[attr="class","atar"] “Cut it out Nick.” Amanda was trying to talk some sense into her partner.
“Oh, I won’t cut it out until I get this guy Amanda.” Nick had gone on a rampage after Amanda had been trying to break up a fight and been struck in the side with a chair. Now Amanda was trying to keep her partner from losing his job.
“Not worth it, Nick.” She sighed if she had to call his boyfriend, then so help her she would march her blonde little self right into Barba’s office.
“I’m not getting into this Amanda.”
“What you think because I am a woman I am not capable of handling myself? Nick it comes with the job.” She was trying to point this out to her ex boyfriend and current partner as best that she could. There were days where she felt like dropping him off a brick building. “Just cool it Nick, find some paperwork or something.” She rolled eyes and shoved her chair away from the desk, as she placed the ice pack back on her side.
"This is not over goldilocks" Nick mumbled. | Rollins Open Open until replied to |

It was Finley’s favourite time of the week, collecting from a certain CPD detective not that he could admit that to her or anyone else because it was all just business. Letting one person out of the many he dealt with pay in kind was well, a hazard of the job or light stress relief. Either way Fin was happy enough with the arrangement even if he did dip into his own pocket to pay his boss; a little down time was well worth it. He was dressed in his blue suit for the day, the cufflinks and lighter blue striped shirt with a black autumn jacket over the top. It was well a business deal and there was no use in turning up with greasy hair, a leather jacket and knuckle dusters for this job. No finesse and no broken legs for this particular client made for a rather enjoyable time despite the fact that later that day he would likely be doing just that. Broken bones were a hazard for those who were on the receiving end of his frustrations however Amanda, well it was a lot more fun than that. Fin picked his phone from his pocket as he called her number, one of many in his phone but the only one that made the top of his call list. Fin had no idea if she was working or not as he hovered in the park across from the precinct, loitering next to a police station no matter how well dressed was a fool’s errand and even he knew that. Fin placed the phone next to his ear as he listened to it ring, anxious for her to answer as he sat himself down on an available bench and watched a few of the pigeons peck at sandwich crumbs that had been left by the dinner crowd. [attr="class","atar"] Amanda heard her phone ring. Reaching for it would be painful. “Rollins.” She tried to keep the pain out of her voice, she’d not checked the caller id because she’d answered it on her bluetooth. She caught the look from Amaro. She rolled her eyes. The ice on her side caused her breathing to be heavy.
“Go home Amanda.” Nick retorted setting paperwork down on the desk. If she was going to stay then she was going to be buried in paperwork, because there was no way he was letting his partner out to play today.
Grabbing her phone she was hurting more. “Sorry Fin. It’s been a morning. How are you?” She was keeping her conversation normal in front of Nick. There was no sense in drawing more attention from her hot headed partner. Getting up from her desk she went into the break room and closed the door. Being away from prying ears on her end of the conversation. “Now that I have my partner out of my hair.” She chirped shaking her head. She didn’t mention that her partner was her ex boyfriend and that caused issues at times. | Rollins @fin notes |

Fin was staring out at the scene of the park when he heard her voice, for the split second he had the smile on his face before it faded hearing something off in her tone. “Amanda.” He said more than questioned, Fin was good at listening and hearing things so yes beyond the obvious Fin could hear there was something not entirely right about her voice. It was only confirmed when the ‘normal’ conversation ensued as he furrowed his brow. “I’m good but are you? Everything okay?” Fin asked her, he would hardly go as far as to say he cared but if someone was messing with a client then they would quickly find out the hard way what would happen to them. “Catch you at a bad time?” He asked not entirely sure when was a good time but then he was used to dropping in on people unannounced, it was the only way to get things done in his world. “Your partner causing you problems?” Fin asked figuring he could fix that over night for her if she wanted. “But since you’re on the phone and assuming you’re working, wondered if you wanted to take a break from the work day, grab some lunch or something else.” He teased grinning as he settled back into his seat in the park not wanting to roll out the. Yes I’m waiting outside you work just yet. Amanda Rollins,

[attr="class","atar"] When Fin called her out by name she sighed. “That is my name.” She was being a bit sarcastic but still trying to keep the tones of pain from her voice. Though when he asked if she was okay, she knew she was caught up. “Depends on your definition of okay. It’s been a rough morning.” She added as she plopped a few quarters into the vending machine.
“Rollins, you heard that the doctor said. Go sit down and put ice on that or go home.” Nick replied as he dropped the ice pack in front of Amanda again. Her partner’s look was piercing into hers even though she was on the phone.
“No, he just cares.” She replied snatching the ice pack. “They are trying to kick me out of the office, so I could take the rest of the day.” She replied into the phone. Amanda sat down at the tables with her bottle of water and ice. She’d start heading out of the office soon enough. | Rollins @fin notes |

Fin laughed as he enjoyed her sarcasm, it was nice for a change instead of everyone insisting how scary he could be. A little sarcasm lightened the day. “Oh I know it is, Amanda.” Fin said putting more emphasis on her name as he tried to work out what was wrong. “Then have a better morning.” Fin explained as he heard someone tell her about the doctor and going home. For a cop that went one of two ways and the pain he had heard already meant she was hurt. Fin had never been overly invested in who he collected from but Amanda was getting to him. That and the feeling of rage to go and punch the person who had hurt her, precinct or not there were ways to get payback inside or outside. Fin was never picky about that, throw a little cash in the right direction and you had an army at your back. “I bet he does.” Fin replied equally as sarcastically as her previous comment. “Then let yourself get kicked out of the office and we can spend the rest of the day as you want. I’ll even throw lunch into the deal since your injured, we cannot have one of Chicago’s finest recuperating on air.” Fin offered glancing back at the building, “So are you going to tell me which idiot hurt you or do I need to find out the long way? Either way, I will make sure whomever this is loses something precious.” He had never been the subtle type, he did what he had to and no one messed with his clients. No other sharks, no gangs, no turf anything and especially no one who hurt Amanda. Whatever Fin would have to do he was sure he would get it done for interfering with day and of course his best paying client. Amanda Rollins,

[attr="class","atar"] Amanda laughed, the morning was near over. How was it possible to have a better morning. “I could start over again with the afternoon.” She retorted as she grabbed the stuff from her desk and headed downstairs. She was moving but slowly. She seemed to get a look from Nick as she left her office. “Okay fine, you win.” She pointed out as she made her way to the door. Pushing the button for the elevator she had to come up from the basement level floor.
“He’s in custody. You don’t hit a cop with a chair and then expect not to end up behind bars.” She was sure that Nick was going to have a field day with the guy in the cage. Amanda not being around meant that she didn’t have to jeopardize the case either. She sighed as she got out of the elevator. Though she had a feeling that Fin wasn’t just going to leave it there.
Amanda made her way outside and towards her car. She stopped on the sidewalk to lean on the telephone pole. Her side hurt with every step. She took a few breaths and then carried onto towards her car which had been parked by the park. She simply didn’t like parking in the lot beside the precinct. It was darker and more dimly lit at night. She reached her car and put her head on her arm. Every step hurt. | Rollins @fin notes |

Fin chuckled. “Yes see there you go, the morning is done with and you now have the whole of an afternoon.” He said still listening to her when she said he had won, that was at least a good thing. If she was indeed leaving work then she had to be hurt enough to do so and Fin knew what damage that would take. It was hardly going to be a sunshine and roses day he thought as he knew he would find out who had done this to her. Not just for the sake of knowing but to prove a point, Amanda was off limits and the more people knew that the more people would know not to mess with her. “He hit you with a chair!” Fin said rather angrily, oh hell no that was hardly going to be something he could let go of. No, whoever it was would find out very painfully what that meant as soon as they were in general population. No hero’s welcome for hitting anyone with a chair, just a sever meeting with the people he knew on the inside. “That will not stand.” He muttered deciding it was far better not to tell the cop what he was about to do or not do to this idiot in custody. Fin waited and watched for Amanda leaving, he knew where she parked her car though when he saw her leave he smiled until he saw her lean against the telephone pole. He decided that making a beeline for her was a bad idea as he walked far slower than he would have cared for seeing her put her head on her arm when she reached her car. Fin shoved his phone in his pocket, the calm expression written over his face as he leaned against her car. “Afternoon detective.” He said smiling as he glanced at her side. “So do you want me to take a look or are we taking a trip to the hospital?” Fin asked deciding it was one or the other because a no right now when he had seen what state she was in, no was going to be taken badly. “Then we can get you some lunch and you can rest up for the remainder of the day. Your place or somewhere else?” He asked her though he was hardly the monster that would take advantage of her when she was hurt. “Only to rest though, I will not take no for an answer on that either. Like I said though, you have choices there.” He offered not wanting to paint out the entirety of everything for her. The one thing Fin hated was to see her in pain; it was why he was doing what he did to avoid her having the worse side of owing the money she did. The payment was set up and it avoided the more brutal side of the business which he was thankful for. Amanda Rollins,

[attr="class","atar"] Amanda was always the type that tried to remain in good spirits. Work through the pain was always her thing. It wasn’t like she’d not gone through much worse. Though her limp was a bit of a giveaway. So when Fin had asked her about it, she had guessed it was probably obvious. She smiled a bit until he turned a bit angry over the phone. Deep breaths Amanda. It wasn’t so much that he was angry at her, she knew better. She knew protective when she saw it. Me were complicated.
Though at least he’d calmed down when he greeted her at her car. She reached for his hand and tugged him a bit closer so she could kiss him once lightly. Well it seemed like he was calmer anyway. Amanda sighed giving him a look. One that specified she thought he was absolutely insane. “You can take a look but the hospital won’t be able to do much for bruises and a cracked rib. Pain killers but I have alcohol to take care of the pain.” She pointed out the obvious. “I was going to wrap it up when I got home.” She should have wrapped it up at work or at the time it happened, but she hardly was going to bother the paramedics when they had other things to do.
“My place is alright.” She would feel more comfortable in her own space. Resting in places she was unfamiliar with never went well. There was also Franny the dog who had to go out. Amanda had a huge list of things to get done at the house. Amanda balanced on him and the car. Reaching over she maneuvered to kiss his lips before she climbed in her car to sit down in the backseat so he could see her side.
“No take out.” She argued the point but wasn't going to fight with him over the whole lunch thing. Amanda lived on take out/delivery at work and the last thing she wanted was that very thing. Amanda gently unbuttoned her shirt to reveal her camisole underneath. Lifting the side of the cami up where it hurt was difficult without her seething through her teeth.
“I’ve already iced it.” Before he could get onto her for taking care of herself, she showed him the ice pack in her hand. “I was doing that when you called.” She admitted honestly. The bruising on the lower side of the rib cage, it was evident there was more than bruising going on. To her, it was just a bad day at the office. Amanda reached for her shirt again and seethed as she bent to move. Okay so moving hurt in all aspects. That was just going to be an issue. | Rollins @fin notes |

Fin knew pain and working through it was great though anyone who threw those cereal box life lightening quotes at him, he would break their fingers faster than they could say another word. He knew pain and he knew exactly what those days were like when the pain was far too much, he never said much about that but it was easy to see when other people hurt. He made a living from it. Fin was angry because in his mind Amanda needed to watch out for herself and where was her partner in all of this. Cops worked in pairs for a reason so he was as much to blame as the guy who did it in his head. Kissing her and the world was doing okay once more that day though her look said a different thing. Fin knew what he was doing despite the look that said he was insane, Amanda was hurt and he was hardly going to not look to see if she was okay. Civilians that thought they were medics were mad in his mind. “I will and no they cannot but we can tape it up and no alcohol, do you even realise how...” Fin stopped himself from ranting about the million and one things he knew would be a bad idea to even mix pain killers or use alcohol as one. “Your place it is then and you should have wrapped it sooner. You are not immune to getting hurt you realise this yes?” He asked her not sure if she thought she was entirely invincible or if she had just decided it was better to go home. Then again it seemed like five minutes ago that might not have happened either. Kissing her lips again he could see how much pain she was in the minute she tried to move. “I would never make you get take out, so long as you’ve got actual food in your fridge I’ll figure a decent lunch out for you.” He offered though this was about as far from his usual day job as things got. Anyone else and he would have been poking them in the ribs to get his point across until they understood they needed to pay up. Amanda he was taking care of, making dinner it was one of those strange life things and he had no idea why he was being so protective. Fin watched her unbutton her shirt as he had seen her do so many other times before. He crouched down in front of her as his eyes glancing over her ribs. Fin took a look as he reached out a hand to touch her side trying to be as careful as possible. “Good at least that’s one thing and keep icing it before it gets too sore.” Fin stated as he could see there was more than just bruising going on. “Okay, give me your keys.” He demanded, holding out his hand. He might have asked politely but then asking had never been his style either. There was no chance he was letting her drive in the shape she was in, better to be a passenger than to have to move every few seconds to gear change or foot change. “I’m driving you home because you’re now not moving more than you have to.” He explained to her, “And you’re not going into work for a few days either because that darling isn’t going to heal overnight. So bizarre as this is, I will look after you for a few days.” He said not entirely sure the parallel’s could be drawn between the existing arrangement and him practically telling her he would make sure she was okay. Either way he would argue with her about it until he was blue in the face. His expression said as much. Amanda Rollins,

[attr="class","atar"] Amanda couldn’t be mad at Nick for not being there. He’d tried to have her back, there had just been too many of them. No, she’d never fault a partner she trusted with her life. Though she wasn’t about to explain to Fin the ins and outs of her partnership. Explaining her partner was also an ex, probably went against her better judgment. Not that there was any sparks between the two anymore. No, they made better partners and friends than a couple.
Hearing him rant she just let him do so. “Fine. No, okay no. Alcohol. I don’t need a lecture.” Amanda knew the consequences. She’d been intending to USE alcohol as the pain killer but there was no point in trying to backtrack. There was no point in upsetting him, he was only trying to be helpful and she was grateful.
“Nothing to wrap it with.” Well had she gone to the medics that would have been one thing; but she hadn’t. She got lost in his lips for a moment. “I never claimed I was.” Amanda made a face at his comment about her being immune. Their conversations went together like jelly and cheese. Kissing and arguing all at the same time. “Why are you hassling over me?” She figured it was worth asking anyway.
When Fin touched her ribs she bit her lip to keep from seething. It hurt. She was didn’t even want to rebutton her shirt. They were going straight to her house, what did it really matter? Then he demanded for her keys. Amanda almost wanted to put him in the ground for being so pushy. There was a small icy undertone of a glare. When he explained she just rolled her eyes handing him her keys. Amanda rarely if ever took well to being demanded anything.
She wanted to argue that she wasn’t broken and could do things herself but she was pretty sure the rib was broken. “It’s a bruise darling, it will heal.” The reminder to the one with the medical degree, yeah that was going to go wrong in about a thousand and one ways, except Amanda was going to be the one to push that envelope anyway. A few days? Was he a lunatic? “No, I am not going to work but I hardly need a babysitter.” Not that she could really argue with having company. Though their arrangement until now had always been strictly business, she was sure this would have strings attached to it also? | Rollins @fin notes |

Fin and other people, there was that issue of trust and in his line of work there was none. The only person he trusted was himself and with that he knew himself better than most others. Sure his brother knew him about as well as he did himself but trust was never a thing Fin had for people. A solitary job for a solitary person or well that was his line for the last several years. He did his own thing and tried not to get in the way or need anyone for anything. “Apparently you do and sure if you want to drink yourself into whatever place you want to get, it’s not going to be on my time.” He stated, sure if she chose to grab a bottle the minute he left her then that was her choice but he was far from letting anyone use alcohol as a pain killer. Sure he disagreed but like always he felt his word was final on that matter. No drinking, if she wanted painkillers she could use the old fashioned ones out of the medicine cabinet. Fin sighed at her answer, medics had everything the wrap something like that with though he had no time to argue that point when he felt her lips against his. This was hardly playing fair as his thoughts strayed from being annoyed with her to thinking of what might have been that afternoon. “Really? From where I sit it seems different.” He replied given he figured she was superwoman for one and though fictional, Fin had suspicions that she did think she was invincible. There had been a time he thought the same until that changed. When Amanda asked him why he was hassling over her, that was the million dollar question. The one thing Fin never did was get personally invested in work, Amanda was work but when that changed for him he had no idea. Fin rolled his eyes in reply to her. “So much for you being a detective.” He stated in the most sarcastic way possible. “I’m not spelling it out to you but it’s not like you’ve got anyone else hassling over you. The boyfriend isn’t here fawning so someone has to do it, might as well be the person that actually does care about you.” He stated like it was a normal thing to do. He hated to see her hurt and hated to hurt her but Fin could see that it was far from just bruising. Fin honestly could get past that icy undertone of a glare as he just gave one right back. He smiled nodding when she handed over her keys, well that was one battle fought and won though it could hardly imagine her trying to drive back. She was in enough pain as it was so adding to it would only lead to an accident which given his interest in her. No, he was there so he would help her out. Fin leaned closer to her as he kissed her lips after she spoke about it being a bruise. “Darling, I had no idea you were a doctor.” He said as he pulled away, “If you were you’ve just failed med school because it’s broken not bruised. Now we can do this the easy way or the hard way, you want to be difficult fine but know you’ve not even seen my difficult side yet.” Fin stated knowing he could be a serious pain if he wanted to be. If came with years of military and years of being a stubborn idiot so it was almost a natural state of being. “Amanda, you do. Arguing only makes you wrong about it all.” He stated, “Though like I said before, the boyfriends not here to do this for you, so I am. Like most other things it seems like keeping you happy, out of trouble, even satisfying your bedroom activities. Remind me again, what does this guy actually do for you other than not be here for you?” Fin asked knowing he was pushing buttons but then two could play that game. Amanda Rollins,

[attr="class","atar"]Amanda just turned her chin away from him when he started telling her she needed lectures and lecturing her was a great way to make sure she tuned him out. His mouth was now moving but she wasn’t hearing the words coming out. Selective listening, as her mother had always called it. Something she had perfected over the years. Sighing she just closed her eyes and counted mentally.
This wasn’t Amanda’s first rodeo as much as Fin liked to think she was new to being a cop. “I get banged up. It comes with the job.” She stated firmly. “Learning to handle it and thinking you are invincible are not the same.” Staying and answering telephones and resting could arguable fall into the same category. Though she doubted arguing with him over that would do anything more than irritate her until she was injuring herself further. It already hurt to be angry. If his plan was to make her angry today, then he had succeeded.
His sarcasm was uncalled for. “You say you care and you mock me?” She pulled her arm away from him and moved away from her car. Sure he had her keys but she could always call Nick to take her home. Though she figured that would go over like a million lead balloons. Given that he was claiming he was the only one who cared. Amanda knew better. Though she knew he did care, or he wouldn’t be acting like this.
“You care and I love you but I will not stand for being mocked and being made to feel like property.” She slammed her car door hissing at the pain in her side. Oh there were much better decisions and her face curled up. She honestly probably deserved it for being so stupid in the moment. Just as she was yelling and screaming at him he was kissing her and she watching him pull away.
“Probably a good thing this isn’t med school.” Her voice edged in anger. “Maybe I should just have my partner drive me home. Because getting upset is only making things worse.” No she didn’t dare directly blame him but she was upset with him. Then he said that arguing made her wrong.
“So an independent woman is wrong? Because not every woman needs a man treating them like a piece of glass. You do make me happy, but right now you are making me angry.” Then cue subject change to her boyfriend. “The only decent point you have right now is that he isn’t here.” There was a few quickened breathes, “but you’ve got a long way to go if you want to fill those shoes.” Amanda took another few steps back. “I’m a human being not an object and I don’t take kindly to being treated like one.” She reiterated as she turned her back and reached for her phone out of her pocket. Her partner was just a phone call away.
No calling Nick was probably a terrible idea, she didn’t need the two of them having some fight on the street because Nick would so start something and she had an idea that Fin would likely finish it. She put her phone back in her pocket before getting in the car slamming the door yet again. Her rib was already broken, as Fin had pointed out. Pain was what you made of it and Amanda tried not to fuss over it. | Rollins @fin notes |

Fin had his ways of dealing with people and generally that meant telling them what to do, regardless of if they wanted to hear it or not. His hardly had the personality of a saint and that just happened to show every now and again when he told her what to do. It was his thing and he did that thing well. Fin rarely dealt with cops, well the good sort like Amanda anyway so even the thought of her getting banged up even a little got under his skin. It was unacceptable and he would make sure that every other criminal in the city treated her with kid gloves because of it. “Well I wish you made it not part of the job or learned to get out of harms way faster.” Fin stated as he tried to make it as simple as possible. He knew that there was no way she could just keep herself safe all day but maybe just move a little faster at times. “Case and point, you should never have to handle it. People should have your back so you do not get hurt.” Fin said equally as firmly, he had no idea of the ins and outs of what had gone on but he knew whoever had hurt her was going to meet a very happy accident shortly. Yes, he mocked her but it was what he did when he cared about her. Fin gazed at her confused when she pulled her arm away from him and moved from the car. So now this was all his fault somehow? Women he could never understand them, he was telling her he cared and now he was the bad guy in all of this? Fin glanced at the keys in his hand as he wondered where she was going to go to but then what was the point in running. “Yes I do because I care about you.” Fin stated as he figured she might not have heard him right the first time. Fin had never been that overly flowery person, heart of his sleeve style was his brother not him he could never afford to wear a heart on his sleeve. Fin found himself wincing when she slammed the car door; he knew that feeling all too well having slammed a lot of things in his time. “I want you Amanda and I am not going to make any apologies for that. You are not my property but I still want you all the same.” Fin explained staring at her because he just though he heard her say love. So what the hell were they fighting about now? “Fine I will not mock you but have some sense right now. All I meant by it was how can you not see that I want you?” Fin asked her figuring that for him it was obvious but reading the other side, he might not have been as obvious as he could have been. Fin just nodded to her, “Fine but you’re the one who’s upset over nothing so fine go have your partner drive you home. It’s not like I’ve tried to help you or anything so go for it.” Fin said though he never held out the keys, no he was being spiteful about it all. If Amanda wanted to bring her partner into things then fine, the guy that let her get hit with a chair or whatever it was that got her that day. Sure he was a real stand up human being, much like the boyfriend and all he had tried to do was help her. “You make me happy to but you’re hurt Amanda, I hate to see you hurt and independent or not, you have a broken bones and that is not okay with me.” Fin stated, why was she even going off on him about this because in his mind all he was trying to do was help her out. Take her home, make sure she got the rest she needed to heal and help out where he could. Fin listened and watched as Amanda took another few steps back, she told him she loved him and now she was backing away? He hated not knowing what was the right thing to do. He knew Amanda was no object, she was a person, one he cared a lot about and sure yes he could admit it to himself loved. He loved her but that came with the responsibility of looking after her. Making sure she was safe and happy. Both counts he had failed on today though he never thought they would be having this conversation or he might have worked things out more. Fin paced outside of the car for a moment, he would have hit it but then cars trumped fists every time and one set of broken bones was enough for the day. He heard the door slam yet again as he bit his lip to stop himself from yelling at her. Fin held up his finger to her to motion for a minute as he jogged back to his car. He knew it was fine to sit where it was for however long he left it as he opened it and pulled a bag from the trunk. It had a medical supply kit in it, mostly for use on his clients in case they had any ideas of doing anything stupid while he was asking politely for money but in that moment he knew it would fix up her side. What could he say, once military you became organized for about every eventuality. Handy and it saved the hospital trip for Amanda as he jogged back to the car in good time before throwing the bag onto the back seat. Fin pulled open the driver’s door as he got in and slammed his own door shut. “I have a very good point; you would even call your partner to pick you up over the boyfriend? Have I not been here for you? Helped you out when I can? That is not to mention our arrangement that could have gone a different way, if I did not care.” Fin snapped as he started the car. “I know I can fill those shoes and then some but you’ve got to let me do that. I know you’re human so stop getting hurt and it’s up to you what you want. The boyfriend who is never there or me who is but since I am such a nice person, I will give you time to chose.” Fin stated as he started to slowly edge out of the space she had parked the car in. [attr="class","atar"] Amanda was used to doing her job, she was used to getting banged up. It just came with the job description, she hadn’t exactly signed up for the girl scouts. She had been through worse than what Fin could even imagine back when she was working in Atlanta. That wasn’t even at the hand of criminals but her own boss. Though she was hardly going to be able to get much of that through his head without him getting on a plane to Atlanta and trying to kill her former boss.
“It’s not a regular occurrence you know.” She looked towards him. “I took an oath and I know I am out there risking so much more than just broken ribs.” There was the whole getting shot things, and cops were becoming targets. At least she didn’t have to deal with the random traffic stops that turned sour like she had when she had been on patrol.
“My partner has always had my back Fin. We were outnumbered.” She snapped just before turning away. It wasn’t like she could tell him much more. “It just went south but I can guarantee you that my partner will lay his life down for me.” She was fuming that he thought she didn’t have that at work. She wasn’t going to argue about. “I’m not about to get into the ins and outs of my job, but it’s not the girl scouts and it’s certainly not the safest occupation I could have chosen.” She stopped for a moment. Since when did he care about anything more than their arrangement? Though she didn’t vocalize it.
Wait? Hold the phone? He wanted her? What was going on here? Amanda realized she was just spouting words. Words she meant but had he just agreed with her? So they were arguing the same point. Fan flipping tastic. That was just a man thing, she was pretty sure of that. It seemed to be a pattern that she was picking up on. Relationships weren’t exactly her forte. She’d screwed up several.
When he mentioned Nick taking her home she could tell he was being a prat about it. “I can’t just stop doing things. I have a daughter to care for Fin. She is not so independent.” She didn’t expect him to understand what it was like to have a child to take care of. “I have obligations.” It wasn’t like she could change that. “I’m not out to run a marathon right now, but somethings can’t be ignored.” Amanda starred out her passenger window and took a breath. Breathing hurt.
Fin left to go where ever it is that he was going and she took the few minutes to just collect her thoughts. Everything hurt right now, be it physically or mentally and she just wanted to go home and snuggle with Jesse. Amanda wanted the peace that came with walking in her front door. Fin was being difficult over something she had no control over.
Amanda wanted to fire back that Eric was working and didn’t have time but that would just prove his point wouldn’t it. Not that she was getting much of a choice if she wanted to keep out of trouble with Fin. Though him snapping she just ignored it now. She knew what he wanted but she wasn’t ready for a step like that between them. Even if Eric wasn’t around… she wasn’t ready for Fin to get that close to her. “Then drop the conversation.” Amanda fired back. She got comfortable as she could, there was little point in continuing said conversation. | Rollins @fin notes |
