Sofia smiled hearing his voice as she nodded to him. “Yes I am, thanks to you.” She replied even though she wanted to scream at him for putting himself in harm’s way she was still thankful for what he had done for her. In her life she was hardly use to anyone doing anything like that for her beyond her best friend but there had never been bullets to drag her away from. This was a first for Sofia when it came to getting shot at, yes she had been shot in the arm before well grazed but still it was scary.
“I put you on enough so you will feel little at all.” She said knowing that she had perhaps done slightly more than her usual dose for anyone else but the thought of him waking up in pain. It was unbearable to think of. “You’ll gradually feel less high as time goes on but for now, you’re pain free.” She said smiling, it might have been the only thing she was able to do for him but she had done it and no matter what she would never change it.
Sofia smiled for a moment feeling his thumb run over her hand as she winced hearing about his job. She wanted to tell him to quit, that she had enough to make sure he never had to work again but it was a ridiculous argument she was never going to start. If he asked her to quit her job then she knew what she would do and the answer was far from a yes.
“Then let me protect you too because this isn’t a one way street and never will be.” She explained not exactly happy about what he had said but between his groggy voice and the honesty. It was likely not to go in her favour if she started to argue with him right there and then. Sofia leaned in and kissed the back of his hand lightly for a moment when he closed his eyes. He was alive and that was all that mattered to her despite the fact she was annoyed he had managed to get shot trying to get her out of the way.
“I’d expect nothing less and you can believe I won’t either. So you stay out of trouble because I was planning on a day off with you, not exactly a hospital trip.” She stated with a smile. “But since you are here I guess I have you all to myself still so it still works out for me.”
