Fin knew that being a cop required a certain degree of understanding for injuries, that was any cop though. Fin was talking about Amanda and for her there was nothing he would not do to make sure she was kept safe. The guy who hurt her this time would feel pain and a lot of it because you simply never touched what he felt was his to look after and Amanda was that person. If her partner was unable to shoot the guy then Fin would make sure that no court would give him as much pain as he would find shortly. “Then why do you not look after yourself more? You are hurt, badly hurt and oath or not you need to look after you.”Fin said as he took a breath, yes they were arguing as he tried to figure out a way to get her to understand his point. Fin was hardly in the habit of sharing personal details but then when in Rome. “I took an oath once too and in that, I was told by a wise man that you cannot help anyone if you are unable to help yourself.” Advice he had stuck by but then it hardly stopped his life from becoming what it was. You could hardly win them all he thought as he heard her talk about her partner. “Outnumbered or not you’re hurt Amanda and that doesn’t work for me.” Fin stated, sure it doubted it worked much for her either but the general statement was there. “It is good to know because I have to trust that guy to do that for you even though I have no idea about him.” He added as he decided to try to gloss over his outburst of what he wanted. “No you chose a dangerous occupation and one that I will help with but you have to watch your back.” Fin said deciding that as a cop she could make of that what she wanted to. Do not ask and do not tell played a huge part in that as he hardly wanted to be arrested for ‘helping’ or breaking people to help her out. Fin felt like arguing with her again as she mentioned being unable to stop doing things until he felt silent when he found out she had a daughter. He felt like asking since when but as a woman he was sure she would have noticed that. Shocked hardly covered what he felt in that moment though he just nodded when she spoke of the obligations. He had no idea what to say for a moment as he went to retrieve his things. How had he missed that one he wondered though given their arrangement he hardly strayed passed her house. They met away from their lives for a reason though now Fin wanted to be more involved in hers, he just had no idea what that meant until now. A child, how had she not mentioned that in passing or even just a yeah getting my daughter a flashing talking toy this week. He was still slightly stunned as he got back into the car and Amanda fired back about dropping the conversation. Fin drove for a while before he glanced at her though he kept his eyes mostly on the road. “It doesn’t change the fact I want you Amanda.” Fin stated, oh no there was no dropping the conversation. “That said you can stop doing things because I can make sure you’re taken care of.” He stated, “And not like that I mean financially. Obligations can be met with you taking a few days off work, I will take care of it and no strings attached.” Fin sure he could be classed as a monster after a fashion but he was hardly in the business of putting someone he cared about and even loved into financial ruin. “You have a daughter. What’s her name?” Fin asked as he took a breath, “You never said anything Amanda, why? It is a pretty big thing not to tell someone about.” He added though really until today there had been little discussion in the way of anything other than their activities. He was trying to wrap his head around the fact that she was a cop, a cop that could get shot and she still worked while her daughter was home. That took some understanding. Amanda Rollins,

[attr="class","atar"] Amanda just sighed. She didn’t have time to get into the intricacies of her job. “Sometimes things just go sour.” That wasn’t far from the truth. “I just happened to get caught up in it. No more than I can control anyone else around me.” Amanda was trying to explain this without going off the deep end. It was part of her job, something he was going to have to get over.
“I do look out for myself. Everyday I am on these streets.” That didn’t mean she could stop things from going sour. How was he sitting here of accusing her of not watching out? She half wanted to snap that she wasn’t still out on the streets and was going to head home anyway.
Watch her back. That was funny coming from him. She wasn’t sure if she should tell him that her partners last day was in a few days or not. No, then he would just come and intimidate the new one or something. “I won’t stand for a partner I can’t trust.” Amanda argued back. Though she hardly wanted to argue. Each time she yelled, her side hurt. “But no one can make my job any less dangerous.” Then he accused her of not watching her back. “Well let me just grow eyes in the back of my head.” Her sarcastic tones were laced in pain as she yelled right back at him.
When he left she was enjoying the moment of peace she had until he came back. Then things moved to her taking time off work. “I wasn’t planning on going back to work until I was well.” She snapped. “I’m not stupid Fin.” Amanda was worked up and wanted to go crawl in a hole, she didn’t want to deal with people but getting him to leave was going to be a task in and of itself.
“Jesse.” She answered his question mumbling as her head pressed against the window. “I’m protective of her.” The last thing that Amanda wanted was her daughter to ever be used against her. Jesse was innocent in everything. “I don’t make it a habit of talking about family. It keeps them much safer, given my line of work.” She reminded him. He should know better than anyone how that worked.
Amanda was a single mother, someone had to pay the bills. There was no one to help her from the beginning. Jesse wasn’t the only family that Amanda had but the rest of her family was pretty dysfunctional. “I always look to come home at the end of the day. That’s all any of us ever want.” She just closed her eyes as they drove. Amanda was defeated in terms of the day. She wasn’t planning on the day going to hell. | Rollins @fin notes |

Amanda had a point, there was no use in denying that one as sour was what all plans had to account for. “Fine but I really don’t have to be happy about it. You got hurt so sure that is very sour and I don’t like that it happened.” Fin stated, there was a certain amount of guilt attached to his words mainly because he had failed to account her job in trying to look after her. Yes it was all in his own way but then he was hardly going to do it anyone else’s way. “Then look after yourself more. No risks, no getting hit and learn to duck. It’s a thing you know.” Fin stated. Yes duck when a chair came toward you and watch out for things, was he really having to tell her all of this? If Fin knew of her partners last day he might have throw the guy down the stairs for simply letting Amanda get hurt and the new partner, yeah he would have a crash course in what to do. How to look after Amanda and make sure he never had to get involved in police work. Fin knew exactly how it might look but he was hardly bothered about that. He cared about Amanda and in that he was protective of her. “Good then at least I know you have sense when it comes to partners.” He stated as he rolled his eyes at her eyes in the back of her head comment. “Yeah you might want to try that, at least then I’d know you could see when to duck out of the way.” Fin almost yelled back at her, it was getting them nowhere fast and maybe he needed that break to walk to his car. Simply to stop what was going to be a downhill spiral. “You weren’t?” Fin checked as he nodded when she snapped that she was hardly stupid. Oh Amanda was as wise as they came but he would make sure she was away from work for as long as it took her to heal. Then maybe a few days after that too. “I know you’re not but all I’m saying is that I’ve got your back if you need the time off and you need the time off.” He said not wanting to give her an inch of wiggle room with that one. As the conversation changed to her daughter Fin was still in shock about that. “Jesse, it’s a lovely name.” Fin said as he nodded, she was protective as he had no idea she had a daughter at all. Talking about family put them in harm’s way; Fin knew that which was why he never spoke about his. Well in the spirit of sharing, at least Amanda would know he would never use Jesse against her if she knew he had a brother she could harass if need be. “I have a brother called Logan. Not a baby but will always be that way to me.” Fin explained before he was glad of the change of subject. “I’m glad to hear it Amanda because you’ve got Jesse counting on you to do that too.” He said though he realised that she would know that. Fin drove some more before opening his mouth again though this time he was entirely sincere in what he was saying. “Amanda, if there’s anything I can do to help you. Anything at all, name it.” He said meaning every word. “Work or home I am here and sure you can go all protective about the boyfriend but, just so you know. I’m here if you need anything.” Now he could shut up he thought as he had tried to get his point across though pushing the subject. He hardly want it to backfire on him. Amanda Rollins,

[attr="class","atar"] Amanda sighed. “I didn’t say you had to be happy about it, just…I can’t control it. So don’t sit here and blame me.” Well at least they were talking at this point. Amanda could hear the guilt in his voice. Why was he feeling responsible? No, she wasn’t going to bark up that tree. They were already arguing as it was. The last thing she wanted to do was rile him up anymore than he was already.
Was he joking? Her entire career was a risk. “The moment I pin this badge on my belt, it’s a risk.” She replied taking her badge off her belt and slamming it into her purse. Hell, right now she didn’t even want to see it. This was the career she chose. Wincing she realized how much her side hurt from throwing her badge. Amanda wasn’t going to explain that you cannot duck when a chair is trying to take you out at the waist. If she’d wanted to be struck in the head… “You know if I’d have ducked, I’d be nursing a severe concussion and not a bruised rib right?” No, Amanda would deny that her rib was broken. She never liked to admit she was ‘weak’ per say.
Right, so sarcasm couldn’t even be laid out on the table. Okay, so cue emotional outlet of anger somewhere else. Amanda curled a fist. When he snapped back with his smart remark it was all she could do not to open the moving car door. “I’m required to take time off.” She mumbled under her breath. There were lots of reasons that he’d say that, but hello it was common sense. There was a reason they had a thing called desk duty.
Amanda’s sister was that way, always a baby. Except Kim was… a troublemaker. Specifically known for bringing home all of the wrong guys who beat the snot out of her. Not to mention the other questionable things the younger sister did. “The youngest always are. I have a sister and no matter how much trouble she finds…” There was a sigh. Oh Kim was a headache and a half. She was certain next to Kim that Logan was probably a saint.
The boyfriend? Was he talking about the boyfriend who couldn’t even bother to check on her, or call her back. “Thanks.” Though Amanda took words like that with a grain of salt. Her boyfriend wasn’t here right now, her lover of sorts was. It felt odd to be having a conversation that didn’t revolve around clothing or bodies or how amazing the other looked. No, they were arguing and fighting and screaming like people in relationships did. What was going on? Amanda decided that it was something to think about for later. Right now, she was trying to sort things out in her head. E | Rollins @fin notes |

“Since when have I blamed you? I simply pointed out a few things and I blame the person that did that to you. That person will be lucky to be alive next week or even tomorrow so maybe you cannot control it. But I can fix it.” Fin said trying not to bark, snap or cause any more of an argument than was already happening. He felt responsible that he had left things this long to make a claim on her, even if it was to others who might seek to hurt a cop. No Amanda was off limits to all and anyone who had an issue with that would find out the painful way exactly why. Fin fought the overwhelming urge to tell her to stop being a cop; the sentence was hanging there waiting for it to be voiced though he knew it would never happen. “Feel better now? Stop hurting yourself and just relax.” He stated taking a much needed breath before he did voice those words about her taking a safer career path in life. “Then duck the other way, there’s more than one way to duck. Don’t they teach you anything at cop school?” Fin asked wondering if they even taught self defence or if that was a class he was going to have to teach her himself. Go figure his tax dollars at work; yes despite his own career choice he did pay tax like everyone else and now he would have to show her how to defend herself. “And it’s not a bruised rib, it’s broken and the minute you admit that the better it will be. I know exactly what a broken rib feels like and looks like... you have a broken rib. Don’t argue with the person who went through medical training.” Fin stated deciding that he would argue that one until he was blue in the face. “Admitting you’re hurt takes a strong person. Everyone needs help at some point Amanda.” Fin added, he had heard that line from a fellow soldier much worse than he had been. Sure he had been face with never walking again but the guy he had shared a room with at the rehab centre, Fin knew there was not even a slim chance for him and he had the best kind of attitude. One Fin could only hope to have a piece of though his words still rang true to him. “Fine, required means you’re off work so I still stand by what I said.” He grumbled, not that he was against helping her out. If anything he was all for spending as much time with her as humanly possible. Hurt or otherwise but maybe that way he could get her to see exactly what a boyfriend should be doing for her. After all he could take a few days and let the citizens of Chicago live freely for a day or two. A reprieve from the vicious payment cycle that he would no doubt start up again as soon as Amanda decided to go back to work or she got sick of him. “I guess I am lucky that my brother, if trouble found him... let’s just say there is worse trouble that could happen.” Fin said trying to smile about it though the one thing Fin would never stand for was anyone messing with his brother. He might hate the guy, dislike him, want to kill him and sure fight about everything but he was his brother at the end of the day. Fin had started off doing what he could for the guy and that would never change. He could just grumble more about it now he was of an age where he would understand. “Family, it’s what we do but if there’s trouble you need fixed. You know where I am.” He offered not knowing exactly what kind it would be but he was up for the job no matter what. Fin smiled when he heard the word thanks, did that mean he was finally getting somewhere with her? The conversation was strange and not what he was used to with her but he was enjoying it none the less. Even the arguing and screaming at each other over something he figured the boyfriend would be doing, how could she not see that he liked her? No right now he needed to get her home to rest and eat and fix what he could for her. “So tell me about Jesse, how old is she?” Fin asked, “Because if she doesn’t talk then what do you do with her? I mean seriously what do you do with one other than make faces and hope they keep their dinner down.” He asked being at least honest though in his line of work. Babies and kids were hardly the ones that owed him anything and he tried to have as little to do with them as possible. Simply because he had no idea of them, it was like a whole new species to him, ones that cried, screamed and made smells that could vacate a house within seconds. In a nut shell that was his idea of kids, it was plainly obvious he had none and was hardly interactive with one. Though there was always a first time though he doubted even a baby or toddler could do much to him other than affirm his suspicions of all the above. Amanda Rollins ,
