJ's hand, "Wesley, Wesley Van De Camp." He said with a polite smile, introducing himself in return.
"We were just talking about our careers, and what is it you do if I may ask?" He kept it causal and polite.
A party that was not full law students or businessmen was a little out of Wesley's comfort zone and when in doubt talk about the weather, your career or sports, right? Until the ice was broken at least.

"It's nice to meet you, Salome." He said before letting her hand go.
“You probably get that a lot”
"Not as much as you might think." He replied amusedly, his brow raising slightly energetically.
"You come to these things a lot?"
Loki grinned and all but chuckled at the question, Nooooo.
He shook his head, "No..." Again his brow raising slightly energetically with his amused tone.
He was usually a lot more reserved, a lot more professional and buttoned up when interacting with people, especially new people. But Sal had somehow managed to smash straight through the restraints of his "work" self and get to his "home" self.
"...What do you do at these things anyway?" He said looking to Sal with a smile. His blinking settled back down considerably now that he was no longer annoyed. Though his tick was still quietly at work as it always was.

“Museums are more fun than you think”
"Oh I know. Don't get me wrong I enjoy looking at the exhibits as much as the next guy, but this is amazing. I mean who'd of thought a party at a museum, but this should totally catch on." Matt replies with moderate keenness.
"I know, right!" Lara agreed enthusiastically. Oh, how she would have loved to of had some of her milestone birthdays and other celebrations in a museum!
“Where did Fletch disappear off to?”
"Oh, just the joys of fatherhood." She smiled. "I offered him a lift but he told me to stay and have his fun for him, so it couldn't have been a big emergency."

“Causes trouble” “That”
Wesley smiled at the banter. The pair had obviously met before
“I’m a Paediatric Consultant at Chicago Med” “Guess you could say that’s ‘trouble’ no doubt”
"Commendable." He said with a half nod. "My cousin is an intern at Chicago Med." He commented casually. A tiney smile appearing on his face knowing how happy Lara was being there. "Must be rewarding work." He said referring to EJ's job.
As rewarding as Wesley found law school and as much as he thoroughly loved his classes and studies with his friends, he was still only preparing to practice law and was looking forwards to the day he could actually start helping people fight for justice, that would be truly rewarding for him.

“Socialise, meet new people”
"Socialize...right." He uttered with a light smirk.
Then that might call for a little liquid courage maybe. After all his girlfriend did usually introduce him at these things, and it was a little weired being there without her. A thought that crossed his mind, but he didn't say it out loud after the reaction Sal had the first time he had said it.
"Well I am here talking with you, does that count?" He japed. Half kidding, half hoping to stay there for a while longer.

(Ooc: I tagged EJ coz he hasn't been written out of the thread just yet, was thinking maybe you could have him get called into hospital or something if you want an out for him? I'm still working on ideas of what to do with our other chars and where to take this thread )

Dance Floor."Oh I know. Don't get me wrong I enjoy looking at the exhibits as much as the next guy, but this is amazing. I mean who'd of thought a party at a museum, but this should totally catch on." Cal looked sideways at Matt with an amused expression chuckling "I know, right!" "Oh, just the joys of fatherhood." Cal smirked shaking his head, Fletch was a good guy and he could tell "I offered him a lift but he told me to stay and have his fun for him, so it couldn't have been a big emergency." Cal snorted shaking his head. Tag: Lara DunCroftPunch Table."Commendable." EJ smirked "My cousin is an intern at Chicago Med." EJ had figured out it was Lara "Must be rewarding work." "Has it's moments, but it's good" EJ replied before his cellphone buzzed and he frowned, fishing it out of his inner pocket he frowned as he read the text "Excuse me" he said placing the cup down "Duty calls" he quickly shook their hands then darted off running. James watched him go and looked sideways at Wesley "So, anything of note lately?" he asked. Tag: Wesley Van De Camp1st Floor."Socialize...right." Sal laughed shaking her head, she had to admit though she had a feeling the guy was going to probably say something but had changed his mind, good cause he wouldn't make any friends doing that she surmised. "Well I am here talking with you, does that count?" Sal shrugged "Sure" she glanced at a couple of guys who looked out of place by the punch table and glanced at Loki "How about socialise with them, they look like they're running out of steam" she commented. Dance Floor.Lara looked to Cal, happy to be seeing him again, "So, how have you been?" She asked. He had phoned once or twice after the court case just to see how she was doing, but she had not seen him in person before tonight, and seeing his face could not help but bring a little coy smile to her face. 1st Floor."How about socialise with them, they look like they're running out of steam"Loki looked out over the railing towards the punch table to see the men she was referring to, "Alright." He agreed, they looked as good a place to start as any. He turned his head, looking at Sal with a light grin, "You're coming with me right?"Punch Table."Excuse me" "Duty calls""Of course." Wesley said as EJ excused himself, "Have a nice evening, Doctor." "So, anything of note lately?"
Wesley thought for a moment. There had been a few things in his classed and assignments, but that would definitely only be of note to his group of school friends, the people in that little world with him, "Umm. Hmm, no. Nothing outside of my little bubble anyway." He let out a little chuckle, "Gosh, how boring that must sound." He smiled, "What about you? Anything of note in your world?"A moment later Loki stepped over to the punch table, he got himself a drink and offered one to Sal. Taking a sip he turned to James and Wes, giving them a nod in greeting, "Hey." "Hello." Wes replied with a friendly smile. "I'm detective Loki, this is Salome." He introduced, breaking the ice.
