James Reagan Just cause James was FBI didn't mean he couldn't do anything, the one good thing he had on his side was that he was former Army-CID and had worked at the PD, he was well known around the precient so he could pretty much use that card if he wanted to, not that he did use it much.
No, this time he wanted to do things properly.
The officers had booked Brian and after letting him have his phone call had left him in interrogation to wait for his lawyer whoever that was and James to arrive. James had arrived just a little while ago but had decided to let Brian stew for a while and see whether the lawyer would turn up, not that James cared, really he had enough to hang Brian with but he but he wanted to let Brian dig himself deep enough (Not that he had done a good job of that already by talking so much).
The officers who had brought Brian in had located James in the lobby and had brought him through to the observation room to watch Brian through the screen for a while.
Watching him James contemplated his approach, Brian was a piece of work and he knew it, people like Brian usually had like some sort of safety net that helped them in a way to get away with whatever they wanted. James wanted to literally rip that safety net away and give Brian a piece of his own medicine, but to do that he had to play by the rules too.

The more time Brian had to sit and think about his situation the more confident he became. He knew that the charge of battery was a class A misdemeanor in the state of Illinois so worst case he was looking at less than a year in jail, but that all depended on whether or not the State's attorney decided to press charges. He also knew that the SA was unlikely to pursue something as small as this without a cooperating victim. He was fairly certain that Chloe wouldn't give a statement especially if his father had managed to get ahold of her, she had never wanted to cause him any real trouble before.
He also had a really good feeling that Mr. FBI man was going to try his hardest to cause him problems. He wondered to himself why this guy even cared enough to make such a big deal out of something that had nothing to do with him or his jurisdiction. Apparently he had really been swayed by a pretty girl and her big crocodile tears, but the reason that James was so set on taking him down was entirely beyond him.
When Brian had called his father, who was on the way from the hotel to the station right now, Brian had told him the charges and his Dad had simply sighed asking him if Chloe had changed her phone number since she'd moved, telling him not to answer any questions until he got there and assuring him that he would handle everything.
So following his father's directions, and trusting that he would handle things Brian sat there smiling confidently, waiting for someone to make the next move.

James Reagan After a moment a senior officer entered and as James turned to face him he handed him a thick file “Sir” he said simply and James nodded, opening it at the first page he scanned it before closing it and tucking it under his arm “When whoever he called arrives, bring them straight through” he said before exiting. He stops outside the door of the interrogation room and smoothes down his tie, at the same time calming himself before pushing the door open with a loud click and letting the door swing open with a thump he enters, closing the door behind him, he strolls casually up to the table and takes the seat opposite, slapping the file down in front of him as he does so. Settling down he leans back and stares intently at Brian, waiting patiently, he knew Brian liked to talk a lot so he figured sometime he’d try and open his mouth again, never stopped him before so why not now?.
He probably by now figures he'd be able to get himself out of it, but James knew the law a little better than this guy - he'd already ruined his defence by talking so... yeah.

Brian smirks at James as he pushes the door open and almost laughs when he can tell that James is going for the big dramatic entrance. He simply watches James take a seat and set a file down in front of him. Now Brian knows the man is grasping for straws, because the couple times that the police were ever called back in Iowa…he knows that there were never statements given or reports filed, and Chloe had never had to seek medical treatment. His father knew all of the officers, as he grew up with most of them, and the others…well apparently, being the State’s Attorney did have a few perks. So whatever James had in his thick file had nothing to do with Chloe.
When James leans back in his chair and starts staring at him, Brian mimics his movements and returns his stare. Oh yeah…this was going to be interesting. This guy was expecting him to talk himself into trouble, and what he didn’t realize was that as much as Brian had been talking at the fire station…he was just trying to keep himself out of this precise situation. Since that hadn’t worked he was definitely going to keep his mouth shut until his father arrived, and even after his arrival he would let his father do all the talking.
Brian figures that his Dad hadn’t managed to become the State’s Attorney in Iowa by being a crappy lawyer, no he’d seen his Dad in court and the man was amazing. He wishes that he had shared the same passion for the law that his father had, but Brian had always been more attracted to the political aspect of things than the court room battles that seemed to be his father’s forte.
Brian grows uncomfortable leaning back in the seat, so he sits forward placing his elbows on the table never breaking eye contact with James. Yeah, he had probably run his mouth a little too much at the fire station…but things hadn’t necessarily been handled by the book either. He’s positive when his father is given the full story he will find some loopholes, and when they get Chloe to say on record that she doesn’t wish to press charges…well that will certainly help their case as well.
When there’s a knocking on the interrogation room door, Brian smirks because he knows that his father has arrived which means that he’s on his way out of this awful place.

James Reagan
The sad thing about people like this creep was that they always felt safe hiding behind their safety net, they felt powerful and in control, they manipulated everyone and everything around them - and used whatever power they had to their advantage. Brian was clearly way too comfortable with his safety as he copied James’ motion, but at least he’d finally shut up - clearly trying to salvage whatever was left.
As Brian suddenly grew uncomfortable and leaned forward, somehow maintaining eye contact James smirked - leaning forward himself meaning he was practically inches away from Brian’s personal space - well almost anyway.
At the knock on the door James grinned, standing he headed over and opened it, revealing both a police officer, a Detective and whoever it was Brian had called, he stepped aside to allow them entry “I’ll be back in two hours, I’ll let Detective Braemer get to know you” he’d called Braemer just before he arrived at the PD to ask him to meet them at interrogation but he’d gotten held up so only just now turned up. Braemer nodded “yes sir” James exited, he needed Chloe's testimony and agreement for charges to be pressed before he could do anything. But Braemer was just there to keep an eye on everything while James was gone.

Two hours...seriously this guy thought that he was going to make him sit here for two hours while he went out and did whatever it was the FBI did? "Two hours? Really?" Brian started before his father cut him off with a stern look. "Ok. Great! We'll be here." He said in an overly happy tone before standing and walking to the back corner of the room. It was not Brian's style to sit still for very long so the idea of being stuck in this room for two hours was starting to get to him and make him fidgety.
His father followed him to the corner and placed his arm around him, and spoke softly into his ear "It's ok...I promise, he's probably going off to get statements...we just have to play their game right now. It will all work out in the end...I promise." His father steered Brian back over to the table and gestured for him to have a seat before he took one himself. "So Detective, I didn't catch your name, but if you're only here to babysit us you don't have to sit here on our account. I know the drill and we're not going anywhere, and I'd hate to bore you by making you sit here with us.
Brian sat back in his seat and crossed his arms over his chest and sighed, clearly still agitated about having to stay in the tiny room for the next two hours. "Did you call Madison, Dad? She'll need to know...I'm surprised she didn't beat you here."
Mr. Crawford shook his head, "No...I didn't see the need to make that phone call right now. No need in getting her involved until it becomes absolutely necessary, IF it ever becomes necessary. Right now we're just going to sit back and relax and see how things play out. No need in any of us getting worked up over something when there's no need." He said calmly. Hoping that his son would relax a little, even though Brian fidgeted all the time and always had. He'd always been an anxious and busy little boy, never content to sit still for very long.
