Emily was starting to relax a little, though she still hadn't turned Josh loose. Watching her sister sit next to Alyssa she went ahead and chose the seat next to Steven, she figured at least this way she could kick him or stomp his foot if he went too far. She eyed her sister warily as she questioned Josh about the hostage rescue team stating that it must be stressful. Emily squeezed Josh's hand under the table and smiled at him. When she heard Isla go on to say that she wouldn't be patient enough for it Emily laughed, "You'd be surprised what you're patient enough to deal with when you're in the situation yourself." Realizing that she had neglected to mention the whole story about how her and Josh met to her sister and not wanting to get into it right now she smiled, "But that's why there are professionals like Josh so that the rest of us don't have to deal with it." Turning to Alex Emily eyed him up and down, as far as first impressions went he made a pretty good one. Making her sister laugh and smile and holding her chair for her meant a lot. Seeing Isla happy with a guy again, well she wasn't sure she'd ever see that again after the number jerk face pulled on her. "So Alex, Isla told me a lot about you while we were shopping... and it's been awhile since I've seen her this happy, so I hope it stays that way." She wanted so badly to say that if he messed this up he wouldn't have to worry about Steven because she would get to him first, but Isla would likely chase her out of the restaurant so she refrained. Emily could sense that Alyssa was uncomfortable with the entire situation and wanted to fuss at Steven, but she knew better. Having no idea how to make Alyssa more comfortable she just smiled at her sympathetically, because truth be told she was uncomfortable too. Sad thing was Josh and Alex seemed to be handling the whole dinner better than she was, but it had been awhile since Emily had liked a guy enough for them to meet her family and she wanted this to work out so badly. She was normally quite chatty, but today Emily just sipped her water held on to Josh's hand for dear life and watched what was going on around her. Leaning towards Josh she whispered in his ear, "Thank you for coming, it means a lot." Steven Hudson, Alyssa Zorin, Isla Hudson, Josh Cameron, @alex

When Steven shook his hand he smiled and nodded, “I’ve heard a lot about you too... all good though.” He said trying to lighten the mood a little but he wasnt sure it would. He felt nervous knowing all he knew about Steven and Isla given what Emily had told him. It was like meeting people he had a head start on that wasnt work related at all. This was her family though he was glad to know there were others there too in the same boat as he was.
It seemed to him that Alyssa seemed nervous or at least nervous of the two cops in the room, that was never a good start though he wasnt sure how to make that any better. “Wow 16 years, are you still enjoying it? So you’re the fly girl then? Female Top Gun?” He asked Alyssa, “Me I served for fourteen.” He stated figuring that common ground was a good a place to start as any. That was how it worked in his day job so why not translate the two and hope for the best he thought. After all it couldnt get much more awkward given it was like meeting the family which was exactly what they all were doing.
With Emily sat next to Steven Josh chose to sit next to her glad to have someone in between just in case things did go sideways. He glanced at Isla and smiled as he felt Emily squeeze his hand. “It can be but depends on the day. I think that working in an ER would be a lot more stressful than what I do.” He said as he listened to her and grinned, it was amazing how patient people could be in the right situation and also how impatient too which didnt always work out well. “Well sometimes you just have to wait around; most of my job is just a conversation and a lot of waiting.” He said as he took a breath, most of his day was about talking to people to make sure they were alright only a bad day did things end well badly.
“I don’t think I’d have much patience for nursing. You guys are the rock stars in my mind.” He stated knowing that to put up with half of what they did in a day would likely drive him mad. Josh glanced at Emily when she started talking about being patient enough, he had no idea how much she had or hadn’t told her family about what had happened that day they met. Josh just smiled and shrugged, it was his job and he was happy to do it. It gave him a purpose and something to focus on and often if he got a good result it was the feeling of doing the right job over the worse days. Josh just stared at Alex a moment when Emily spoke about her sister staying happy, well there was no doubt in the meaning of it he thought not sure if he should say anything or not. “I’m sure Alex will make sure of that.” He said hoping to help the guy out a little, not that he needed it but then Josh wasnt exactly sure what would be said to him about things either. Josh was half considering trying to figure out something smart to say like ‘I’ll make sure to look after Emily’ or ‘She’s in safe hands’ though he doubted that of those lines would actually work.
Josh was used to Emily being quite chatty but when she was quiet he glanced toward her for a moment as he felt her hold onto his hand still as he squeezed her hand lightly. Josh smiled and leaned back to her, “My pleasure, glad to be here.” He said happy enough to get to meet the people that mattered to Emily. “Everything okay? You seem quiet?” He whispered back to her not sure if it was the dinner or if something was wrong.

Do not glare he told himself after hearing those words from Josh. ‘All good though’ ha since when was hearing about him all good. He wanted to be the guy’s worst nightmare from now on as he gave him a stony faced look for a moment. “Trust me, it’s not all good. Just as Emily what I did to the last guy who crossed my sisters. To you I’d do worse.” He stated meaning each word, he was far from polite when anyone messed with family and if Josh thought lightening the mood was a good idea. Steven would make sure he thought twice about joking around. Steven was more than glad that Alyssa was there, it meant a lot to him that she had come that evening. Not just for his own peace of mind but to meet his sisters and his family though it did help she could also keep him sane. That was a handy thing to have given before meeting these two guys he had wanted to tear them apart for even looking at his sisters let alone anything else they were doing with them. No his mind had to stay far away from even a suggestion of that before he strangled either one of them for laying a hand on either sister. He knew about Alyssa and the cop with her ex, well needless to say he knew why she seemed uncomfortable but then they could hardly tar everyone with the same brush. Seeing her nervous glance Steven smiled and leaned toward her. “It’s okay. I won’t let them hurt you.” He said knowing he would never let any man at that table hurt any woman around it as he squeezed her hand lightly. His other hand rubbed her arm light for a moment as he smiled before he turned his attention to the others and what was being said. His master plan for everyone to be off balanced seemed to work so far, it was one of those things that either it would work or he would be off balance and that happened most days. As the conversation turned to a hostage team he gave Emily a knowing look, he had been less than impressed with her keeping the incident from him and now if there was an ER issue he was on the phone to his sisters as far as he could be. “Well you should ask Emily all about that Isla, she had firsthand knowledge that she didn’t even think we needed to know about.” He stated, well if he knew one thing in life it was that little sister and big brother on the same side of things. Emily was in for a grilling about it. Steven rolled his eyes lightly as he looked between the faces, “Yeah so all Emily had to do was hold the guy’s hand... still sure that’s code for something.” He stated grinning at Emily for a moment though he was deadly serious about it. He had been in the kitchen at home when she had told him and still he was far from over that little bombshell of information she landed that day. Yes Josh was great and fantastic and there but a hostage situation was a thing you told family about, at least he would have thought that way. Alyssa Zorin, Isla Hudson, @alex, @emily, Josh Cameron,

"Steven!" Isla sent her brother a quick glare, punctuating it with a kick to the shin under the table. She hadn't brought Alex here to be threatened, and it wasn't going to do her any for the man to have to defend himself against something he hadn't even done yet. Certainly, she appreciated that Steven looked after them, and that he had taken on their father's role when he had died. And she knew that she had made some pretty bad choices, well, at least the one, and he had a right to be concerned, but still, if he didn't loosen up, she was just going to do what she was going to do without telling him about it, and she hated that she might have to hide things from him. "I haven't been in nursing all that long yet to make much of a judgement on it," she answered Josh with a grin. "Emily would know more, but I wish we were rock stars, then we might not have to deal with some of the..." She caught herself, sort of feeling that, what with all the professionals here, the subject of blood and trauma wasn't out of form, but other bodily yuckies that came along with the indigent population that required cleaning up as part of treatment wasn't exactly appropriate at a meal. "Anyway, we're all parts of a whole that make things better for the city, right? So...we're kind of like X-Men...or the Avengers!" Well, she really didn't know one group from another, she wasn't much into that genre, but if it got the topics off threats, all the better! @emily, Josh Cameron, Steven Hudson, @alex
