[attr="class","Briggsner"] [attr="class","Briggsner1"] [attr="class","Briggsback"] [attr="class","Briggsnert"]Vanessa was worrying herself sick at home. After an hour of worry and unanswered attempts at making contact. Vanessa knew she was in for the night. Convincing Anderson to go in search of Aria hadn’t been very hard. She’d sent Elizabeth with him. Anderson and Elizabeth didn’t take long to track down Aria’s phone. What teenager really turned their phone off? Even if it had died, they knew they could triangulate her last known location. It was a starting place. It was nice to have hooks in the CPD. Though that meant now they had a tag along. With the information they had, by the looks of it when they arrived they were going to have to ask more favors from the CPD. The phone put them right here. Anderson dropped names and flashed his credentials wiggling in and out of the officers. That's when he looked up to see two figures run when he’d arrived. Looking at the exact location of the phone again, he noticed the phone too was on the move. He let out a sigh dragging Elizabeth with him. Anderson moved to block the main entrance to the room. “I don’t suggest running again Miss Campbell.” Great now he was starting to sound like Martin. When the CPD came to the door Anderson waved them off. “Mrs. Cross will take custody of the both of them.” Yeah Zach was getting a get out of jail free card too. Anderson wasn’t pleased. Anderson was very hard to anger but the state he’d left Vanessa in; yeah he was a bit angry. The CPD officer who had originally accompanied him left to go get some paperwork while Anderson and Elizabeth spoke to the two teenagers. That didn’t mean that some weren’t still right outside. “You are lucky that I am not turning your friend here over to CPD.” No, he would turn Zach over to his mother at a later time. Anderson had been FBI; he knew how the system worked and the detail was granted a lot of leniency with the CPD. Anderson glanced at Elizabeth who was blocking the secondary exit from the room. Though the woman was silent. There was no need for her to say anything. Post here [attr="class","Briggsner2"] [attr="class","Briggsnerlyric"]The level of paranoia in this house has gone DEFCON

[attr="class","Ariatitle"] [attr="class","Aria"] [attr="class","Ariabox"]everything's made to be broken, i just want you to know who i am [attr="class","Ariamain"] Aria smiled, closing her eyes as she felt Zach playing with her hair. “I was. My parents were really freaked out too” she explained. Aria could still remember that day vividly well. It was probably the worst night of her life, but it ended well because Evan and Vanessa had decided to take her in. Letting out a small hum, Aria gave Zach a small smile. “Tonight is your craziest night? We’ll have to fix that then” she responded. “That is if you’re up for going on more adventures” Aria usually preferred sticking to herself, she did things on her own more often than not. However, the sixteen year old liked hanging around Zach. He was sweet and quiet which made him even more adorable in Aria’s opinion. She could get use to hanging out with him. “If we need to run again...we can”Aria knew they needed to get up and leave. They couldn’t stay here forever, but she was comfortable. However, if it were possible then Aria would’ve loved to stay like this. They needed to run though, and get away from the police. She was just about to open her mouth to respond, but was stopped by the sound of Anderson’s voice. Almost immediately Aria sat up, her eyes widen open in surprise and fear. The sixteen year old knew Anderson, given he was apart of Vanessa’s security detail. And if he was here, then that could only mean her adoptive parents had sent him to look for her. Aria’s first thought was to run, so she instinctively reached for Zach’s hand and hauled him up with her. No way was she leaving Zach alone in this mess. Looking around the area though, she realized there wasn’t anywhere they could really go. There was no way Aria and Zach could outrun Anderson and Elizabeth. “Mrs. Cross will take custody of the both of them”At the mention of Vanessa, Aria’s face visibly paled. “Oh shit” she said. No doubt Vanessa and Evan wouldn’t be too pleased when they learned about the reason why Aria hadn’t been answering her phone. Judging the loon on Anderson’s face, he wasn’t very pleased either and Aria found herself subconsciously taking a few steps away and trying to make herself appear as small as possible. Out of all the possible outcomes for tonight, Aria had not expected this to happen. She had expected to be able to go home, and make her way back to her room without questions being asked. That plan had been thrown at the window though the moment she missed curfew, and even worse, she was now going to be brought home by Vanessa’s security detail. “You are lucky that I am not turning your friend here over to CPD.”“Anderson, he had nothing to do with this. It was all my idea” Aria explained, trying to make sure her words didn’t slur together. Though, it wouldn’t be that hard to tell that she had been drinking. The smell, combined with the fact that it was a high school party was a dead give-away. “Can’t we just drop Zach off at his house?” she asked, though it came out more as a whine. Aria was protective of the people she cared about and if she could help Zach get off the hook, then she would. [attr="class","Zachnah"] [attr="class","Zachleft"] [attr="class","Zachleft2"] | [attr="class","Zachright"] Zach had trouble wrapping his mind around what he'd heard, though the alcohol could have been interfering. Aria had been caught in a dangerous explosion, but still insisted on testing the limits. Aria must have had more to drink than he had, for those words to be coming out of her mouth. "Fix that? Why would you want crazy? Normal is… comfortable. Safe."In Zach's mind, those weren't bad things. His idea of an adventure consisted of living vicariously through his Half-Elf rogue. The adventuring party faced countless perils in their campaign, from beholders to pit fiends, so Dungeons and Dragons could provide plenty of excitement. Plus, fewer explosions were always good. A stern figure approached them from one side, while a woman flanked them on the other, but it was the man who spoke, referring to someone in the third person. Mrs. Cross – Aria's mother, no doubt. Zach got pulled to his feet, eyes settling on the big, hulking figure, where Aria's attention appeared to be too. This Anderson was another story entirely. He looked like the law enforcement type. Not the type to run from – not that Zach was giving serious thought to it. Zach looked like a deer caught in the headlights. For the second time in his life, he found himself in a compromising, illegal position. How had he not learned his lesson the first time? There weren't a lot of ways this could be worse. Maybe if he'd been holding a cup of that spiked punch in his hand. This wasn't all Aria's idea, so letting her take the blame wouldn't be right. Pushing any thought of self-preservation aside, Zach spoke up, his voice timid and small. They needed to own up to what they'd done. Face the consequences, significant as they were certain to be. "We made some mistakes. We'll come with you."Anderson Briggs, Aria Campbell [attr="class","Zachright2"] |

[attr="class","Briggsner"] [attr="class","Briggsner1"] [attr="class","Briggsback"] [attr="class","Briggsnert"]Anderson knew the signs of drinking when he saw it. They were both plastered. That was going to be a wonderful discussion once they got to the Cross residence. Aria fumbling and lying did nothing to win her brownie points. There was just silence in response to her covering up and her question about Zach and being dropped off at his house. No way was that going to happen. Not with Anderson pulling a favor with the CPD. He hated to use them but it was that or let the two sit in jail for a night. Though on second thought it might do them some good. Though Zach seemed like a reasonable person, at least from his response of owning up to things. Someone had taught him well and for that he gained some respect from Anderson. Though he was going to make sure that Zach was given to his guardian with an explanation. That’s the only way he would cover his butt later with the CPD. They shouldn’t even be releasing Zach to him in the first place; but it was nice to have connections. Anderson pointed at his vehicle. Elizabeth still stood in silence along the otherside. The officer that was on scene was also making sure that neither teen took of running. That was not in the best interest since they were technically in police custody at the moment. Anderson still said nothing else to the pair of teenagers. He wasn’t one to voice his disappointment more than needed to be. He knew that Vanessa wouldn't take things well once she had the story; one that Anderson would mostly have to sift through in the car when it came to lies or anything else. He was very disappointed in Aria for her attempts at covering with a lie. Something he knew he would have to deal with. There were already talks of handing Aria a detail; but he wasn't about to voice that opinion but this might have changed his mind since he thought it wasn't as necessary since she wasn't a target. Though at this rate... he might side with Vanessa later. [attr="class","Briggsner2"] [attr="class","Briggsnerlyric"]The level of paranoia in this house has gone DEFCON

[attr="class","Ariatitle"] [attr="class","Aria"] [attr="class","Ariabox"]everything's made to be broken, i just want you to know who i am [attr="class","Ariamain"] Aria visibly deflated when Anderson said nothing, instead just pointing them to his vehicle. The sixteen year old could tell that he wasn’t happy. Letting out a small sigh, Aria looked over at Zach. “come on, Zach” she mumbled as she walked over to the vehicle. They were in for a long ride, it seemed. “I swear, it’s not what it looks like” Aria called over her shoulder to Anderson and Elizabeth. She knew she would have to explain things eventually. Once in the back seat, Aria let out a frustrated groan. “Evan and Vanessa are going to kill me” she said, looking up at the roof of the vehicle. If Anderson was this disappointed, then Aria could only imagine how her adoptive parents would react. No doubt she wouldn’t be allowed out of the house for awhile. “Can I see your phone real quick?” Aria asked Zach. “I want to give you my number, because I probably won’t be allowed out of the house anytime soon. My parents are kinda in charge of Cross Consolidated and WhitTech, so they can be a bit...overprotective” Aria originally had no intention of telling Zach who her adoptive parents were, but given the situation they were currently in it wouldn’t be fair to keep him in the dark. At least this way, Aria was hoping to lessen the blow and shock some. The sixteen year old waited until they were driving before trying to say anything, instead choosing to fiddle with her phone as she debated on whether or not she should message Evan and Vanessa. Several times, Aria would open her messages and type something out, only to delete it and close the app. The sixteen year old knew she was screwed whether she messaged them or not. After another minute or two, Aria looked up at Anderson and Elizabeth. “I know you’re both angry, but it’s not as bad as it looks” she began. It probably looked worse, and Aria knew that. She had missed curfew, ignored her phone, and was at a party that the police had to break up. Not to mention that Aria had been drinking. So it really did not look good. “It was supposed to be a small party. The kid’s parents weren’t home, so they invited some people over. More and more kept showing up, but things were under control. The music was a little loud, but it didn’t seem bad, ya know?” Aria explained, leaving out the part about the alcohol. There wasn’t much to say about that, except that somebody had mixed it with the punch. “I wasn’t even supposed to be there, but an old friend of mine wanted to hang out and they got invited, and so I tagged along” Aria didn’t say anything after that, instead choosing to lean back in her seat. Subconsciously, Aria rested her head against Zach’s shoulder. “I’m sorry you’re getting dragged into this” she mumbled before returning her gaze to the front of the car, though Aria kept her head on Zach’s shoulder. “How mad are Evan and Vanessa?” Zach Harris, Anderson Briggs [attr="class","Ariabox2"]all this time i was finding myself, and i didn't know i was lost [newclass=".Ariatitle"]margin-top:20px;width:361px;text-align:left;font-size:39px;font-family:Montserrat;color:#A346FF;[/newclass] [newclass=".Aria"]padding-top:8px;margin-top:-20px;width:350px;height:515px;background-image:url('https://cdn.nickpic.host/images/pQY48G.jpg');border-left:5px solid #A346FF;[/newclass] [newclass=".Ariabox"]width:315px;padding:10px;padding-top:0px;font-family:montserrat;color:#9B988E;font-size:9px;border-bottom:1px solid white;[/newclass] [newclass=".Ariabox2"]margin-top:-5px;position:justify;width:315px;padding:10px;font-family:montserrat;color:#9B988E;font-size:9px;border-top:1px solid white;[/newclass] [newclass=".Ariamain"]margin-top:10px;padding:15px;width:305px;background-color:white;height:414px;color:black;overflow:auto;font-size:10px;opacity:0;-webkit-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; -moz-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; -ms-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; -o-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s;[/newclass] [newclass=".Ariamain:hover]opacity:.8;-webkit-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1.5s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; -moz-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1.5s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; -ms-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1.5s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; -o-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1.5s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1.5s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.Ariamain b]color:#A346FF;[/newclass] [newclass=.Ariamain::-webkit-scrollbar]width:3px;[/newclass] [newclass=.Ariamain::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#4646FF;[/newclass] [newclass=.Ariacred]font-size:8px;letter-spacing:2px;[/newclass] [Googlefont="Montserrat"]

[attr="class","Zachnah"] [attr="class","Zachleft"] [attr="class","Zachleft2"] | [attr="class","Zachright"] Ordered to the waiting vehicle, Zach marched in that direction, but his path wasn't a straight line. Stumbling and weaving, he managed enough coordination to get himself in the back seat and put his seatbelt on. That last part proved to be the hardest. With Aria now beside him in the car, Zach handed over his phone. Not that he'd be alive later to call, but when a cute girl wanted to enter her number, you didn't think all those details through. He gulped when Aria started explaining, suddenly looking very nervous. Everyone in the city knew about Cross Consolidated and WhitTech. Even people who weren't well versed in business. WhitTech was a major local company. And Cross Consolidated? Don't even get him started there. Cross Consolidated was like... Apple or Amazon. Considering who Aria's parents apparently were, it looked like his inevitable fate would be fast approaching. He loved his mom, but she didn't have quite the same influence as two prominent CEOs. Zach kept glancing into the front seat where the two adults were sitting. He wouldn't be planning a masterful escape, but it wasn't hard to put the pieces together. The woman, whatever her name was, hadn't said much of anything to this point, but she looked stern and unhappy. The other one -- Aria had called him Anderson -- looked equally irate. Both much be private security employed by one of the companies. He didn't envy Aria beginning to explain what had happened. Zach didn't tell lies. His mother had taught him better than that and the alcohol just made him more honest. So when Aria finished telling the story, Zach started filling in the remaining gaps. "I think someone spiked the punch. It was really good, Mr. Anderson. I think I'm drunk."For someone so new to alcohol, Zach had been intoxicated since the first cup. Any resistance to the night's entertainment went right down the drain with his sobriety. "We ended up playing a game. It seemed harmless. Several of the other kids played too."Anderson Briggs , Aria Campbell [attr="class","Zachright2"] |

[attr="class","Whitmorener"] [attr="class","Whitmorener1"] [attr="class","Whitmoreback"] [attr="class","Whitmorenert"]Despite the talking taking place in the backseat, Anderson and Elizabeth had nothing more to say. Not that Elizabeth had said anything to say in the first place. It was some thirty minutes later when Anderson pulled into the Cross driveway. Elizabeth had already alerted Vanessa and Evan both that the two security personnel were on their way back to the house with Aria. That meant a barefoot and pregnant Vanessa was wide awake when she didn’t need to be. Holding a cup of tea in her hand when she heard Anderson and the others coming in the house she set it down on the counter with a heavy sigh. Vanessa didn’t even like kids. That didn’t mean she didn’t love her children (Aria included) but it was times like this that made her mind up for her. Children were a pain in the ass. Vanessa waddled out of the kitchen. "What am I supposed to do with her?" The rhetorical question was aimed in Cameron's direction but she continued to walk towards the door. She’d probably woken half the house, if not all of it some hours ago. If it weren’t for the fact the kitchen floors were made of tile, one could be sure she’d probably have worn a hole in the carpeting. Vanessa and worry did not mix. “Aria Madelyn Campbell” The voice was full of worry but also disappointment. [attr="class","Ariatitle"] [attr="class","Aria"] [attr="class","Ariabox"]everything's made to be broken, i just want you to know who i am [attr="class","Ariamain"] Seeing her house come into view, Aria felt her stomach drop. She knew she would have some explaining to do, and that wasn’t something she was looking forward to. As nervous as she was though, Aria could only imagine what Zach was feeling. “It’ll be okay. Evan and Vanessa aren’t bad. They’re actually really nice” Aria said, trying to reassure Zach. She didn’t want him worrying too much, because her adoptive parents were good people. Though, the sixteen year old didn’t know how they would react with her missing curfew. Aria wasn’t about to mention that though. Walking into the house, Aria looked around. She was tempted to head to her room and try to avoid the lecture that was bound to happen. Before Aria could make her way to her bedroom though, Vanessa was there. “Aria Madelyn Campbell”Wincing, Aria turned to face Vanessa. She could hear the disappointment and worry in her adoptive mother’s voice, and Aria couldn’t help but feel guilty. They were all in for a long night, it seemed. “Hey Vanessa. Sorry about not answering my phone. It was on silent so I didn’t hear it, and I didn’t realize how late it had gotten” Aria explained, trying to keep it vague. She wanted to avoid explaining everything that had happened at the party if it was possible. “This is Zach by the way” Aria continued, motioning to Zach. “He’s a...friend of mine. Zach, this is Vanessa. She's my adoptive mom" Looking around the room, Aria tried to come up with some way to change the subject. "Where's Kipper? I haven't walked him since before I left earlier. Poor guy probably needs to go out" Aria asked, looking back at Vanessa. Aria was hoping that by asking about the dog, she could change the subject. She just hoped Vanessa wouldn’t catch on to what she was trying to do, though that wasn’t likely. Still, Aria was going to try. She would do anything to delay a lecture. “Where’s Evan? I should probably let him know that I’m okay too. He was trying to get a hold of me earlier too” Aria explained, which was true. She had several calls and texts from both Evan and Vanessa. Though, Aria wasn’t sure if she wanted to deal with Evan right now too. Her adoptive father had a tendency to be rather overprotective, and the sixteen year old could only imagine how he would react to her missing curfew. [attr="class","Zachnah"] [attr="class","Zachleft"] [attr="class","Zachleft2"] | [attr="class","Zachright"] Zach was in scalding hot water and his mom hadn't even been called yet. He could feel the water heating up the more they drove. Mostly because he knew they were getting closer to their final destination. Somewhere out in the middle of nowhere since they'd left the suburban neighborhoods behind. Did Aria live on a farm or something? Either that or he was being taken to a remote forest location to be murdered. His mom always said not to travel with strangers. Hopefully this was just an overactive drunk imagination at work. As the car pulled up into the driveway, the two security personnel ushered everyone out of the vehicle and towards the house. Once inside, Zach immediately came face to face with a pregnant woman and he swallowed hard. This is the part where he got reamed by the parents for not only associating with Aria, but getting drunk in the process. So, if that was Vanessa Whitmore, that only left Evan Cross. No doubt Zach would be seeing him soon. Aria's earlier assurances had done little to convince him. When Aria introduced him, Zach managed a shy little wave. This really wasn't the way he envisioned this evening going, but what else was he supposed to do? Vanessa must have already smelt the alcohol on them. He couldn't say anything to make this situation better. "Right here," Evan replied. Zach only needed to glance over his shoulder, using his peripheral vision, to see Aria's adoptive father now standing behind the two teenagers, his arms crossed, and looking rather irate with both of them. As upset as Evan was, they might be getting it worse from Vanessa, who was both pregnant and hormonal. That would not be a combination working in their favor tonight. "I'm very disappointed in you, Aria."Aria Campbell , Vanessa Whitmore-Cross [attr="class","Zachright2"] |

[attr="class","Ashtonner"] [attr="class","Ashtonner1"] [attr="class","Ashtonback"] [attr="class","Ashtonnert"]Nothing around the Whitmore-Cross household was ever normal. Ever. Maxwell had adjusted to that fact of life. Usually he worked the same shift as Samantha but today, he was filling in an extra shift since Walter was home with the flu. He couldn’t wait until 6am at shift change to see Martin and Reese’ faces. This was getting to be ridiculous. Kipper was getting older but that didn’t mean that he was ever neglected. In fact, Maxwell loved to spend time with the dog when he could. Though on this particular evening, what he heard as he walked into the room where Dr. and Mrs. Cross were standing with their adoptive daughter was enough to make him on edge. He had lost custody of his young son and he certainly wasn’t about to discipline Aria, as that was out of line but he couldn’t help but respond to her trying to change the subject on the Cross’. "You mean this dog, the one you neglected when you missed your curfew" His tone was accompanied by a knowing glare. Catching the ‘keep your mouth shut’ look from Vanessa he took Kipper into the other room. Out of sight out of mind. To be honest, he didn’t envy Evan or Vanessa in this instance. Maxwell had lost custody of his son for stupid reasons but he did miss raising him. This had to be some rebellious phase with Aria. He wondered just how much thought she put into how much the family had done for her. [attr="class","Ashtonner2"] [attr="class","Ashtonnerlyric"]Opening my mouth causes all the trouble

[attr="class","Whitmorener"] [attr="class","Whitmorener1"] [attr="class","Whitmoreback"] [attr="class","Whitmorenert"]One thing Vanessa hated was excuses. Aria trying to “not hear her phone” only made the hormonal Vanessa more irate. “You won’t have to worry about not hearing it. Hand it here. If you can’t bother to answer it, then you don’t need it.” Vanessa could be very calm when she was angry. Not everything had to be a shouting match. Then came the introduction to Zach, as if Aria thought this was some kind of party or something. Well, in the very least it was a name to go off of. “Yes, well Anderson will be contacting Zach’s parents.” That was the end of that conversation. Not that Vanessa could really say much to Zach, his actions were for her parents to decide. However, Vanessa did have a few words towards Zach. “But perhaps you should choose friends who don’t think it’s amusing to keep you out past curfew while being on the run from law enforcement.” That was all Vanessa was going to say on the matter. She was about to see what Evan had to say on the matter when Aria brought up Kipper. That’s when Maxwell came in from outside. Having walked the dog. The very same dog that Aria was worried about. Then Maxwell had to shoot his big mouth off. Vanessa gave Maxwell a cold stare. Though she was certain more than one person in the room had thought it, Maxwell would be the only one who dared to say it. Though some things were better left unsaid. “You need to worry about yourself right now and not the dog.” Vanessa loved Kipper and between everyone in the household got plenty of love and attention. On cue, Evan lingered behind and Vanessa heard him announce his presence before she could have a response to that. Vanessa shared the sentiment that Evan had in being disappointed in Aria. Rubbing the bridge of her nose near her sinus cavity Vanessa sighed. Right foot tapping at a slow enough pace to keep her calm. The exhale that followed would give her away if her tones hadn't already. She’s been worried and now she was frustrated. Stress was taking its toll on her. At least for now the twins were asleep upstairs. Clearly the only thing going right tonight. [attr="class","Ariatitle"] [attr="class","Aria"] [attr="class","Ariabox"]everything's made to be broken, i just want you to know who i am [attr="class","Ariamain"] “So you’re going to take my phone away because I didn’t answer it? I literally couldn’t hear it going off! How is that my fault?” Aria asked, though she reluctantly handed her phone over to Vanessa. It wasn’t like she had much of a choice though. “Yes, well Anderson will be contacting Zach’s parents.”Aria immediately turned to look at Zach, giving him a concerned look. He was going to get in trouble because of some decisions the sixteen year old had made. She had been the one to approach him at the party and follow him around. Had Aria just left him alone, rather then choosing to mess with him. Because of that, Aria was going to make sure she took as much of the blame for this mess as possible. “Hey, look at me” Aria mumbled to Zach, reaching for his hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze. “It’s going to be okay” “But perhaps you should choose friends who don’t think it’s amusing to keep you out past curfew while being on the run from law enforcement.”Aria shot Vanessa a glare, though she also looked hurt at the statement. Aria hadn’t meant to miss curfew, and she had ran from law enforcement because she had already been in trouble with them once. She didn’t need to get on their bad side again. “It wasn’t even Zach’s fault” Aria argued, letting go of Zach’s hand so she could cross her arms over her chest. “I was the one that approached him at the party and started talking to him. So just leave him out of this, okay?” “And as for the curfew and law enforcement, I didn’t find it amusing. Do you think I just intentionally break curfew or something? Because I don’t!” Aria continued. In the past, she would have. But then again it wasn’t like her curfew had really been enforced then. Here though, Aria was trying. There had been times she had tried, and failed, to sneak out. But that was just a part of being a teen. “I was already in trouble with the law once, and I got lucky that time. I didn’t want it happening again so I ran. And I took Zach too because I’m not the kind of person to leave someone behind” And then there was Maxwell with Kipper. Aria should have kept her mouth shut and let Vanessa handle it, but Aria loved Kipper and had since she came to live with Vanessa and Evan. She wouldn’t intentionally neglect the dog. “I didn’t intentionally forget about him!” Aria said. “You need to worry about yourself right now and not the dog.”“Oh my gosh” Aria replied, with an exasperated look as she threw her hands in the air. “You’re literally treating me like I’m some sort of bad person. It was literally a party. Teenagers go to them all the time. You can’t tell me you didn’t go to any growing up, Vanessa” The sixteen year old probably would have kept going except that was when Evan decided to make himself known. So it looked like this night could get worse then. That was just great. “Shit” Aria mumbled under her breath as she turned to face Evan. “You’re not the only one disappointed in me tonight, Evan” Aria stated, rolling her eyes though a part of her did feel guilty. Evan and Vanessa had taken her in and provided her a family and a place to stay. They trusted her, and this is how she repaid them. Heaving a sigh, Aria glanced at Evan and Vanessa. “Both of you are overreacting and treating me like a child. I’m not a child though. I’m sixteen” she explained, looking annoyed. “I’m a teenager, okay? That means I go out. And sometimes I stay out late, or stay up late. It’s just what I do. Hell, before I came here there were times I wouldn’t come home at all. Be lucky I haven’t tried that here” Aria said. She was testing the two at this point, trying to see just how far she could push. It was a habit of hers. [attr="class","evannah"] [attr="class","evanleft"] [attr="class","evanleft2"] | [attr="class","evanright"] To say Evan was disappointed would be putting it mildly. When he and Vanessa had taken Aria into their home, he'd done so knowing the young teenager's troubled history. There was always the risk of that behavior surfacing once again. And here she was, pushing those very boundaries. Yet Evan had believed her capable of change, if placed in the right environment. Even now, he still believed that. As irate as Evan was, a pregnant Vanessa would be much, much worse, but Aria had made this bed herself. The ramifications were hers alone to bear. Evan held up a finger, indicating Aria should stop while she was behind. She was only digging the already massive hole deeper. As a child, Evan religiously followed the rules. He didn't expect his children to be perfect growing up, but they needed to own up to their mistakes and grow from them. Aria's current attitude spoke volumes. She hadn't learned from this experience at all. "Stop right there, Aria. You need to think about how your actions affect other people – in this case, your parents. Because you couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone and make a call, we've spent the entire night thinking the worst. That you'd been in an accident or worse."Evan didn't need Nate or Liz's expertise to smell the alcohol on his daughter and her friend. Too many teens thought drinking cool or trendy, but it could be dangerous. He wouldn't take away her computer, like Vanessa had just done with her phone, but he could use his extensive knowledge of tech to his advantage. Evan would restrict Aria's computer access. Maybe reading first-hand testimonials, preaching the dangers of drinking, would help straighten out her behavior. Keep her from viewing anything else online. "That kind of blatant disregard might be topped by your choice to get drunk."As for Aria's young friend, Evan observed, it seemed like he was too petrified to do or say much of anything. He and Vanessa still needed to address Zach's role in this by calling his own parents, but they could deal with that in a few minutes. Aria still needed a major attitude adjustment first. [attr="class","Whitmorener"] [attr="class","Whitmorener1"] [attr="class","Whitmoreback"] [attr="class","Whitmorenert"] “That’s not my problem.” Vanessa spoke in regards to Aria’s attitude about Vanessa taking the phone. Vanessa took the phone from Aria as she could hear more arguing starting. Oh hell to the no. “I don’t care whose fault it was. He didn’t stop you therefore you are both equally as guilty.” Vanessa also knew that as a CI this was going to end up going straight to Cole. “You do realize this incident will be going straight to Detective Cole and there is nothing I can do to step in. That is a consequence you have to face.” Vanessa brought up. “Evan is right, actions have consequences, perhaps I should have let the CPD take you into custody.” Though she knew it wouldn’t make much of an impact if it hadn’t the first time. “But I didn’t. But that doesn’t mean you won’t face consequences at home.” Vanessa was livid. “Actions speak louder than words Aria. Until I’m proven wrong, I am not accepting that as an excuse.” People changed but Aria had a lot to prove to her. “Running doesn’t get you out of trouble with the law Aria. It puts you in more. Then you take him and endanger whatever future he has. That’s not the brightest idea you have ever had.” Vanessa heard Maxwell’s comment about neglecting the dog she thought it was a bit misplaced but he wasn’t entirely wrong. “I didn’t go to a party until I had already graduated college.” The same could not be said for her best friend Teresa. “So I can say that at 16 no, I didn’t go to any parties.” Of course Vanessa heard Aria’s cursing, when Evan spoke up. “Watch your mouth.” It was more of a sneer than anything else. “And don’t you dare roll your eyes at him. He’s disappointed because he cares.” Something Aria clearly couldn’t comprehend or if she was comprehending it she was being a little too stuck up for her own good. “According to the law you are a child until you turn 18 years of age. You want to be treated like an adult you start acting like one. That’s how this works.” Vanessa was not happy and was clearly not hiding it. “I’m a parent, it means I am going to discipline you in hopes you don’t do something that stupid again, even when my teenager is sitting here giving me attitude about the right ‘to be a teenager.’ ” Vanessa pushed past Evan. Not sticking around long enough to hear Aria’s excuses. “I changed my mind. Zach come with me. I will be making that phone call personally.” She pointed into the other room. Yes, she was separating the two but right now she didn’t care how the two felt about that. Aria was lucky that Vanessa had even picked up Zach in the first place. Though Vanessa was so done with Aria for the night, she’d be hard pressed to get a word out of Vanessa anymore than she already had and Vanessa was a queen of holding grudges when she wanted to do so. Grabbing the landline phone Vanessa handed it to Zach. “You can dial a family member or I will.” It was a choice though her wording didn’t sound like she was too happy at all, though there was no threatening tone towards Zach. [attr="class","Ariatitle"] [attr="class","Aria"] [attr="class","Ariabox"]everything's made to be broken, i just want you to know who i am [attr="class","Ariamain"] As annoyed as Aria was with her adoptive parents right now, she knew Vanessa had a point. Detective Cole was probably going to end up hearing about this, and Aria was going to have to deal with it. She hadn’t thought about that, but Aria wasn’t going to admit it. “If detective Cole brings it up next time we talk, then I’ll handle it. I don’t need you stepping in every time, Vanessa” “I wasn’t in an accident or anything else, Evan. I’m fine. There wasn’t any explosion to get caught in this time, so you don’t have to worry” Aria retorted. And then of course her adoptive father would bring up the drinking. “I didn’t even realize I had been drinking. All I had was the punch. How was I supposed to know someone spiked it with alcohol?” She asked, though Aria had her suspicions about it. She knew that the punch had tasted off, but she had chosen to keep drinking it. “Evan is right, actions have consequences, perhaps I should have let the CPD take you into custody.”Aria knew that her adoptive parents were just trying to get her to think, but right now she didn’t care. “Then why didn’t you?” Aria asked. “Nobody said you had to send Anderson to come get me. It wouldn’t have been the first time I was in their custody!” she wasn’t complaining though. Aria was relieved that she was here and not in police custody. “But I didn’t. But that doesn’t mean you won’t face consequences at home.”Aria scoffed at this. She knew there was going to be consequences at home given Vanessa had already taken her phone away and still didn’t look pleased. Though, Aria was pushing her at this point. “You already took my phone, what more do you want? My laptop, or even my bike?” She probably would have said more, but Vanessa kept going. Instead, Aria stood there with her arms crossed and an annoyed expression. Vanessa explaining to Aria that she was a child until she was eighteen was the straw that broke the camel’s back. That was something Aria knew too well. She used to long for her eighteenth birthday so that she could finally settle down somewhere and not worry about how long she would be staying there. As Vanessa left the room with Zach, Aria gave the two of them one last look before looking to Evan. She was angry, but she was also hurt. One thing Aria didn’t want to do however was cry in front of one of her adoptive parents, and that was something she was about to do if she didn’t get away from here. “Are we done here?” Aria asked, her voice already starting to crack as she tried to hold her emotions in. “Because I can’t be here right now. I can’t deal with this” Shaking her head, Aria aggressively wiped at her face as a few tears started to spill from her eyes before making her way to the stairs. “Forget it. I’m just going to go to my room. If Vanessa wants to storm out of a room, then I can too. Goodnight Evan” Aria took the stairs two at a time, trying to put as much distance between her and Evan as quickly as possible. By the time she made it to the second floor and then up to third floor, more tears had started to slip down her face. Opening her bedroom door, Aria entered the room before loudly slamming the door shut. Only when she was in her room did the teen finally let a sob escape from her.
