You don't have to worry about me becoming one of them. I don't like needles, and I've heard the stories" "Someone gets addicted to drugs, and they keep doing them until one day they end up overdosing." Matt looked at Aria and let a silent sight out of his nose, she didn't get it. Not fully anyway...But then kid's usually didn't. He had heard all that before, they all said 'not me' 'I know drugs ruin lives' 'I know the risks of overdosing'...he just hoped it would be true this time, for her sake. "We'll I hope that's true, kid." He replied, "Because most people smoke, snort and pop pills long before they start shooting up with needles." He added grimly, looking down at the paperwork. But it wasn't worth arguing about, if she didn't get it then she didn't get it. "Look, I can't promise I'll always be inside at a reasonable hour. But I can promise to try"Matt looked back up at her, meeting her eyes. At least she was being honest saying she would 'try' instead of just promising him anything he wanted to hear and he believed her. "Good." He said with a single nod. He couldn't ask for more than that. He watched as she signed the form and then slid it back across the table towards himself once she had finished. "Thanks for doing this, detective Cole"Matt looked at her, "This benefits us. We get information when we need it in the future, and it saves me the hassle of booking you now." He replied, neutral faced. Of course there was a lot more too it than that and he had made the offer mostly to give her a second chance, but he wasn't gonna be all mushy about it, no that wasn't his style. "Ok, that' everything." Matt picked up the signed forms, shuffling them flush and level before he stood up, "We can let you go now. I'll call your foster mom to come and pick you up." He said casually. Chances were Aria wouldn't like it, kids usually wanted the cops not to call their parents or guardians but Matt couldn't just let Aria go without informing Rene of what happened. [attr="class","Ariatitle"] [attr="class","Aria"] [attr="class","Ariabox"]everything's made to be broken, i just want you to know who i am [attr="class","Ariamain"] Aria had remained silent up until Matt mentioned calling her foster mom. Her eyes widened in fear, though Aria tried to hide it. She knew Rene would never do anything to hurt her or put her in harm's way. The most she would do was give Aria a lecture about her choices and then revoke some of her privileges for a while. Aria could handle that, she wasn't scared of that. "Detective Cole, please don't call her. She'll freak when she finds out I'm here. I never told her about the gang or the drugs. Rene just thinks I've started babysitting more and taking up some more odd jobs" Aria explained. She hadn't exactly mentioned to Rene about what she actually did with her free time, and for good reason. Her foster mother definitely wouldn't approve of the choices Aria was making. She was hoping to convince Matt to not call Rene and to just let her walk out of here. Aria knew that it probably wasn't going to happen, but she wasn't going to give up. No, Aria was going to keep trying. "What if word about this incident gets out?" Aria asked, voicing her concern. "It could get back to my social worker, and do you know what will happen?" That's what Aria was scared of, not that she'd say it out loud. If her social worker found out about this, Aria could be removed from Rene's care, and that's the last thing she wanted right now. She'd already been placed with enough families, Aria didn't want to be moved around again. "Rene could be deemed 'not fit' to raise me. I could be removed from her care and be placed with another family, or even a group home. I can't go through that, Detective Cole. I won't go through that" That much was true. Aria didn't think she could take being placed with another stranger or a group home. If it happened, Aria supposed she could run away. She already spent a good portion of her time on the street, so there wouldn't be much of a difference now. Aria just wouldn't go home periodically anymore. Letting out a sigh, Aria looked at Matt. "Can't you just call one of my friends and let them pick me up?" she asked. Aria knew that wasn't going to happen though. She didn't really have friends outside of those she made in the gang. And Aria doubted that Matt would call Nikki or Jax to come get her. Still, it was worth a shot. Though Aria supposed if it didn't work, she could just leave during the phone call, provided Matt was distracted enough. Aria vaguely remembered the way to the exit, so it was possible. She would just have to be quick about it. Matt saw the look in Aria's eye and he felt for her when she pleaded with him not to call her foster mother, but he didn't show it of course. But he had to call her, he didn't have a choice. He couldn't let a minor be brought in, questioned, made a CI and then let them go without calling an adult, it just didn't work that way. Besides it would be a bit of tough love that might make her think twice next time. Maybe she would learn that actions have consequences and would teach her thet her actions affect other people and not just herself. He hoped it would and that's why he'd call Rene even if he did have a choice. Sometimes that look of disappointment on a mothers face could do more to set a kid straight than the prospect of jail time ever could. "Sorry, kid. I have to call her." Matt replied with an even tone. "It's what happens when you're get brought into a police station." He added. As for letting her friends pick her up? No way was that going to happen ever, "It was your friends that got you into trouble in the first place." He reminded her. But he wasn't without sympathy or mercy, in fact that was why he had given her a second chance by not charging her with anything in the first place, "But I'm not going to call child services this time 'round. And I'll have a word with your social worker if things come to that." He promised her. He had seen enough 'at risk' kids want to run away from their foster homes and guardians, so if Aria wanted to stay where she was that was only a good sign and Matt wouldn't want to see her being removed from there. A statement from a police detective would help convince child services to keep Aria in her current placement if things got that far. Matt turned to go and make the phone call, stopping to look back at Aria before he went, "You want a soda or something?" He offered before he went to make the call. Yeah she'd done wrong, but she was just a kid at the end of the day. She wasn't completely off the rails and she had promised that she'd try so he couldn't be too hard on her. Besides there was plenty of officers around to keep an eye on her while he was gone and she wouldn't be stupid enough to try anything...right? It was a call that was never fun to make, telling people their kid had gotten into trouble. But Matt went and picked up the phone and called Rene, telling her what had happened and asking her to come and collect Aria. Tag: Aria Campbell . |

[attr="class","Ariatitle"] [attr="class","Aria"] [attr="class","Ariabox"]everything's made to be broken, i just want you to know who i am [attr="class","Ariamain"] “Sorry, kid. I have to call her.” “It’s what happens when you’re get brought into a police station”Aria frowned and leaned back in her chair, sulking. She had known that Matt was probably going to call Rene anyways, but Aria had been hoping she would’ve changed Matt’s mind. “It was your friends that got you into trouble in the first place”“It wasn’t completely their fault” Aria protested, looking up at Matt. Aria knew Matt had a point about them getting her into this mess, but she still cared about her friends and was still protective of them. Besides, Aria was at fault too. “I didn’t have to continue helping them out. I chose to do that, so I’m at fault too” “But I’m not going to call child services this time ‘round. And I’ll have a word with your social worker if things come to that”
Aria relaxed a little, relieved that Matt wasn’t going to call child services. She knew that it didn’t mean he wouldn’t call them in the future, but for now Aria was lucky. The only other way they could find out was if Rene or Aria said anything, and Aria wasn’t about to mention this incident to anyone. “Would you really talk to them if it looked like I was going to get placed somewhere else?” Aria asked, doubtful about it. While Matt hadn’t given her any reason to not trust him yet, Aria didn’t want to risk it. She didn’t want to put that much trust in one person. “You want a soda or something?”“No thanks” Aria responded before watching Matt leave. She began to tap her foot as she looked around the place. Aria knew she was supposed to stay put, and that Matt was trusting her to do so. Not to mention there were other officers here and the phone call wouldn’t last long. The moment Rene learned everything, she would come get Aria without hesitating. So when it came to leaving, Aria knew she would not get very far. Still, the teen was restless and filled with energy. Aria was known to take risks, and she was also known to test the limits and push boundaries. It was her way of getting to know people and learning what they would put up with. Aria knew that Matt probably wouldn’t put up with much. She also knew that she was in enough trouble as is, and that she didn’t need to add to that list. Aria also knew that she had promised to try, and she needed to stick by that promise. It was tempting to leave still, though maybe there was a solution. Aria figured she could just stand up and pace some, after all it wouldn’t be like she was actually leaving...just stretching her legs. Surely that wouldn’t be a problem. Aria looked around once more before slowly getting up from her seat. She stayed there for a bit before wandering around the area a little. She kept telling herself that she wasn’t leaving, but rather exploring and stretching her legs. Matt looked at Aria when she asked if he'd really talk to child services if she needed him to. He knew she didn't know him but he hadn't lied to her yet and he hoped she would realize that and be able to trust him, "I've done everything I said I would so far, haven't I?" If she was going to be his CI she would need to learn to trust him a bit, but he knew that would take time. Most foster kids had been let down at some point and he understood that and made some allowances for it. Matt went and called Rene and the lady was obviously surprised and upset to be getting a call from the police. But once Matt assured her that Aria wasn't being arrested or sent anywhere she told him she'd be right there to pick up her foster child. Matt hung up the phone and turned around to see Aria straying from the desk. Seriously? He knew Rome wasn't built in a day and that pain in the butt teens didn't change in the snap of a finger, but he had just given her a second chance and she had just promised him that she would try. Was she seriously trying to work up the courage or look for the opportunity to leg it out off there? Aria hadn't run yet and she wasn't too far from the desk so he couldn't prove that she was thinking about running. He just shot her a look from where he was standing that would hopefully help her make up her mind. It would only be a few minutes before the girl's foster mother would be there, then Matt could get her to sign the paperwork and leave the pair to sort things between themselves. Until then Aria just had to be smart enough not to think she could get away from PD without the cops seeing her. Tag: Aria Campbell . There had been plenty of opportunities for him to back out of the deal they made, but he hadn’t. Instead, Matt had kept his word and was helping her out. “I guess you have” she admitted. She also knew that being his CI now meant that she was going to have to put some trust in Matt. Aria knew that it didn’t mean she had to completely trust him, but it also meant that the sixteen year old couldn’t doubt everything Matt said or did. If Aria kept doubting everything about him, then it wouldn't do either of them any good. While Aria had been walking around, she glanced up at Matt and saw the look he gave her and knew that he wasn’t amused. “What? I wasn’t doing anything” she said, though the thought of leaving had occurred. Though, looking at Matt Aria knew she wasn’t going to be able to leave until Rene got here. There were too many officers around, and the sixteen year old wouldn’t get too far because of it. Letting out a small sigh, Aria looked away from Matt and sat back down in her chair. She would behave for now, though that was mostly because Aria had a feeling she would end up handcuffed to the chair again if she didn’t behave. That was definitely a position that Aria did not want to be in again. There would be other times for Aria to see how much she can get away with, but for now she would back down and wait.
