Red light, green light it felt like the colours were flashing in her eyes as she struggled to focus on any one person. It was strange to be the patient in the back of an ambulance; her eyes struggled to see the ceiling as she tried her best to keep telling the medics to call her husband. She named him, gave the precinct even his badge number but each and every time she passed out she gave the information again just to make sure that someone had made that call.
The kids needed to be collected from school, dinner had to be made and homework done but Shani knew she was in too much of a state to do any of it. She knew she had suffered a head injury, broken ribs, even her torso was bruised heavily but from what she had pieced together there was no lasting damage. She had never seen that truck running the light and before she knew what was happening they had been hanging off a bridge staring at the icy cold water underneath. That was until she saw the familiar harsh florescent lighting of the emergency room.
Was Jason there? Was he on his way and did they even call him already? She wondered not sure what she was going to say to explain it but she was terrified and all she wanted was a familiar face. To tell him she loved him and tell him everything she had put off the past few weeks because they had been busy or there was simply no longer time left in the day. Her head was spinning as she closed her eyes again trying to keep herself awake though it was fighting an uphill battle.

Jason was on patrol when the call came in to him about Shani being involved in a wreck. After replying, he headed over to the hospital that she had been taken to. After arriving, he and Ice headed inside, only for him to be told to wait until Shani was stable enough for him to see her. Jason prayed for Shani as he waited, having called his sister to get the kids for him. When it was time, he went into the room with Ice, seeing Shani lay there. He walked up and sat next to her bed, gently taking her hand in his. "Hey lass, I'm here....and so is Ice." he said softly while sitting there and looking at her. Ice sensed that something was wrong as he watched Jason speak to Shani. Shani McGuire,

Feeling someone take her hand Shani opened her eyes, it took her a moment to adjust to the light though when she saw his face she smiled the best she could. “Hey you two.” She said slowly as she blinked a few times, whatever they had given her was making her a little slower than usual. “ani ohev otach” (I love you). She said in Hebrew, it was easier to revert back for a moment as she was unsure where to start with everything she had wanted to say so clearly before she got to the hospital.
“The children... I can’t go get them... someone needs to get them.” She said taking a painful breath in as she tried to push herself up from the bed though every movement seemed to hurt worse than the last. “Jason... I have to get out of here.” She almost pleaded as she gazed at him tears forming in her eyes. She had a job to do and there was no doing it from a hospital at all. “I need to go home and make dinner.” She said always wanted to get that done when she could around her shifts.
