“Wow, you really thought this one out huh.” Theo said smiling at her, if he had a choice he would have still been with his parents but he was left to the system and a family that was twisted. Funny how life chose a lot of things for you, there was no happy parents with a nice house and a dog. Just strangers, horrors and a fast way of learning how to manipulate people to get what he wanted from them. He might even have turned out to be a straight arrow if things had taken a different turn in life.
“So you’d really want to get away from all the fun in the city for country life?” Theo asked, it seemed to be a nice idea though what could a guy like him do in the country? A quiet life might be nice but he had no experience of anything like that as he grinned. “Besides I’m sure that a hospital in the city is a lot more fun than treating bumps and scrapes in some small town?” He added figuring they had to have better cases in the city. After all the criminals were all there and no one ever got caught doing some multibillion dollar rip of deal in the country did they?
“Ah your brother huh, still needs his sister around to watch out for him?” Theo asked as he grinned lightly, “But you have to live your own life at the end of the day. I’m sure he lives his too.” Theo half wished he could take his own advice at times, he might not have been in the situation he was but then it was nice to know at least some people still stuck with family.

"He's a mother hen!" Isla declared, glancing at Theo with a grin before turning her attention back to the road. "We'll never be far apart...I mean, we're not going to be as close as he'd like, but he had to take over after Dad died...we were pretty young, so he..." she shrugged, "that's just been his life, looking after us, so I don't think that's ever going to stop." Sometimes it was stifling and it really pissed her off, but she always understood and eventually would forgive him even if she didn't like it! "And yeah, I guess it's more exciting to be in a big-city hospital, but sometimes, when you're treating the forth or fifth shooting victim of the night, or the gazillionth overdose or suicide stunt, you start to wonder about humans." She let out a breath, silent for a moment, then commented, "I just want to be sure I don't burn out." After a quick laugh, she added, "That's what the parkour is for...blowing off steam by running up walls and jumping off buildings! You should try it some time." Theodore Bennett

Theo smiled back hearing about her brother, must have been nice having one like that he thought. A good family, he happily listened to Isla talking about hers. “Ah so he’s stuck in that role of parent and brother. Can’t say I know what it’s like to have a sibling look out for me but it must be nice to know you can count on someone.” He added not really sure having little to no experience of that sort of thing.
His parents had been amazing, until he got stuck with the rest of his family and life pretty much took a harsh turn after that. “Oh I wonder about humans all day, guess at the hospital you do get to see the worst but you never know. People can change and maybe a hospital trip is what some need to realise they have to change?” He suggested, though in the overall of life. Seeing the same thing in mass numbers had to be tough to deal with even for the professionals.
“You realise that makes you sound nuts right?” Theo said as he laughed, oh great no wonder he got the crazy one. There was a reason you never accepted lifts from the graveyard. “Jumping off walls and buildings as a medical professional, surely you can’t really say that’s a good life choice?” He asked her not really so sure it was a safe thing to do. So yes, he had dangled himself off a building with ropes and wires and so on to steal, he had thrown himself head first into a whole number of situations but not ones where he actually wanted to jump off a building.

"Yeah, I guess it does sound a little crazy, huh?" Isla shrugged then grinned. "It's a good way to blow off steam, though, take out the frustrations. My other project is to maybe take up some sort of martial arts...I've taken self-defense, but I want something more...in depth, in case I run into a stranger in a graveyard in the middle of the night!" At that, she laughed as she turned the car onto the main highway. There wasn't much traffic at this time of the morning, and the rain had let up, so driving was easy. "I let someone get the drop on me," she explained, "and the cost was almost too high...I'm not going to let that happen again." She would have been mortified if Steven had ended up in prison because of her poor choices. She shrugged. "That's why I think I'm going to just be the crazy lady on the block who feeds stray cats and talks to plants!" Theodore Bennett,

“Good choice, you never know who you’ll meet in graveyards in the middle of the night.” He said with a laugh, there were never truer words spoken as that night he had met a few people already. Isla was seeming to be the nicest so far, unless she was about to pull out the shovel from the boot of the car and ask him to start digging.
“Sounds like a good plan to me, the only people in life that will look out for yourself is you.” He said with a shrug having no other way to think about it. “Once is a mistake, twice is fooled you and three times you really should know better.” Theo added, it made sense to him as well to think like that. Once was a mistake in general, twice was his mistake and if anything made it to three it really needed to be taken care of before things went to hell.
“Somehow I doubt that will be you.” Theo said as he glanced over at Isla, “Not saying there’s anything wrong with cats because they are the kings of the world. Anyone who has a cat is owned by the cat not the other way around and their balancing skills are second to none. Plants though... unless you can find some good space in Chicago, it’s a window box and a hope that the fumes don’t kill the plants.” He joked with a grin. Plenty of people had nice gardens but then that general meant they could earn millions and have a gardener for that.

"Oh, well, I can grow an avocado seed in a jar...it's free, and includes guacamole, and someday you'l have your own tree." With a grin, Isla shrugged. "And if it dies, no problem, it was free. And I think plants know that...if you pay a lot for one, it knows you're out a lot if it dies, so you'll put more effort into keeping it alive. Cheap ones, though...they know they're living on borrowed time!" For a moment, she paused, then added, "I don't plan on a second chance mistake, and I know I'm not alone...I'm lucky that way, and I do appreciate what Steven does for me, even if it drives me nuts sometimes!" In fact, she couldn't imagine having to muddle through without her brother and sister, or how she'd manage alone. "Funny thing is, though, it's because of family that I think I could manage if I have to, and I'm glad I don't." She turned the car off the freeway and into the downtown streets, smiling as she looked out over the glittering lights. "You know, as ugly as this place can be sometimes, it sure is pretty like this...after rain, at night when there's hardly anything going on. The way the lights reflect off the water makes it look like a Kincade painting." Theodore Bennett,
