Matt is a rather laid back and easy going guy, he is pretty easy to get along with for the most part and has a strong sense of loyalty. But he has seen the best and the worst in people and doesn't tend to fully give his trust to people beyond the minimum benefit of the doubt until they earn it.
He has a network of people in his life but is kind of the lone wolf type, though this had began to change over the past year, especially since meeting his best friend James Andrew Reagan Jr. Now Matt is opening himself up a little more, actively cultivating connections and meaningful relationships with people.

Matt has been pretty laid back when it comes to dating ever since his adolescence, and he would admit to being a serial dater. Though he can not be called a 'womanizer' and is very respectful in the way he treats women.
He has been in a few real relationships over the years too but has never married. However Matt now feels the desire to settle down and is taking dating more seriously in the hope of finding Mrs right.

Being a cop Matt has a few people on his watch list, especially with his personal commitment to fighting crime and gang activity amongst the adolescents in his neighborhood. But with the exception of the man who killed his friend Christopher he doesn't really have any real enemies or personal nemeses to speak of because he isn't the type to get caught up in a feud or hold onto a grudge for long periods of time. However people who hurt women or children can push his buttons and he usually doesn't take kindly to them.

I definitely think that Madison and Matthew Cole would bump into each other around the station and become work colleagues, if not friends. They both seem to take a similar attitude towards dating - as in keeping it very not serious - so there might be something there but Madison tends to avoid office romance unless it is spelled out VERY clearly that there is no actual relationship just... um... benefits. So romance might be something to avoid, but I can definitely see Madison being friends with Matthew and being the kind of colleague to go down the local for a pint after a long day's work...?

Well Matt doesn't do...benefits, and nowadays he is looking for Mrs right so that rules out a romance. But Matt is actively cultivating friendships nowadays so I could see them having a friendship of some kind.  And I think the two would bump into each other around the office and would
maybe work on some stuff here and there, even if it's just the little
stuff.

Matt is not a huge fan of bars but he will have a drink in one from time to time (especially if it's an occasion or something), though he does prefer having a cold one at home or at a friends house.
They could possibly be friends through a mutual friend from work? (could explain why Loki isn't there?) I could see them handing out at a friends place having a drink and chilling out, maybe even playing some kind of video game, card or drinking game even? It's up to you.

A lot of my threads have come to a pause for now and some have died so I can start another thread if you want one. I'm open to plot ideas

Sure that all sounds good to me. I like the idea that they go and have some kind of poker or drinking game night around someone's. Which will be hilarious because Madison used to play drinking games at sixteen with a bunch of tough military commanders so good luck beating her lol. Might be a good opportunity for them to get to know each other and build some work colleague respect? lol.

I kind of like the idea of a drinking game at someones place, even though Matt has a 'drink but don't get drunk' rule for himself. But he could easily have a little more than he should and get a bit tipsy by accident

I like the idea of the drinking game being a way for them to get to know each other too and I had an idea.
What if the drinking game was a bit like never have I ever, in the sense that it is designed to get people to share things? But instead of saying never have I ever and people drink if they have done it, you instead get to ask a person of your choice a question, if they answer you drink but if they decline to answer they drink, or something along those lines.
You keep going round in a circle taking turns asking a question until everyone is hammered or bails out of the game lol That way the questions will get more personal or out there as the game goes on and people will start getting drunker and let things slip easer lol. It's just an idea and could be a way to explore our chars a bit is all.

But I am totally open to ideas if you have any

So muse has been pestering me with three plots/vague ideas and after telling it to hush for weeks I have finally given in, so I'm hitting up my plotters

One half formed plot is that someone is brought into pd and they asks for Matt. It turns out it's one of his old friends from when he was a teenager and the pair grew up in a rough neighborhood together.
The guys swears he is innocent and he wants Matt's help, but he has a record so it makes it harder for Matt to argue his case. Thought the guy could lie about some detail too and it makes things harder, just for added complications as well as to cast some doubt in Matt's mind, like "if I can't believe you and I'm a friend, how are they supposed to?"
Don't know what the guy could be accused of, maybe robbery or selling illegal goods?
Either someone could help Matt investigate to prove the man is innocent, or they can be building the case against the man.

And one vague idea is a continuation of a thread I did last year.
Matt learned that he put the wrong man in jail back when he first made detective about 4 years ago. On finding out he spiraled and seriously considered resigning. He got out of the spiral with the help of his friend but it all seriously knocked his confidence.
I'd like to to a follow up thread set months later where Matt hasn't been the lead detective on a case since. I'd like to do a thread where he is forced into a position that makes him 'get back on the horse' kind of thing, and it leads to him gaining his confidence back again.
Again I don't have the details worked out but I am happy to spitball and hash out ideas.

The other is to just generally get Lara into some kind of trouble or another. No specific ideas for that but I'm open to ideas.
