[attr="class","de1"] Not important? Of course it was important, Evan was talking and she was genuinely interested in what he had to day. She’d thought about it while she’d been upstairs. No, that couldn’t be right. It was when she came back downstairs and Aleksander was safely tucked away in her dad’s arm, she looked at Evan and quirked a brow. “What were you saying about ideas? You know I always enjoy listening to them.” She mentioned off hand, though she was just being honest as she stole a seat on the couch. Then her dad started to stammer and it made her faltering and stumbling around the conversation look like child’s play. “Would you prefer it be someone else’s grandson?” Vanessa lightly teased her dad with a smile on her face. Then there was the rhetorical question that Jerry answered himself and Vanessa curled up on the couch to get comfortable before any of the men in the room decided to tell her to sit down. Martin and Reese were quiet and Vanessa was kind of wishing Martin would open his mouth with some of his great wisdom. She was beginning to think that perhaps she should have been more open with her dad while he was gone; but there was nothing she could do about it now. There were a lot more bombshells that needed to be dropped. Martin came up and handed Vanessa some of the stuff she’d left on the counter. “I think you were meaning to work on this when you got back.” Vanessa gently took the books out from Martin’s hand and tossed them on the couch beside her. There were still venues for the wedding, she’d not chosen one yet. Whitmore and Cross in the same space was going to be more than a handful of messes. All she could think of were the disasters that would happen the minute David and Jerry ran into each other. It was one of the reasons there was no wedding date yet. The Cross family would expect a large wedding given the social standing of both of the parties, no doubt. Vanessa at this point was all for eloping in some backwoods lodge. “Thanks Martin.”There were several venues that she loved but she had in a pile all of them marked with Seating? There were some that had a similar label marked with prices and then No written on them in post it notes. Most normal people would have taken them out. Vanessa just hadn’t made up her mind. There were also smaller venues where she’d written something like ‘small and cozy’ but no matter which way she sliced it David and Jerry were going to be in the same space over a period of a couple of days. ⚓ Jeremiah Whitmore,Evan Cross ⚓ [attr="class","de2"]VANESSA WHITMORE ♦. ♦[newclass=.de1]margin-top:25px;opacity:0;transition:0.8s;transition-delay:0.5s;transform:scale(0.75);[/newclass] [newclass=.de1:hover]opacity:0.75;transform:scale(1);[/newclass][newclass=.de2]transform:rotatez(90deg)[/newclass][googlefont=Molle:400italic]

[attr="class","evannah"] [attr="class","evanleft"] [attr="class","evanleft2"] | [attr="class","evanright"] If Evan was worried about one thing, it had been how Mr. Whitmore was liable to react to the news. His imagination had concocted a worst case scenario that didn't turn out very well for him. Sure, there was always the chance Jeremiah was silently plotting his demise, but he pushed that trepidation aside. With Aleksandr nestled in his grandfather's arms, Evan found himself beaming. This certainly didn't need to be marred by his nervous line of thought. The moment was a heartwarming one – something special Vanessa got to share with her father. While it had, no doubt, been a rhetorical question, Evan confirmed Jeremiah's stunned disbelief. "You are. A grandfather, that is."As Evan had tried explaining earlier, inspiration struck at the strangest times. He'd put Aleksandr in his crib for an afternoon nap earlier today, but no sooner had Evan's head hit the pillow than the beginnings of an idea had begun to take shape. He didn't dwell too much on Vanessa having misheard him before. It'd been a long day already – what was to say she just hadn't gotten a little distracted? It happened to him all the time, usually when he was running ideas through his head at a million miles per minute. "I can show you what I was working on later, if you want?" The last thing Jeremiah would want to do was listen to him talk tech; sometimes he wondered if Vanessa was just being polite when she would nod and smile along. It was the kind of thing that would probably put Aleksandr to sleep in an instant. At least Vanessa had seen reason, curling up on the couch with a collection of notebooks. She'd been running around – including to the airport for her father – most of today. And with Isabella soon due. Pregnant fiancée… why shouldn't he be overprotective? "You are. A grandfather, that is.""A grandfather" He parroted softly, looking at his beautiful grandson and taking the precious moment in. "Yeah." He added softly, almost philosophically. This was the next chapter in all of their lives. There was a baby, another human being where there wasn't one before and he was gonna be a part of the little guy's life. Being there for him and watching him grow and learn, and that was no little thing. “Would you prefer it be someone else’s grandson?”"Somebody else's grand son? No this is my grandson, better not be anyone else's grandson." He said slightly playfully, tucking the baby in his arms and holding him close to his body affectionately. He knew Vanessa was just teasing but he had fallen in love with Aleksandr already. "Look, I'm a grandfather." He said proudly, twisting his body towards Martin showing him Aleksandr who looked so tiny in the crease of his arm. Well it wasn't like Martin hadn't seen him, but still...He was just sharing the moment with his best friend, he only 'became' a grandfather for the first time once, "Can you believe it?" He smiled. Jerry made his way over and sat next to Vanessa, Aleksandr still nestled snuggly in his arm, settled and falling back to sleep once again. “I think you were meaning to work on this when you got back.”Jerry looked over, seeing the venues and post it notes dotted over them, "What's that, you planning the wedding?" He asked casually. little did he know what trouble Vanessa was having trying to figure out how to keep him and Cross apart, or more accurately how to put them in the same room together for the wedding. [attr="class","Whitmorener"] [attr="class","Whitmorener1"] [attr="class","Whitmoreback"] [attr="class","Whitmorenert"] Vanessa curled up with her books about the same time that Evan said he would show her something. You are going to shower me in the ideas? No, that was not what he’d said. "Okay" Come on Vanessa what sense did that even make? Though she had the books in her lap and half a conversation going on with Evan, it was Aleks and her dad that her mostly undivided attention. Her dad had always had a love for young kids, she was pretty certain that was the reason she’d gotten so lucky as to have him to grow up with. Being an only child she tried to understand adult things earlier in life. Hearing her dad get protective Vanessa giggled. Yep, that sounded about right. Vanessa let the giggle fits continue from the couch. It was cute and it was amusing and worth smiling and laughing over. She watched her dad share the moment with Martin, undoubtedly she knew that was coming because they were best friends. Martin smiled and of course decided to poke fun of Vanessa. “And one day he too will push every button in the elevator on the way to see you.” Without fail every time that had been Vanessa in an elevator when she was little. Martin smiled towards Jerry after setting the books down with Vanessa. Vanessa was definitely still a daddy’s girl no matter how you sliced it. She could tell by the way Evan was watching her, that there was no way getting up and moving around was going to not be a battle. With her luck he was probably trying to figure out how many ropes were needed to tie her to the couch and leave her there. Right, her dad would know what she was doing but he didn’t have to know the reason there was no date or venue picked yet. “I’m looking at all the pretty pictures!” She exclaimed quietly, there was still a hint of a young child beneath Vanessa’s personality and occasionally she would still let it show. Vanessa grabbed one of the venue’s she’d not really looked much into. Well there was sort of a divider in that one. Though she was probably going to have the same issue at the reception. But this solved one of the issues. There was plenty of outdoor space and they could just… mostly avoid each other. “Hey honey? What about the blue sky vineyard?” Vineyard wouldn’t be her first choice, but it met all the requirements and both sides of the family weren’t sitting on top of one another. Traveling didn’t matter for either side of the family and she wanted a wedding on the beach if she couldn’t use the court house. However, she was fairly certain Jerry and David might try drowning each other in the ocean at some point. She debated not even letting them have plastic cutlery. A few hours was all they had to get along for, in fact getting along could just be avoiding each other’s company. The stress and the what if’s. This was why the courthouse was a much better idea. . [attr="class","evannah"] [attr="class","evanleft"] [attr="class","evanleft2"] | [attr="class","evanright"] Moments like these were special: Vanessa curled up comfortably on the couch, while Jeremiah proudly displayed the little boy to his best friend. Evan might have been able to enjoy it more if he didn't have to constantly worry about Vanessa overexerting herself – she could be stubborn sometimes. It wasn't like he was about to tie her to the couch or anything drastic. Laying claim to one of the recliners, Evan took a seat, letting the others catch up. Listening to Martin make light of an event from the past, Evan found himself chuckling. He could see a much younger, smaller Vanessa running her hand over all of the elevator floor numbers. That was only one possible outcome. Their son might lean towards being a little bit more inquisitive, which could create a whole different kind of interesting. "Pretty sure there's some of me running around in there too, Martin. Aleks might try taking the elevator apart instead."If it were up to Evan, he would have liked a small, intimate ceremony, free from all of the pomp and circumstance, but family expectations quashed that idea. There were times that being the son of David Cross came back to bite him; this was one of those times. Taking a moment to look over the material his fiancée had put together, Evan handed the notebook back to her. An outdoor locale made sense: it allowed David and Jeremiah the space they needed to avoid each other. Evan could learn to live with the choice, but he didn't want Vanessa to just live with something on their wedding day. "Is a vineyard what you really want, Vanessa?"Vanessa Whitmore-Cross, Jeremiah Whitmore[attr="class","evanright2"] |

“And one day he too will push every button in the elevator on the way to see you.”Jerry let out a healthy laugh at the comment and smiled at his friend approvingly. It was funny because there was so much truth to it. He glanced over at his daughter smiling at the warm memory, she did love to do that and he couldn't wait for his grandson to do it too. And if he was even half like his mother Jerry knew the boy would. Pretty sure there's some of me running around in there too, Martin. Aleks might try taking the elevator apart instead.""Good grief, can you imagine?" He said looking to Martin. " If he gets her energy and his curiosity!" Imagine a little energetic Vanessa with the fondness of taking things apart. It was an amusing thought but a very daunting one! "Glad I'm only gonna have to babysit and not raise the little terror." He joked. “I’m looking at all the pretty pictures!”"You always did like pretty pictures." He smiled. He was half joking, but then again she did always love pretty pictures. She used to draw them for him all the time when she was little. But his little girl wasn't so little anymore...she was all grown up and getting married. "Oh a vineyard sounds nice." He commented casually when Vanessa asked the question. He didn't know his princess had ever thought about getting married in a vineyard but he'd go along with whatever she wanted as long as it made her happy. He rested his grandson against his shoulder, still hardly able to believe the little guy existed. Is a vineyard what you really want, Vanessa?"He looked over at his daughter, "Didn't you used to want to get married on a beach?" He asked casually. After all dreams changed as people grew up and got older. "Right before you ride a unicorn along the ocean and into the sun set?" He added being less serious as he mentiond one of her childhood ramblings...again dreams changed as people grew up. Tag: Vanessa Whitmore-Cross , Evan Cross . |

[attr="class","Whitmorener"] [attr="class","Whitmorener1"] [attr="class","Whitmoreback"] [attr="class","Whitmorenert"]Vanessa looked up from her papers hearing the conversation about the elevators and decided it was probably best not to join in on that one. Besides Martin was doing plenty of talking with them and it gave her a chance to compare the vineyards to a few of the beaches she had set aside. Too open and hard to keep the two trouble makers away from each other. All the beaches had the same color sticky note. Though one in particular stood out and had the words “too expensive” written under “need permit”. Money wasn’t exactly an obstacle. Beach weddings also weren’t usually as expensive as vineyards either. Martin piped up chuckling at the group. “Well maybe his parents should keep their eyes wide open and he won’t be as much trouble as his father.” It was all Vanessa could do not to dump the papers on the floor she started giggling so hard. She half ignored Evan when he asked if she really wanted the vineyard, the answer to the question was a resounding no and answering it would only prove his point but get them no further in actually picking a venue. Then her dad called her out on it and she mentally cringed. No her dad hit the nail on the head. More than ever she still wanted the beach. There was a small sigh and a half hearted response to follow. “Just a childhood dream. The vineyard is pretty.” “Elektra might make a gorgeous unicorn though.” Her Gypsy Vanner mare was a slate grey and had white mane and tail. She even had the long flowing things. Two things that Vanessa did spend money on were imported expensive horses and cars. She glanced over at Aleksander. He was content to go back to sleep in Jerry’s arms and Vanessa couldn’t help but feel all warm and fuzzy inside. She wished the wedding could give her the same warm fuzzy feeling but all she wanted to do was elope and not have the stress of the wedding looming over her. Not that she would trade Evan for anyone else, but the wedding could go to hell. [attr="class","Whitmorener2"] [attr="class","Whitmorenerlyric"]Every heart has a mission And we are called to be human

[attr="class","evannah"] [attr="class","evanleft"] [attr="class","evanleft2"] | [attr="class","evanright"] Evan snorted indignantly. Besides the fact taking things apart had fostered his early love of all things science, his exploration of the unknown kept him out of other kinds of trouble. If Aleks showed that same interest in discovery, Evan would encourage his son to do the same, as he would with Isabella. It might mean replacing a number of electronics and other items, but the cost would be well worth it. "I was like six! And only some of the household appliances were irreparably damaged."
When Jeremiah pointed out that a beach wedding had been his daughter's dream and Vanessa brushed it off by saying that a vineyard would be pretty, Evan intervened once more. The fact Vanessa tried answering without answering told him everything he needed to know. The last thing Evan wanted was for his fiancée to settle for second best. No, Evan wanted Vanessa to have what she really desired – not what would make their parents happy or provide the easiest solution to the issue of David and Jeremiah not getting along. They could work out those details later. "I know you better than that, Vanessa. Let's have a beach wedding."
If there was one idea in all of this that really made him chuckle, it was the thought of making Elektra – one of Vanessa's horses – into a unicorn. They could absolutely incorporate the slate gray mare into their ceremony. He could just imagine the horse's protests at being made to wear a horn on its head.
